1Evaluation of a granulated formula for the nerve root type and vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis:a multicenter,single-blind,randomized,controlled,phase Ⅲ clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of cervical spondylosis formula granules in reducing the symptoms of patients with the nerve root type and the vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis.METHODS:This was a multicenter, single-blind,randomized, controlled trial.From April 2002 to November 2003, 499 patients were randomly assigned to either the treatment or the control group.The treatment group was orally administered granules prepared with a formula for cervical spondylosis, while the control group was given Jingfukang granules.The treatment course was 1 month for both groups.RESULTS:In patients with the nerve root type of cervical spondylosis, the total effect rate in the treatment group(87.21%) was significantly higher than that in the control group(80.70%, P < 0.01).After the treatment period in both groups, the treatment group had a significantly greater rate of resolution of pain, numbness of the upper limbs, muscle strength of the upper limbs, and fatigue than the control group(all P < 0.05).In patients with the vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis, the total effect rate in the treatment group(82.07%) was similar to that in the control group(71.21%, P >0.05).After the treatment period in both groups,the treatment group had a significantly greater rate of resolution of weakness of the waist and knees than the control group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:The cervical spondylosis formula granules significantly improve numbness, muscle strength, and fatigue, and reduce pain in patients with the nerve root type of cervical spondylosis,and improve the weakness of the waist and knees in patients with the vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis.Luo Xiaodong Wang Peng Li Zhe Liang De Huang Feng Liu Jinwen Chen Xinyu Hu Guoheng Fang Suting Zhang Huajian 2017Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2017,37,2:28
2In situ preparation of g-C3N4/Bi4O5I2 complex and its elevated photoactivity in Methyl Orange degradation under visible light显示文摘A graphite carbon nitride(g-C3N4)modified Bi4O5I2 composite was successfully prepared insitu via the thermal treatment of a g-C3N4/Bi OI precursor at 400°C for 3 hr.The as-prepared g-C3N4/Bi4O5I2 showed high photocatalytic performance in Methyl Orange(MO)degradation under visible light.The best sample presented a degradation rate of 0.164 min^-1,which is 3.2 and 82 times as high as that of Bi4O5I2 and g-C3N4,respectively.The g-C3N4/Bi4O5I2 was characterized by X-ray powder diffractometer(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),Raman,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectra(DRS),electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)and transient photocurrent response in order to explain the enhanced photoactivity.Results indicated that the decoration with a small amount of g-C3N4 influenced the specific surface area only slightly.Nevertheless,the capability for absorbing visible light was improved measurably,which was beneficial to the MO degradation.On top of that,a strong interaction between g-C3N4 and Bi4O5I2 was detected.This interplay promoted the formation of a favorable heterojunction structure and thereby enhanced the charge separation.Thus,the g-C3N4/Bi4O5I2 composite presented greater charge separation efficiency and much better photocatalytic performance than Bi4O5I2.Additionally,g-C3N4/Bi4O5I2 also presented high stability.·O2^- and holes were verified to be the main reactive species.Zhe Feng Lin Zeng Qingle Zhang Shifeng Ge Xinyue Zhao Hongjun Lin Yiming He 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1:12
3Epidemiological characteristics and disease burden of infectious mononucleosis in hospitalized children in China:A nationwide retrospective study显示文摘Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)is very common,with the infection rate in adults over 90%worldwide.Infectious mononucleosis(IM)is caused by primary infection with EBV.Most IM patients are generally considered to have a favorable prognosis,but a few patients will also develop complications.Children with severe symptoms will require hospitalization.However,the disease burden of children hospitalized with IM in China has been rarely described.In this study,we included the Face sheets of discharge medical records from 27 member children's hospitals of Futang Research Center of Pediatric Development from Jan 1st,2016 to Dec 31st,2020,and medical information such as gender,age,region,time of admission,length of stay and expenditure were extracted.There were 24,120 IM cases,which accounted for 0.42%(24,120/5,693,262)of all hospitalized cases during this period.The ratio of male to female was 1.48:1.Hospitalization for IM in the 4-6 years age group was the highest among inpatients of all age groups.Case numbers increased year by year between 2016 and 2020,and the monthly hospitalization was generally high from Jul to Sep but reduced from Jan to Feb per year.Bronchitis/pneumonia and hepatic dysfunction were two common complications in hospitalized IM patients.The median length of stay was 8 days,and the median cost of hospitalization was 970.59 US dollars.This study will help understand the epidemiological characteristics and disease burden of hospitalized children with IM in China.Mengjia Liu Xinyu Wang Linlin Zhang Guoshuang Feng Yueping Zeng Ran Wang Zhengde Xie 2022Virologica Sinica2022,37,5:10
4Three-dimensional-printed individualized porous implants:A new“implant-bone”interface fusion concept for large bone defect treatment显示文摘Bone defect repairs are based on bone graft fusion or replacement.Current large bone defect treatments are inadequate and lack of reliable technology.Therefore,we aimed to investigate a simple technique using three-dimensional(3D)-printed individualized porous implants without any bone grafts,osteoinductive agents,or surface biofunctionalization to treat large bone defects,and systematically study its long-term therapeutic effects and osseointegration characteristics.Twenty-six patients with large bone defects caused by tumor,infection,or trauma received treatment with individualized porous implants;among them,three typical cases underwent a detailed study.Additionally,a large segmental femur defect sheep model was used to study the osseointegration characteristics.Immediate and long-term biomechanical stability was achieved,and the animal study revealed that the bone grew into the pores with gradual remodeling,resulting in a long-term mechanically stable implant-bone complex.Advantages of 3D-printed microporous implants for the repair of bone defects included 1)that the stabilization devices were immediately designed and constructed to achieve early postoperative mobility,and 2)that osseointegration between the host bone and implants was achieved without bone grafting.Our osseointegration method,in which the“implant-bone”interface fusion concept was used instead of“bone-bone”fusion,subverts the traditional idea of osseointegration.Teng Zhang Qingguang Wei Hua Zhou Zehao Jing Xiaoguang Liu Yufeng Zheng Hong Cai Feng Wei Liang Jiang Miao Yu Yan Cheng Daoyang Fan Wenhao Zhou Xinhong Lin Huijie Leng Jian Li Xinyu Li Caimei Wang Yun Tian Zhongjun Liu 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,11:9

7High-quality genome assembly of 'Cuiguan' pear (Pyrus pyrifolia) as a reference genome for identifying regulatory genes and epigenetic modifications responsible for bud dormancy显示文摘Dormancy-associated MADS-box(DAM)genes serve as crucial regulators of the endodormancy cycle in rosaceous plants.Although pear DAM genes have been identified previously,the lack of a high-quality reference genome and techniques to study gene function have prevented accurate genome-wide analysis and functional verification of such genes.Additionally,the contribution of other genes to the regulation of endodormancy release remains poorly understood.In this study,a high-quality genome assembly for'Cuiguan'pear(Pyrus pyrifolia),which is a leading cultivar with a low chilling requirement cultivated in China,was constructed using PacBio and Hi-C technologies.Using this genome sequence,we revealed that pear DAM genes were tandemly clustered on Chr8 and Chr15 and were differentially expressed in the buds between'Cuiguan'and the high-chilling-requirement cultivar'Suli'during the dormancy cycle.Using a virus-induced gene silencing system,we determined the repressive effects of DAM genes on bud break.Several novel genes potentially involved in the regulation of endodormancy release were identified by RNA sequencing and H3K4me3 chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing analyses of‘Suli'buds during artificial chilling using the new reference genome.Our findings enrich the knowledge of the regulatory mechanism underlying endodormancy release and chilling requirements and provide a foundation for the practical regulation of dormancy release in fruit trees as an adaptation to climate change.Yuhao Gao Qinsong Yang Xinhui Yan Xinyue Wu Feng Yang Jianzhao Li Jia Wei Junbei Ni Mudassar Ahmad Songling Bai Yuanwen Teng 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:5
8The correlation and overlaps between PD-L1 expression and classical genomic aberrations in Chinese lung adenocarcinoma patients: a single center case series显示文摘Objective:To investigate the correlation and overlaps between PD-L1 expression and classical genomic aberrations in Chinese lung adenocarcinoma(LADC)patients.Methods:We reviewed 428 consecutive,surgically resected cases of LADC from October 2015 to December 2016 from our center.PD-L1 expression was evaluated based on tumor proportion score(TPS).Correlation and co-occurrence of PD-L1 expression level with those of classical driver genes,such as EGFR,ALK,ROS-1,and KRAS and with clinical variables and disease-free survival(DFS)were analyzed.Results:Seventy of the 428 cases(16.4%)showed TPS≥1%,and 21 cases(4.9%)showed TPS≥50%.PD-L1 positive expression was significantly associated with male gender,smoking,advanced TNM stage,and solid histologic subtype.Both TPS≥1% and ≥50%were correlated with the absence of an EGFR mutation(P<0.001)and the presence of ALK rearrangement(P=0.024).KRAS mutation was associated with TPS≥50%(P=0.035).PD-L1 positivity commonly overlapped with the alterations of classical driver oncogenes(58.5%with TPS≥1% and 42.9% with TPS≥50%).Approximately three-quarters of PD-L1 positive cases co-occurred with classical therapeutic-gene aberrations in cases with stage III/IV cancer or cancer progression.LADC could be divided into four subgroups based on the expression profile of current routine biomarkers for potential therapeutic strategies.Conclusions:PD-L1 expression is not only closely correlated with classic gene alterations but also commonly overlaps with the aberrations of classical driver oncogenes in Chinese LADC patients.These findings provide a useful overview of clinical strategies that rely on the profile of routinely used molecular biomarkers.Jianghua Wu Wei Sun Haiyue Wang Xiaozheng Huang Xinyu Wang Weiyang Jiang Ling Jia Ping Wang Qin Feng Dongmei Lin 2019Cancer Biology & Medicine2019,16,4:5
9Coriander Genomics Database:a genomic,transcriptomic,and metabolic database for coriander显示文摘Coriander(Coriandrum sativum L.),also known as cilantro,is a globally important vegetable and spice crop.Its genome and that of carrot are models for studying the evolution of the Apiaceae family.Here,we developed the Coriander Genomics Database(CGDB,http://gffzzc8ce0bd092c048a1h6cfvwoqvbn6v6cq0.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/)to collect,store,and integrate the genomic,transcriptomic,metabolic,functional annotation,and repeat sequence data of coriander and carrot to serve as a central online platform for Apiaceae and other related plants.Using these data sets in the CGDB,we intriguingly found that seven transcription factor(TF)families showed significantly greater numbers of members in the coriander genome than in the carrot genome.The highest ratio of the numbers of MADS TFs between coriander and carrot reached 3.15,followed by those for tubby protein(TUB)and heat shock factors.As a demonstration of CGDB applications,we identified 17 TUB family genes and conducted systematic comparative and evolutionary analyses.RNA-seq data deposited in the CGDB also suggest dose compensation effects of gene expression in coriander.CGDB allows bulk downloading,significance searches,genome browser analyses,and BLAST searches for comparisons between coriander and other plants regarding genomics,gene families,gene collinearity,gene expression,and the metabolome.A detailed user manual and contact information are also available to provide support to the scientific research community and address scientific questions.CGDB will be continuously updated,and new data will be integrated for comparative and functional genomic analysis in Apiaceae and other related plants.Xiaoming Song Fulei Nie Wei Chen Xiao Ma Ke Gong Qihang Yang Jinpeng Wang Nan Li Pengchuan Sun Qiaoying Pei Tong Yu Jingjing Hu Xinyu Li Tong Wu Shuyan Feng Xiu-Qing Li Xiyin Wang 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:4
10Impact Assessment and Protection of Outstanding Landscape Integrity in a Natural Heritage Site:Fairy Valley,Kanas Nature Reserve,Xinjiang,China显示文摘The essential purpose of the Convention Concerning the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage is to protect the integrity of heritage values.Outstanding landscape is the core embodiment of the aesthetic value of a natural heritage site.This paper proposes a new assessment method from the point of view of the protection of heritage values.It is used to measure the degree of outstanding landscape integrity under the human and natural impact in natural heritage sites.This paper employ three indices,a visual index of outstanding landscape,a harmony index of the artificial landscape and a disturbance index of damaged landscape,to measure the impact of landscape integrity.The impact assessment model is based on a weighted combination of the three indices.The study site is the Fairy Valley,Kanas Nature Reserve,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China.The information employed is derived from field investigation and a Digital Elevation Model(DEM).A comprehensive evaluation of the Fairy valley was undertaken and it was determined that the outstanding landscape values are being compromised.Three protection methods are proposed to reduce the adverse effects and maintain landscape quality,thereby providing site managers with suggestions for the protection of natural heritage values.More broadly,the paper contributes novel methods of landscape assessment applicable to natural protected areas.HANFang YANG Zhaoping LIU Xinyu DI Feng 2011Journal of Mountain Science2011,8,1:4

12An initial discussion on major controlling factors on formation of coal-formed large-medium sas fields显示文摘The so-called 'large-medium gas field' means a gas field with proven reserves equal to or larger than 100×108 m3. Up to 1997, 23 coal-formed great-medium fields are discovered in China, excluding two in Taiwan Province. Their proven reserves take 50.9% in total natural gas reserves. Therefore, the coal-formed great-medium gas field plays a decisive role in natural gas reserves and the study of their controlling factors is very important both in theory and in practice. 14Galectin-3-centered paracrine network mediates cardiac inflammation and fibrosis upon β-adrenergic insult显示文摘Rapid over-activation of β-adrenergic receptors (β-AR) following acute stress initiates cardiac inflammation and injury by activating interleukin-18 (IL-18),however,the process of inflammation cascades has not been fully illustrated.The present study aimed to determine the mechanisms of cardiac inflammatory amplification following acute sympathetic activation.With bioinformatics analysis,galectin-3 was identified as a potential key downstream effector of β-AR and IL-18 activation.The serum level of galectin-3 was positively correlated with norepinephrine or IL-18 in patients with chest pain.In the heart of mice treated with β-AR agonist isoproterenol (ISO,5 mg kg^(-1)),galectin-3 expression was upregulated markedly later than IL-18 activation,and Nlrp3^(-/-)and Il18^(-/-)mice did not show ISO-induced galectin-3 upregulation.It was further revealed that cardiomyocyte-derived IL-18 induced galectin-3 expression in macrophages following ISO treatment.Moreover,galectin-3deficiency suppressed ISO-induced cardiac inflammation and fibrosis without blocking ISO-induced IL-18 increase.Treatment with a galectin-3 inhibitor,but not a β-blocker,one day after ISO treatment effectively attenuated cardiac inflammation and injury.In conclusion,galectin-3 is upregulated to exaggerate cardiac inflammation and injury following acute β-AR activation,a galectin-3 inhibitor effectively blocks cardiac injury one day after β-AR insult.Guomin Hu Jimin Wu Huijun Gu Xiangning Deng Wenli Xu Shan Feng Shuaixing Wang Yao Song Zhengda Pang Xiuling Deng Aleksandr E.Vendrov Nageswara R.Madamanchi Marschall S.Runge Xinyu Wang Youyi Zhang Han Xiao Erdan Dong 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,5:3

17Characteristics and prognosis of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in children and adolescents:An analysis of 464 cases from the SEER database显示文摘Importance:As the most common subtype of pediatric rhabdomyosarcoma(RMS),the prognosis of embryonal RMS has rarely been investigated solely.Objective:To perform a population-based study to characterize the prognosis of embryonal RMS in children and adolescents.Methods:Demographic and clinical features were retrospectively evaluated in selected patients with embryonal RMS registered in the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)program from 1988 to 2016.Survival curves were compared using the log-rank test.A multivariate Cox proportional hazards model was developed to assess the impact of each factor on the overall survival.A nomogram was constructed based on the results of Cox regression model.Results:A total of 464 patients were included in the analysis,among which 64.6%were male and 70.2%were white patients.About 38.6%and 26.3%of the patients were at 1-4 years and 5-9 years,respectively.Cox analysis showed that patients at age group 5-9 years had the lowest risk of mortality(hazard ratio[HR],0.277;95%confidential interval[CI],0.123-0.620),compared with patients diagnosed at less than 1-year-old,and age group 1-4 years had the second-best prognosis.Patients having distant tumors had significantly higher mortality risk(HR,4.842;95%CI,2.804-8.362)than the patients with localized tumor.Compared with receiving no surgery or radiotherapy,receiving any combination of surgery and radiotherapy would lower the risk of mortality significantly(for surgery without radiotherapy:HR,0.418;for radiotherapy without surgery:HR,0.405;and for surgery plus radiotherapy:HR,0.410).Interpretation:Age,stage at diagnosis,and treatment received were found to be the most important predictors of the overall survival of pediatric embryonal RMS.Xinyu Wang Jun Feng Zhe Li Xin Zhang Jun Chen Guoshuang Feng 2020Pediatric Investigation2020,4,4:3
18Effect of an eco-friendly o/w emulsion stabilized with amphiphilic sodium alginate derivatives on lambda-cyhalothrin adsorption-desorption on natural soil minerals显示文摘The effects of amphiphilic O/W emulsions,stabilized by the alkyl polyglycoside(APG)or cholesterol-grafted sodium alginate(CSAD)/APG systems,on lambda-cyhalothrin adsorption/desorption mechanisms on natural soil minerals(i.e.,illite and kaolinite)were investigated.Sorption and desorption of lambda-cyhalothrin onto soil minerals was studied via batch equilibration to give insight into the adsorption equilibrium,kinetics,and thermodynamics of lambda-cyhalothrin adsorption onto minerals.The results indicate the following:(i)The adsorption processes for the APG system and CSAD/APG system include:rapid adsorption,slow adsorption,and adsorption equilibrium.The adsorption kinetics of pesticide on illite and kaolinite are in accordance with the Ho and McKay model,and the adsorption isotherm conforms to the Freundlich model.In addition,the adsorption processes of pesticide for the two systems on minerals were spontaneous and feasible(ΔG^0<0),endothermic(ΔH^0>0),and mainly involved chemical bonding(ΔH^0>60).(ii)The equilibrium adsorption percentages of the pesticide on illite for the APG system and CSAD/APG system were 42.4%and 64.8%,and the corresponding equilibrium adsorption percentages on kaolinite were 40.8%and 61.8%,respectively.Moreover,the pesticide adsorption rate K_(2-CSAD/APG)was faster than K_(2-APG),and its adsorption capacity K_(f-CSAD/APG )was greater than K_(f-APG).Meanwhile,the pesticide desorption K_(fd)in the CSAD/APG system was smaller than that in the APG system.As a result,this eco-friendly O/W emulsion based on amphiphilic sodium alginate derivatives might provide a green pesticide formulation,since it could reduce the amount of lambda-cyhalothrin entering aquatic systems to threaten non-target fish and invertebrate species.Yang Peng Dunchao Xiao Gaobo Yu Yuhong Feng Jiacheng Li Xinyu Zhao Yiyuan Tang Longzheng Wang Quan Zhang 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,4:3
19Preparation and characterization of β-cyclodextrin grafted N-maleoyl chitosan nanoparticles for drug delivery显示文摘β-cyclodextrin (CD) grafted N-maleoyl chitosan (CD-g-NMCS) with two different degrees of substitution (DS) of N-maleoyl (DS = 21.2% and 30.5%) were synthesized from maleic anhydride and chitosan bearing pendant cyclodextrin (CD-g-CS). CD-g-NMCS based nanoparticles were prepared via an ionic gelation method together with chitosan and CD-g-CS nanoparticles.The size and zeta potential of prepared CD-g-NMCS nanoparticles were 179.2~274.0 nm and 36.2~42.4 m V, respectively. In vitro stability test indicated that CD-g-NMCS nanoparticles were more stable in phosphate-buffered saline compared with chitosan nanoparticles. Moreover, a poorly water-soluble drug, ketoprofen (KTP), was selected as a model drug to study the obtained nanoparticle’s potentials as drug delivery carriers. The drug loading efficiency of CD-g-NMCS20 nanoparticles were 14.8% for KTP. MTT assay showed that KTP loaded CD-g-NMCS nanoparticles were safe drug carriers. Notably, in vitro drug release studies showed that KTP was released in a sustained-release manner for the nanoparticles. The pharmacokinetic of drug loaded CD-g-NMCS20 nanoparticles were evaluated in rats after intravenous administration. The results of studies revealed that, compared with free KTP, KTP loaded CD-g-NMCS20 nanoparticles exhibited a significant increase in AUC0→24h and mean residence time by 6.6-fold and 2.9-fold, respectively. Therefore, CD-g-NMCS nanoparticles could be used as a novel promising nanoparticle-based drug delivery system for sustained release of poorly water-soluble drugs. 20The protective roles of tea tree oil extracts in bovine mammary epithelial cells and polymorphonuclear leukocytes显示文摘Background: Tea tree oil(TTO) plays an important role in antibacterial activity and alleviating the inflammatory responses. Bovine mammary epithelium and polymorphonuclear leukocytes(PMNL) can actively respond to bovine mastitis infection. However, regulatory effects of TTO extracts on the innate immune response of bovine mammary epithelial cells(BMECs) and PMNL remain not reported. Therefore, aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of TTO extracts on the m RNA levels of the genes involved in the innate immune response of BMECs and PMNL.Results: Our results demonstrated that addition of 0.025% and 0.05% TTO increased the proliferation of BMECs, and significantly enhanced(P < 0.05) the viability of BMECs exposed to Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus). An inhibitory effect was observed against the growth of S. aureus by TTO incubation. The 0.05% TTO reduced S. aureus biofilm formation, association and invasion of S. aureus to BMECs, and changed the morphological and structural features of S. aureus. The proinflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α were decreased(P < 0.001) by the incubation of TTO. Interestingly, the expression of IL-8 known for PMNL chemotactic function was elevated(P < 0.05) by 0.05%TTO treatment. Consistently, 0.05% TTO increased the migration of PMNL in S. aureus-exposed BMECs when compared with S. aureus treatment alone(P < 0.05). In addition, PMNL incubated with 0.05% TTO decreased the levels of NFKB inhibitor alpha(NFKBIA) and TNF-α.Conclusions: Our results indicate that use of TTO can relieve the BMECs pro-inflammatory response caused by S.aureus and promote the migration of PMNL to mount the innate immune responses, and it may be novel strategy for the treatment of bovine mastitis caused by S. aureus.Kang Zhan Tianyu Yang Baobao Feng Xinyu Zhu Yinyin Chen Yongjiu Huo Guoqi Zhao 2020Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,4:3
