Abnormality monitoring model of cracks in concrete dams显示文摘The abnormality monitoring model (AMM) of cracks in concrete dams is established through integrating safety monitoring theories with abnormality diagnosis methods of cracks. In addition, emphasis is placed on the influence of crack depth on crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD). A linear hypothesis is proposed for the propagation process of cracks in concrete based on the fictitious crack model (FCM). Abnormality points are detected through testing methods of dynamical structure mutation and statistical model mutation. The solution of AMM is transformed into a global optimization problem, which is solved by the particle swarm optimization (PSO) method. Therefore, the AMM of cracks in concrete dams is established and solved completely. In the end of the paper, the proposed model is validated by a typical crack at the 105 m elevation of a concrete gravity arch dam.BAO TengFei QIN Dong ZHOU XiWu WU GuiFen 2011Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,7:9
Drag increment due to internal waves generated by Rankine ovoid显示文摘The experimental results on drag increment caused by internal waves, which are generated by a Rankine ovoid towed horizontally at constant velocities in a two-layer stratified water (a strong pycnocline) initially at rest, are presented. The drag increment due to stratification is obtained experimentally as a function of internal Froude number Frd and Reynolds number Re. From the results, it is shown that as a function of Frd or Re, an increment in mean drag coefficient due to stratification ΔCd has both increasing and decreasing region attributable respectively to internal wave and to collapse of mixing fluids in the wakes. A most significant result shows that when Frd=0.838 there exists a maximum of ΔCd, which is equal to 0.05 in the exciting region of the strong internal wave generation.XU Zhaoting, ZHOU Xiwu and CHEN Xu(1. 3The spatio-temporal variation of wintertime subtidal currents in the western Taiwan Strait显示文摘A new data set of observations by six cruises of ship-mounted acoustic doppler current profiler(SADCP) and three 40 d long bottom-mounted ADCPs(BADCPs) is employed to reveal the spatiotemporal variability of tidal and subtidal currents in the western Taiwan Strait(TWS) during winter season. The results confirm the existence of intense cotidal lines for M_2 tidal current, which is located north of 25°N. In this case, no existence of an amphidromic point can be identified. It is also revealed that the counter-wind current(CWC) can extend through the whole western TWS and even occupy the entire water column during winter monsoon relaxation. However, this CWC is observed to be thoroughly overwhelmed by the downwind China coastal current(CCC) during the two big monsoon bloom events in the winter of 2007, and the CCC consequently extends southward throughout the western TWS instead. Most importantly, the variation of the spatial extent for the CWC and the CCC in the western TWS is found to be well explained by the first two modes of the vector empirical orthogonal function(VEOF) analysis, that is, it is mainly controlled by a wind-driven quasi barotropic current as the first mode and slightly modulated by a relatively weak background current with a first-order baroclinic structure as the second mode.SHEN Junqiang QIU Yun GUO Xiaogang PAN Aijun ZHOU Xiwu 2017Acta Oceanologica Sinica2017,36,11:5
TransCrowd:weakly-supervised crowd counting with transformers显示文摘The mainstream crowd counting methods usually utilize the convolution neural network(CNN)to regress a density map, requiring point-level annotations. However, annotating each person with a point is an expensive and laborious process.During the testing phase, the point-level annotations are not considered to evaluate the counting accuracy, which means the point-level annotations are redundant.Hence,it is desirable to develop weakly-supervised counting methods that just rely on count-level annotations,a more economical way of labeling.Current weakly-supervised counting methods adopt the CNN to regress a total count of the crowd by an image-to-count paradigm. However, having limited receptive fields for context modeling is an intrinsic limitation of these weakly-supervised CNN-based methods. These methods thus cannot achieve satisfactory performance, with limited applications in the real world. The transformer is a popular sequence-to-sequence prediction model in natural language processing(NLP),which contains a global receptive field. In this paper,we propose TransCrowd, which reformulates the weakly-supervised crowd counting problem from the perspective of sequence-to-count based on transformers. We observe that the proposed TransCrowd can effectively extract the semantic crowd information by using the self-attention mechanism of transformer. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to adopt a pure transformer for crowd counting research.Experiments on five benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed TransCrowd achieves superior performance compared with all the weakly-supervised CNN-based counting methods and gains highly competitive counting performance compared with some popular fully-supervised counting methods.Dingkang LIANG Xiwu CHEN Wei XU Yu ZHOU Xiang BAI 2022Science China(Information Sciences)2022,65,6:5
Loss of ARID1A Promotes Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression via Up-regulation of MYC Transcription显示文摘Background and Aims:AT-rich interactive domain-containing protein 1A(ARID1A)is frequently mutated or deficient in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).However, the role of ARID1A in HCC remains unclear. Therefore, the biological role of ARID1A in HCC was evaluated and a potential mechanism was investigated.Methods:Arid1a was knocked out in the livers of mice using the CRISPR/Cas9 system delivered by hydrodynamic tail vein injection. The development of HCC was observed in different mouse models. The correlation of ARID1A and prognosis in patients with HCC was analyzed using cBioPortal. The effect of ARID1A on cell proliferation was assessed by MTT assay following the manipulation of candidate genes.Results:ARID1A deficiency alone did not cause HCC in mice, but knockout of ARID1A accelerated liver tumorigenesis in response to diethylnitrosamine(DEN)or when a combination knockout of phosphatase and tensin homolog(Pten)plus tumor protein P53(p53)was introduced.ARID1A mutations were associated with a poorer prognosis in HCC patients. The mRNA level of MYC was significantly higher in patients with an ARID1A mutation compared to those without a mutation.Ectopic expression of ARID1A inhibited HCC cell proliferation.ARID1A knockout increased HCC cell growth and resulted in disruptions to DNA damage repair and apoptosis following radiation stress.Furthermore, mechanistic studies revealed that ARID1A inhibited the proliferation of HCC cells via transcriptional down-regulation of MYC.Conclusions:These results describe ARID1A as a tumor suppressor in the liver.A deficiency in ARID1A predicts worse survival in HCC patients and promotes HCC progression via up-regulation of MYC transcription.Yao Xiao Guodong Liu Xiwu Ouyang Denggao Zai Jixiang Zhou Xiaoli Li Qi Zhang Jie Zhao 2021Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2021,9,4:2

Parathyroid carcinoma-related severe acute pancreatitis during pregnancy:a case report and literature review显示文摘Introduction Primary hyperparathyroidism(PHPT)is caused by hyperfunctioning parathyroid adenoma, hyperplasia,or carcinoma.Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare disease affecting<1%of PHPT patients and is associated with complications such as acute pancreatitis(AP),which can be complicated by pregnancy[1].Currently,pregnant patients with AP or PHPT can only be treated empirically as there is no consensus approach. Here,we report a rare case of parathyroid carcinoma with adenomarelated AP during pregnancy. The detailed diagnosis and treatment process are described, and clinical features of similar cases are summarized. We hope to improve the diagnosis and treatment of PHPT-related pancreatitis during pregnancy.Yaxuan Zhou Qiang Wang Long Zou XiWu Aiming Yang 2023Gastroenterology Report2023,11,1:0
Characteristics and mechanisms of the intraseasonal variability of sea surface salinity in the southeastern Arabian Sea during 2015-2020显示文摘Based on Soil Moisture Active Passive sea surface salinity(SSS)data from April 2015 to August 2020,combined with Objectively Analyzed Air-Sea Heat Flux and other observational data and Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model(HYCOM)data, this work explores the characteristics and mechanisms of the intraseasonal variability of SSS in the southeastern Arabian Sea(SEAS).The results show that the intraseasonal variability of SSS in the SEAS is very significant, especially the strongest intraseasonal signal in SSS,which is located along the northeast monsoon current(NMC)path south of the Indian Peninsula. There are remarkable seasonal differences in intraseasonal SSS variability, which is very weak in spring and summer and much stronger in autumn and winter. This strong intraseasonal variability in autumn and winter is closely related to the Madden-Julian Oscillation(MJO)event during this period. The northeast wind anomaly in the Bay of Bengal(BOB)associated with the active MJO phase strengthens the East India Coastal Current and NMC and consequently induces more BOB low-salinity water to enter the SEAS,causing strong SSS fluctuations. In addition,MJO-related precipitation further amplifies the intraseasonal variability of SSS in SEAS.Based on budget analysis of the mixed layer salinity using HYCOM data,it is shown that horizontal salinity advection(especially zonal advection)dominates the intraseasonal variability of mixed layer salinity and that surface freshwater flux has a secondary role.Hui Teng Yun Qiu Xinyu Lin Xiwu Zhou 2023Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,5:0
Intra-seasonal variability of the abyssal currents in COMRA's contract area in the Clarion-Clipperton Zone显示文摘In this paper, the intra-seasonal variability of the abyssal currents in the China Ocean Mineral Resources Association(COMRA)polymetallic nodule contact area, located in the western part of the Clarion and Clipperton Fraction Zone in the tropical East Pacific,is investigated using direct observations from subsurface mooring instruments as well as sea-surface height data and reanalysis products.Mooring observations were conducted from September 13,2017 to August 15,2018 in the COMRA contact area(10°N,154°W).The results were as follows:(1)At depths below 200 m,the kinetic energy of intra-seasonal variability(20-100 d)accounts for more than 40%of the overall low-frequency variability, while the ratio reaches more than 50%below 2000 m.(2)At depths below 200 m,currents show a synchronous oscillation with a characteristic time scale of 30 d,lasting from October to the following January;the energy of the 30-d oscillation increases with depth until the layer of approximately 4616 m,and the maximum velocity is approximately 10 cm/s.(3)The 30-d oscillation of deep currents is correlated with the tropical instability waves in the upper ocean.Fangfang Kuang Jing Cha Junpeng Zhang Aijun Pan Hangyu Chen Xiwu Zhou Chunsheng Jing Xiaogang Guo 2022Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,11:0
Numerical and experimental investigation of quantitative relationship between secondary flow intensity and inviscid blade force in axial compressors显示文摘The secondary flow attracts wide concerns in the aeroengine compressors since it has become one of the major loss sources in modern high-performance compressors. But the research about the quantitative relationship between secondary flow and inviscid blade force needs to be more detailed. In this paper,a database of 889 three-dimensional linear cascades was built. An indicator, called Secondary Flow Intensity(SFI),was used to express the loss caused by secondary flow. The quantitative relationship between the SFI and inviscid blade force deterioration was researched.Blade oil flow and Computation Fluid Dynamics(CFD)results of some cascades were also used to cross-validate.Results suggested that all numerical cascade cases can be divided into 3 clusters by the SFI,which are called Clusters A,B and C in the order of the increasing SFI indicator. The corner stall, known as the strong corner separation, only happens when the SFI is high. Both calculations and oil flow experiments show that the SFI would stay at a low level if the vortex core at the endwall surface does not appear. The strong interaction of Kutta condition and endwall cross-flow is considered the dominant mechanism of higher secondary flow losses, rather than the secondary flow penetration depth on the suction surface. In conclusion, the inviscid blade force spanwise deterioration is strongly related to the SFI.The correlation of the SFI and spanwise inviscid blade force deterioration is given in this paper. The correlation could provide a quantitative reference for estimating secondary flow losses in the design.Chenghua ZHOU Zixuan YUE Hanwen GUO Xiwu LIU Donghai JIN Xingmin GUI 2023Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,10:0
