1Chinese herbal medicine reduces mortality in patients with severe and critical coronavirus disease 2019: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM)in patients with severe/critical coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).In this retrospective study,data were collected from 662 patients with severe/critical COVID-19 who were admitted to a designated hospital to treat patients with severe COVID-19 in Wuhan before March 20,2020.All patients were divided into an exposed group(CHM users)and a control group(non-users).After propensity score matching in a 1:1 ratio,156 CHM users were matched by propensity score to 156 non-users.No significant differences in seven baseline clinical variables were found between the two groups of patients.All-cause mortality was reported in 13 CHM users who died and 36 non-users who died.After multivariate adjustment,the mortality risk of CHM users was reduced by 82.2%(odds ratio 0.178,95%CI 0.076–0.418;P<0.001)compared with the non-users.Secondly,age(odds ratio 1.053,95%CI 1.023–1.084;P<0.001)and the proportion of severe/critical patients(odds ratio 0.063,95%CI 0.028–0.143;P<0.001)were the risk factors of mortality.These results show that the use of CHM may reduce the mortality of patients with severe/critical COVID-19.Guohua Chen Wen Su Jiayao Yang Dan Luo Ping Xia Wen Jia Xiuyang Li Chuan Wang Suping Lang Qingbin Meng Ying Zhang Yuhe Ke An Fan Shuo Yang Yujiao Zheng Xuepeng Fan Jie Qiao Fengmei Lian Li Wei Xiaolin Tong 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6:10

3Genome wide abnormal DNA methylome of human blastocyst in assisted reproductive technology显示文摘Proper reprogramming of parental DNA methylomes is essential for mammalian embryonic development.However,it is unknown whether abnormal methylome reprogramming occurs and is associated with the failure of embryonic development.Here we analyzed the DNA methylomes of 57 blastocysts and 29 trophectoderm samples with different morphological grades during assisted reproductive technology(ART) practices.Our data reveal that the global methylation levels of high-quality blastocysts are similar(0.30 ± 0.02,mean ± SD).while the methylation levels of low-quality blastocysts are divergent and away from those of high-quality blastocysts.The proportion of blastocysts with a methylation level falling within the range of 0.30 ± 0.02 in different grades correlates with the live birth rate for that grade.Moreover,abnormal methylated regions are associated with the failure of embryonic development.Furthermore,we can use the methylation data of cells biopsied from trophectoderm to predict the blastocyst methylation level as well as to detect the aneuploidy of the blastocysts.Our data indicate that global abnormal methylome reprogramming often occurs in human embryos,and suggest that DNA methylome is a potential biomarker in blastocyst selection in ART.Guoqiang Li Yang Yu Yong Fan Congru Li Xiaocui Xu Jialei Duan Rong Li Xiangjin Kang Xin Ma Xuepeng Chen Yuwen Ke Jie Yan Ying Lian Ping Liu Yue Zhao Hongcui Zhao Yaoyong Chen Xiaofang Sun Jianqiao Liu Jie Qiao Jiang Liu 2017Journal of Genetics and Genomics2017,44,10:5
4Impact of age and tumor size on the development of the Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon in patients with kaposiform hemangioendothelioma:a retrospective cohort study显示文摘Introduction The Kasabach–Merritt phenomenon(KMP)is a severe complication of kaposiform hemangioendothelioma(KHE).The risk factors for KMP need further investigation.Methods The medical records of patients with KHE were reviewed.Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used for the risk factors for KMP,and the area under the receiver operator characteristic(ROC)curve was used to assess the predictive power of risk factors.Results A total of 338 patients with KHE were enrolled.The incidence of KMP was 45.9%.Age of onset(P<0.001,odds ratio[OR]0.939;95%confidence interval[CI]0.914–0.966),lesion size(P<0.001,OR 1.944;95%CI 1.646–2.296),mixed type(P=0.030,OR 2.428;95%CI 1.092–5.397),deep type(P=0.010,OR 4.006;95%CI 1.389–11.556),and mediastinal or retroperitoneal lesion location(P=0.019,OR 11.864;95%CI 1.497–94.003)were correlated with KMP occurrence through multivariate logistic regression.ROC curve analysis revealed that the optimal cutoffs were 4.75 months for the age of onset(P<0.001,OR 7.206,95%CI 4.073–12.749)and a lesion diameter of 5.35 cm(P<0.001,OR 11.817,95%CI 7.084–19.714).Bounded by a lesion size of 5.35 cm,we found significant differences in tumor morphology,age of onset,treatments,and hematological parameters.Using an onset age of 4.75 months as a cutoff,we found significant differences in tumor morphology,lesion size,hematological parameters,and prognosis.Conclusion For KHE patients with an onset age<4.75 months and/or lesion diameter>5.35 cm,clinicians should be wary of the occurrence of KMP.Active management is recommended to improve the prognosis.Jiangyuan Zhou Yuru Lan Tong Qiu Xue Gong Zixin Zhang Chunshui He Qiang Peng Fan Hu Xuepeng Zhang Guoyan Lu Liqing Qiu Feiteng Kong Yongbo Zhang Siyuan Chen Yi Ji 2023Precision Clinical Medicine2023,6,2:0
5FunctionFlow:coordinating parallel tasks显示文摘With the growing allel programming,nowadays popularity of task-based partask-parallel programming libraries and languages are still with limited support for coordinating parallel tasks.Such limitation forces programmers to use additional independent components to coordinate the parallel tasks -the components can be third-party libraries or additional components in the same programming library or language.Moreover,mixing tasks and coordination components increase the difficulty of task-based programming,and blind schedulers for understanding tasks'dependencies. In this paper,we propose a task-based parallel programming library,Function Flow,which coordinates tasks in the purpose of avoiding additional independent coordination components.First,we use dependency expression to represent ubiquitous tasks'termination.The key idea behind dependency expression is to use && for both task's termination and Ⅱ for any task termination,along with the combination of dependency expressions.Second,as runtime support,we use a lightweight representation for dependency expression. Also,we use suspended-task queue to schedule tasks that still have prerequisites to run. Finally,we demonstrate Function Flow's effectiveness in two aspects,case study about implementing popular parallel patterns with FunctionFIow,and performance comparision with state-of-the-art practice,TBB.Our demonstration shows that FunctionFIow can generally coordinate parallel tasks without involving additional components,along with comparable performance with TBB.Xuepeng FAN Xiaofei LIAO Hai JIN 2019Frontiers of Computer Science2019,13,1:0
6Degradation properties of fulvic acid and its microbially driven mechanism from a partial nitritation bioreactor through multi-spectral and bioinformatic analysis显示文摘This study employed multispectral techniques to evaluate fulvic acid(FA)compositional characteristic and elucidate its biodegradation mechanisms during partial nitritation(PN)process.Results showed that FA removal efficiency(FRE)decreased from 90.22 to 23.11%when FA concentrations in the reactor were increased from 0 to 162.30 mg/L,and that molecular size,degree of aromatization and humification of the effluent FA macromolecules all increased after treatment.Microbial population analysis indicated that the proliferation of the Comamonas,OLB12 and Thauera exhibit high FA utilization capacity in lower concentrations(<50.59 mg/L),promoting the degradation and removal of macromolecular FA.In addition,the sustained increase in external FA may decrease the abundance of above functional microorganisms,resulting in a rapid drop in FRE.Furthermore,from the genetic perspective,the elevated FA levels restricted carbohydrate(ko00620,ko00010 and ko00020)and nitrogen(HAO,AMO,NIR and NOR)metabolism-related pathways,thereby impeding FA removal and total nitrogen loss associated with N_(2)O emissions.Quanhao Dou Li Zhang Tingjun Dong Zixuan Song Xuepeng Fan Yongzhen Peng Xiayan Wang Jiachun Yang 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,1:0

8Structure and strain tunings of topological anomalous Hall effect in cubic noncollinear antiferromagnet Mn3Pt epitaxial films显示文摘Antiferromagnets(AFMs)with chiral noncollinear spin structure have attracted great attention in recent years.However,the existing research has mainly focused on hexagonal chiral AFMs,such as Mn3Sn,Mn3Ga,Mn3Ge with low crystalline symmetry.Here,we present our systematical study for the face-centered cubic noncollinear antiferromagnetic Mn3Pt.By varying the alloy composition(x),we have successfully fabricated antiferromagnetic Mn1-xPtx epitaxial films on MgO substrates and have observed a crystalline structure transition from L10 MnPt to L12 Mn3Pt.The Mn3Pt exhibits a large anomalous Hall effect,which is in the same order of magnitude as those of ferromagnetic materials.Moreover,a large thickness-evolved strain effect is revealed in Mn3Pt films by X-ray diffraction(XRD)analysis based on the Scherrer method.Our work explores Mn3Pt as a promising candidate for topological antiferromagnetic spintronics.Ning An Meng Tang Shuai Hu HuangLin Yang WeiJia Fan ShiMing Zhou XuePeng Qiu 2020Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2020,63,9:0
