2Effect of carbon addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of CoCrFeNi high entropy alloy显示文摘The effects of C element on the microstructure and properties of CoCrFeNiCx high entropy alloys(x denoted the atomic fraction of C element at 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.5) were investigated. The equal molar CoCrFeNi alloy with FCC structure exhibits high ductility but weak strength. With the addition of C element, both the hardness and strength of the CoCrFeNiCx high entropy alloys increase as well as the wear resistance. 3A promising new class of irradiation tolerant materials:Ti_2ZrHfV_(0.5)Mo_(0.2) high-entropy alloy显示文摘Recently, high-entropy alloys(HEAs) or multi-principal-element alloys with unprecedented physical,chemical, and mechanical properties, have been considered as candidate materials used in advanced reactors due to their promising irradiation resistant behavior. Here, we report a new single-phase bodycentered cubic(BCC) structured Ti_2 ZrHfV_(0.5)Mo_(0.2) HEA possessing excellent irradiation resistance, i.e.,scarcely irradiation hardening and abnormal lattice constant reduction after helium-ion irradiation,which is completely different from conventional alloys. This is the first time to report the abnormal XRD phenomenon of metallic alloys and almost no hardening after irradiation. These excellent properties make it to be a potential candidate material used as core components in next-generation nuclear reactors. 6Improving Plant Genome Editing with High-Fidelity xCas9 and Non-canonical PAM-Targeting Cas9-NG显示文摘Two recently engineered SpCas9 variants, namely xCas9 and Cas9-NG, show promising potential in improving targeting specificity and broadening the targeting range. In this study, we evaluated these Cas9 variants in the model and crop plant, rice. We first tested xCas9-3.7, the most effective xCas9 variant in mammalian cells, for targeted mutagenesis at 16 possible NGN PAM (protospacer adjacent motif) combinations in duplicates. xCas9 exhibited nearly equivalent editing efficiency to wild-type Cas9 (Cas9-WT) at most canonical NGG PAM sites tested, whereas it showed limited activity at non-canonical NGH (H = A, C, T) PAM sites. High editing efficiency of xCas9 at NGG PAMs was further demonstrated with C to T base editing by both rAPOBECI and PmCDAI cytidine deaminases. With mismatched sgRNAs, we found that xCas9 had improved targeting specificity over the Cas9-WT. Furthermore, we tested two Cas9-NG variants, Cas9-NGv1 and Cas9-NG, for targeting NGN PAMs. Both Cas9-NG variants showed higher editing efficiency at most non-canonical NG PAM sites tested, and enabled much more efficient editing than xCas9 at AT-rich PAM sites such as GAT, GAA, and CAA. Nevertheless, we found that Cas9-NG variants showed significant reduced activity at the canonical NGG PAM sites. In stable transgenic rice lines, we demonstrated that Cas9-NG had much higher editing efficiency than Cas9-NGv1 and xCas9 at NG PAM sites. To expand the base-editing scope, we developed an efficient C to T base-editing system by making fusion of Cas9-NG nickase (D10A version), PmCDAI, and UGI. 7The Late Carboniferous–Early Permian Ocean-Continent Transition in the West Junggar,Central Asian Orogenic Belt: Constraints from Columnar Jointed Rhyolite显示文摘The West Junggar of the western Central Asian Orogenic Belt is one of the typical regions in the term of ocean subduction, contraction and continental growth in the Late Paleozoic. However, it is still controversial on the exact time of ocean-continent transition so far. This study investigates rhyolites with columnar joint in the West Junggar for the first time.Based on zircon U-Pb dating, we determined that the ages of the newly-discovered rhyolites are between 303.6 and 294.5 Ma, belonging to Late Carboniferous–Early Permian, which is the oldest rhyolite with columnar joint preserved in the world at present. Geochemical results show that the characteristics of the major element compositions include a high content of SiO_2(75.78–79.20 wt%) and a moderate content of Al_2O_3(12.21–13.19 wt%). The total alkali content(K_2O +Na_2O) is 6.14–8.05 wt%, among which K_2O is 2.09–4.72 wt% and the rate of K_2O/Na_2O is 0.38–3.05. Over-based minerals such as Ne, Lc, and Ac do not appear. The contents of TiO_2(0.09–0.24 wt%), CaO(0.15–0.99 wt%) and MgO(0.06–0.18 wt%) are low. A/CNK=0.91–1.68, A/NK=1.06–1.76, and as such, these are associated with the quasi-aluminum-weak peraluminous high potassium calc-alkaline and some calc-alkaline magma series. These rhyolites show a significant negative Eu anomaly with relative enrichment of LREE and LILE(Rb, Ba, Th, U, K) and depletion of Sr, HREE and HFSE(Nb, Ta, Ti, P). These rhyolites also have the characteristics of an A2-type granite, similar to the Miaoergou batholith,which indicates they both were affected by post-orogenic extension. 8Heterogeneous parallel computing accelerated iterative subpixel digital image correlation显示文摘Parallel computing techniques have been introduced into digital image correlation(DIC) in recent years and leads to a surge in computation speed. The graphics processing unit(GPU)-based parallel computing demonstrated a surprising effect on accelerating the iterative subpixel DIC, compared with CPU-based parallel computing. In this paper, the performances of the two kinds of parallel computing techniques are compared for the previously proposed path-independent DIC method, in which the initial guess for the inverse compositional Gauss-Newton(IC-GN) algorithm at each point of interest(POI) is estimated through the fast Fourier transform-based cross-correlation(FFT-CC) algorithm. Based on the performance evaluation, a heterogeneous parallel computing(HPC) model is proposed with hybrid mode of parallelisms in order to combine the computing power of GPU and multicore CPU. A scheme of trial computation test is developed to optimize the configuration of the HPC model on a specific computer. 10Enhanced antibacterial behavior of a novel Cu-bearing high-entropy alloy显示文摘Contact infection of bacteria and viruses has been a critical threat to human health. The worldwideoutbreak of COVID-19 put forward urgent requirements for the research and development of the selfantibacterial materials, especially the antibacterial alloys. Based on the concept of high-entropy alloys, thepresent work designed and prepared a novel Co_(0.4)FeCr_(0.9)Cu_(0.3) antibacterial high-entropy alloy with superior antibacterial properties without intricate or rigorous annealing processes, which outperform the antibacterial stainless steels. The antibacterial tests presented a 99.97% antibacterial rate against Escherichiacoli and a 99.96% antibacterial rate against Staphylococcus aureus after 24 h. In contrast, the classic antibacterial copper-bearing stainless steel only performed the 71.50% and 80.84% antibacterial rate, respectively. The results of the reactive oxygen species analysis indicated that the copper ion release and theimmediate contact with copper-rich phase had a synergistic effect in enhancing antibacterial properties.Moreover, this alloy exhibited excellent corrosion resistance when compared with the classic antibacterialstainless steels, and the compression test indicated the yield strength of the alloy was 1015 MPa. 11Recent advances of pharmaceutical crystallization theories显示文摘As a technology of separation and purification,crystallization plays a vital role in diverse industries such as inorganic salt,pharmaceutical,and food industries,which has a huge impact on purity,crystal polymorph,crystal morphology,and particle size distribution of final products.In the past few decades,with the rapid advancement of experimental approaches and molecular simulation methods,considerable advances in the interpretation of crystallization mechanisms have been obtained,promoting the investigation and understanding of crystallization theories greatly.In this review,the advances of pharmaceutical crystallization theories in recent years from the perspectives of nucleation and crystal growth are summarized and discussed.Two thermodynamic models that are helpful in the study of the crystallization mechanisms will be introduced.In this section,the perturbed-chain statistical associating fluid theory(PC-SAFT)and a chemical-potential-gradient model will be introduced,which have been successfully applied in pharmaceutical solubility prediction,the research of dissolution mechanism as well as dissolution kinetics analysis.These two models are expected to be applied to the study of pharmaceutical crystallization process and mechanism.Furthermore,molecular simulation based on the interaction between particles can provide structural information,thermodynamics,and dynamics properties of complex systems at the molecular level,like intermolecular interaction and surface adsorption energies.Application and some shortcomings of molecular simulation,especially molecular dynamics simulation,in the field of pharmaceutical crystallization will be expounded.Jingyun Weng Yiping Huang Dule Hao Yuanhui Ji 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,4:5

14High-order mode lasing in all-FMF laser cavities显示文摘We experimentally demonstrate two kinds of all few-mode fiber(FMF) ring lasers with high-order mode(HOM)oscillation in the laser cavity. One kind is a switchable-wavelength all-FMF HOM laser with an output of tunable optical vortex beams(OVBs); the other is a Q-switched all-FMF HOM laser with an output of pulsed cylindrical vector beams(CVBs). The lasers are composed of all-FMF components and few-mode erbium-doped fiber. A Sagnac interferometer made of a 3 dB FMF coupler functions as the wavelength selector, and switchable multiwavelength tunable OVBs are experimentally realized. Carbon nanotube-based saturable absorbers and the nonlinear polarization rotation technique are used to achieve Q-switched CVB lasers. 15Liquid modified photonic crystal fiber for simultaneous temperature and strain measurement显示文摘A liquid modified photonic crystal fiber(PCF)integrated with an embedded directional coupler and multi-mode interferometer is fabricated by infiltrating three adjacent air holes of the innermost layer with standard 1.48 refractive index liquids.The refractive index of the filled liquid is higher than that of background silica,which can not only support the transmitting rod modes but also the'liquid modified core'modes propagating between the PCF core and the liquid rods.Hence,the light propagating in the liquid modified core can be efficiently coupled into the satellite waveguides under the phase-matching conditions,resulting in a dramatic decrease of the resonant wavelength intensity.Furthermore,there is a multi-mode interference produced by modified core modes and rod modes.Such a compact(~0.91 cm)device integrated with an embedded coupler and interferometer is demonstrated for high-sensitivity simultaneous temperature(~14.72 nm∕℃)and strain(~13.01 pm∕με)measurement.CHUPAO LIN YING WANG YIJIAN HUANG CHANGRUI LIAO ZHIYONG BAI MAOXIANG HOU ZHENGYONG LI YIPING WANG 2017Photonics Research2017,5,2:3

17B7-DC (PD-L2) costimulation of CD4^(+) T-helper 1 response via RGMb显示文摘The role of B7-DC in T-cell responses remains controversial because both coinhibitory and costimulatory functions have been reported in various experimental systems in vitro and in vivo.In addition to interacting with the coinhibitory receptor PD-1,B7-DC has also been shown to bind repulsive guidance molecule b(RGMb).The functional consequences of the B7-DC/RGMb interaction,however,remain unclear.More than a decade ago,we reported that replacement of a murine B7-DC mutant lysine with serine(K113S)at positive 113 resulted in a loss of binding capacity to PD-1.Nevertheless,K113S remained costimulatory for T cells in vitro,implicating a dual functionality for B7-DC in T-cell responses.Here we show that recombinant K113S protein interacts with RGMb with a similar affinity to wild-type B7-DC.More importantly,K113S costimulates CD4^(+)T-cell responses via RGMb and promotes Th1 polarization.RGMb is expressed on the surface of naive mouse T cells,macrophages,neutrophils and dendritic cells.Finally,K113S/RGMb costimulation suppresses Th2-mediated asthma and ameliorates small airway inflammation and lung pathology in an experimental mouse model.Our findings indicate that RGMb is a costimulatory receptor for B7-DC.These findings from the K113S variant provide not only a possible explanation for the B7-DC-triggered contradictory effects on T-cell responses,but also a novel approach to investigate the B7-DC/PD-1/RGMb axis.Recombinant K113S or its derivatives could potentially be developed as an agonist for RGMb to costimulate the Th1 response without triggering PD-1-mediated T-cell inhibition.Xinxin Nie Wenni Chen Ying Zhu Baozhu Huang Weiwei Yu Zhanshuai Wu Sizheng Guo Yiping Zhu Liqun Luo Shengdian Wang Lieping Chen 2018Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,10:3
