1Does urodynamics predict voiding after benign prostatic hyperplasia surgery in patients with detrusor underactivity?显示文摘Objective:We sought to determine if urodynamic study(UDS)predicted voiding outcomes in men with detrusor underactivity(DU)and benign prostatic enlargement(BPE)who underwent photovaporization of the prostate(PVP).Methods:Between September 2010 and July 2015,106 male patients with BPE and DU were identified.All patients underwent PVP.Urinary retention was noted by the preoperative necessity for an indwelling or intermittent catheter.Data collection included comorbidities,quality of life(QoL)scores,prostate volume,prostate-specific antigen(PSA),UDS and perioperative outcomes.UDS parameters included volume at first desire to void,volume at first urge to void,volume of severe urge,volume at capacity,compliance,detrusor contractions,maximum urinary flow rate(Qmax),and postvoid residual(PVR).Results:A total of 106 men were included in this analysis,who had urinary retention with a Foley catheter or clean intermittent catheterization(CIC)at the time of surgery.At baseline we found patients who voided had a detrusor pressure at Qmax(Pdet@Qmax)of 10.05±6.45 cmH2O compared to 16.78±12.17 cmH2O in those who did not void(p=0.071).Postoperatively,96(90.6%,mean age 76.9±26.2 years)of patients voided successfully while 10(9.4%,mean age 80.52±9.61 years)of patients remained in urinary retention.Mean baseline Qmax was 4.895±5.452 mL/s and 2.900±3.356 mL/s(p=0.087)in those who voided and did not respectively.PVR was 319.23±330.62 mL in those who voided and 276.88263.27 mL(p=0.344)in those who did not void.No UDS parameter predicted who would void postoperatively or improvements in QoL.Conclusions:The patients with DU and BPE might be able to successfully void after undergoing PVP regardless of UDS findings.All men who voided had improved international prostate symptom score and QoL scores compared to baseline and these parameters were durable up to 12 months.Dominique Thomas Kevin C.Zorn Nadir Zaidi Stephanie Ashley Chen Yiye Zhang Alexis Te Bilal Chughtai 2019Asian Journal of Urology2019,6,3:8
2Antineoplastic activities of Gd@C_(82)(OH)_(22) nanoparticles: tumor microenvironment regulation显示文摘Malignant tumors are complex organs consisting of tumor cells and their microenvironment. Increasing evidence has shown that the tumor microenvironment is critical to the initiation and progression of tumors. Rational design of tumor therapies via targeting the tumor microenvironment to inhibit tumor growth is thus becoming a consensus strategy. Gd@C 82 (OH) 22 nanoparticles, as novel endohedral hydroxylated metallofullerenes, have been demonstrated to be a potent antitumor nanomedicine via targeting multiple factors in the tumor microenvironment. Gd@C 82 (OH) 22 nanoparticles possess excellent biocompatibility and remarkable antineoplastic activity, as a result not of direct tumor cytotoxicity but of their diverse biological effects, including antioxidation, immune activation, angiogenesis inhibition, imprisoning cancer cells, and reversal of drug-resistance. 3Van der Waals two-color infrared photodetector显示文摘With the increasing demand for multispectral information acquisition,infrared multispectral imaging technology that is inexpensive and can be miniaturized and integrated into other devices has received extensive attention.However,the widespread usage of such photodetectors is still limited by the high cost of epitaxial semiconductors and complex cryogenic cooling systems.Here,we demonstrate a noncooled two-color infrared photodetector that can provide temporal-spatial coexisting spectral blackbody detection at both near-infrared and mid-infrared wavelengths.This photodetector consists of vertically stacked back-to-back diode structures.The two-color signals can be effectively separated to achieve ultralow crosstalk of~0.05%by controlling the built-in electric field depending on the intermediate layer,which acts as an electron-collecting layer and hole-blocking barrier.The impressive performance of the two-color photodetector is verified by the specific detectivity(D^(*))of 6.4×10^(9)cm Hz^(1/2)W^(−1)at 3.5μm and room temperature,as well as the promising NIR/MWIR two-color infrared imaging and absolute temperature detection.Peisong Wu Lei Ye Lei Tong Peng Wang Yang Wang Hailu Wang Haonan Ge Zhen Wang Yue Gu Kun Zhang Yiye Yu Meng Peng Fang Wang Min Huang Peng Zhou Weida Hu 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,2:2

13Analytical methods for nano-bio interface interactions显示文摘Knowledge on the interactions between engineered nanomaterials(ENMs) and biological systems is critical both for the assessment of biological effects of ENMs and for the rational design of ENM-based products. However, probing the events that occur at the nano-bio interface remains extremely challenging due to their complex and dynamic nature. So far, the understanding of mechanisms underlying nano-bio interactions has been mainly limited by the lack of proper analytical techniques with sufficient sensitivity, selectivity and resolution for characterization of nano-bio interface events. Moreover, many classic bioanalytical methods are not suitable for direct measurement of nano-bio interface interactions. These have made establishing analytical methodologies for systematic and comprehensive study of nano-bio interface one of the most focused areas in nanobiology. In this review we have discussed some representative developments regarding analytical techniques for nano-bio interface characterization, including the improvements of traditional methods and the emergence of powerful new technologies. 20Evaluation of P-glycoprotein-targeting circulating microRNAs as peripheral biomarkers for medically intractable epilepsy显示文摘Background Early diagnosis of medically intractable epilepsy is challenging in clinical work.P-glycoprotein(P-gp)is one of the most important multidrug efux transporters,which has been demonstrated to contribute to the drug resistance of intractable epilepsy.The present study was aimed to explore the diagnostic value of microRNAs(miRNAs)targeting P-gp for medically intractable epilepsy.Methods Thirty-six patients with intractable epilepsy and 36 epilepsy patients responsive to anti-epilepsy drugs,who visited Jinshan Hospital of Fudan University from September 2014 to September 2016,were enrolled in this study.Clinical information of the patients was obtained by retrospectively reviewing medical records.MiRNAs with diferential serum expression between the two groups of patients were detected by microarray assay.Meanwhile,miRNAs that were confrmed to regulate P-gp in vitro by western blot were selected for further validation.In the validation phase,reverse transcription quantitative PCR(RT-qPCR)was conducted to confrm the diferential expression of the candidate miRNAs in the epilepsy cohorts.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis was carried out to evaluate the diagnostic value of the miRNAs for intractable epilepsy.Results Three miRNAs including miR-6514-3p,miR-6076-5p,and miR-6855-3p were identifed to be candidate miRNAs by microarray assay.The results of western blotting validated that miR-146a-5p and miR-138-5p could regulate P-gp expression in vitro,so they were included in the candidate miRNAs for further validation.In the validation phase,the results of RT-qPCR indicated that compared with drug-responsive patients,the patients with intractable epilepsy showed decreased level of miR-138-5p and increased level of miR-146a-5p.The results of ROC curve analysis indicated that miR-138-5p(AUC=0.877)and miR-146a-5p(AUC=0.866)had high diagnostic value for intractable epilepsy.In addition,the miR-panel composed of miR-138-5p and miR-146a-5p showed higher diagnostic value(AUC=0.926)than the miRNAs selected by microarray assay.Conclusions Our results indicated that the dysregulated miR-138-5p and miR-146a-5p which target P-gp expression have high potential as peripheral biomarkers for medically intractable epilepsy.Yangmei Xie Yiye Shao Xue Gong Ming Wang Yinghui Chen 2023Acta Epileptologica2023,6,1:0
