| 1 | The State of the Art of Data Science and Engineering in Structural Health Monitoring显示文摘Structural health monitoring (SHM) is a multi-discipline field that involves the automatic sensing of structural loads and response by means of a large number of sensors and instruments, followed by a diagnosis of the structural health based on the collected data. Because an SHM system implemented into a structure automatically senses, evaluates, and warns about structural conditions in real time, massive data are a significant feature of SHM. The techniques related to massive data are referred to as data science and engineering, and include acquisition techniques, transition techniques, management techniques, and processing and mining algorithms for massive data. This paper provides a brief review of the state of the art of data science and engineering in SHM as investigated by these authors, and covers the compressive sampling-based data-acquisition algorithm, the anomaly data diagnosis approach using a deep learning algorithm, crack identification approaches using computer vision techniques, and condition assessment approaches for bridges using machine learning algorithms. | 2 | Annual cost of illness of stomach and esophageal cancer patientsin urban and rural areas in China: A multi-center study显示文摘Objective: Stomach and esophageal cancer are imposing huge threats to the health of Chinese people whereas there were few studies on the financial burden of the two cancers.Methods: Costs per hospitalization of all patients with stomach or esophageal cancer discharged between September 2015 and August 2016 in seven cities/counties in China were collected, together with their demographic information and clinical details. Former patients in the same hospitals were sampled to collect information on annual direct non-medical cost, indirect costs and annual number of hospitalization. Annual direct medical cost was obtained by multiplying cost per hospitalization by annual number of hospitalization. Annual cost of illness(ACI)was obtained by adding the average value of annual direct medical cost, direct non-medical cost and indirect cost,stratified by sex, age, clinical stage, therapy and pathologic type in urban and rural areas. Costs per hospitalization were itemized into eight parts to calculate the proportion of each part. All costs were converted to 2016 US dollars(1 USD=6.6423 RMB).Results: Totally 19,986 cases were included, predominately male. Mean ages of stomach cancer and urban patients were lower than that of esophageal cancer and rural patients. ACI of stomach and esophageal cancer patients were $10,449 and $13,029 in urban areas, and $2,927 and $3,504 in rural areas, respectively. Greater ACI was associated with male, non-elderly patients as well as those who were in stage I and underwent surgeries.Western medicine fee took the largest proportion of cost per hospitalization.Conclusions: The ACI of stomach and esophageal cancer was tremendous and varied substantially among the population in China. | 4 | Microstructure, porosity and mechanical properties of selective laser melted AlSi10Mg显示文摘Finite element modeling(FEM),microscopy,X-ray computed tomography(CT)and mechanical property tests were used to study the microstructure,porosity and mechanical properties of an AlSi10Mg alloy produced by selective laser melting(SLM).The simulation of the melt pool and thermal history under different energy densities produced an optimized result with an energy density of 44.5 J·mm-3.The high cooling rate during the SLM process significantly refined the previous a-Al dendrites.The growth direction of the network-like Al-Si eutectic structure at different orientations confirmed the anisotropic nature of the microstructure.Furthermore,the microhardness,tensile testing and fracture analysis results proved that there were no obvious distinctions in the strength between the transverse and longitudinal directions,and that the ductility was anisotropic,possibly due to the shape and distribution of the pores.The pores measured by X-ray CT at different energy densities confirmed that the sphericity of the pores was inversely related to pores volumes.With optimized processing conditions,the porosity of the selective laser melted sample decreased leading to the improved fabricated fuel system component via SLM. | Jing CHEN Wei HOU Xiuzhuan WANG Songlin CHU Zhiyi YANG | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2020,33,7: | 9 |

| 9 | Polysaccharide,proline,and anti-oxidation enzyme activities of Thailand rosewood(Dalbergia cochinchinensis)seedlings exposed to exponential fertilization显示文摘Thailand rosewood(Dalbergia cochinchinensis)is a vulnerable high value tree species in subtropical and tropical Southeast Asia.The demand for the rehabilitation of the natural habitat of the species requires high-quality seedlings.However,current fertilizer regimes tend to deliver a coarse rate of fertilizers that result in a low uptake efficiency and a high risk of nutrient excess.Exponential fertilization is an effective approach to promote seedling quality through identifying an optimum dose out of a range of applications.In this study,Thailand rosewood seedlings were cultured in a mixed substrate of perlite,vermiculite,and peat(2:2:3,v/v/v)and received exponential fertilization from 0(control),through 100,200,300,400,and 600 mg nitrogen(N)per plant over a four-month cultural rotation.Height,diameter,and shoot biomass increased with fertilizer rate and were maximized at 300 mg N per plant.This application also reduced nutrient deficiencies and avoided excess supply compared to higher rates.Polysaccharide,proline,and anti-oxidation enzyme activities tended to be greater in unfertilized controls or in over-fertilized high dosages,with lower activities around 100–300 mg N plant(-1).Application of 300 mg N per plant was identified as the optimum dosage as it maximized nutrient reserves,polysaccharide and proline contents,and anti-oxidants without causing any symptoms from excess fertilizer toxicity.Future work is required to identify the effects of N-fixation on the formation of nutritional reserves in Thailand rosewood seedlings subjected to exponential fertilization. | Zhou Hong Junyu Guo Ningnan Zhang Zengjiang Yang Xiaojing Liu Zhiyi Cui Daping Xu | 2022 | Journal of Forestry Research2022,33,1: | 4 |

| 12 | The influence of Stokes drift on oil spills:Sanchi oil spill case显示文摘Spilled oil floats and travels across the water’s surface under the influence of wind,currents,and wave action.Wave-induced Stokes drift is an important physical process that can affect surface water particles but that is currently absent from oil spill analyses.In this study,two methods are applied to determine the velocity of Stokes drift,the first calculates velocity from the wind-related formula based upon a one-dimensional frequency spectrum,while the second determines velocity directly from the wave model that was based on a twodimensional spectrum.The experimental results of numerous models indicated that:(1)oil simulations that include the influence of Stokes drift are more accurate than that those do not;(2)for medium and long-term simulations longer than two days or more,Stokes drift is a significant factor that should not be ignored,and its magnitude can reach about 2%of the wind speed;(3)the velocity of Stokes drift is related to the wind but is not linear.Therefore,Stokes drift cannot simply be replaced or substituted by simply increasing the wind drift factor,which can cause errors in oil spill projections;(4)the Stokes drift velocity obtained from the two-dimensional wave spectrum makes the oil spill simulation more accurate. | Yiqiu Yang Yan Li Juan Li Jingui Liu Zhiyi Gao Kaixuan Guo Han Yu | 2021 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2021,40,10: | 3 |

| 15 | Effects of weeding and fertilization on soil biology and biochemical processes and tree growth in a mixed stand of Dalbergia odorifera and Santalum album显示文摘In southern China,the eucalyptus plantation industry has been severely restricted by government policy over concerns on negative environmental impacts.In its place,large-scale plantations of high-value tropical tree species such as nitrogen-fixing Dalbergia odorifera and hemiparasite Santalum album have been widely cultivated including in mixed-species plantations.However,despite their poor growth,little information is available on suitable silvicultural practices of these plantations.Therefore,we subjected an 8-year-old mixed stand of D.odorifera and S.album to weeding,fertilization,weeding+fertilization,or no(CK)treatments and measured soil microbial biomass,respiration,nutrients,nitrogen mineralization and leaching and tree growth and litter production.Weeding and fertilization decreased microbial biomass but increased soil respiration,inhibited mineralization,had not effect on leaching of soil nitrogen,and improved the nutrient status of plantation soil.All practices improved the growth of D.odorifera.In the mixed plantation,fertilization increased litter production and nutrient content,but weeding and weeding+fertilization decreased growth of S.album and litter production in mixed plantation because weeding decreased the number of S.album haustoria in underground plant roots.In conclusion,fertilization is recommended;however,weeding-related practices are inappropriate for D.odorifera and S.album mixed plantations.These conclusions have important implications for managing other parasite or mixed-species plantations. | Peng Zhang Xiaofei Li Shiyu Xue Zhiyi Cui Daping Xu Zengjiang Yang | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,6: | 2 |

| 17 | Towards carbon neutrality:A study on China's long-term low-carbon transition pathways and strategies显示文摘As the world's biggest carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emitter and the largest developing country,China faces daunting challenges to peak its emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality within 40 years.This study fully considered the carbon-neutrality goal and the temperature rise constraints required by the Paris Agreement,by developing six long-term development scenarios,and conducting a quantitative evaluation on the carbon emissions pathways,energy transformation,technology,policy and investment demand for each scenario.This study combined both bottom-up and top-down methodologies,including simulations and analyses of energy consumption of end-use and power sectors(bottom-up),as well as scenario analysis,investment demand and technology evaluation at the macro level(top-down).This study demonstrates that achieving carbon neutrality before 2060 translates to significant efforts and overwhelming challenges for China.To comply with the target,a high rate of an average annual reduction of CO_(2) emissions by 9.3%from 2030 to 2050 is a necessity,which requires a huge investment demand.For example,in the 1.5℃ scenario,an investment in energy infrastructure alone equivalent to 2.6%of that year's GDP will be necessary.The technological pathway towards carbon neutrality will rely highly on both conventional emission reduction technologies and breakthrough technologies.China needs to balance a long-term development strategy of lower greenhouse gas emissions that meets both the Paris Agreement and the long-term goals for domestic economic and social development,with a phased implementation for both its five-year and long-term plans. | Jiankun He Zheng Li Xiliang Zhang Hailin Wang Wenjuan Dong Ershun Du Shiyan Chang Xunmin Ou Siyue Guo Zhiyu Tian Alun Gu Fei Teng Bin Hu Xiu Yang Siyuan Chen Mingtao Yao Zhiyi Yuan Li Zhou Xiaofan Zhao Ying Li Danwei Zhang | 2022 | Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2022,,1: | 2 |
