| 1 | A numerical study on salinity stratification at the Oujiang River Estuary, China显示文摘The Oujiang River Estuary(ORE)is a macrotidal estuary with drastic variation of river discharge and large tidal range.Numerical simulations based on the unstructured grid,Finite-Volume,primitive equation Community Ocean Model(FVCOM)are conducted to investigate the intratidal and intertidal variations of salinity with an extremely upstream river boundary and large computational domain.The dynamic equation of potential energy anomaly is adopted to evaluate the stratification and mixing processes from model results.Meanwhile,the stability of estuarine stratification on different timescales and its spatial variation are studied using estuarine Richardson number and stratification parameter.The critical values of tidal range and river discharge that determine the stratification state are obtained.The critical values exhibit distinct spatial difference.The north branch of the ORE exhibits well-mixed conditions when the tidal range exceeds 3.8,4.0 and 4.6m at upper inlet,middle segment and the river mouth,respectively.When river discharge is below 280 m^3/s or exceeds 510 m^3/s,the upper part of the north branch is well-mixed sustainably.Near the river mouth,river discharge of 280 m^3/s is a rough critical value that separates well-mixed and stratified states.It is also concluded that periodic stratification exists in the North Channel.The lower estuary appears to be partially stratified at early ebb or early flood tide,and well-mixed in other tidal stages.The stratification only develops during early ebb in the upper segment.The enhancement of stratification is mainly caused by longitudinal advection and lateral velocity shear,while turbulent mixing and longitudinal tidal strain are the main factors of stratification attenuation. | Yichun Li Jingui Liu | 2019 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2019,38,11: | 4 |
| 2 | The influence of Stokes drift on oil spills:Sanchi oil spill case显示文摘Spilled oil floats and travels across the water’s surface under the influence of wind,currents,and wave action.Wave-induced Stokes drift is an important physical process that can affect surface water particles but that is currently absent from oil spill analyses.In this study,two methods are applied to determine the velocity of Stokes drift,the first calculates velocity from the wind-related formula based upon a one-dimensional frequency spectrum,while the second determines velocity directly from the wave model that was based on a twodimensional spectrum.The experimental results of numerous models indicated that:(1)oil simulations that include the influence of Stokes drift are more accurate than that those do not;(2)for medium and long-term simulations longer than two days or more,Stokes drift is a significant factor that should not be ignored,and its magnitude can reach about 2%of the wind speed;(3)the velocity of Stokes drift is related to the wind but is not linear.Therefore,Stokes drift cannot simply be replaced or substituted by simply increasing the wind drift factor,which can cause errors in oil spill projections;(4)the Stokes drift velocity obtained from the two-dimensional wave spectrum makes the oil spill simulation more accurate. | Yiqiu Yang Yan Li Juan Li Jingui Liu Zhiyi Gao Kaixuan Guo Han Yu | 2021 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2021,40,10: | 3 |

| 4 | Resveratrol Induces Apoptosis in Human Osteosarcoma MG63 Cells显示文摘OBJECTIVE To investigate apoptosis in human osteosarcoma MG63 cells induced by resveratrol and the molecular mechanism involved.METHODS MG63 cells were treated with different concentrations of resveratrol and transmission electron microscopy was used to observe morphological changes occurring in apoptosis.The MTT method was used to determine the inhibitory rate and flow cytometry was used to assess apoptosis and to analyze the expression of the p21cip1/WAF1 and survivin proteins;the expression of p21cip1/WAF1 and survivin mRNAs was analyzed by the reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).RESULTS A er resveratrol treatment,the growth of the MG63 cells was significantly inhibited in a time-and dose-dependent fashion.By transmission electron microscopy,the cells displayed morphological changes characteristic of apoptosis,including formation of cytoplasmic vacuoles,chromatin condensation and margination.Flow cytometry showed that the growth of the cells was inhibited a er resveratrol(10 mg/L and 20 mg/L) treatment.The inhibitory rates were(11.9 ± 0.63)% and(19.7 ± 0.88)% respectively.The quantity of treated cells in G0/G1 transition was increased,but the number in the S phase and G2/M transition was decreased.A subdiploid peak was observed.The expression of p21cip1/WAF1 was up-regulated while survivin was down-regulated.CONCLUSION Resveratrol can inhibit growth and induce apoptosis of MG63 cells.Its molecular mechanism might be related to modulation of survivin and p21cip1/WAF1 expression. | Yan Liu Xin Wang Yuxin Xie Jingui Zhang Qingshan Wang Xianhui Xu | 2008 | Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology2008,5,5: | 1 |

| 7 | Human Cytomegalovirus Influences Host circRNA Transcriptions during Productive Infection显示文摘Human cytomegalovirus(HCMV)is a double-strand DNA virus widely infected in human.Circular RNAs(circ RNAs)are non-coding RNAs with most functions of which keep unknown,and the effects of HCMV productive infection on host circ RNA transcriptions remain unclear.In this study,we profiled 283 host circ RNAs that significantly altered by HCMV productive infection in human embryonic lung fibroblasts(HELF)by RNA deep sequencing and bioinformatics analysis.Among these,circ SP100,circ MAP3 K1,circ PLEKHM1,and circ TRIO were validated for their transcriptions and sequences.Furthermore,characteristics of circ SP100 were investigated by RT-q PCR and northern blot.It was implied that circ SP100 was produced from the sense strand of the SP100 gene containing six exons.Kinetics of circ SP100 and SP100 m RNA were significantly different after infection:circ SP100 levels increased gradually along with infection,whereas SP100 m RNA levels increased in the beginning and dropped at 24 h post-infection(hpi).Meanwhile,a total number of 257 proteins,including 10 HCMV encoding proteins,were identified potentially binding to cytoplasmic circ SP100 by RNA antisense purification(RAP)and mass spectrometry.Enrichment analysis showed these proteins were mainly involved in the spliceosome,protein processing,ribosome,and phagosome pathways,suggesting multiple functions of circ SP100 during HCMV infection. | Jingui Deng Yujing Huang Qing Wang Jianming Li Yanping Ma Ying Qi Zhongyang Liu Yibo Li Qiang Ruan | 2021 | Virologica Sinica2021,36,2: | 1 |

| 12 | Comparison of genetic impact on growth and wood traits between seedlings and clones from the same plus trees of Pinus koraiensis显示文摘To evaluate the relationships among clones and open pollinated families from the same plus trees and to select elite breeding materials,growth,and wood characteristics of 33-year-old Pinus korainsis clones and families were measured and analyzed.The results show that growth and wood characters varied significantly.The variation due to clonal effects was higher than that of family effects.The ratio of genetic to phenotypic coefficient of variation of clones in growth and wood traits was above 90%,and the repeatability of these characteristics was more than 0.8,whereas the ratio of genetic to phenotypic coefficient of variation of families was above 90%.The broad-sense heritability of all characteristics exceeded 0.4,and the narrow-sense family heritability of growth traits was less than 0.3.Growth characteristics were positively correlated with each other,but most wood properties were weakly correlated in both clones and families.Fiber length and width were positively correlated between clones and families.Using the membership function method,eleven clones and four families were selected as superior material for improved diameter growth and wood production,and two families from clonal and open-pollinated trees showed consistently better performance.Generally,selection of the best clones is an effective alternative to deployment of families as the repeatability estimates from clonal trees were higher than narrow-sense heritability estimates from open pollinated families.The results provide valuable insight for improving P.koraiensis breeding programs and subsequent genetic improvement. | Xiaoting Liu Zhimin Lu Jingui Wu Yuchun Yang Shuchun Li Lin Wu Qingshan Xu Qi Yu Li Zhao Jian Sun Wei Zheng Mulualem Tigabu Xiyang Zhao | 2023 | Journal of Forestry Research2023,34,2: | 0 |

| 15 | Variability scaling and capacity planning in Covid-19 pandemic显示文摘Capacity planning is a very important global challenge in the face of Covid-19 pandemic.In order to hedge against the fluctuations in the random demand and to take advantage of risk pooling effect,one needs to have a good understanding of the variabilities in the demand of resources.However,Covid-19 predictive models that are widely used in capacity planning typically often predict the mean values of the demands(often through the predictions of the mean values of the confirmed cases and deaths)in both the temporal and spatial dimensions.They seldom provide trustworthy prediction or estimation of demand variabilities,and therefore,are insufficient for proper capacity planning.Motivated by the literature on variability scaling in the areas of physics and biology,we discovered that in the Covid-19 pandemic,both the confirmed cases and deaths exhibit a common variability scaling law between the average of the demand μ and its standard deviationσ,that is,σ ∝ μ^(β),where the scaling parameterμis typically in the range of 0.65 to 1,and the scaling law exists in both the temporal and spatial dimensions.Based on the mechanism of contagious diseases,we further build a stylized network model to explain the variability scaling phenomena.We finally provide simple models that may be used for capacity planning in both temporal and spatial dimensions,with only the predicted mean demand values from typical Covid-19 predictive models and the standard deviations of the demands derived from the variability scaling law. | L.Jeff Hong Guangwu Liu Jun Luo Jingui Xie | 2023 | Fundamental Research2023,3,4: | 0 |
