| 1 | Effects of soil water and nitrogen availability on photosynthesis and water use efficiency of Robinia pseudoacacia seedlings显示文摘The efficient use of water and nitrogen (N) to promote growth and increase yield of fruit trees and crops is well studied.However,little is known about their effects on woody plants growing in arid and semiarid areas with limited water and N availability.To examine the effects of water and N supply on early growth and water use efficiency (WUE) of trees on dry soils,one-year-old seedlings of Robinia pseudoacacia were exposed to three soil water contents (non-limiting,medium drought,and severe drought) as well as to low and high N levels,for four months.Photosynthetic parameters,leaf instantaneous WUE (WUEi) and whole tree WUE (WUEb) were determined.Results showed that,independent of N levels,increasing soil water content enhanced the tree transpiration rate (Tr),stomatal conductance (Gs),intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci),maximum net assimilation rate (Amax),apparent quantum yield (AQY),the range of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) due to both reduced light compensation point and enhanced light saturation point,and dark respiration rate (Rd),resulting in a higher net photosynthetic rate (Pn) and a significantly increased whole tree biomass.Consequently,WUEi and WUEb were reduced at low N,whereas WUE i was enhanced at high N levels.Irrespective of soil water availability,N supply enhanced Pn in association with an increase of Gs and Ci and a decrease of the stomatal limitation value (Ls),while Tr remained unchanged.Biomass and WUEi increased under non-limiting water conditions and medium drought,as well as WUEb under all water conditions;but under severe drought,WUEi and biomass were not affected by N application.In conclusion,increasing soil water availability improves photosynthetic capacity and biomass accumulation under low and high N levels,but its effects on WUE vary with soil N levels.N supply increased Pn and WUE,but under severe drought,N supply did not enhance WUEi and biomass. | Xiping Liu Yangyang Fan Junxia Long Ruifeng Wei Roger Kjelgren Chunmei Gong Jun Zhao | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,3: | 15 |
| 2 | Formability,microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of wire arc additively manufactured AZ80M magnesium alloy using gas tungsten arc welding显示文摘Wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM)technology has been used to fabricate the multi-layer single-pass deposited wall of AZ80M magnesium(Mg)alloy by gas tungsten arc welding.The formability,thermal cycles,microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of the WAAM AZ80M Mg alloy were investigated.The results show that there was significant difference in the temperature variation and the geometries between the original several layers and the subsequent deposited layers.Owing to the arc energy input,the interpass temperature rised rapidly and then stabilized at 150℃.As a result,the width of the deposited wall increased and then kept stable.There were obvious differences in the microstructure of the WAAM AZ80M Mg alloy among the top zone,intermediate zone and bottom zone of deposited wall.During the arc deposition process,theβphase of the WAAM AZ80M Mg alloy redissolved due to the cyclic heat accumulation,and then precipitated in the grain boundary.The cyclic heat accumulation also led to weakening of dendrite segregation.From the substrate to the top zone,the hardness of the deposited wall decreased gradually,and the intermediate zone which was the main body of deposited wall had relatively uniform hardness.The tensile properties of the WAAM AZ80M Mg alloy were different between the vertical direction and the horizontal direction.And the maximum ultimate tensile strength of the WAAM AZ80M Mg alloy was 308 MPa which was close to that of the as-extruded AZ80M Mg alloy. | Yangyang Guo Gaofeng Quan Yinglong Jiang Lingbao Ren Lingling Fan Houhong Pan | 2021 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2021,9,1: | 10 |
| 3 | Local icariin application enhanced periodontal tissue regeneration and relieved local inflammation in a minipig model of periodontitis显示文摘Periodontitis is an inflammatory autoimmune disease. Treatment should alleviate inflammation, regulate the immune reaction and promote periodontal tissue regeneration. Icariin is the main active ingredient of Epimedii Folium, and it is a promising compound for the enhancement of mesenchymal stem cell function, promotion of bone formation, inhibition of bone resorption, alleviation of inflammation and regulation of immunity. The study investigated the effect of icariin on periodontal tissue regeneration in a minipig model of periodontitis. The minipig model of periodontitis was established. Icariin was injected locally. The periodontal clinical assessment index, a computed tomography(CT) scan, histopathology and enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay(ELISA)were used to evaluate the effects of icariin. Quantitative analysis results 12 weeks post-injection demonstrated that probing depth,gingival recession, attachment loss and alveolar bone regeneration values were(3.72 ± 1.18) mm vs.(6.56 ± 1.47) mm,(1.67 ± 0.59)mm vs.(2.38 ± 0.61) mm,(5.56 ± 1.29) mm vs.(8.61 ± 1.72) mm, and(25.65 ± 5.13) mm3 vs.(9.48 ± 1.78) mm3 in the icariin group and0.9% NaCl group, respectively. The clinical assessment, CT scan, and histopathology results demonstrated significant enhancement of periodontal tissue regeneration in the icariin group compared to the 0.9% NaCl group. The ELISA results suggested that the concentration of interleukin-1 beta(IL-1β) in the icariin group was downregulated compared to the 0.9% NaCl group, which indicates that local injection of icariin relieved local inflammation in a minipig model of periodontitis. Local injection of icariin promoted periodontal tissue regeneration and exerted anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory function. | 4 | Case-control study on the associations between lifestyle-behavioral risk factors and phlegm-wetness cbonstitution显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To explore the relationships between different lifestyle-behavioral factors and phlegm wetness type of Traditional Chinese Medicine constitution,so as to provide health management strategies for phlegm-wetness constitution.METHODS: A case-control study was conducted with the cases selected from the database of Chinese constitution survey in 9 provinces or municipalities of China. 1380 cases met the diagnostic criteria of phlegm-wetness type were taken as the case group, and 1380 cases were randomly selected from gentleness type as the control group. Using Chi-square test to compare the differences of lifestyle-behavior composition in each group; single factor and multiple logistic regression analysis were used to compare the relationships of life-style-behavioral factors and phlegm-wetness type.RESULTS: There were statistically significant differences between phlegm-wetness type group and gentleness type group in lifestyle behaviors(dietary habits, tobacco and liquor consumptions, exercise habits, sleeping habits). The results of single factor logistic regression analysis demonstrated that the risk of phlegm-wetness constitution decreased significantly in light diet(odds ratio, OR=0.68);The risk factors of phlegm-wetness type were fatty food intake(OR=2.36), sleeping early and getting up late(OR=1.87), tobacco smoking(OR=1.83),barbecued food intake(OR=1.68), alcohol drinking(OR=1.63), salty food intake(OR=1.44), sleeping erratically(OR=1.43), less physical activities(OR=1.42), sweet food intake(OR=1.29), sleeping and getting up late(OR=1.26), and pungent food intake(OR=1.21), respectively. | 8 | In-situ microstructural investigations of the TRIP-to-TWIP evolution in Ti-Mo-Zr alloys as a function of Zr concentration显示文摘Aiming at overcoming the strength-ductility trade-off in structural Ti-alloys,a new family of TRIP/TWIP Ti-alloys was developed in the past decade(TWIP:twinning-induced plasticity;TRIP:transformationinduced plasticity).Herein,we study the tunable nature of deformation mechanisms with various TWIP and TRIP contributions by fine adjustment of the Zr content on ternary Ti-12 Mo-xZr(x=3,6,10)alloys.The microstructure and deformation mechanisms of the Ti-Mo-Zr alloys are explored by using in-situ electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results show that a transition of the dominant deformation mode occurred,going from TRIP to TWIP major mechanism with increasing Zr content.In the Ti-12 Mo-3 Zr alloy,the stress-induced martensitic transformation(SIM)is the major deformation mode which accommodates the plastic flow.Regarding the Ti-12 Mo-6 Zr alloy,the combined deformation twinning(DT)and SIM modes both contribute to the overall plasticity with enhanced strain-hardening rate and subsequent large uniform ductility.Further increase of the Zr content in Ti-12 Mo-10 Zr alloy leads to an improved yield stress involving single DT mode as a dominant deformation mechanism throughout the plastic regime.In the present work,a set of comprehensive in-situ and ex-situ microstructural investigations clarify the evolution of deformation microstructures during tensile loading and unloading processes. | Bingnan Qian Jinyong Zhang Yangyang Fu Fan Sun Yuan Wu Jun Cheng Philippe Vermaut Frederic Prima | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,6: | 2 |
| 9 | CHD3 chromatin-remodeling factor PICKLE regulates floral transition partially via modulating LEAFY expression at the chromatin level in Arabidopsis显示文摘PICKLE(PKL), a putative CHD3 chromatin remodeling factor, has been suggested to be involved in multiple processes in Arabidopsis. Here, we confirmed the late-flowering phenotype caused by pkl mutation with pkl mutants in two different ecotypes, and investigated the possible mechanisms that account for PKL regulation of flowering time. Quantitative RT-PCR and RNA-seq assays showed that expression of the LEAFY gene(LFY) and a number of LFY-regulated floral homeotic genes were down-regulated in seedlings of the pkl mutants. As predicted, overexpression of LFY restored normal flowering time of pkl mutants. Our results suggest that PKL may be involved in regulating flowering time via LFY expression. To uncover the underlying mechanism, Ch IP-PCR using anti-PKL was performed on materials from three developmental stages of seedlings. Our results showed that PKL associated with the genomic sequences of LFY, particularly at 10-day and 25-day after germination. We also showed that loss of PKL affected H3K27me3 level at the promoter of LFY. | 11 | miR-4651 inhibits cell proliferation of gingival mesenchymal stem cells by inhibiting HMGA2 under nifedipine treatment显示文摘Drug-induced gingival overgrowth(DIGO) is recognized as a side effect of nifedipine(NIF);however, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unknown. In this study, we found that overexpressed mi R-4651 inhibits cell proliferation and induces G0/G1-phase arrest in gingival mesenchymal stem cells(GMSCs) with or without NIF treatment. Furthermore, sequential window acquisition of all theoretical mass spectra(SWATH-MS) analysis, bioinformatics analysis, and dual-luciferase report assay results confirmed that high-mobility group AT-hook 2(HMGA2) is the downstream target gene of mi R-4651. Overexpression of HMGA2 enhanced GMSC proliferation and accelerated the cell cycle with or without NIF treatment. The present study demonstrates that mi R-4651 inhibits the proliferation of GMSCs and arrests the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase by upregulating cyclin D and CDK2 while downregulating cyclin E through inhibition of HMGA2 under NIF stimulation. | 12 | On the robustness of EEG tensor completion methods显示文摘During the acquisition of electroencephalographic(EEG) signals, data may be missing or corrupted by noise and artifacts. To reconstruct the incomplete data, EEG signals are firstly converted into a three-order tensor(multi-dimensional data) of shape time × channel × trial. Then, the missing data can be efficiently recovered by applying a tensor completion method(TCM).However, there is not a unique way to organize channels and trials in a tensor, and different numbers of channels are available depending on the EEG setting used, which may affect the quality of the tensor completion results. The main goal of this paper is to evaluate the robustness of EEG completion methods with several designed parameters such as the ordering of channels and trials, the number of channels, and the amount of missing data. In this work, the results of completing missing data by several TCMs were compared. To emulate different scenarios of missing data, three different patterns of missing data were designed.Firstly, the amount of missing data on completion effects was analyzed, including the time lengths of missing data and the number of channels or trials affected by missing data. Secondly, the numerical stability of the completion methods was analyzed by shuffling the indices along channels or trials in the EEG data tensor. Finally, the way that the number of electrodes of EEG tensors influences completion effects was assessed by changing the number of channels. Among all the applied TCMs, the simultaneous tensor decomposition and completion(STDC) method achieves the best performance in providing stable results when the amount of missing data or the electrode number of EEG tensors is changed. In other words, STDC proves to be an excellent choice of TCM, since permutations of trials or channels have almost no influence on the complete results. The STDC method can efficiently complete the missing EEG signals. | 13 | Efficient network immunization under limited knowledge显示文摘Targeted immunization of centralized nodes in large-scale networks has attracted significant attention.However,in real-world scenarios,knowledge and observations of the network may be limited,thereby precluding a full assessment of the optimal nodes to immunize(or quarantine)in order to avoid epidemic spreading such as that of the current coronavirus disease(COVID-19)epidemic.Here,we study a novel immunization strategy where only n nodes are observed at a time and the most central among these n nodes is immunized.This process can globally immunize a network.We find that even for small n(≈10)there is significant improvement in the immunization(quarantine),which is very close to the levels of immunization with full knowledge.We develop an analytical framework for our method and determine the critical percolation threshold pc and the size of the giant component P∞for networks with arbitrary degree distributions P(k).In the limit of n→∞we recover prior work on targeted immunization,whereas for n=1 we recover the known case of random immunization.Between these two extremes,we observe that,as n increases,pcincreases quickly towards its optimal value under targeted immunization with complete information.In particular,we find a new general scaling relationship between|pc(∞)-pc(n)|and n as|pc(∞)-pc(n)|~n^-1 exp(-αn).For scale-free(SF)networks,where P(k)~k^-γ,2<γ<3,we find that pc has a transition from zero to nonzero when n increases from n=1 to O(log N)(where N is the size of the network).Thus,for SF networks,having knowledge of≈log N nodes and immunizing the most optimal among them can dramatically reduce epidemic spreading.We also demonstrate our limited knowledge immunization strategy on several real-world networks and confirm that in these real networks,pc increases significantly even for small n. | Yangyang Liu Hillel Sanhedrai GaoGao Dong Louis M.Shekhtman Fan Wang Sergey V.Buldyrev Shlomo Havlin | 2021 | National Science Review2021,8,1: | 1 |

| 16 | A generalizable strategy based on the rule of“like dissolves like”to construct porous liquids with low viscosity for CO_(2)capture显示文摘Porous liquids(PLs),an emerging porous material with permanent cavities,have attracted extensive attention in recent years.However,the current construction methods are complicated and resulting PLs possess high viscosity values,which cannot meet the requirements of practical industrial applications.Herein,we demonstrate a generalizable and simple strategy to prepare type III PLs with low viscosity based on the rule of“like dissolves like”.Specifically,the monoglycidyl ether terminated polydimethylsiloxane(denoted by E-PDMS)is attached to the surface of Universitetet i Oslo(UiO)-66-NH_(2)via covalent linkage,constructing the pore generator(UiO-66-NH_(2)-E-PDMS,denoted by P-UiO-66).Then,P-UiO-66 is dispersed into different types and amounts of sterically hindered solvents(PDMS400 or PDMS6000),obtaining a series of type III PLs(denoted by P-UiO-66-PLs)with permanent cavities and low viscosities.The gas sorption-desorption test shows that P-UiO-66-PLs have an enormous potential for CO_(2)/N_(2) selective separation.Besides,the porosity of P-UiO-66-PLs and the CO_(2)sorption mechanism are demonstrated by molecular simulation.Furthermore,the generality of the synthesis strategy is confirmed by the successful construction of PLs using two other amino-metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)(MIL-53(Al)-NH_(2)and MIL-88B(Fe)-NH_(2)).Importantly,it’s worth noting that the strategy based on the rule of“like dissolves like”sheds light on the preparation of other types of PLs for task-specific applications. | Yangyang Xin Hailong Ning Dechao Wang(✉) Xiaoqian Li Wendi Fan Xiaoqian Ju Hongni Wang Yichi Zhang Zhiyuan Yang Dongdong Yao Yaping Zheng | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,7: | 1 |

| 20 | Identification,expression analysis,and functional characterization of ghrelin and its receptors in spotted sea bass(Lateolabrax maculatus)显示文摘Ghrelin(Ghrl),an appetite-inducing peptide hormone secreted by the stomach,is the endogenous ligand for the growth hormone secretagogue receptor(Ghs-r).In this study,we identified the preproghrelin gene and its receptors in spotted sea bass(Lateolabrax maculatus).The ghrl gene consisted of an open reading frame(ORF)of 324 nucleotides encoding 107 amino acids,and the premature protein contained a 20-amino-acid mature peptide.Through a syntenic analysis,we also validated the annotation of growth hormone secretagogue receptor la(ghs-rla)and growth hormone secretagogue receptor la-1ike(ghs-rla-like),which contained seven-transmembrane structures,in spotted sea bass.The ORF of ghs-rla consisted of 1152 bp that encoded a 383-amino-acid protein,and(ghs-rla-like) contained an ORF of 2631 bp and produced a protein with 876 amino acids.A phylogenetic analysis showed that spotted sea bass ghrl and its receptors clustered with those of other fishes and were more distantly related to those of other vertebrates.In situ hybridization revealed that ghrl was highly expressed in the stomach and localized in the mucosa and submucosa.The expression of these genes varied during short-term starvation in a time-dependent manner.In vitro studies showed that after incubation with Ghrl for 3 h enhanced the expression of motilin(mln),gastrin(gas)and cholecystokinin(cck)、but this effect vanished after 6 h of incubation.In summary,Ghrl and its receptors might play important roles in the regulation of food intake in spotted sea bass. | Peng Yu Yangyang Zhou Xin Qi Hongying Fan Kaiqiang Zhang Xiaoyan Zhang Yun Li Haishen Wen | 2020 | Marine Life Science & Technology2020,2,4: | 1 |
