1Immunity-and-matrix-regulatory cells derived from human embryonic stem cells safely and effectively treat mouse lung injury and fibrosis显示文摘Lung injury and fibrosis represent the most significant outcomes of severe and acute lung disorders,including COVID-19.However,there are still no effective drugs to treat lung injury and fibrosis.In this study,we report the generation of clinical-grade human embryonic stem cells(hESCs)-derived immunity-and matrix-regulatory cells(IMRCs)produced under good manufacturing practice requirements,that can treat lung injury and fibrosis in vivo.We generate IMRCs by sequentially differentiating hESCs with serum-free reagents.IMRCs possess a unique gene expression profile distinct from that of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells(UCMSCs),such as higher expression levels of proliferative,immunomodulatory and anti-fibrotic genes.Moreover,intravenous delivery of IMRCs inhibits both pulmonary inflammation and fibrosis in mouse models of lung injury,and significantly improves the survival rate of the recipient mice in a dose-dependent manner,likely through paracrine regulatory mechanisms.IMRCs are superior to both primary UCMSCs and the FDA-approved drug pirfenidone,with an excellent efficacy and safety profile in mice and monkeys.In light of public health crises involving pneumonia,acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome,our findings suggest that IMRCs are ready for clinical trials on lung disorders.Jun Wu Dingyun Song Zhongwen Li Baojie Guo Yani Xiao Wenjing Liu Lingmin Liang Chunjing Feng Tingting Gao Yanxia Chen Ying Li Zai Wang Jianyan Wen Shengnan Yang Peipei Liu Lei Wang Yukai Wang Liang Peng Glyn Nigel Stacey Zheng Hu Guihai Feng Wei Li Yan Huo Ronghua Jin Ng Shyh-Chang Qi Zhou Liu Wang Baoyang Hu Huaping Dai Jie Hao 2020Cell Research2020,30,9:7

3Polytitanium sulfate(PTS):Coagulation application and Ti species detection显示文摘Interest in the development of inorganic polymerized coagulants is growing; however, there are only limited studies on the synthesis of polytitanium coagulants, which are expected to exhibit improved coagulation efficiency with better floc properties. This study presents the synthesis of polytitanium sulfate(PTS) for potential application in water purification,followed by characterization of PTS flocs and titanium species detection. Stable PTS solutions were successfully synthesized and standard jar tests were conducted to evaluate their coagulation efficiency. Electrospray ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry(ESI-TOF-MS) speciation analysis revealed that a variety of mononuclear and polynuclear complexes were formed in PTS solution, indicating the polymeric nature of the synthesized coagulant. Floc characteristics were studied through on-line monitoring of floc size using a laser diffraction particle size analyzer. Results showed that PTS had a comparable or in some cases even higher organic matter and particulate removal efficiency than Ti(SO_4)_2.The effluent p H after PTS coagulation significantly improved toward desirable values closer to neutral p H. Properties of flocs formed by PTS were significantly improved in terms of floc size, growth rate and structure. 4High detectivity photodetectors based on perovskite nanowires with suppressed surface defects显示文摘Solution-processable,single-crystalline perovskite nanowires are ideal candidates for developing low-cost photodetectors,but their detectivities are limited due to a high level of unintentional defects.Through the surfaceinitiated solution-growth method,we fabricated high-quality,single-crystalline,defects-suppressed MAPbI_(3) nanowires,which possess atomically smooth side surfaces with a surface roughness of 0.27 nm,corresponding to a carrier lifetime of 112.9 ns.By forming ohmic MAPbI_(3)∕Au contacts through the dry contact method,highperformance metal–semiconductor–metal photodetectors have been demonstrated with a record large linear dynamic range of 157 dB along with a record high detectivity of 1.2×10^(14) Jones at an illumination power density of 5.5 nW∕cm^(2).Such superior photodetector performance metrics are attributed to,first,the defects-suppressed property of the as-grown MAPbI_(3) nanowires,which leads to a quite low noise current in the dark,and second,the ohmic contact between MAPbI_(3) and Au interfaces,which gives rise to an improved responsivity compared with the Schottky contact counterpart.The realized high-performance MAPbI_(3) nanowire photodetector advances the development of low-cost photodetectors and has potential applications in weak-signal photodetection.GUOHUI LI RUI GAO YUE HAN AIPING ZHAI YUCHENG LIU YUE TIAN BINING TIAN YUYING HAO SHENGZHONG LIU YUCHENG WU YANXIA CUI 2020Photonics Research2020,8,12:4
5Excretion of manure-borne estrogens and androgens and their potential risk estimation in the Yangtze River Basin显示文摘The Yangtze River is the longest river in China, and the river basin spans one fifth of the area of the whole country. Based on statistical data, the excretion of manure-borne steroid hormones, including steroid estrogens(SEs) and steroid androgens(SAs), in 10 provinces of China within the region has been estimated. The potential environmental and ecological risk of manure-borne steroid estrogens to the surface water in this region was also assessed. The manure-borne SE and SA excretions in the 10 provinces and municipalities vary in the order: Sichuan > Hunan > Hubei > Yunnan > Jiangsu > Anhui > Jiangxi >Chongqing > Qinghai > Shanghai. The highest increase of manure-borne SEs(1434.3 kg)and SAs(408.5 kg) was found in Hunan and Hubei provinces, respectively, and the total excretion in 2013 was 65% more than 15 years earlier in these two provinces. However, the emissions in Anhui and Shanghai decreased in this 15 year period of time. Swine urine,chicken feces, cattle urine, and laying hen feces were considered the dominant sources of manure-borne E1, βE2, αE2, and SAs, respectively. Although Jiangsu province did not have the largest excretion of manure-borne SEs, it had the highest level of predicted17β-estradiol equivalency(EEQs) value of 16.65 ng/L in surface water because of the limited surface water resources. 6Integration of QTL detection and marker assisted selection for improving resistance to Fusarium head blight and important agronomic traits in wheat显示文摘Fusarium head blight(FHB), caused by Fusarium graminearum, is one of the most destructive wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) diseases worldwide. Identification of quantitative trait loci(QTL) conferring FHB resistance followed by marker assisted selection(MAS) is an efficient approach to breed FHB-resistant varieties. In this study, 38 additive QTL and 18 pairs of epistatic QTL for FHB resistance were detected in four environments using a population of recombinant inbred lines(RILs) derived from varieties Neixiang 188 and Yanzhan 1. Six QTL clusters were located on chromosomes 2D, 4B, 4D, 5A, 5D and 7B, suggesting possible polytrophic functions. Six elite lines with good FHB resistance and agronomic traits were selected from the same population using the associated markers. 7High-Resolution Mesoscale Analysis Data from the South China Heavy Rainfall Experiment (SCHeREX): Data Generation and Quality Evaluation显示文摘In this study, the observational data acquired in the South China Heavy Rainfall Experiment (SCHeREX) from May to July 2008 and 2009 were integrated and assimilated with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Local Analysis and Prediction System (LAPS; information available online at http://gffzzc2aa3fc9434744efh9kck5x9fn0oq69vn.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn). A high-resolution mesoscale analysis dataset was then generated at a spatial resolution of 5 km and a temporal resolution of 3 h in four observational areas: South China, Central China, Jianghuai area, and Yangtze River Delta area. The quality of this dataset was evaluated as follows. First, the dataset was qualitatively compared with radar reflectivity and TBB image for specific heavy rainfall events so as to examine its capability in reproduction of mesoscale systems. The results show that the SCHeREX analysis dataset has a strong capability in capturing severe mesoscale convective systems. Second, the mean deviation and root mean square error of the SCHeREX mesoscale analysis fields were analyzed and compared with radiosonde data. The results reveal that the errors of geopotential height, temperature, relative humidity, and wind of the SCHeREX analysis were within the acceptable range of observation errors. In particular, the average error was 45 m for geopotential height between 700 and 925 hPa, 1.0-1.1°C for temperature, less than 20% for relative humidity, 1.5-2.0 m s-1 for wind speed, and 20-25° for wind direction. 8Advanced lignin-acrylamide water treatment agent by pulp and paper industrial sludge: Synthesis, properties and application显示文摘A novel flocculant LA(lignin-acrylamide polymer), which was used as aid for aluminum sulfate and polyaluminum chloride in this study, was prepared by grafting acrylamide onto lignin that deriving from pulp and papermaking sludge. Physicochemical properties of LA were measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The experimental outcome indicated acrylamide was grafted onto the lignin backbone successfully. The efects of LA addition were evaluated on coagulation performance and floc characteristics as a function of aluminum(Al) dosage, such as floc size, growth rate, strength and recoverability. Efects of diferent dosing sequences, Al dosed first and LA dosed first, were also investigated. LA used as coagulant aid markedly enhanced the removal efciency of turbidity and dissolved organic carbon, especially at low Al dosages. The dissolved organic carbon removal efciencies of aluminum sulfate and polyaluminum chloride at the Al dosage range selected in this study were improved more than 30% and 5% by LA, respectively. LA dramatically enlarged floc size and it was in the order: Al dosed first > LA dosed first > Al. Floc strength and recoverability were also improved by LA. 9Expression of calbindin D28K in substantia nigra of model rats with Parkinson disease显示文摘BACKGROUND: Previous researches suggested that expression level of calbindin D28K mRNA decreased in substantia nigra (SN) of model rats with Parkinson disease (PD), and this might be related to the decrease of anti-degeneration potentials of dopaminergic neurons. OBJECTIVE: To observe expression changes of calbindin D28K in SN dopaminergic neurons during their degeneration and death in midbrain of PD model rats. DESIGN: Completely randomized grouping design. SETTING: Department of Neurobiology, Xuzhou Medical College. MATERIALS: A total of 92 healthy male SD rats, with the age of 3 months, weighing 200-250 g, were selected from Experimental Animal Center of Xuzhou Medical College [certification: SCXK (su) 2003-0003]. Calbindin D28K(CB), tyroxine hydroxylase (TH), ABC kit, 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) and Nissl dyes were provided by Sigma Company, and sheep serum was provided by Beijing Zhongshan Company. METHODS: The experiment was carried out in the Neurobiological Center of Xuzhou Medical College from October 2003 to October 2004. ① With lot method, rats were divided into blank control group (n=28), experimental control group (n=28) and experimental group (n=36). Rats in experimental group were injected with 6-OHDA at right corpus striatum for PD modeling; rats in experimental control group were injected with saline at the same site; rats in blank control group did not give any injections. ② On the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th days, SN segments on right midbrain from every 5 rats in experimental group were fixed, embedded with paraffin and cut into successively coronary pieces. Rats in other two groups were treated with the same methods and then stained with Nissl to show neuronal form. Meanwhile, CB and TH antibodies staining with immunohistochemistry were used to show CB containing dopaminergic neurons and dopaminergic neurons, and cells were calculated and observed under optic microscope. ③ On the 14th and 28th days, every 4 rats in experimental group and every 4 rats in control group were selected to obtain their brains and separate SN on the injured side. Western blot was used to detect expression of calbindin D28K, protein band was scanned with imaging equipment, and data were analyzed with LabWorks software. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① On the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th days, Nissl staining results of SN neurons and immunohistochemical staining results of CB and TH antibodies; ② On the 14th and 28th days, Western blot results of calbindin D28K in SN neurons. RESULTS: Among 92 rats, 2 rats in experimental group died after 1 day due to 6-OHDA injection and other 90 rats were involved in the final analysis. ① Nissl staining results: On the 7th day of 6-OHDA injection, most neuronal somas on right SN pars compacta were shown as deep pycnosis or lysis breakage; on the 14th and 21st days, amount of neurons was decreased remarkably; on the 28th day, most neurons in SN pars compacta disappeared. ② Results of immunohistochemical staining: Amount of positive neurons of calbindin D28K in right SN pars compacta was not changed on the 7th day after 6-OHDA injection; on the 14th day, the amount was higher in experimental group than that in both control groups (P < 0.01) and was decreased till the 21st day, but it was still higher than that in the two control groups (P < 0.05); on the 28th day, positive neurons of calbindin D28K nearly disappeared, and the amount was lower than that in the two control groups (P < 0.01). In addition, on the 7th day after 6-OHDA injection into corpus striatum, positive TH neurons decreased 24% in right SN, and there was significant difference from that in control groups; on the 14th, 21st and 28th days, positive TH neurons decreased 37%, 46% and 64%, respectively. ③ Western blot results: On the 14th day after 6-OHDA injection into corpus striatum, expression of calbindin D28K in right SN was higher in experimental group than that in both control groups (P < 0.05); however, on the 28th day, the expression was lower than that in the two control groups (P < 0.01). 10Passivation of degradation path enables high performance perovskite nanoplatelet lasers with high operational stability显示文摘MAPbI_(3)perovskite has attracted widespread interests for developing low-cost near infrared semiconductor gain media.However,it faces the instability issue under operation conditions,which remains a critical challenge.It is found that the instability of the MAPbI_(3)nanoplatelet laser comes from the thermal-induced degradation progressing from the surface defects towards neighboring regions.By using PbI_(2) passivation,the defect-initiated degradation is significantly suppressed and the nanoplatelet degrades in a layer-by-layer way,enabling the MAPbI_(3)laser to sustain for 4500 s(2.7×10^(7) pulses),which is nearly three times longer than that of the nanoplatelet laser without passivation.Meanwhile,the PbI_(2) passivated MAPbI_(3)nanoplatelet laser with the nanoplatelet cavity displays a maximum quality factor up to∼7800,the highest reported for all MAPbI_(3)nanoplatelet cavities.Furthermore,a high stability MAPbI_(3)nanoplatelet laser that can last for 8500 s(5.1×10^(7) pulses)is demonstrated based on a dual passivation strategy,by retarding the defect-initiated degradation and surface-initiated degradation simultaneously.This work provides in-depth insights for understanding the operating degradation of perovskite lasers,and the dual passivation strategy paves the way for developing high stability near infrared semiconductor laser media.GUOHUI LI HUIHUI PI YANFU WEI BOLIN ZHOU YA GAO RONG WEN YUYING HAO HAN ZHANG BENG S.ONG YANXIA CUI 2022Photonics Research2022,10,6:2

15Age-specific effectiveness of primary human papillomavirus screening versus cytology in a cervical cancer screening program: a nationwide cross-sectional study显示文摘Background:Primary human papillomavirus(HPV)screening is recommended for the detection of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)in the general pop-ulation;however,the triage for HPV-positive women remains a challenge.This study aimed to evaluate the age-specific effectiveness of primary HPV screening versus primary cytology screening for identifying optimal strategies for women of different ages.Methods:The dataset of the prevalence round screening was derived from the National Cervical Cancer Screening Program in China.Primary cervical screen-ing protocols included cytology only,HPV testing with cytology triage,and HPV testing with HPV-16/18 genotyping plus cytology triage.The primary outcomes were age-specific detection rate,colposcopy referral rate and positive predictive value(PPV)for CIN2+.Multivariate Poisson regression was used to evaluate the relativeeffectivenessofHPVtestingandcytologyaccordingtoagegroups.TheI 2 statisticwitharandom-effectmodelwasusedtotesttheheterogeneityinrelative effectiveness of HPV testing versus cytology between age groups.Results:This study included 1,160,981 women.HPV testing with HPV-16/18 genotyping plus cytology triage significantly increased the CIN2+detection by 36%(rate ratio[RR]:1.36,95%confidential interval[CI]1.21–1.54)for women aged 35-44 years and by 34%(RR:1.34,95%CI 1.20-1.51)for women aged 45-54 years compared with cytology only.HPV testing with cytology triage had simi-lar CIN2+detection rate compared with cytology only.The PPVs were substan-tially increased for both HPV testing groups.Among women aged 55-64 years old,HPV testing with HPV-16/18 genotyping plus cytology triage increased the colposcopyreferralrateby19%(RR1.19,95%CI1.10-1.29)comparedwithcytology only,butdidnotincreasetheCIN2+detection(1.09,0.91–1.30).Theeffectiveness ofHPVtestingwithcytologytriagedidnotchangeinolderwomen.Thebetween-age-group heterogeneity in the effectiveness was statistically significant for HPV testing with HPV-16/18 genotyping plus cytology triage versus cytology only.Conclusions:Our results suggested that the effectiveness of primary HPV screeningwithdifferenttriagestrategiesdifferedamongagegroups.HPVtesting with HPV-16/18 genotyping plus cytology triage could be used for women aged 35-54 years to detect more lesions,and HPV testing with cytology triage could balance the CIN2+detection and the number of colposcopies for women aged 55-64 years.Longitudinal data including both prevalence and incidence screen-ing rounds are warranted to assess age-specific triage strategies.Heling Bao Lan Ma Yanxia Zhao Bo Song Jiangli Di Linhong Wang Yanqiu Gao Wenhui Ren Shi Wang Jiuling Wu Hai-Jun Wang 2022Cancer Communications2022,42,3:1
16Effects of crystal structure on the activity of MnO2 nanorods oxidase mimics显示文摘The crystal structures would directly affect the physical and chemical properties of the surface of the material,and would thus influence the catalytic activity of the material.α-MnO2,β-MnO2 andγ-MnO2 nanorods with the same morphology yet different crystal structures were prepared and tested as oxidase mimics using 3,3’,5,5’-tetramethylbenzidine(TMB)as the substrate.β-MnO2 that exhibited the highest activity had a catalytic constant of 83.75μmol·m^−2·s^−1,2.7 and 19.0 times of those ofα-MnO2 andγ-MnO2(30.91 and 4.41μmol·m^−2·s^−1),respectively.The characterization results showed that there were more surface hydroxyls as well as more Mn4+on the surface of theβ-MnO2 nanorods.The surface hydroxyls were conducive to the oxidation reaction,while Mn4+was conducive to the regeneration of surface hydroxyls.The synergistic effect of the two factors significantly improved the activity ofβ-MnO2 oxidase mimic.Usingβ-MnO2,aβ-MnO2-TMB-GSH system was established to detect the content of glutathione(GSH)rapidly and sensitively by colorimetry.This method had a wide detection range(0.11-45μM)and a low detection limit(0.1μM),and had been successfully applied to GSH quantification in human serum samples.Yanxia Meng Kunfeng Zhao Zhaokun Zhang Peng Gao Jing Yuan Ting Cai Qin Tong Gang Huang Dannong He 2020Nano Research2020,13,3:1

18Characteristics of secondary droplets produced by the impact of drops onto a smooth surface显示文摘This work investigates the splashing behaviors of droplets impacting on solid surfaces and mainly focuses on the characteristics of secondary droplets.According to the experimental results,two different splashing patterns,corona splash and levitating-lamella breakup,are observed.A new breakup mode,named rimsegmenting,is found during the levitating-lamella breakup.In particular,the detailed information of the splashing secondary droplets,including the size,velocity,angle,and total volume of the splashing secondary droplets is obtained from the experimental data.The size distribution of the splashing secondary droplets obeys the gamma distribution function.The average diameter and splashing angle of the secondary droplets are mainly related to the Reynolds number Re,and can be expressed as functions of Re.High impact velocity and liquid viscosity will result in a wider size distribution range of splashing secondary droplets.We also put forward an empirical model to predict the total splashing volume,which is consistent with the experimental data both in this work and previous studies.This work is believed to provide insights on the prediction of the characteristics of splashing secondary droplets.Haixiang Zhang Ye Gao Xiwen Zhang Xian Yi Yanxia Du Feng He Zheyan Jin Pengfei Hao 2021Advances in Aerodynamics2021,3,1:1
19CCGD-ESCC: A Comprehensive Database for Genetic Variants Associated with Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Chinese Population显示文摘Esophageal squamous-cell carcinoma(ESCC) is one of the most lethal malignancies in the world and occurs at particularly higher frequency in China. While several genome-wide association studies(GWAS) of germline variants and whole-genome or whole-exome sequencing studies of somatic mutations in ESCC have been published, there is no comprehensive database publically available for this cancer. Here, we developed the Chinese Cancer Genomic Database-Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma(CCGD-ESCC) database, which contains the associations of 69,593 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) with ESCC risk in 2022 cases and 2039 controls, survival time of 1006 ESCC patients(survival GWAS) and gene expression(expression quantitative trait loci,eQTL) in 94 ESCC patients. Moreover, this database also provides the associations between8833 somatic mutations and survival time in 675 ESCC patients. Our user-friendly database is a resource useful for biologists and oncologists not only in identifying the associations of genetic variants or somatic mutations with the development and progression of ESCC but also in studying the underlying mechanisms for tumorigenesis of the cancer. 20Evaluation of Pre-Harvest Sprouting(PHS)Resistance and Screening of High-Quality Varieties from Thirty-Seven Quinoa(Chenopodium quinoa Willd.)Resources in Chengdu Plain显示文摘Pre-harvest sprouting(PHS)will have a serious effect both on the yield and quality of quinoa(Chenopodium quinoaWilld.).It is crucial to select and breed quinoa varieties with PHS resistance and excellent agronomic traits for guidance production and utilization of quinoa.A comprehensive evaluation of the PHS resistance and agronomic traits of 37 species of quinoa resources was conducted in Chengdu Plain.The evaluation used various methods,including grain germination rate(GR),grain germination index(GI),total spike germination rate(SR),total grain germination index(SI),grey correlation analysis(GCA),cluster analysis and correlation analysis.Results showed significant differences in PHS resistance and agronomic traits amongst the 37 quinoa resources.CDU-23 was most resistant to PHS within 24 h,with a germination rate of 2.67%and 0%according to the GR and SR results,respectively.However,in the same time,CDU-31 showed the maximum susceptibility to PHS based on the SR of 31.07%,while CDU-34 was the most sensitive to PHS according to the GR of 100%.The comprehensive evaluation identified one and nine kinds of high resistance species for grain and whole spike germination,respectively.In both cases,the coefficients of variation(CV)for these parameters were 34.78%and 82.13%,respectively.GCA results showed that the magnitude of the association between each trait and yield in the thirty-seven quinoa resources was in the following order:thousand grain weight>seed length>seed area>seed width.Although the seed weight of CDU-18 reached 3.7010 g,the seed weight of CDU-5 was only 1.6030 g.However,the size of the seeds,their width and area did not correlate with their 1000-grain weight.There was a complex correlation between PHS resistance index and agronomic traits.Based on clustering analysis,thirty-seven quinoa resources were classified into three taxa.It was found that various taxa differed in PHS resistance and agronomic traits.Several comparisons of the aggregated data led to the selection of five varieties of quinoa,of which CDU-2 presented excellent agronomic qualities and strong PHS resistance.This study has provided a reference for breeding excellent quinoa varieties with PHS resistance.Xin Pan Ya Gao Fang Zeng Chunmei Zheng Wenxuan Ge Yan Wan Yanxia Sun Xiaoyong Wu 2023Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2023,92,10:0
