| 1 | A rapid advice guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of 2019 novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV) infected pneumonia(standard version)显示文摘In December 2019, a new type viral pneumonia cases occurred in Wuhan, Hubei Province;and then named '2019 novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV)' by the World Health Organization(WHO) on 12 January 2020. For it is a never been experienced respiratory disease before and with infection ability widely and quickly, it attracted the world’s attention but without treatment and control manual. For the request from frontline clinicians and public health professionals of 2019-nCoV infected pneumonia management, an evidence-based guideline urgently needs to be developed. Therefore, we drafted this guideline according to the rapid advice guidelines methodology and general rules of WHO guideline development;we also added the first-hand management data of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. This guideline includes the guideline methodology, epidemiological characteristics, disease screening and population prevention, diagnosis, treatment and control(including traditional Chinese Medicine), nosocomial infection prevention and control, and disease nursing of the 2019-nCoV. Moreover, we also provide a whole process of a successful treatment case of the severe 2019-nCoV infected pneumonia and experience and lessons of hospital rescue for 2019-nCoV infections. | 3 | Lakes' state and abundance across the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Understanding the changes in number and areal extent of lakes,as well as their abundance and size distribution is important for assessments of regional and global water resources,biogeochemical cycles,and changes in climate.In this study,changes in lake area greater than 1 km2are mapped using Landsat datasets,spanning the 1970s,1990,2000,and 2010.In addition,high-resolution images(GeoCover Landsat mosaic 2000,with a pixel size of 14.25 m)are used for the first time to map lakes as small as 0.001 km2across the entire Tibetan Plateau(TP).Results show that the numbers and areal extent of individual lakes[1 km2in size show a slight decrease between the 1970s and 1990,followed by a clear increase from 1990 to 2010.Ninety-nine new lakes are identified between the 1970s and 2010,71 of which are found between 1990 and 2010.This indicates the accelerated glacier melt and/or increased difference of precipitation minus evaporation since the 1990s.More than 80%of the lakes show an increase in their area between the 1970s and2010.The lake census,using 2000 imagery,shows that there are 32,843 lakes with a total area of 43,151.08±411.49 km2,which makes up 1.4%of the total area of the TP.Around 96%of all lakes are small,with an area\1 km2,while the 1,204 large lakes([1 km2)account for96%of the total lake area.The TP is subdivided into 12greater drainage basins,and of these the inner TP dominates in terms of the number of lakes(55.03%),the total area of lakes(66%),and lake density(0.026/km2compared to the mean,0.011/km2).A plot of lake abundance against size shows that the size distribution of lakes departs from a typical power-law distribution,but displays such a distribution at the mean elevation(4,715 m),with an r2value of 0.97 and a slope of-0.66.The slopes of the abundance-size equations from each of the 12 greater basins,and from all basins together,are larger than-1,supporting the inference that larger lakes,rather than the small lakes,contribute more to the total lake surface area across the TP.The lake inventory provided in this study,along with the assessment of lake size distribution,have important implications for estimates of water balance,for water resource management,and for lake area estimations in the TP. | Guoqing Zhang Tong Yao Hongjie Xie Kexiang Zhang Fujing Zhu | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,24: | 33 |

| 8 | Prognosis-related classifi cation and dynamic monitoring of immune status in patients with sepsis:A prospective observational study显示文摘BACKGROUND:The dynamic monitoring of immune status is crucial to the precise and individualized treatment of sepsis.In this study,we aim to introduce a model to describe and monitor the immune status of sepsis and to explore its prognostic value.METHODS:A prospective observational study was carried out in Zhongshan Hospital,Fudan University,enrolling septic patients admitted between July 2016 and December 2018.Blood samples were collected at days 1 and 3.Serum cytokine levels(e.g.,tumor necrosis factor-α[TNF-α],interleukin-10[IL-10])and CD14+monocyte human leukocyte antigen-D-related(HLA-DR)expression were measured to serve as immune markers.Classifi cation of each immune status,namely systemic inflammatory response syndrome(SIRS),compensatory anti-inflammatory response syndrome(CARS),and mixed antagonistic response syndrome(MARS),was defined based on levels of immune markers.Changes of immune status were classifi ed into four groups which were stabilization(SB),deterioration(DT),remission(RM),and non-remission(NR).RESULTS:A total of 174 septic patients were enrolled including 50 non-survivors.Multivariate analysis discovered that IL-10 and HLA-DR expression levels at day 3 were independent prognostic factors.Patients with MARS had the highest mortality rate.Immune status of 46.1%patients changed from day 1 to day 3.Among four groups of immune status changes,DT had the highest mortality rate,followed by NR,RM,and SB with mortality rates of 64.7%,42.9%,and 11.2%,respectively.CONCLUSIONS:Severe immune disorder defi ned as MARS or deterioration of immune status defi ned as DT lead to the worst outcomes.The preliminary model of the classifi cation and dynamic monitoring of immune status based on immune markers has prognostic values and is worthy of further investigation. | Jun Yin Yao Chen Jun-ling Huang Lei Yan Zhong-shu Kuang Ming-ming Xue Si Sun Hao Xiang Yan-yan Hu Zhi-min Dong Chao-yang Tong Chun-xue Bai Zhen-ju Song | 2021 | World Journal of Emergency Medicine2021,12,3: | 16 |
| 9 | Decreased osteogenesis of adult mesenchymal stem cel s by reactive oxygen species under cyclic stretch: a possible mechanism of age related osteoporosis显示文摘Age related defect of the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) plays a key role in osteoporosis. Mechanical loading is one of the most important physical stimuli for osteoblast differentiation.Here, we compared the osteogenic potential of MSCs from young and adult rats under three rounds of 2 h of cyclic stretch of 2.5% elongation at 1 Hz on 3 consecutive days. Cyclic stretch induced a significant osteogenic differentiation of MSCs from young rats, while a compromised osteogenesis in MSCs from the adult rats.Accordingly, there were much more reactive oxygen species(ROS) production in adult MSCs under cyclic stretch compared to young MSCs. Moreover, ROS scavenger N-acetylcysteine rescued the osteogenic differentiation of adult MSCs under cyclic stretch. Gene expression analysis revealed that superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1) was significantly downregulated in those MSCs from adult rats. | 12 | Anachronistic facies in the Lower Triassic of South China and their implications to the ecosystems during the recovery time显示文摘The end-Permian mass extinction not only severely distressed the Paleozoic ecosystems but also dramatically changed the sedimentary systems, resulting in a peculiar Early Triassic ecosystem and submarine environment during the recovery time following the mass extinction. The Lower Triassic is characteristic of the wide occurrence of various distinctive sediments and related sedimentary structures, such as flatpebble conglomerates, vermicular limestone, subtidal wrinkle structures, microbialite, carbonate seafloor fans, thin-bedded limestone and zebra limestone-mudstone. These sediments were common in the Precambrian to Early Ordovician marine settings, and then they occurred only in some extreme and unusual environments with the expansion of metazoan faunas. However, the Early Triassic witnessed an 'anachronistic' reappearance of some distinctive sedimentary records in normal shallow marine settings. The study of these anachronistic facies should be of great importance for the understanding of the unique ecosystem and marine environment through the great Paleozoic-Mesozoic transition. The anachronistic facies characterized by vermicular limestone have been documented in many localities in South China and occur at various horizons of the Lower Triassic. Most types of re- ported distinctive sediments over the world have been observed in the Lower Triassic of South China. This provides an excellent opportunity for understanding the Early Triassic environment and its co- evolution with the biotic recovery. Among the anachronistic facies the vermicular limestone is the most characteristic and common distinctive sediments in the Lower Triassic of South China but has received relatively few investigations. Taking it as a case study, we will detail the variation of vermicular limestone and its stratigraphic distribution in the Three Gorges area, Hubei Province. The investigation on the vermicular limestone and other distinctive sediments from the Lower Triassic of South China further indicates that the appearance of anachronistic facies immediately following the mass extinction and the elimination from normal shallow marine facies with the radiation of Mesozoic marine faunas imply the natural response of the sedimentary systems and ecosystems to the great Paleozoic-Mesozoic transitional events and their induced harsh environments. | 13 | Effectiveness and safety of herbal medicines in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome:A systematic review显示文摘AIM:To explore the efficacy and safety of herbal medicines (HM) in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). METHODS: A computer-based as well as manual literature search was performed. We reviewed randomized controlled trials on the treatment of IBS with and without HM. RESULTS: A total of 22 studies with 25 HMs met the inclusion criteria. Four of these studies were of good quality, while the remaining 18 studies involving 17 Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) formulas were of poor quality. Eight of these reports using 9 HMs showed global improvement of IBS symptoms, 4 studies with 3 HMs were efficacious in diarrhea-predominant IBS, and 2 studies with 2 HMs showed improvement in constipation- predominant IBS. Out of a total of 1279 patients, 15 adverse events in 47 subjects were reported with HM. No serious adverse events or abnormal laboratory tests were observed. The incidence of the adverse events was low (2.97%; 95% CI: 2.04%-3.90%). CONCLUSION: Herbal medicines have therapeutic benefit in IBS, and adverse events are seldom reported in literature. Nevertheless, herbal medicines should be used with caution. | 14 | Combined genome-wide association study and transcriptome analysis reveal candidate genes for resistance to Fusarium ear rot in maize显示文摘Fusarium ear rot,caused by Fusarium verti-cillioides,is a devastating fungal disease in maize that re-duces yield and quality;moreover,F.verticillioides pro-duces fumonisin mycotoxins,which pose serious threats to human and animal health.Here,we performed a genome-wide association study(GWAS)under three en-vironmental conditions and identified 34 single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)that were significantly associated with Fusarium ear rot resistance.With reference to the maize B73 genome,69 genes that overlapped with or were adjacent to the significant SNPs were identified as potential resistance genes to Fusarium ear rot.Comparing transcriptomes of the most resistant and most susceptible lines during the very early response to Fusarium ear rot,we detected many differentially expressed genes enriched for pathways related to plant immune responses,such as plant hormone signal transduction,phenylpropanoid bio-synthesis,and cytochrome P450 metabolism.More than one-fourth of the potential resistance genes detected in the GWAS were differentially expressed in the tran-scriptome analysis,which allowed us to predict numbers of candidate genes for maize resistance to ear rot,in-cluding genes related to plant hormones,a MAP kinase,a PR5-like receptor kinase,and heat shock proteins.We propose that maize plants initiate early immune responses to Fusarium ear rot mainly by regulating the growth-defense balance and promoting biosynthesis of defense compounds. | Lishan Yao Yanmei Li Chuanyu Ma Lixiu Tong Feili Du Mingliang Xu | 2020 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,10: | 13 |

| 16 | Ultrasensitive skin‐like wearable optical sensors based on glass micro/nanofibers显示文摘Electronic skin,a class of wearable electronic sensors that mimic the functionalities of human skin,has made remarkable success in applications including health monitoring,human-machine interaction and electronic-biological interfaces.While electronic skin continues to achieve higher sensitivity and faster response,its ultimate performance is fundamentally limited by the nature of low-frequency AC currents.Herein,highly sensitive skin-like wearable optical sensors are demonstrated by embedding glass micro/nanofibers(MNFs)in thin layers of polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS).Enabled by the transition from guided modes into radiation modes of the waveguiding MNFs upon external stimuli,the skin-like optical sensors show ultrahigh sensitivity(1870 k·Pa^-1),low detection limit(7 mPa)and fast response(10μs)for pressure sensing,significantly exceeding the performance metrics of state-of-the-art electronic skins.Electromagnetic interference(EMI)-free detection of high-frequency vibrations,wrist pulse and human voice are realized.Moreover,a five-sensor optical data glove and a 2×2-MNF tactile sensor are demonstrated.These initial results pave the way toward a new category of optical devices ranging from ultrasensitive wearable sensors to optical skins. | Lei Zhang Jing Pan Zhang Zhang Hao Wu Ni Yao Dawei Cai Yingxin Xu Jin Zhang Guofei Sun Liqiang Wang Weidong Geng Wenguang Jin Wei Fang Dawei Di Limin Tong | 2020 | Opto-Electronic Advances2020,3,3: | 12 |
| 17 | Interaction of aerodynamic roughness length and windflow conditions and its parameterization over vegetation surface显示文摘Surface aerodynamic roughness length is usually taken as a constant. In fact, it displays a remarkable dynamic change over underlying vegetation surfaces, because of the coupling of land surface roughness elements and windflow conditions. Current international research on this dynamic change and associated mechanisms is very limited. Using observations from different underlying surfaces (including forest, farmland and grassland) provided by a northern China coordinated observation test, the variation of aerodynamic roughness length, along with wind speed and friction velocity, is analyzed. We introduce two relationship fits, between aerodynamic roughness length and wind speed u, and dynamic variable u2/u*. Results show that aerodynamic roughness length has a clear dynamic change, and has complicated interactions with near-surface windflow. Further, the relationship fits between aerodynamic roughness length, u and u2/u*, are not only related to the roughness properties of the underlying vegetation surface (e.g. plant height), but also to plant dynamic response characteristics (e.g. flexibility). Aerodynamic roughness length decreases with increasing wind speed, because near-surface windflow conditions can change both plant roughness properties and airflow. However, the change of aerodynamic roughness length with friction velocity is complicated, and its sensitivities and transition points significantly depend on vegetation type. For underlying surfaces of forest and corn, with relatively substantial vegetative cover, roughness length correlates well with wind speed. For a surface with short vegetative cover, like natural lawn, the correlation is low. However, for all of the three vegetative surfaces, there is a close relation between roughness length and u2/u*, and their coefficients of fit from testing essentially represent the plant height and flexibility of different vegetation types. | 19 | Efficacy of chitosan and sodium alginate scaffolds for repair of spinal cord injury in rats显示文摘Spinal cord injury results in the loss of motor and sensory pathways and spontaneous regeneration of adult mammalian spinal cord neurons is limited. Chitosan and sodium alginate have good biocompatibility, biodegradability, and are suitable to assist the recovery of damaged tissues, such as skin, bone and nerve. Chitosan scaffolds, sodium alginate scaffolds and chitosan-sodium alginate scaffolds were separately transplanted into rats with spinal cord hemisection. Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan locomotor rating scale scores and electrophysiological results showed that chitosan scaffolds promoted recovery of locomotor capacity and nerve transduction of the experimental rats. Sixty days after surgery, chitosan scaffolds retained the original shape of the spinal cord. Compared with sodium alginate scaffolds-and chitosan-sodium alginate scaffolds-transplanted rats, more neurofilament-H-immunoreactive cells(regenerating nerve fibers) and less glial fibrillary acidic protein-immunoreactive cells(astrocytic scar tissue) were observed at the injury site of experimental rats in chitosan scaffold-transplanted rats. Due to the fast degradation rate of sodium alginate, sodium alginate scaffolds and composite material scaffolds did not have a supporting and bridging effect on the damaged tissue.
