1Opening and evolution of the South China Sea constrained by studies on volcanic rocks:Preliminary results and a research design显示文摘The South China Sea (SCS) is characterized by abundant seamounts, which provide important information about the evolution of the SCS and related deep processes. Cenozoic volcanism in the SCS and its surroundings comprises three stages relative to the spreading of the SCS:prespreading (>32 Ma), syn-spreading (32-16 Ma), and post-spreading (<16 Ma). The pre-spreading magmatism predominantly occurs on the northern margin of the SCS and in South China coastal areas and shows a bi-modal affinity. The syn-spreading magmatic activity was very limited on the periphery of the SCS, but may be concentrated in the SCS. However, seafloor samples of this stage are not available yet because of overlying thick sedimentary deposits. Post-spreading magmatism is widespread in the central and southwest sub-basins of the SCS, Hainan Island, Leizhou Peninsula, Thailand, and Vietnam. These are mainly alkali basalts with subordinate tholeiites, and display OIB-type geochemical characteristics. The Dupal isotope anomaly and presence of high-magnesian olivine phenocrysts suggests their possible derivation from the Hainan mantle plume. The temporal and spatial distribution of Cenozoic volcanism in the SCS and its surroundings may be accounted for either by plate stress re-organization before and after SCS spreading, or by ridge suction of plume flow during opening of the SCS. If the latter is the case, the volcanic rocks within the SCS basin may not be typical mid-ocean ridge basalts (MORB). It remains puz-zling, however, that the transition between the South China continental margin and the SCS basin does not have features typical of a volcanic rifted margin. Clearly, the relationship between mantle plume and SCS opening needs further evaluation. 2Precise measurement of stable (δ^(88/86)Sr) and radiogenic (^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr) strontium isotope ratios in geological standard reference materials using MC-ICP-MS显示文摘A new method for high-precision measurements of stable (δ88/86Sr) and radiogenic (87Sr/86Sr) Sr isotope ratios was developed on the MC-ICP-MS using a standard-sample-standard bracketing protocol. By carefully monitoring and controlling the accumulation of the on-peak backgrounds (i.e. the carryover memory) on the instrument, our method can provide an external precision of around 0.010‰ to 0.014‰ for 88/86 Sr measurements. Such precision is comparable to that achieved by double-spike TIMS method (DS-TIMS), and 2-3 times better than those of the previously reported results by MC-ICP-MS without spiking. The results of the standard seawater IAPSO are also identical to those by DS-TIMS. However, our method is more advantageous, efficient and convenient to use for routine Sr isotopic analysis than the DS-TIMS method as there is no need to prepare and calibrate the 84Sr-87 Sr double spike. Using this method, we measured the δ88/86Sr values in a series of international geological rock standards, which show large variability, with the lowest value (0.20‰) registered in JG-2, a terrestrial granite, and the highest value (0.539‰) in UB-N, a serpentinite. 3Molecular phylogeny of coronaviruses including human SARS-CoV显示文摘Phylogenetic tree of coronaviruses (CoVs) in-cluding the human SARS-associated virus is reconstructed from complete genomes by using our newly developed K- string composition approach. The relation of the human SARS-CoV to other coronaviruses, i.e. the rooting of the tree is suggested by choosing an appropriate outgroup. SARS-CoV makes a separate group closer but still distant from G2 (CoVs in mammalian host). The relation between different isolates of the human SARS virus is inferred by first constructing an ultrametric distance matrix from counting sequence variations in the genomes. The resulting tree is consistent with clinic relations between the SARS-CoV isolates. 5High-throughput sequencing exclusively identified a novel Torque teno virus genotype in serum of a patient with fatal fever显示文摘Torque teno virus(TTV) has been found to be prevalent world-wide in healthy populations and in patients with various diseases, but its etiological role has not yet been determined. Using high-throughput unbiased sequencing to screen for viruses in the serum of a patient with persistent high fever who died of suspected viral infection and prolonged weakness, we identified the complete genome sequence of a TTV(isolate Hebei-1). The genome of TTV-Hebei-1 is 3649 bp in length, encoding four putative open reading frames, and it has a G+C content of 49%. Genomic comparison and a BLASTN search revealed that the assembled genome of TTV-Hebei-1 represented a novel isolate, with a genome sequence that was highly heterologous to the sequences of other reported TTV strains. A phylogenetic tree constructed using the complete genome sequence showed that TTV-Hebei-1 and an uncharacterized Taiwan Residents strain, TW53A37, constitute a new TTV genotype. The patient was strongly suspected of carrying a viral infection and died eventually without any other possible causes being apparent. No virus other than the novel TTV was identified in his serum sample. 6Development of Solar Spectroradiometer for Meteorological Observation显示文摘A newgeneration of solar spectroradiometer has been developed by CUST/JRSI to improve solarirradiance observation data under hyperspectral resolution. It is based on the grating spectroradiometer with a back-thinned CCD linear image sensor and is operated in a hermetically sealed enclosure. The solar spectroradiometer is designed to measure the solar spectral irradiance from300 nm to 1100 nm wavelength range with the spectral resolution of 2 nm( the full width at half maximum). The optical bench is optimized to minimize stray light. 9Comparative study on the weight loss and lipid metabolism by tea polyphenols in diet induced obese C57BL/6J pseudo germ free and conventionalized mice显示文摘The role of gut microbiota in terms of host health is becoming increasingly important.In this study,the comparative effects of tea polyphenols(TPs)on weight loss and lipid metabolism on conventionalized mice(CVZ)and pseudo germ-free(PGF)mice(treated with antibiotics)were investigated.Our findings revealed that high fat(HF)diet considerably increased the body weight,total fat and upsurge lipid indices in CVZ mice but PGF mice were not sensitive to the effect of HF diet as CVZ mice.After the dietary administration of TP,body weight,perirenal fat and epididymal fat,liver weight,glucose(GLU)level,total chloestrol(TC level),high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C)level significantly lowered in PGF mice as compared to CVZ mice group.However,the area of fat cells and triglyceride(TG)level were significantly increased in PGF mice.In CVZ mice,TP intervention resulted in a considerable drop in the Firmicutes/Bacteroides ratio as compared to PGF mice.The intestinal flora of PGF mice was severely reduced after antibiotic treatment,while TP administration restored intestinal diversity;the abundance of Akkermansia and Lactobacillus increased,whereas the abundance of Enterobacteriaceae and Prevotella reduced.Overall,we can assume that PGF obese mice administered with TP have less anti-obesity effects compared to obese CVZ mice.Kashif Hussain Yingying Yang Jie Wang Hengjuan Bian Xi Lei Junjie Chen Qianying Li Li Wang Qingping Zhong Xiang Fang Yutao Wang Hong Wei Yigang Tong Zhenlin Liao 2022Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,3:2

13Changes of Aroma Components in 'Keitt' Mango during the Postharvest Period显示文摘[Objective]This study aimed to investigate the changes of aroma components in mango fruit at different post-harvest stages.[Method]The aroma components in‘Keitt'mango fruit at 3,6,9 and 13 d postharvest were extracted using head-space solid phase microextraction( HS-SPME) and analyzed by gas chromatograph-mass spectrophotometer( GC-MS).[Result]The results showed that a total of 42 aroma compounds were identified from the mango samples at four stages. To be specific,monoterpene and sesquiterpene were the major components; at 3,6,9 and 13 d postharvest,the relative contents of terpene were 94. 24%,98. 91%,55. 32% and 95. 97%,respectively.[Conclusion]1S-( +)-3-carene is the characteristic aroma component in ripe fruit of‘Keitt'mango. 16Djrho2 is involved in regeneration of visual nerves in Dugesia japonica显示文摘The freshwater planarian is a powerful animal model for studying regeneration and stem cell activity in vivo.During regeneration,stem cells(neoblasts in planarian) migrated to the wounding edge to re-build missing parts of the body.However,proteins involved in regulating cell migration during planarian regeneration have not been studied extensively.Here we report two small GTPase genes(Djrho2 and Djrho3) of Dugesia japonica(strain Pek-1).In situ hybridization results indicated that Djrho2 was expressed throughout the body with the exception of the pharynx region while Djrho3 was specifically expressed along the gastro-vascular system.Djrho2 was largely expressed in neoblasts since its expression was sensitive to X-ray irradiation.In Djrho2-RNAi planarians,smaller anterior blastemas were observed in tail fragments during regeneration.Consistently,defective regeneration of visual nerve was detected by immunostainning with VC-1 antibody.These results suggested that Djrho2 is required for proper anterior regeneration in planairan.In contrast,no abnormality was observed after RNAi of Djrho3.We compared protein compositions of control and Djrho2-RNAi planarians using an optimized proteomic approach.Twenty-two up-regulated and 26 de-regulated protein spots were observed in the two-dimensional electrophoresis gels,and 17 proteins were successfully identified by Mass Spectrometry(MS) analysis.Among them,6 actin-binding or cytoskeleton-related proteins were found de-expressed in Djrho2-RNAi animals,suggesting that abnormal cytoskeleton assembling and cell migration were likely reasons of defected regeneration.Changxin Ma Yang Gao Guoliang Chai Hanxia Su Niejun Wang Yigang Yang Chunbo Li Di Miao Wei Wu 2010Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,11:1
