| 1 | Liuwei Dihuang pill suppresses metastasis by regulating the wnt pathway and disrupting β-catenin/T cell factor interactions in a murine model of triple-negative breast cancer显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate if the Liuwei Dihuang pill(LWDHP)can inhibit metastasis to the liver and lungs in mice bearing triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC),and the molecular mechanism underpinning this action.METHODS:Ninety-nine TNBC bearing-mice were distributed randomly to five groups:control(Con),paclitaxel(PTX),low-dose LWDHP(LLP,2.3 g·kg^-1·d^-1),middle-dose LWDHP(MLP,4.6 g·kg^-1·d^-1)and high-dose LWDHP(HLP,9.2 g·kg^-1·d^-1).The LWDHP were administered(p.o.)to the agonal stage.The morphology of BC cells was observed by hematoxylin&eosin staining.Expression of axin-2,β-catenin,T cell factor(TCF),cyclin-D1 and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)was detected by western blotting or immunofluorescence.β-catenin/TCF-1 interaction was measured using a co-immunoprecipitation assay.RESULTS:After LWDHP treatment,metastasis of BC cells to the lungs and liver was inhibited,expression of axin-2 was increased,expression of TCF-1,β-catenin,cyclin-D1 and VEGF was decreased,andβ-catenin/TCF-1 interaction was disrupted.CONCLUSION:The LWDHP could inhibit metastasis of BC cells to the liver and lungs.The molecular mechanism underlying this action may be regulation of protein expression andβ-catenin/TCF-1 interactions in the Wnt pathway. | Zheng Lixiang Zheng Qing Yu Zhipeng Wang Jian Ren Xiaoying Gong Yan Yang Xue Hunag Ping Weng Meizhi Liu Hongning Liu Haizhou | 2019 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2019,39,6: | 9 |
| 2 | Adipocyte-derived SFRP5 inhibits breast cancer cells migration and invasion through Wnt and epithelial-mesenchymal transition signaling pathways显示文摘Objective:Obesity is closely associated with metastasis in breast cancer patients.Secreted frizzled-related protein 5(SFRP5),one of the novel adipokines with anti-inflammatory properties,is associated with obesity.This study aims to study the role of SFRP5 in the crosstalk between obesity and breast cancer metastasis and identify the underlying mechanism.Methods:3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes were differentiated to mature adipocytes and a hypertrophic adipocyte model was induced with palmitic acid(PA).Cell motility was measured in MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 breast cancer cells co-cultured with adipocytes conditioned medium(CM)with or without SFRP5 protein.Wnt and epithelialmesenchymal transition(EMT)signal pathways were investigated by western blot.Circulating SFRP5 level in 218 breast cancer patients and the association with clinicopathologic characteristics of breast cancer were further determined.Online databases ENCORI and PREDICT Plus were used to exam the link between SFRP5 and prognosis.Results:Reduced SFRP5 level was detected in the hypertrophic adipocyte model.Recombinant SFRP5 protein inhibited MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells invasion and migration induced by PA-treated adipocyte CM,and SFRP5 inhibition by specific antibody reversed the effect of SFRP5.Furthermore,SFRP5 significantly inhibited Wnt and downstream EMT in breast cancer cells.Low circulating SFRP5 level correlated with body mass index(BMI),lymph node(LN)metastasis,TNM stage and high Ki67 expression in breast cancer patients.Increased SFRP5 level was associated with favorable predicted survival.Kaplan-Meier curves showed high SFRP5 level in tumor tissue was associated with better outcome of breast cancer patients.Conclusions:Our findings demonstrated SFRP5 is a vital adipokine that mediates the crosslink between obesity and the metastatic potential of breast cancer.Promotion of SFRP5 expression in the adipose microenvironment may represent a novel approach for preventing breast cancer metastasis. | Wenzhong Zhou Chunmiao Ye Liang Li Liyuan Liu Fei Wang Lixiang Yu Fei Zhou Yujuan Xiang Yongjiu Wang Gengshen Yin Zhongbing Ma Qinye Fu Qiang Zhang Dezong Gao Shuya Huang Zhigang Yu | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,3: | 5 |
| 3 | Rice productivity and profitability with slow-release urea containing organic-inorganic matrix materials显示文摘Applying slow-release fertilizers is possible means for reducing nitrogen(N) loss in rice production. Matrix-based fertilizers represent novel slow-release fertilizers. To date, there is little consensus about the effect of combined addition of organic and inorganic matrix materials on rice production. We developed a slow-release urea fertilizer with selected organic and inorganic matrix materials. The study aimed to: i) determine the effect of the slow-release urea on rice yield, profit, and agronomic efficiency and ii) elucidate its possible mechanisms. A two-year field experiment was conducted during 2015–2016. Besides,laboratory experiments were conducted to determine the potential N loss risk. Three treatments were set up: control without N application(CK), regular urea treatment(RU, 150 kg N ha^(-1)), and slow-release urea treatment(SU, 150 kg N ha^(-1)). The results showed that rice biomass and grain yield were significantly higher in SU than in RU(P < 0.05). The higher panicle density in SU was largely responsible for the greater grain yield. Net profit in SU was US$450 ha^(-1), higher than in RU. Agronomic efficiency was significantly greater in SU than in RU(P < 0.05). Rice height, root area, leaf chlorophyll, leaf nitrate reductase activity, and leaf glutamine synthetase activity were larger in SU than in RU. Less N loss and greater soil N availability were partly responsible for the improvements in rice growth traits and physiological parameters in SU. | 5 | To inhibit coffee ring effect in inkjet printing of light-emitting polymer films by decreasing capillary force显示文摘Polymer thin film with uniform thickness and flat surface profile is the key point for polymer light emitting diodes(PLEDs) by inkjet printing. However, the coffee ring effect is usually observed due to the mismatch between the evaporation of the solvent and the decrease of solution volume, which promotes the formation of radial flow from the interior of the drop to the edge. In this paper, coffee ring effects of inkjet printed poly(spirobifluorene) films were proposed to be restrained by decreasing capillary force by adding co-solvent with high boiling point and high viscosity to the main solvent. The low evaporation rate of the co-solvent can reduce the driving force of the radial flow; meanwhile the high viscosity of the co-solvent can increase the resistance of the radial flow. Thus, polymer films with improve uniformity can be obtained due to the suppression of the radial flow. | 6 | Abnormal Effective Connectivity of the Anterior Forebrain Regions in Disorders of Consciousness显示文摘A number of studies have indicated that disorders of consciousness result from multifocal injuries as well as from the impaired functional and anatomical connectivity between various anterior forebrain regions.However, the specific causal mechanism linking these regions remains unclear. In this study, we used spectral dynamic causal modeling to assess how the effective connections(ECs) between various regions differ between individuals. Next, we used connectome-based predictive modeling to evaluate the performance of the ECs in predicting the clinical scores of DOC patients. We found increased ECs from the striatum to the globus pallidus as well as from the globus pallidus to the posterior cingulate cortex, and decreased ECs from the globus pallidus to the thalamus and from the medial prefrontal cortex to the striatum in DOC patients as compared to healthy controls.Prediction of the patients' outcome was effective using the negative ECs as features. In summary, the present study highlights a key role of the thalamo-basal ganglia-cortical loop in DOCs and supports the anterior forebrain mesocircuit hypothesis. | 14 | Vegetation Phenology in Permafrost Regions of Northeastern China Based on MODIS and Solar-induced Chlorophyll Fluorescence显示文摘Vegetation phenology is an indicator of vegetation response to natural environmental changes and is of great significance for the study of global climate change and its impact on terrestrial ecosystems.The normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)and enhanced vegetation index(EVI),extracted from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer(MODIS),are widely used to monitor phenology by calculating land surface reflectance.However,the applicability of the vegetation index based on‘greenness'to monitor photosynthetic activity is hindered by poor observation conditions(e.g.,ground shadows,snow,and clouds).Recently,satellite measurements of solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence(SIF)from OCO-2 sensors have shown great potential for studying vegetation phenology.Here,we tested the feasibility of SIF in extracting phenological metrics in permafrost regions of the northeastern China,exploring the characteristics of SIF in the study of vegetation phenology and the differences between NDVI and EVI.The results show that NDVI has obvious SOS advance and EOS lag,and EVI is closer to SIF.The growing season length based on SIF is often the shortest,while it can represent the true phenology of vegetation because it is closely related to photosynthesis.SIF is more sensitive than the traditional remote sensing indices in monitoring seasonal changes in vegetation phenology and can compensate for the shortcomings of traditional vegetation indices.We also used the time series data of MODIS NDVI and EVI to extract phenological metrics in different permafrost regions.The results show that the length of growing season of vegetation in predominantly continuous permafrost(zone I)is longer than in permafrost with isolated taliks(zone II).Our results have certain significance for understanding the response of ecosystems in cold regions to global climate change. | WEN Lixiang GUO Meng YIN Shuai HUANG Shubo LI Xingli YU Fangbing | 2021 | Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,3: | 1 |
