1Relationship between stomatal density and the changes of atmospheric CO_2 concentrations显示文摘The relationship between the stomatal density of five woody plants endemic to China, i.e. Eucommia ulmoides, Quercus liaotungensis, Q. glandulifera var. brevipetiolata, Cyclocarya paliurus and Ficus heteromorpha, and the atmospheric CO-2 concentrations was studied by observations on leaves of the herbarium-stored specimens(1920s-1990s). 2Intensification of the East Asian Monsoon in Southern China at about300-400 kaBP Inferred from Eolian Deposits in the Middle-lower Reaches of the Yangtze River显示文摘In the East Asian monsoon region,eolian deposits widely distributed in the middle-lower reaches of the Yantgze River are among the best materials available for studies on Quaternary climate change in the subtropical zone of Southern China.Typical eolian deposits in this region include upper Xiashu Loess(XL) and underlying Vermiculated Red Soil(VRS) layers.In this paper,chronological and paleoclimatic studies are conducted on an eolian deposit sequence near Jiujiang(JJ) city in northern Jiangxi province.A magnetostratigraphic study,combined with optically stimulated luminescence(OSL) dating,is conducted on the JJ section and provides further evidence that eolian deposits in the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River have been formed since the late Early Pleistocene,and that the boundary age between the XL and VRS layers is about 300-400 kaBP.In grain-size records of the JJ section,the median grain-size and content of the >30 μm size fraction increase sharply after 300-400 kaBP,representing an East Asian winter monsoon intensification event.Further pollen analysis reveals differing pollen assemblages before and after 300-400 kaBP:there is an evident increase in plants adapted to grow in a warm humid environment after 300-400 kaBP,implying an increase in precipitation caused by intensification of the East Asian summer monsoon.Global ice volume and uplift of the Tibet Plateau(TP) are regarded as crucial factors influencing variations of the East Asian monsoon on a long-term scale.The deep-sea δ^(18)O record,which reflects variations in global ice volume,shows no obvious change after 300-400 kaBP.Moreover,the influence of global ice volume changes on the East Asian summer and winter monsoons is inverse;the global ice volume increase(decrease) implies a strengthened(weakened) winter monsoon and weakened(strengthened) summer monsoon.We therefore interpret the coupled intensifications of the East Asian summer and winter monsoons at about 300-400 kaBP to the uplift of the TP in the Middle Pleistocene.This climate event is also documented in eolian deposits from the southern margin of the Chinese Loess Plateau(CLP) and from the desert-loess transitional belt.However,it is not recorded in the loess-paleosol sequences from the central part of the CLP,thereby indicating differing climate responses to TP uplift in different regions,which requires further study.QI Lin QIAO Yansong LI Yuehui WANG Yan PENG Shasha HE Zexin YANG Shuaibin HAN Chao ZHANG Xujiao 2017Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2017,91,3:3
3Diffusion behavior of Nb element in high Nb containing TiAl Alloys by reactive hot pressing显示文摘Diffusion behavior of Nb in elemental powder metallurgy high Nb containing TiAl alloys was investigated. The results show that Nb element dissolves into the matrix by diffusion. Pore nests are formed in situ after Nb diffusion. With the increase in hot pressing temperature, the diffusion of Nb will be more sufficient, and the microstructure is more homo-geneous. Nb element diffuses completely at 1400°C. Meanwhile, compression deformation and agglomeration phenomena of pores are observed in some pore nests. 4Whole-genome sequencing reveals selection signals among Chinese,Pakistani,and Nepalese goats显示文摘The goat(Capra hircus)is one of the oldest domesticated animal species,with archeological evidence indicating that its earliest domestication from the wild ancestor(bezoar)occurred in the Fertile Crescent 10,000 calibrated calendar years ago(Zeder and Hesse,2000).A variety of well-adapted goat breeds with excellent economic traits have been selected artificially and naturally for human needs in China,Pakistan,and Nepal.For example,cashmere goat breeds produce fine cashmere wool and are mainly distributed on the Himalayan Plateau(e.g.,Nepal and Tibet)and in cold northern China(e.g.,Inner Mongolia and Liaoning).The Toggenburg dairy goat is the most productive breed of dairy goat and is distributed in at least 50 countries on all continents(Ferro et al.,2017).Pakistani ewes are reared mostly for meat and wool purposes,but some are used as dairy goats,such as the Bugi Toori goat and Pateri goat(Bilal et al.,2018).Additionally,indigenous goats of the southern Asian regions are well adapted to the local hot environment.Their unique traits and biodiversity serve as genetic resources that can be used for the artificial breeding of goats.Recently,several studies have provided patterns of genome-wide characteristics in goat populations to explore the underlying genetic basis of trait formation and environmental adaptability in China(Zhang et al.,2018),Pakistan(Kumar et al.,2018),and Nepal(Sasazaki et al.,2021),respectively.However,due to the proximity of these geographic regions,the profiles of genetic differences,gene flow,and common genes related to high trait performance between goat populations from China,Pakistan,and Nepal remain unclear.Yefang Li Ying Gong Zhengkai Zhang Ling Li Xuexue Liu Xiaohong He Qianjun Zhao Yabin Pu Yuehui Ma Lin Jiang 2023Journal of Genetics and Genomics2023,50,5:2
5Atomic-scale structural and chemical evolution of Li3V2(PO4)3 cathode cycled at high voltage window显示文摘Here,by using atomically resolved scanning transmission electron microscopy and electron energy loss spectroscopy,we investigate the structural and chemical evolution of Li3V2(PO4)3 (LVP) upon the high-voltage window (3.0-4.8 V).We find that the valence of vanadium gradually increases towards the core corresponding to the formation of electrochemically inactive Li3-xV2(PO4)3 (L3-xVP) phases.These Li-deficient phases exhibit structure distortion with superstructure stripes,likely caused by the migration of the vanadium,which can slow down the lithium ion diffusion or even block the diffusion channels.Such kinetic limitations lead to the formation of Li-deficient phase along with capacity loss.Thus,the LVP continuously losses of electrochemical activity and Li-deficient phases gradually grow from the particle core towards the surface during cycling.After 500 cycles,the thickness of active LVP layer decreases to be - 5-20 nm.Moreover,the micromorphology and chemical composition of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) have been investigated,indicating the thick SEI film also contributes to the capacity loss.The present work reveals the structural and chemical evolution in the cycled electrode materials at an atomic scale,which is essential to understand the voltage fading and capacity decaying of LVP cathode.Shulin Chen Jian Zou Yuehui Li Ning Li Mei Wu Jinghuang Lin Jingmin Zhang Jian Cao Jicai Feng Xiaobin Niu Jianming Bai Junlei Qi Peng Gao Liping Wang Hong Li 2019Nano Research2019,12,7:1

8A review of the pangenome:how it affects our understanding of genomic variation,selection and breeding in domestic animals?显示文摘As large-scale genomic studies have progressed,it has been revealed that a single reference genome pattern cannot represent genetic diversity at the species level.While domestic animals tend to have complex routes of origin and migration,suggesting a possible omission of some population-specific sequences in the current reference genome.Conversely,the pangenome is a collection of all DNA sequences of a species that contains sequences shared by all individuals(core genome)and is also able to display sequence information unique to each individual(variable genome).The progress of pangenome research in humans,plants and domestic animals has proved that the missing genetic components and the identification of large structural variants(SVs)can be explored through pangenomic studies.Many individual specific sequences have been shown to be related to biological adaptability,phenotype and important economic traits.The maturity of technologies and methods such as third-generation sequencing,Tel-omere-to-telomere genomes,graphic genomes,and reference-free assembly will further promote the development of pangenome.In the future,pangenome combined with long-read data and multi-omics will help to resolve large SVs and their relationship with the main economic traits of interest in domesticated animals,providing better insights into animal domestication,evolution and breeding.In this review,we mainly discuss how pangenome analysis reveals genetic variations in domestic animals(sheep,cattle,pigs,chickens)and their impacts on phenotypes and how this can contribute to the understanding of species diversity.Additionally,we also go through potential issues and the future perspectives of pangenome research in livestock and poultry.Ying Gong Yefang Li Xuexue Liu Yuehui Ma Lin Jiang 2023Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,5:1

12Densification behavior of high Nb containing TiAl alloys through reactive hot pressing显示文摘Densification behavior of high Nb containing TiAl alloys through reactive hot pressing was investigated. The results showed that the density of the sample hot pressed at 1400°C could reach a near full density of 98.37%. However, the densification abnormality was observed at 1500°C. The diffusion of elemental Nb during microstructural evolution is an important aspect affecting densification, which will form pore nests. With the increase of hot pressing temperature, the diffusion of Nb becomes more adequate. 13Genomic regions under selection for important traits in domestic horse breeds显示文摘Horses were domesticated 5500 years ago,thousands of years later than other domestic animals;however, in this relatively short period, domestic horses have had a great impact on human history by accelerating civilization, revolutionizing warfare and advancing agricultural production. Modern breeding using markerassisted selection has greatly accelerated breeding progress. Therefore, identification of genetic markers underlying the traits of interest in domestic horses is the basis for the modern breeding system. In this review, we present an overview of genetic mapping studies and genome wide analyses to identify the genomic regions targeted by positive selection for four important aspects of horses, coat color, racing performance, gait and height at withers. The MC1 R locus, for example, has been shown to be the main gene responsible for chestnut color, and the MSTN locus has been shown to control the muscle fiber growth in racing breeds. The missense mutation in DMRT3 is the causal mutation for the alternate gaits in horses. 16Boosting wheat functional genomics via an indexed EMS mutant library of KN9204显示文摘A better understanding of wheat functional genomics can improve targeted breeding for better agronomic traits and environmental adaptation.However,the lack of gene-indexed mutants and the low transformation efficiency of wheat limit in-depth gene functional studies and genetic manipulation for breeding.In this study,we created a library for KN9204,a popular wheat variety in northern China,with a reference genome,transcriptome,and epigenome of different tissues,using ethyl methyl sulfonate(EMS)mutagenesis.This library contains a vast developmental diversity of critical tissues and transition stages.Exome capture sequencing of 2090 mutant lines using KN9204 genome-designed probes revealed that 98.79%of coding genes had mutations,and each line had an average of 1383 EMS-type SNPs.We identified new allelic variations for crucial agronomic trait-related genes such as Rht-D1,Q,TaTB1,and WFZP.We tested 100 lines with severemutations in 80 NAC transcription factors(TFs)under drought and salinity stress and identified 13 lines with altered sensitivity.Further analysis of three lines using transcriptome and chromatin accessibility data revealed hundreds of direct NAC targets with altered transcription patterns under salt or drought stress,including SNAC1,DREB2B,CML16,and ZFP182,factors known to respond to abiotic stress.Thus,we have generated and indexed a KN9204 EMS mutant library that can facilitate functional genomics research and offer resources for genetic manipulation of wheat.Dongzhi Wang Yongpeng Li Haojie Wang Yongxin Xu Yiman Yang Yuxin Zhou Zhongxu Chen Yuqing Zhou Lixuan Gui Yi Guo Chunjiang Zhou Wenqiang Tang Shuzhi Zheng Lei Wang Xiulin Guo Yingjun Zhang Fa Cui Xuelei Lin Yuling Jiao Yuehui He Junming Li Fei He Xigang Liu Jun Xiao 2023Plant Communications2023,4,4:0
17Forecasting the development of the COVID-19 epidemic by nowcasting: when did things start to get better?显示文摘Background:Now the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)epidemic becomes a global phenomenon and its development concerns billions of peoples1 lives.The development of the COVID-19 epidemic in China could be used as a reference for the other countries,control strategy.Methods:We used a classical susceptible-infected-recovered(SIR)model to forecast the development of the COVID-19 epidemic in China by nowcasring.The linear regression analyses were employed to predict the COVID-19 epidemic’s inflexion point.Finally,we used a susceptible-exposed-infected-recovered(SEIR)model to simulate the development of the COVID-19 epidemic in China throughout 2020.Results:Our nowcasts show that the COVID-19 transmission rate started to slow down on January 30.The linear regression analyses further show that the inflexion point of this epidemic would arrive between February 17 and 18.The final SEIR model simulation forecasted that the COVID-19 epidemic would probably infect about 82,000 people and last throughout 2020 in China.We also applied our method to USA's and global COVID-19 data and the nowcasts show that the development of COVID-19 pandemic is not optimistic in the rest of 2020.Conclusion:The COVID-19 epidemic's scale in China is much smaller than the previous estimations.After implemented strict control and prevention measures,such as city lockdown,it took a week to slow down the COVID-19 transmission and about four weeks to really mitigate the COVID-19 prevalence in China.Yuehui Zhang Lin Chen Qili Shi Zhongguang Luo Libing Shen 2021Quantitative Biology2021,9,1:0
18Observation of a higher JAK2 V617F homozygous mutated clone in polycythemia vera compared to essential thrombocythemia显示文摘Single-tube bi-directional allele specific amp-lification(SB-ASA)and real-time quantitative polymer-ase chain reaction(RQ-PCR)assays were developed and performed for JAK2V617F detection on 40 polycythemia vera(PV)samples,31 essential thrombocythemia(ET)samples,40 acute leukemia samples,and 40 healthy con-trol samples.Differences between detect limitations of the two assays and their influence on the mutation detection rate were analyzed.The results showed that in some sam-ples,the JAK2V617F burden was as low as nearly 1%,and thus more JAK2V617F-positive samples were detected by RQ-PCR than by SB-ASA assay due to the former higher detect limitation.Mutation allele ratios in PV and ET samples and their relevance to biological char-acteristics were also analyzed.The results showed that the mutation allele ratio was 0.436±0.261 in PV,higher than the 0.216±0.207 in ET;percentage of certainly homo-zygous mutation carriers in PV was 40.54%,higher than the 10%in ET.However,statistical analysis showed no relevance between mutation allele burden and sex or age.Our result shows that the pathogenesis of PV and ET may be related to the mutation allele burden of JAK2V617F.Hongxing LIU Chunrong TONG Peng CAI Jiangying GU Yuehui LIN Ying ZHANG Wen TENG He WANG Ping ZHU 2008Frontiers of Medicine2008,2,3:0
