| 1 | Effects of Bacillus coagulans supplementation on the growth performance and gut health of broiler chickens with Clostridium perfringens-induced necrotic enteritis显示文摘Background: The poultry industry is in need of effective antibiotic alternatives to control outbreaks of necrotic enteritis(NE) due to Clostridium perfringens.Methods: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of feeding Bacil us coagulans on the growth performance and gut health of broiler chickens with C. perfringens-induced NE. Two hundred and forty 1-day-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned to a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement with two dietary B. coagulans levels(0 or 4 × 109 CFU/kg of diet) and two disease chal enge statuses(control or NE chal enged).Results: NE-induced reduction in body weight gain was relieved by the addition of B. coagulans into broiler diets compared with the NE-infected birds. NE infection damaged intestinal morphological structure, promoted intestinal C.perfringens growth and liver invasion, and enhanced anti-C. perfringens specific sI gA concentrations in the gut and specific IgG levels in serum compared with the uninfected birds. NE infection significantly(P < 0.05) decreased mucin-2(at 14 d post-infection(DPI), tol-like receptor 2(TLR2, at 7 and 14 DPI), TLR4(at 7 and 14 DPI), tumor necrosis factor super family15(TNFSF15, at 7 and 14 DPI), lysozyme(LYZ, at 14 DPI) and fowlicidin-2(at 7 and 14 DPI) mR NA levels, whereas it dramatical y(P = 0.001) increased IFN-γ mR NA levels at 7 DPI. However, chal enged birds fed diets supplemented with B.coagulans showed a significant(P < 0.01) decrease in gut lesion scores, decreased C. perfringens numbers in the cecum and liver, and an increase in fowlicidin-2 mR NA levels in compared with the uninfected birds. | 4 | The application and efficacy of stent place for Budd-Chiari syndrome显示文摘Objective To evaluate the application value and efficacy on stent place for Budd-Chiari syndrome(BCS). Methods From January 1990 to May 2017, 2228 patients with BCS were admitted to our institution. The mean age was 43.3 years. Stents were placed in inferior vena cava(IVC), hepatic vein(HV), or both after balloon dilation. During follow-up period, the patency of stent was evaluated by ultrasound regularly and the clinic sign was surveyed by letter, telephone or clinic visit. The restenosis of stent were treated with balloon dilatation and thrombolysis to restore the its function. Results IVC type was diagnosed in 1492 cases, HV type in 510 cases, and mixed type in 226 cases. Eighteen patients aborted treatment because of economic reasons, advanced liver cancer, severe scoliosis, or both bilateral iliac veins and total IVC occlusion. Among the other 2210 cases who underwent endovascular therapy, stents were implanted into IVC in 339 cases, HV in 97 cases, mixed type in 64 cases. The rate of restenosis in IVC stent was 11.50%(39/339). After repeat angioplasty, the long-term patency rate reached to 98.12%. The incidence of HV occlusion caused by IVC stent was 12.09%(n = 41). Restenosis occurred in 47 cases(48.45%) after HV stent placement. However, the 5-year patency rate was 91.75%(89/97) after repeat dilatation and stent re-implantation. The incidence of IVC obstruction caused by HV was 3.33%(3 cases). Conclusion IVC stent placement appears to be an effective treatment for the cases of IVC segmental occlusion, and at the same time, the stent has the dual role of compression and fixation of thrombus and support of lumen. The HV and accessory hepatic vein obstruction could happen when the IVC stent crossed these veins ostium. | 6 | Strongly Coupled 2D Transition Metal Chalcogenide-MXene-Carbonaceous Nanoribbon Heterostructures with Ultrafast Ion Transport for Boosting Sodium/Potassium Ions Storage显示文摘Combining with the advantages of two-dimensional(2D)nanomaterials,MXenes have shown great potential in next generation rechargeable batteries.Similar with other 2D materials,MXenes generally suffer severe self-agglomeration,low capacity,and unsatisfied durability,particularly for larger sodium/potassium ions,compromising their practical values.In this work,a novel ternary heterostructure self-assembled from transition metal selenides(MSe,M=Cu,Ni,and Co),MXene nanosheets and N-rich carbonaceous nanoribbons(CNRibs)with ultrafast ion transport properties is designed for sluggish sodium-ion(SIB)and potassium-ion(PIB)batteries.Benefiting from the diverse chemical characteristics,the positively charged MSe anchored onto the electronegative hydroxy(-OH)functionalized MXene surfaces through electrostatic adsorption,while the fungal-derived CNRibs bonded with the other side of MXene through amino bridging and hydrogen bonds.This unique MXene-based heterostructure prevents the restacking of 2D materials,increases the intrinsic conductivity,and most importantly,provides ultrafast interfacial ion transport pathways and extra surficial and interfacial storage sites,and thus,boosts the high-rate storage performances in SIB and PIB applications.Both the quantitatively kinetic analysis and the density functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed that the interfacial ion transport is several orders higher than that of the pristine MXenes,which delivered much enhanced Na+(536.3 mAh g^(−1)@0.1 A g^(−1))and K^(+)(305.6 mAh g^(−1)@1.0 A g^(−1))storage capabilities and excel-lent long-term cycling stability.Therefore,this work provides new insights into 2D materials engineering and low-cost,but kinetically sluggish post-Li batteries. | Junming Cao Junzhi Li Dongdong Li Zeyu Yuan Yuming Zhang Valerii Shulga Ziqi Sun Wei Han | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,7: | 5 |
| 7 | Robust Collaborative Optimization Method Based on Dual-response Surface显示文摘A novel method for robust collaborative design of complex products based on dual-response surface (DRS-RCO) is proposed to solve multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) problems under uncertainty. Collaborative optimization (CO) which decomposes the whole system into a double-level nonlinear optimization problem is widely accepted as an efficient method to solve MDO problems. In order to improve the quality of complex product in design process, robust collaborative optimization (RCO) is developed to solve those problems under uncertain conditions. RCO does optimization on the linear sum of mean and standard deviation of objective function and gets an optimal solution with high robustness. Response surfaces method is an important way to do approximation in robust design. DRS-RCO is an improved RCO method in which dual-response surface replaces system uncertainty analysis module of CO. The dual-response surface is the approximate model of mean and standard deviation of objective function respectively. In DRS-RCO, All the information of subsystems is included in dual-response surfaces. As an additional item, the standard deviation of objective function is added to the subsystem optimization. This item guarantee both the mean and standard deviation of this subsystem is reaching the minima at the same time. Functional genomic analyses in Tetrahymena present rich opportunities to address fundamental questions of cell and molecular biology. The Tetrahymena Gene Expression Database (TGED; available at http://gffzz5d146715fb2e495ehkv6nv5f0vqob6kpf.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn) is the first expression database of a ciliated protozoan. It covers three major physiological and developmental states: growth, starvation, and conjugation, and can be accessed through a user-friendly web interface. The gene expression profiles and candidate co-expressed genes for each gene can be retrieved using Gene ID or Gene description searches. Descriptions of standardized methods of sample preparation and the opportunity to add new Tetrahymena microarray data will be of great interest to the Tetrahymena research community. | 10 | New insights into the associations among feed efficiency, metabolizable efficiency traits and related QTL regions in broiler chickens显示文摘Background: Improving the feed efficiency would increase profitability for producers while also reducing the environmental footprint of livestock production. This study was conducted to investigate the relationships among feed efficiency traits and metabolizable efficiency traits in 180 male broilers. Significant loci and genes affecting the metabolizable efficiency traits were explored with an imputation-based genome-wide association study. The traits measured or calculated comprised three growth traits, five feed efficiency related traits, and nine metabolizable efficiency traits.Results: The residual feed intake(RFI) showed moderate to high and positive phenotypic correlations with eight other traits measured, including average daily feed intake(ADFI), dry excreta weight(DEW), gross energy excretion(GEE), crude protein excretion(CPE), metabolizable dry matter(MDM), nitrogen corrected apparent metabolizable energy(AMEn), abdominal fat weight(Ab F), and percentage of abdominal fat(Ab P). Greater correlations were observed between growth traits and the feed conversion ratio(FCR) than RFI. In addition, the RFI, FCR, ADFI, DEW,GEE, CPE, MDM, AMEn, Ab F, and Ab P were lower in low-RFI birds than high-RFI birds(P < 0.01 or P < 0.05), whereas the coefficients of MDM and MCP of low-RFI birds were greater than those of high-RFI birds(P < 0.01). Five narrow QTLs for metabolizable efficiency traits were detected, including one 82.46-kb region for DEW and GEE on Gallus gallus chromosome(GGA) 26, one 120.13-kb region for MDM and AMEn on GGA1, one 691.25-kb region for the coefficients of MDM and AMEn on GGA5, one region for the coefficients of MDM and MCP on GGA2(103.45–103.53 Mb), and one 690.50-kb region for the coefficient of MCP on GGA14. Linkage disequilibrium(LD) analysis indicated that the five regions contained high LD blocks, as well as the genes chromosome 26 C6 orf106 homolog(C26 H6 orf106), LOC396098, SH3 and multiple ankyrin repeat domains 2(SHANK2), ETS homologous factor(EHF), and histamine receptor H3-like(HRH3 L), which are known to be involved in the regulation of neurodevelopment, cell proliferation and differentiation, and food intake.Conclusions: Selection for low RFI significantly decreased chicken feed intake, excreta output, and abdominal fat deposition, and increased nutrient digestibility without changing the weight gain. Five novel QTL regions involved in the control of metabolizable efficiency in chickens were identified. | 11 | QTL mapping for grain number per spikelet in wheat using a high-density genetic map显示文摘Grain number per spikelet (GNS) is a key determinant of grain yield in wheat.A recombinant inbred line population comprising 300 lines was developed from a cross between a high GNS variety H461 and Chinese Spring from which the reference genome assembly of bread wheat was obtained.Both parents and the recombinant inbred lines were genotyped using the wheat 55K single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) array.A high-density genetic map containing 21,197 SNPs was obtained.These markers covered each of the 21 chromosomes with a total linkage distance of 3792.71 c M.Locations of these markers in this linkage map were highly consistent with their physical locations in the genome assembly of Chinese Spring.The two parents and the whole RIL population were assessed for GNS in two consecutive years at two different locations.Based on multi-environment phenotype data and best liner unbiased prediction values,three quantitative trait loci (QTL) for GNS were identified.One of them located on chromosomes 2B and the other two on 2D.Phenotypic variation explained by these loci varied from 3.07%to26.57%.One of these QTL,QGns.sicau-2D-2,was identified in each of all trials conducted.Based on the best linear unbiased prediction values,this locus explained 19.59%–26.57%of phenotypic variation.A KASP(Kompetitive Allele-Specific PCR) marker closely linked with this locus was generated and used to validate the effects of this locus in three different genetic backgrounds.The identified QTL and the KASP marker developed for it will be highly valuable in fine-mapping the locus and in exploiting it for markerassisted selection in wheat breeding programs. | Yu Lin Xiaojun Jiang Haiyan Hu Kunyu Zhou Qing Wang Shifan Yu Xilan Yang Zhiqiang Wang Fangkun Wu Shihang Liu Caixia Li Mei Deng Jian Ma Guangdeng Chen Yuming Wei Youliang Zheng Yaxi Liu | 2021 | The Crop Journal2021,9,5: | 4 |
| 12 | Ascorbic acid synthesis and transportation capacity in old laying hens and the effects of dietary supplementation with ascorbic acid显示文摘Background: Laying hens over 75 weeks of age commonly show great declines in immunity and production performance.It is unclear whether these declines can be relieved by supplementing with ascorbic acid(AA) in feed.Two trials were conducted to investigate the synthesis and metabolism of AA in layers of different ages and the effects of dietary supplemental AA on the performance and the immune and antioxidant statuses of 78 weeks old hens.Methods: In Exp.1,equal numbers(24 hens) of 35 weeks old(Young) and 75 weeks old(Old) layers were fed the same diet without AA supplementation for 4 weeks.In Exp.2,360 healthy 78 weeks old laying hens were randomly assigned to 4 treatments(basal diet supplemented with 0,0.25,0.5,or 1 g AA/kg diet) in an 8-week feeding trial.Results: The old hens tended to have decreased L-gulonolactone oxidase(GLO) synthase activity in the kidney and liver than that of the young hens(P = 0.07 and P = 0.05,respectively).Compared with the young hens,the old hens had lower hepatic antioxidant capacity allowing for the lower thioredoxin(TXN),thioredoxin reductase(TXNR) and cytochrome b5 reductase(CYB5 R) gene expression(P < 0.05),whereas increased sodium-dependent vitamin C transporter(SVCT) 1 expression levels in the ileum and kidney and enhanced splenic and hepatic AA concentrations(P < 0.05).Dietary supplementation with AA significantly decreased GLO enzyme activity but increased splenic AA concentration and anti-bovine serum albumin IgG levels(P < 0.05) and tended to increase CD4+T lymphocyte numbers(P = 0.06) in serum.Supplementation of 0.25 g AA/kg diet significantly increased hepatic total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC,P < 0.05) relative to the control group.Conclusions: Laying hens could synthesize AA in both the kidney and the liver,though the GLO enzyme activities were 100 times greater in kidneys than in livers.The old laying hens had greater absorption and reabsorption capacity and higher AA retention in some tissues that did the young hens.Dietary supplementation of AA can improve the health of old layers by enhancing immunity and antioxidant capacity. | Liping Gan Hao Fan Wei Nie Yuming Guo | 2019 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2019,10,1: | 3 |
| 13 | Effects of anthropogenic disturbance on richness-dependent stability in Napahai plateau wetland显示文摘Unique plateau wetlands in China provide essential ecosystem functions and services and influence the health,environment and security of the downstream regions.In recent years,these plateau wetlands have experienced significant anthropogenic disturbance,but studies that evaluate the effects of such disturbance on ecological stability are rare.Our study tested how three typical types of human-related activities affect plant richness and ecological stability in Napahai plateau wetland,Shangri-La,China.The results showed that the anthropogenic disturbance had a direct effect on richness,and an indirect effect on stability mediated by richness.Anthropogenic disturbance did not alter the positive relationship between plant richness and community stability,and the stabilizing effect of richness could be explained by statistical averaging,overyielding effect,and component population stability.Our study complements previous studies that tested the richness-stability relationships in synthesized assemblages with richness specifically manipulated and studies that introduced mowing treatment to mimic real anthropogenic disturbance.The results further suggest that necessary steps,such as anthropogenic disturbance mitigation and plant richness conservation,are urgently required for maintaining healthy plateau wetlands and for sustaining their ecosystem functions and services. | LI Wei TAN Rui WANG Juan DU Fan YANG YuMing | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,33: | 3 |

| 16 | Effect of dietary nonphytate phosphorus on laying performance and small intestinal epithelial phosphate transporter expression in Dwarf pink-shell laying hens显示文摘This study examined the effects of various levels of dietary nonphytate phosphorus on laying performance and the expression patterns of phosphorus metabolism related genes in Dwarf pink-shell laying hens.A total of 40528-week-old Dwarf pink-shell laying hens were fed the same corn-soybean basal meals but containing 0.20%,0.25%,0.30%,0.35%or 0.40%nonphytate phosphorus.The results showed that feed intake,egg production,and average egg weights were quadratically correlated with dietary nonphytate phosphorus content(P< 0.05),and the highest egg production,feed intake and average egg weights were achieved when dietary nonphytate phosphorus was at 0.3%(P< 0.05).mRNA expression of intestinal sodium phosphorus co-transporter linearly decreased when dietary nonphytate phosphorus increased.mRNA and protein expression of intestinal calbindin and vitamin D receptor correlated quadratically with dietary nonphytate phosphorus,and the highest expression was found when dietary available phosphorus was at 0.25%to 0.3%.In conclusion,the ideal phosphorus requirement for Dwarf pink-shell layer hens is estimated to be 0.3%in a corn-soybean diet.With this level of phosphorus supplementation,calbindin and vitamin D receptor reached their highest expression. | Wei Nie Ying Yang Jianmin Yuan Zhong Wang Yuming Guo | 2014 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2014,5,3: | 3 |

| 20 | Comparative study of apparent metabolizable energy and net energy values of dephenolized cottonseed proteins for laying hens显示文摘Optimizing the energy utilization of nutrients and ensuring maximum benefits are continuous goals for livestock producers.The net energy(NE)value of feed reflects its nutritional value in the precision feeding system.An experiment was conducted to determine the apparent metabolizable energy(AME)and NE values of 3 types of dephenolized cottonseed protein(DCP)for Hy Line Brown hens aged 42 to 45 weeks using the reference diet substitution method.A reference diet based on corn soybean meal was used to meet the nutritional needs of Hy Line Brown laying hens.To render the crude protein and energy values of the 3 test diets similar,10.5%,12%,and 16%of the gross energy yielding ingredients from the reference diet were replaced with DCP 1,DCP 2,and DCP 3,respectively.The birds were fed 4 diets during a 7-d adaptation period.After the dietary adaptation period,2 birds per replicate from each treatment group were placed in an individual open circuit respiratory calorimetry chamber for a 3-d experimental period.Daily O_(2)consumption and CO_(2)production were recorded,and excreta samples were collected.The AME values of DCP 1,DCP 2,and DCP 3 were 3,049.05,2,820.13,and 2,982.31 kcal/kg of dry matter(DM),respectively.The NE values of DCP 1,DCP 2,DCP 3 were 1,475.77,1,910.31,and 1,905.37 kcal/kg of DM,respectively,and the NE:AME ratios were 48.40%,67.74%,and 63.89%,respectively.Our data show that the AME value of DCP does not reflect the nutritional value of the feed.The NE value of DCP with a high ME value was not necessarily high. | Yongfa Liu Yi Wei Qiuyu Jiang Peng Li Zhibin Ban Zengpeng Lv Yuming Guo | 2023 | Animal Nutrition2023,,1: | 2 |
