1Changes in visibility with PM_(2.5) composition and relative humidity at a background site in the Pearl River Delta region显示文摘In fall–winter, 2007–2013, visibility and light scattering coefficients(b sp) were measured along with PM_(2.5)mass concentrations and chemical compositions at a background site in the Pearl River Delta(PRD) region. The daily average visibility increased significantly(p < 0.01) at a rate of 1.1 km/year, yet its median stabilized at ~13 km. No haze days occurred when the 24-hr mean PM_(2.5)mass concentration was below 75 μg/m^3. By multiple linear regression on the chemical budget of particle scattering coefficient(b sp), we obtained site-specific mass scattering efficiency(MSE) values of 6.5 ± 0.2, 2.6 ± 0.3, 2.4 ± 0.7 and 7.3 ± 1.2 m2/g,respectively, for organic matter(OM), ammonium sulfate(AS), ammonium nitrate(AN) and sea salt(SS). The reconstructed light extinction coefficient(b ext) based on the Interagency Monitoring of Protected Visual Environments(IMPROVE) algorithm with our site-specific MSE revealed that OM, AS, AN, SS and light-absorbing carbon(LAC) on average contributed 45.9% ± 1.6%,25.6% ± 1.2%, 12.0% ± 0.7%, 11.2% ± 0.9% and 5.4% ± 0.3% to light extinction, respectively.Averaged b ext displayed a significant reduction rate of 14.1/Mm·year(p < 0.05); this rate would be 82% higher if it were not counteracted by increasing relative humidity(RH) and hygroscopic growth factor(f(RH)) at rates of 2.5% and 0.16/year-1(p < 0.01), respectively, during the fall–winter, 2007–2013. 2Role of ammonia in forming secondary aerosols from gasoline vehicle exhaust显示文摘Ammonia(NH3) plays vital roles in new particle formation and atmospheric chemistry. Although previous studies have revealed that it also influences the formation of secondary organic aerosols(SOA) from ozonolysis of biogenic and anthropogenic volatile organic compounds(VOCs), the influence of NH3 on particle formation from complex mixtures such as vehicle exhausts is still poorly understood. Here we directly introduced gasoline vehicles exhausts(GVE) into a smog chamber with NH3 absorbed by denuders to examine the role of NH3 in particle formation from GVE. We found that removing NH3 from GVE would greatly suppress the formation and growth of particles. Adding NH3 into the reactor after 3 h photo-oxidation of GVE, the particle number concentration and mass concentrations jumped explosively to much higher levels, indicating that the numbers and mass of particles might be enhanced when aged vehicle exhausts are transported to rural areas and mixed with NH3-rich plumes. We also found that the presence of NH3 had no significant influence on SOA formation from GVE. 3Compositions and sources of organic acids in fine particles(PM_(2.5)) over the Pearl River Delta region, south China显示文摘Organic acids as important constituents of organic aerosols not only influence the aerosols' hygroscopic property, but also enhance the formation of new particles and secondary organic aerosols. This study reported organic acids including C14–C32fatty acids, C4–C9dicarboxylic acids and aromatic acids in PM2.5collected during winter 2009 at six typical urban, suburban and rural sites in the Pearl River Delta region. Averaged concentrations of C14–C32fatty acids, aromatic acids and C4– C9 dicarboxylic acids were 157, 72.5 and 50.7 ng/m3, respectively. They totally accounted for 1.7% of measured organic carbon. C20–C32fatty acids mainly deriving from higher plant wax showed the highest concentration at the upwind rural site with more vegetation around, while C14–C18fatty acids were more abundant at urban and suburban sites, and dicarboxylic acids and aromatic acids except 1,4-phthalic acid peaked at the downwind rural site. Succinic and azelaic acid were the most abundant among C4–C9dicarboxylic acids, and 1,2-phthalic and 1,4-phthalic acid were dominant aromatic acids. Dicarboxylic acids and aromatic acids exhibited significant mutual correlations except for 1,4-phthalic acid, which was probably primarily emitted from combustion of solid wastes containing polyethylene terephthalate plastics. Spatial patterns and correlations with typical source tracers suggested that C14–C32fatty acids were mainly primary while dicarboxylic and aromatic acids were largely secondary. Principal component analysis resolved six sources including biomass burning, natural higher plant wax, two mixed anthropogenic and two secondary sources; further multiple linear regression revealed their contributions to individual organic acids. 4Effects of acupuncture on the relationship between cerebral hemodynamics and arterial blood pressure in patients with hypertension显示文摘The present study aimed to investigate the effect of an auricular acupuncture intervention on the relationship between changes in oxyhemoglobin concentration(Δ[O2Hb])and arterial blood pressure(ABP).The cerebral oxygenation signals in the bilateral prefrontal cortex(PFC),sensorimotor cortex(SMC),and temporal lobe cortex(TLC)of 15 patients with hypertension were measured by a 24-channel functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS)device before(State_R)and after(State_AT)the auricular acupuncture intervention.Coupling strength was used to quantitatively evaluate the strength of the couplings between ABP andΔ[O2Hb]in low-frequency oscillations(LF,0.07–0.2 Hz)and very-low-frequency oscillations(VLF,0.02–0.07 Hz).Results showed that the changes in wavelet amplitudes in the LF and VLF intervals did not exhibit significant differences after auricular acupuncture.The coupling strength from ABP toΔ[O2Hb]was significantly lower in the LF range after auricular acupuncture in the bilateral PFC,SMC,and TLC(p<0.0083).Additionally,the coupling strength from ABP toΔ[O2Hb]in the VLF range was significantly lower in the bilateral PFC in State_AT than in State_R(p<0.0083).These results indicated that fNIRS together with ABP can effectively evaluate cerebral hemodynamic responses to interventions and is therefore capable of guiding more individualized acupuncture strategies.The auricular acupuncture intervention improved hemodynamic responses in patients suffering from hypertension.Wenhao Li Hongmei Liu Congcong Huo Gongcheng Xu Tengyu Zhang Zengyong Li 2021Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2021,,4:4
5Secondary aerosol formation and oxidation capacity in photooxidation in the presence of Al_2O_3 seed particles and SO_2显示文摘To investigate the sensitivity of secondary aerosol formation and oxidation capacity to NOx in homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions, a series of irradiated toluene/NOx/air and ?-pinene/NOx/air experiments were conducted in smog chambers in the absence or presence of Al2O3 seed particles. Various concentrations of NOx and volatile organic compounds(VOCs) were designed to simulate secondary aerosol formation under different scenarios for NOx. Under 'VOC-limited' conditions, the increasing NOx concentration suppressed secondary aerosol formation, while the increasing toluene concentration not only contributed to the increase in secondary aerosol formation, but also led to the elevated oxidation degree for the organic aerosol. Sulfate formation was suppressed with the increasing NOx due to a decreased oxidation capacity of the photooxidation system. Secondary organic aerosol(SOA) formation also decreased with the presence of high concentration of NOx, because organo-peroxy radicals(RO2) react with NOx instead of with peroxy radicals(RO2 or HO2), resulting in the formation of volatile organic products. The increasing concentration of NOx enhanced the formation of sulfate, nitrate and SOA under 'NOx-limited' conditions, in which the heterogeneous reactions played an important role. In the presence of Al2O3 seed particles, a synergetic promoting effect of mineral dust and NOx on secondary aerosol formation in heterogeneous reactions was observed in the photooxidation. This synergetic effect strengthened the positive relationship between NOx and secondary aerosol formation under 'NOx-limited' conditions but weakened or even overturned the negative relationship between NOx and secondary aerosol formation under 'VOC-limited' conditions. Sensitivity of secondary aerosol formation to NOx seemed different in homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions, and should be both taken into account in the sensitivity study. The sensitivity of secondary aerosol formation to NOx was further investigated under 'winter-like' and NH3-rich conditions. 8Assessment of dairy cow feed intake based on BP neural network with polynomial decay learning rate显示文摘To overcome the shortcomings of traditional dairy cow feed intake assessment model andBP neural network, this paper proposes a method of optimizing BP neural network usingpolynomial decay learning rate, taking the cow’s body weight, lying duration, lying times,walking steps, foraging duration and concentrate-roughage ratio as input variables andtaking the actual feed intake is the output variable to establish a dairy cow feed intakeassessment model, and the model is trained and verified by experimental data collectedon site. For the sake of comparative study, feed intake is simultaneously assessed by SVRmodel, KNN logistic regression model, traditional BP neural network model, and multilayerBP neural network model. The results show that the established BP model using the polynomial decay learning rate has the highest assessment accuracy, the MSPE, RMSE, MAE,MAPE and R2 are 0.043 kg2/d and 0.208 kg/d, 0.173 kg/d, 1.37% and 0.94 respectively. Compared with SVR model and KNN mode, the RMSE value reduced by 43.9% and 26.5%, it isalso found that the model designed in this paper has many advantages in comparison withthe BP model and multilayer BP model in terms of precision and generalization. 11Effects of acetylene at low concentrations on nitrification, mineralization and microbial biomass nitrogen concentrations in forest soils显示文摘Temperate forest surface soils at the varying distances from main trunks (e.g., Pinus koraiensis and Quercus mongolica) were used to study the effects of acetylene (C2H2) at low concentrations on nitrification, mineralization and microbial biomass N concentrations of the soils, and to assess the contribution of heterotrophic nitrification to nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from soils. The use of acetylene at partial pressures within a range from 10 to 100 Pa C2H2 in headspace gas gave a significant decrease in N2O emission at soil moisture of c. 45% water-filled porosity space, and the decrease was almost the same in each soil after exposure of C2H2 at low concentrations. Heterotrophic nitrification could account for 21%―48% of total N2O emission from each soil; the contribution would increase with increasing distances from the Pinus koraiensis trunks rather than from the Quercus mongolica trunks. Under the experimental conditions, the use of C2H2 at low concentrations showed no significant influ- ence on soil microbial biomass N, net N mineralization and microbial respiration. However, 100 Pa C2H2 in headspace gas could reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from soils. According to the rapid consumption of 10 Pa C2H2 by forest soils and convenience for laboratory incubations, 50 Pa C2H2 in headspace gas can be used to study the origin of N2O emissions from forest soils under aerobic con- ditions and the key associated driving mechanisms. The N2O and CO2 emissions from the soils at the same distances from the Quercus mongolica trunks were larger than those from the Pinus koraiensis trunks, and both emissions decreased as the distances from trunks increased. The stepwise regression analysis showed that 95% of the variability in soil CO2 emissions could be accounted for by the concentrations of soil total C and water soluble organic C and soil pH, and that 72% of the variability in soil N2O emissions could be accounted for by the concentrations of soil total N, exchangeable NH+4-N and microbial biomass N and 25% of the variability in heterotrophic nitrification by the soil microbial biomass N concentration. 18Insect-specific RNA virus affects the stylet penetration activity of brown citrus aphid(Aphis citricidus)to facilitate its transmission显示文摘Sap-sucking insects often transmit plant viruses but also carry insect viruses,which infect insects but not plants.The impact of such insect viruses on insect host biology and ecology is largely unknown.Here,we identified a novel insect-specific virus carried by brown citrus aphid(Aphis citricidus),which we tentatively named Aphis citricidus picornavirus(AcPV).Phylogenetic analysis discovered a monophyletic cluster with AcPV and other unassigned viruses,suggesting that these viruses represent a new family in order Picornavirales.Systemic infection with AcPV triggered aphid antiviral immunity mediated by RNA interference,resulting in asymptomatic tolerance.Importantly,we found that AcPV was transmitted horizontally by secretion of the salivary gland into the feeding sites of plants.AcPV influenced aphid stylet behavior during feeding and increased the time required for intercellular penetration,thus promoting its transmission among aphids with plants as an intermediate site.The gene expression results suggested that this mechanism was linked with transcription of salivary protein genes and plant defense hormone signaling.Together,our results show that the horizontal transmission of AcPV in brown citrus aphids evolved in a manner similar to that of the circulative transmission of plant viruses by insect vectors,thus providing a new ecological perspective on the activity of insect-specific viruses found in aphids and improving the understanding of insect virus ecology.Xin An Qiaoying Gu Jing Wang Tengyu Chang Wei Zhang Jin-Jun Wang Jinzhi Niu 2024Insect Science2024,31,1:0
19Stent-assisted coiling of intracranial carotid ophthalmic segment aneurysm segment aneurysms:Long-term follow-up from a single center显示文摘Background:To evaluate the efficacy of stent-assisted coiling(SAC)for the treatment of carotid ophthalmic segment aneurysm segment aneurysms(OSAs)of the internal carotid artery(ICA)through detailed long-term follow-up of a large patient cohort.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 88 consecutive patients with OSAs between January 2009 and January 2020 at our center.Angiographic results were evaluated using the modified Raymond grading system and clinical outcomes were evaluated using the mRS scale.The primary endpoints were major aneurysm recurrence and poor clinical outcomes for at least 18 months of follow-up.The patients were asked to attend clinical follow-up assessments and possibly undergo DSA or MR via telephone.Results:We enrolled 88 patients with 99 OSAs treated with coiling,of whom 76 were treated with SAC.The coiling procedures were successful in all 88 patients.Overall,complications occurred in 8 patients(9.1%).No procedure-related mortality was observed.67(76.1%)experienced immediate aneurysm occlusion at the end of the procedure.Long-term angiographic follow-up(18 months)was available in 45/88 aneurysms(51%)(average 18.7±5.2 months).Four patients continued their follow-up for 5 years after initial aneurysm treatment.After a clinical follow-up time of 28.7 months(range,12-51 months),85 patients(95.5%)achieved favorable clinical outcomes(mRS scores of 0-2).Conclusions:This study indicates that SAC treatment is a safe and effective therapeutic alternative for ruptured and unruptured OSAs.The procedural risks are low with relatively long-term effectiveness.Wenquan Gu Geng Zhou Aizada Aldiyarova Tengyue Liu Yi Zhang Weidong Liu Lingping Meng Binxian Gu MingHua Li Ming Su Chen Su Aihua Liu Wu Wang 2023Journal of Interventional Medicine2023,6,3:0
20Remote monitoring system for livestock environmental information based on LoRa wireless ad hoc network technology显示文摘The environmental quality of livestock houses is key to livestock breeding and directly affects the growth and health of animals.To target the characteristics of long application cycles and large coverage areas for environmental monitoring in large-scale livestock breeding,the current study designed a remote monitoring system to provide livestock environmental information based on LoRa wireless ad hoc network technology.The system consisted of collection terminals,control terminals,LoRa gateways,and Alibaba Elastic Compute Service.It realized real-time collection,wireless transmission,storage of multi-sensor node data,and remote control.The system was not limited by the selected time or region,because data interaction was achieved by accessing cloud servers using GPRS technology.Users could browse and obtain data from computers and a WeChat mini program from any location with network coverage.Additionally,the system used the improved receiver-based auto rate(RBAR)rate-adaptive algorithm in the LoRa wireless communication component.After application on a dairy farm,the results showed that the whole system collected 6140 sets of environmental data from four dairy houses.The packet loss rate was less than 1%within a communication distance of 604 m,and the communication success rate was greater than 99%.The control instructions were real-time and accurate,and the response time was less than 10 s,which met the remote control needs of large farms.The system provided powerful data and technical support for precision animal production.Xiao Fu Weizheng Shen Yanling Yin Yu Zhang Shichao Yan Shengli Kou Tengyu Qu Musabimana Jacqueline 2022International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2022,15,4:0
