| 1 | Comparing the Diagnostic Criteria for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus of World Health Organization 2013 with 1999 in Chinese Population显示文摘INTRODUCTION Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) was earlier defined as 'hyperglycemia first recognized during pregnancy' and has more recently been described by American Diabetes Association (ADA) (2012) as diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy that is not clearly overt diabetes.[1] The hyperglycemia and adverse pregnancy outcomes study (HAPO) demonstrated that the risk of adverse maternal,fetal,and neonatal outcomes continuously increase as a function of maternal glycemia at 24-28 weeks,even within ranges previously considered normal for pregnancy.[2] After reviewing the results of the HAPO study,many international diabetes study groups,including the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups and ADA have adopted the 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at 24-28 weeks as a screening and diagnostic test and defined new cut-off values for GDM diagnosis.The Ministry of Health of China published the criteria for GDM,that is the same as the ADA criteria on July 1,2011.World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended the 75 g OGTT with different cut-offvalues as a diagnostic test since 1999,changed its recommendation on 2013.In Hongkong and Yunnan province in China,most hospital adopted the WHO 1999 criteria,nevertheless,there is no evidence of multicenter and large sample to show that the GDM population within the same ethnic group diagnosed by the new WHO criteria matches those diagnosed by the old one and consistency between the two criteria has not been reported.Thus,we conducted this study to analyze the two criteria in Chinese pregnant women. | Weiwei Zhu Huixia Yang Yumei Wei Zilian Wang Xuelan Li Hairong Wu Nan Li Meihua Zhang Xinghui Liu Hua Zhang Yunhui Wang Jianmin Niu Yujie Gan Liruo Zhong Yunfeng Wang Anil Kapur | 2015 | Chinese Medical Journal2015,,1: | 42 |
| 2 | Acupuncture at Baihui and Dazhui reduces brain cell apoptosis in heroin readdicts显示文摘Acupuncture at Baihui(GV20) and Dazhui(GV14) reduces neuronal loss and attenuates ultrastructural damage in cerebral ischemic rats. However, whether acupuncture can treat addiction and prevent readdiction through changes to brain cell ultrastructure remains unknown. In this study, cell apoptosis was observed in the hippocampus and frontal lobe of heroin readdicted rats by electron microscopy. Immunohistochemical staining displayed a reduction in Bcl-2 expression and an increase in Bax expression in the hippocampus and frontal lobe. After rats were given acupuncture at Baihui and Dazhui, the pathological damage in the hippocampus and frontal lobe was significantly reduced, Bcl-2 expression was upregulated and Bax expression was downregulated. Acupuncture exerted a similar effect with methadone, a commonly used drug for clinical treatment of drug addiction. | 3 | Exogenous abscisic acid significantly affects proteome in teaplant (Camellia sinensis) exposed to drought stress显示文摘Tea[Camellia sinensis(L.)O.Kuntze]is an important economic crop,and drought is the most important abiotic stress affecting yield and quality.Abscisic acid(ABA)is an important phytohormone responsible for activating drought resistance.Increased understanding of ABA effects on tea plant under drought stress is essential to develop drought-tolerant tea genotypes,along with crop management practices that can mitigate drought stress.The objective of the present investigation is evaluation of effects of exogenous ABA on the leaf proteome in tea plant exposed to drought stress.Leaf protein patterns of tea plants under simulated drought stress[(polyethylene glycol(PEG)-treated]and exogenous ABA treatment were analyzed in a time-course experiment using two-dimensional electrophoresis(2-DE),followed by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight(MALDI-TOF)mass spectrometry(MS).Among the 72 protein spots identified by MALDI-TOF MS,16 proteins were downregulated and two were upregulated by exogenous ABA.The upregulated proteins have roles in glycolysis and photosystem II stabilization.Twenty-one protein spots were responsive to drought stress and most participate in carbohydrate and nitrogen metabolism,control of reactive oxygen species(ROS),defense,signaling or nucleic acid metabolism.The combined treatments of exogenous ABA and drought showed upregulation of 10 protein spots at 12 h and upregulation of 11 proteins at 72 h after initiation of drought stress.The results support the importance of the role that ABA plays in the tea plant during drought stress,by improving protein transport,carbon metabolism and expression of resistance proteins. | Lin Zhou Hui Xu Sue Mischke Lyndel W Meinhardt Dapeng Zhang Xujun Zhu Xinghui Li Wanping Fang | 2014 | Horticulture Research2014,1,1: | 12 |
| 4 | Spatial and vertical variations of perfluoroalkyl substances in sediments of the Haihe River,China显示文摘The levels of six perfluoroalkyl substances(PFASs) in surface sediment and their vertical variations in dated sediment cores from the Haihe River were investigated; studied substances included perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA),perfluorononanoic acid(PFNA),perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS),perfluorodecanoic acid(PFDA),perfluoroundecanoic acid(PFUnA),and perfluorododecanoic acid(PFDoA). Results showed that the total PFAS concentration in surface sediment ranged between 0.52 and 16.33 ng/g dry weight(dw) with an average of3.47 ng/g dw,with PFOS and PFOA as the dominant PFASs. In general,the PFAS concentrations in the mainstream increased from the upper to the lower reaches,except that a drop occurred downstream of the Erdao dam. Although the PFASs in the sediment cores did not show a clear decreasing or increasing trend with depth,the three cores had a similar vertical variation.The PFAS levels were relatively low in the surface sediment,and reached the first high point at8–20 cm as a result of the wide use of PFASs from 1990 to 2000. After that the PFAS levels decreased,and then increased to a second high point at about 40–48 cm,which might be caused by the leaching of PFASs in sediment. Because PFASs have hydrophilic groups and relatively high solubility,the PFASs will transfer from the upper to lower layers of sediment when water infiltration occurs,leading to the fluctuation of PFAS levels in sediment cores. | 6 | Normalization of ventral tegmental area structure following acupuncture in a rat model of heroin relapse显示文摘Drugs can cause obvious damage to the brain. To verify the relationship between acupuncture, neurotrophic factor expression and brain cell structural changes, this study established a rat model of heroin relapse using intramuscular injection of increasing amounts of heroin. During the detoxification period, rat models received acupuncture at Baihui(DU20) and Dazhui(DU14). Electron microscopy demonstrated that the structure of the ventral tegmental area in heroin relapse rats gradually became normalized after acupuncture treatment. Immunohistochemical staining exhibited that the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor increased in the ventral tegmental area following acupuncture. Moreover, the effects were similar to that of methadone, a type of medicine called an opioid. | 8 | Density functional theory study of the mechanism of the acid-catalyzed decarboxylation of pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid and mesitoic acid显示文摘The mechanisms of the acid-catalyzed decarboxylation of pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid and mesitoic acid have been investigated based on density functional theory calculations at the B3LYP/6-311G (d,p) level. A polarizable continuum model (PCM) has been established in order to evaluate the effects of solvents on these reactions. The results of the calculations indicate that the first step of the acid-catalyzed decarboxylation of the pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid has two possible pathways,that is,the proton of H3O+ attacks either the-carbon atom or the carboxyl oxygen atom. The subsequent process of forming a four-membered ring transition state is the rate-determining step. The activation energies of acid-catalyzed decarboxylation of pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid proceeding via attack at the-carbon atom and the carboxyl oxygen atom are determined to be 194.21 and 210.41 kJ/mol,respectively. The computational results show that both pathways are favored. However,for the reaction of mesitoic acid with H3O+,the reaction barrier for the former pathway is calculated to be 212.15 kJ/mol,whilst the latter pathway has a reaction barrier of 200.45 kJ/mol. | 14 | All-Solid-State Thin-Film Lithium-Sulfur Batteries显示文摘Lithium-sulfur(Li-S)system coupled with thin-film solid electrolyte as a novel high-energy micro-battery has enormous potential for complementing embedded energy harvesters to enable the autonomy of the Internet of Things microdevice.However,the volatility in high vacuum and intrinsic sluggish kinetics of S hinder researchers from empirically integrating it into allsolid-state thin-film batteries,leading to inexperience in fabricating all-solid-state thin-film Li-S batteries(TFLSBs).Herein,for the first time,TFLSBs have been successfully constructed by stacking vertical graphene nanosheets-Li2S(VGsLi2S)composite thin-film cathode,lithium-phosphorous-oxynitride(LiPON)thin-film solid electrolyte,and Li metal anode.Fundamentally eliminating Lipolysulfide shuttle effect and maintaining a stable VGs-Li2S/LiPON interface upon prolonged cycles have been well identified by employing the solid-state Li-S system with an“unlimited Li”reservoir,which exhibits excellent longterm cycling stability with a capacity retention of 81%for 3,000 cycles,and an exceptional high temperature tolerance up to 60℃.More impressively,VGs-Li2S-based TFLSBs with evaporated-Li thin-film anode also demonstrate outstanding cycling performance over 500 cycles with a high Coulombic efficiency of 99.71%.Collectively,this study presents a new development strategy for secure and high-performance rechargeable all-solid-state thin-film batteries. | Renming Deng Bingyuan Ke Yonghui Xie Shoulin Cheng Congcong Zhang Hong Zhang Bingan Lu Xinghui Wang | 2023 | Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,5: | 1 |
