Unravelling the complexity in achieving the 17 sustainable-development goals显示文摘It is now more than 3 years since the ratification of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development framework[1]but,according to the latest progress report, unless the rate of progress increases,it is challenging that all of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)will be achieved by 2030[2].With only 11 years remaining until the 2030 deadline,it has become imperative to develop a plan of action to enable the full agenda to be realized.Specifically, there is an urgent need for a holistic approach to clarify the interrelationships between the 17 SDGs,while also taking into account their complexity and their sometimes mutually reinforcing or conflicting nature.Trying to achieve these goals separately in succession is nonsensical, but pursuing them simultaneously is impractical[3]. | Bojie Fu Shuai Wang Junze Zhang Zengqian Hou Jinghai Li | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,3: | 32
Underplating in the middle-lower Yangtze Valley and model of geodynamic evolution:Constraints from geophysical data显示文摘The lower crust and Moho are the most active boundary layers in the process of continental evolution, in which marks left by tectonic and magmatic activities during the process are preserved. The evolutionary process of the continental lithosphere may be reconstructed by exploring the structures of the lower crust and Moho. According to a study of the deep seismic reflection data obtained from the middle-lower Yangtze Valley, the authors find bright layered reflections ubiquitous in the lower crust and think that the bright reflections are caused by un-derplating of basic or ultrabasic magmas, which might be related to delamination of the lithosphere. On the basis of an integrated analysis of the geophysical and geological data of the region, the authors propose a model for geodynamic evolution of the middle-lower Yangtze Valley. This model suggests that the middle-lower Yangtze Valley had undergone such geodynamic processes as collision-compression, delamination-extension and underplating-melting since the end of the Permian, finally forming the gigantic middle-lower Yangtze Valley metallogenic belt. | Lü Qingtian, HOU Zengqian, YANG Zhusen & SHI Danian Institute of Mineral Resources,Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences,Beijing 100037,China | 2005 | Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,7: | 24
Eruption of the Continental Flood Basalts at -259 Ma in the Emeishan Large Igneous Province, SW China: Evidence from Laser Microprobe ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar Dating显示文摘A suite of continental flood basalts sampled over a vast exposure and stratigraphic thickness in the Emeishan large igneous province (LIP), SW China was investigated for laser microprobe 40Ar/39Ar dating. There are two 40Ar/39Ar age groups for these basalts, corresponding to 259-246 Ma and 177-137 Ma, respectively. A well-defined isochron gives an eruption age of huge quantities of mafic magmas at 258.9±3.4 Ma, which is identical to previous dating and paleontological data. Much younger 40Ar/39Ar ages for some basalts with low-greenschist metamorphic facies probably recorded a late thermo-tectonic event caused by collision between the Yangtze and Qiangtang continental blocks during the Mesozoic, which resulted in the reset of argon isotope system. The 40Ar/39Ar age data, we present here, combined with previous dating and paleontological data, suggest relatively short duration (about 3 Ma) of mafic volcanism, which have important implication on mantle plume genesis of the Emeishan continental flood basalts in the LIP. | HOU Zengqian CHEN Wen LU Jiren | 2006 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2006,80,4: | 15
The Deep-Time Digital Earth program:data-driven discovery in geosciences显示文摘Current barriers hindering data-driven discoveries in deep-time Earth(DE)include:substantial volumes of DE data are not digitized;many DE databases do not adhere to FAIR(findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable)principles;we lack a systematic knowledge graph for DE;existing DE databases are geographically heterogeneous;a significant fraction of DE data is not in open-access formats;tailored tools are needed. These challenges motivate the Deep-Time Digital Earth(DDE)program initiated by the International Union of Geological Sciences and developed in cooperation with national geological surveys, professional associations, academic institutions and scientists around the world.DDE’s mission is to build on previous research to develop a systematic DE knowledge graph,a FAIR data infrastructure that links existing databases and makes dark data visible, and tailored tools for DE data, which are universally accessible.DDE aims to harmonize DE data, share global geoscience knowledge and facilitate data-driven discovery in the understanding of Earth’s evolution. | Chengshan Wang Robert MHazen Qiuming Cheng Michael HStephenson Chenghu Zhou Peter Fox Shu-zhong Shen Roland Oberhansli Zengqian Hou Xiaogang Ma Zhiqiang Feng Junxuan Fan Chao Ma Xiumian Hu Bin Luo Juanle Wang Craig M.Schiffries | 2021 | National Science Review2021,8,9: | 14
Metallogenesis within continental collision zones: Comparisons of modern collisional orogens显示文摘Modern collisional orogens represent the natural laboratory for the study of metallogeny in continental collision zones. The Pyrenees, Alps, Zagros and Himalaya are all associated with Neo-Tethyan subduction and represent the youngest collisional orogens on Earth. Here, we compare these four orogens in terms of their composition, architecture, tectonic evolution, and metallogenic systems. The four orogens can be divided into simple and composite types. Simple orogens are represented by the Pyrenees and the Alps, and are characterized by narrow linear shapes in plain view and symmetric structures in cross-section,are free of arc magmatism, and are associated with the Mississippi Valley Valley-type Pb-Zn and orogenic gold deposits. The mineral deposits that form in these simple collisional orogens are generally related to processes that occur in the middle and upper crust. In contrast, composite orogens, as exemplified by the Zagros-Iranian and Himalayan-Tibetan Plateaus, are associated with broad orogenic plateaus in plain view and asymmetrical structures in cross-section, record extensive arc magmatism in continental margins, and are associated with a variety of deposit types including carbonatite-related rare earth element(REE),porphyry Cu-Mo, orogenic Au, Mississippi Valley type Pb-Zn, and detachment-fault-related polymetallic deposits. Although the subduction of Neo-Tethys oceanic crust occurred before the creation of simple collisional orogens in the Pyrenees and the Alps, these areas do not show the record of continental arc magmatism. In contrast, the composite collisional orogens are associated with the development of huge continental margin arcs prior to continental subduction, and the subduction was followed by reactivation of the subduction-modified arc lithospheric material, generating the ore-forming systems in these regions. | Hongrui ZHANG Zengqian HOU | 2018 | Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,12: | 10
Separation and Precise Measurement of Lithium Isotopes in Three Reference Materials Using Multi Collector-Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry显示文摘Lithium separation technique for three reference materials has been established together with precise determination of lithium isotope using a Neptune multi collector-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS). The solutions of lithium element standard reference materials, potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium and iron single element, were used to evaluate analytical methods applied. Three separate stages of ion-exchange chromatography were carried out using organic cation-exchange resin (AG 50W-X8). Lithium was enriched for the three stages using different eluants, which are 2.8 M HCl, 0.15 M HCl and 0.5 M HCl in 30% ethanol, respectively. The columns for the first and second stages are made of polypropylene, and those for the third stage are made of quartz. Total reagent volume for the entire chemical process was 35 mL for three reference materials. The recovery yielded for the three stages is 98.9-101.2% with an average of 100.0%, 97.6- 101.9% with an average of 99.9%, and 99.8-103.3% with an average of 100.6%, respectively. The precision of this technique is conservatively estimated to be ±0.72-1.04‰ (2σ population), which is similar to the precision obtained by different authors in different laboratories with MC-ICP-MS. The δ 7 Li values ( 7 Li/ 6 Li relative to the IRMM-016 standard) determined for andesite (AGV-2) and basalt (BHVO-2) are 5.68‰ (n=18), 4.33‰ (n=18), respectively. The δ 7 Li value ( 7 Li/ 6 Li relative to the L-SVEC standard) determined for IRMM-016 is -0.01‰ (n=15). All these analytical results are in good agreement with those previously reported. In addition, the results for the same kinds of samples analyzed at the MLR Key Laboratory of Metallogeny and Mineral Assessment, Institute of Mineral Resources, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, are consistent with those obtained at the Plasma Laboratory, University of Maryland, within analytical uncertainty. According to these experiment results, it is concluded that this proposed procedure is a suitable method for determining the lithium isotopic composition of natural samples. | TIAN Shihong HOU Zengqian SU Aina HOU Kejun HU Wenjie LI Zhenzhen ZHAO Yue GAO Yanguang LI Yanhe YANG Dan YANG Zhusen | 2012 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2012,86,5: | 9
Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd Isochron Ages of the Dongmozhazhua and Mohailaheng Pb-Zn Ore Deposits in the Yushu area, southern Qinghai and Their Geological Implications显示文摘Located on the northeast margin of the Qiangtang terrane between the Jinshajiang suture zone and Bangonghu-Nujiang suture zone, the Dongmozhazhua and Mohailaheng Pb-Zn deposits in the Yushu area of Qinghai Province are representative Pb-Zn deposits of the Pb-Zn-Cu polymetallic mineralization belt in the northern part of the Nujiang-Lancangjiang-Jinshajiang area, which are in the front belt of the Yushu thrust nappe system. The formed environments of these two deposits are different from those of sediment-hosted base metal deposits elsewhere in the world. The authors hold that they were formed during the Indian-Asian continental collision and developed within the foldthrust belt combined with thrust and strike-slip-related Cenozoic basins in the interior of the collisional zone. Studying on the metallogenic epochs of these two deposits is helpful to the understanding of ore-forming regularity of the regional Pb-Zn-Cu mineralization belt and also to the search for new deposits in this region. The age of the Dongmozhazhua deposit has been determined by the Rb-Sr isochron method for sphalerite residues, whereas the age of the Mohailaheng deposit has been determined by the Rb-Sr isochron method for sphalerite residues and the Sm-Nd isochron method for fluorite. The age of the Dongmozhazhua deposit is 35.0±0.0 Ma((87Sr/86Sr)0=0.708807) for sphalerite residues. The age of the Mohailaheng deposit is 32.2±0.4 Ma((87Sr/86Sr)0=0.708514) for sphalerite residues and 31.8±0.3 Ma((143Nd/144Nd)0=0.512362) for fluorite with an average of 32.0 Ma. Together with the regional geological setting during mineralization, a possible tectonic model for metallogeny of the Dongmozhazhua and Mohailaheng Pb-Zn deposits has been established. These two ages are close to the ages of the Pb-Zn deposits in the Lanping and Tuotuohe basins, indicating that it is possible that the narrow 1000-kilometer-long belt controlled by a thrust nappe system on the eastern and northern margins of the Tibetan plateau could be a giant Pb-Zn mineralized belt. | TIAN Shihong GONG Yingli YANG Zhusen HOU Zengqian LIU Yingchao SONG Yucai XUE Wanwen LU Haifeng WANG Fuchun ZHANG Yubao ZHU Tian YU Changjie | 2014 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2014,88,2: | 8
Geological Fluid Mapping in the Tongling Area:Implications for the Paleozoic Submarine Hydrothermal System in the Middle-Lower Yangtze Metallogenic Belt,East China显示文摘The Tongling area is one of the 7 ore-cluster areas in the Middle-Lower Yangtze metallogenic belt,East China, and has tectonically undergone a long-term geologic history from the late Paleozoic continental rifting, through the Middle Triassic continent-continent collision to the Jurassic-Cretaceous intracontinental tectono-magmatic activation. The Carboniferous sedimentary-exhalative processes in the area produced widespread massive sulfides with ages of 303-321 Ma,which partly formed massive pyrite-Cu deposits, but mostly provided significant sulfur and metals to the skarn Cu mineralization associated with the Yanshanian felsic intrusions. To understand the Carboniferous submarine hydrothermal system,an area of about 1046 km^2 was chosen to carry out the geological fluid mapping.Associated with massive sulfide formation, footwall sequences 948 m to 1146m thick, composed of the Lower Silurian-Upper Devonian sandstone, siltstone and thin-layered shale, were widely altered. This hydrothermal alteration is interpreted to reflect large- scale hydrothermal fluid flow associated with the late Paleozoic crustal rifting and subsidence.Three hydrothermal alteration types,i.e.,deep-level semiconformable silicification(S_1),fracture-controlled quartz-sericite-pyrite alteration(S_(2-3)),and upper-level sub-discordant quartz-sericite-chlorite alteration(D_3),were developed to form distinct zones in the mapped area.About 50-m thick semiconformable silicification zones are located at~1-km depth below massive sulfides and developed between an impermeable shale caprock(S_1)and the underlying Ordovician unaltered limestone. Comparisons with modern geothermal systems suggest that the alteration zones record a sub-seafloor aquifer with the most productive hydrothermal fluid flow.Fracture-controlled quartz-sericite-pyrite alteration formed transgressive zones, which downward crosscut the semiconformable alteration zones, and upwards grade into sub-discordant alteration zones that enveloped no economic stringer- stockwork zones beneath massive sulfides. This transgressive zone likely marks an upflow path of high- flux fluids from the hydrothermal aquifer.Lateral zonation of the sub-discordant alteration zones and their relationship to overlying massive sulfide lenses suggest lateral flows and diffusive discharging of the hydrothermal fluids in a permeable sandstone sequence.Three large-sized,14 middle-small massive sulfide deposits, and 40 massive sulfide sites have been mapped in detail. They show regional strata- bound characters and two major styles,i.e.,the layered sheet plus strata-bound stringer-style and the mound-style.Associated exhalite and chemical sedimentary rock suites include(1)anhydrite-barite,(2) jasper-chert,(3)Mg-rich mudstone-pyrite shale,(4)barite lens,(5)siderite-Fe-bearing dolomite, and (6)Mn-rich shale-mudstone,which usually comprise three sulfide-exhalite cyclic units in the area. The spatial distribution of these alteration zones(minerals)and associated massive sulfides and exhalites, and regional variation inδ^(34)S of hydrothermal pyrite and inδ^(18)O-δ^(34)C of hanging wall carbonates, suggest three WNW-extending domains of fluid flow, controlled by the basement faults and syn-depositional faults. Each fluid domain appears to have at least two upflow zones, with estimated even spacing of about 5-8 km in the mapped area. The repeated appearance of sulfide-sulfate or sulfide-carbonate rhythmic units in the area suggests episodically venting of fluids through the upflow conduits by breaking the overlying seals of the hydrothermal aquifer. | HOU Zengqian YANG Zhusen MENG Yifeng ZENG Pusheng LI Hongyang XU Wenyi | 2007 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2007,81,5: | 8
Jurassic Hornblende Gabbros in Dongga,Eastern Gangdese,Tibet:Partial Melting of Mantle Wedge and Implications for Crustal Growth显示文摘The Gangdese batholith, more than 2500 km in length, is composed mainly of JurassicMiocene igneous rocks. This batholith is one of the most important constituents of the Tibetan orogenesis and provides an ideal place for study of Neo-Tethyan ocean geodynamic evolution and plateau uplift. Recent studies on the Gangdese Jurassic felsic magmatism highlight its juvenile source. However, important aspects concerning the genesis of the juvenile magmatism and related deep geodynamic evolution are still unclear. Here, we report detailed petrological, geochronological, geochemical, whole-rock Sr-Nd isotopic, and in situ Sr-Hf isotopic data for a recently identified hornblende gabbro in the Dongga area, southern Lhasa sub-block. This hornblende gabbro is dominated by hornblende and plagioclase, dated at Early Jurassic(ca. 180–190 Ma), and characterized by a narrow compositional range in SiO_2(49.38wt%–52.27wt%), MgO(4.08wt%–7.00wt%), FeO(10.43wt%–11.77wt%), Na_2O(2.58wt%–3.51wt%), and K_2O(0.48wt%–1.53wt%). It has depleted isotopic signatures, with whole-rock(^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr)i ratios of 0.7033–0.7043, ε_(Nd)(t) values of +4.90 to +6.99, in situ plagioclase(^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr)i ratios of 0.7034–0.7042, and zircon ε_(Hf)(t) of +12.2 to +16.8. Our results integrated with published data suggest a model of Gangdese juvenile crustal growth by a subduction-related water-enriched mantle wedge. The hydrous partial melting of the lithosphere mantle was triggered by the dehydration of a Neo-Tethyan oceanic slab. This mafic magmatism emplaced in the middle-lower crust of intraoceanic arcs or active continental margins, leading to Jurassic juvenile crustal growth in southern Tibet. | XU Bo HOU Zengqian ZHENG Yuanchuan ZHOU Ye ZHOU Limin YANG Yu HAN Yanwei ZHEN Guo WU Changda | 2017 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2017,91,2: | 7
Porphyry mineralization in the Tethyan orogen显示文摘The Tethyan metallogenic domain(TMD),as one of the three major domains in the world, extends over 10000 km from east to west, and has developed several world-class metallogenic belts, such as the Gangdese porphyry Cu belt, the Sanjiang metallogenic belt, the Iran porphyry Cu belt, the Pakistan porphyry Cu belt, the southeastern European epithermal gold deposit belt, and the Southeast Asian Sn belt. The formation and evolution of the TMD is mainly controlled by the multi-stage subduction of Tethys oceanic slabs, the opening and closing of several small ocean basins, and continent-continent collision. The Tethys oceans include the Proto-Tethys(Cambrian-Silurian),Paleo-Tethys(Carbonaceous-Triassic)and Neo-Tethys(Jurassic to Cretaceous),which in turn are formed by rifting from the Gondwana land at different times in different micro-continents.With a series of geological processes such as oceanic opening and closing, continental collision and post-collisional reworking with intraplate deformation, various types of ore deposits are developed in the TMD,including porphyry deposits, epithermal deposits,VMS deposits, chromite deposits,Sn deposits and orogenic gold deposits. The metallogenic processes of the TMD can be categorized into three stages.(1)Oceanic subduction:With the subduction of the oceanic slab and dehydration of basalt and sediments, the asthenospheric mantle was metasomatized with preliminary enrichment in metals under oxidized condition.(2)Continental subduction:Continental collision induced partial melting of the mantle wedge enriched the metals and water in mafic melts, which ascended from subarc depths to the lower crust, locally to the shallow crust for hydrothermal mineralization.(3)Post-collisional reworking:Partial melting of the mafic intrusives in the lower crust produced felsic melts under oxidized and water-rich conditions, which underwent crystal fractionation and transferred water and metals into hydrothermal fluids for mineralization. The large-scale porphyry mineralization in the TMD mainly occurs in the Miocene, which is an important scientific issue worthy of further study in the future. How is the metal enriched in the processes of gradual maturity of the crust, and how does large-scale mineralization occur in a collisional orogen where there is no subduction and dehydration of oceanic slabs anymore to supply S and Cl?These are still important questions in the study of porphyry mineralization in the Tethyan orogen. The application of hyperspectral and mineralogical studies of alteration assemblages is beneficial for prospecting and exploration in the TMD. | Rui Wang Dicheng Zhu Qing Wang Zengqian Hou Zhiming Yang Zhidan Zhao Xuanxue Mo | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,12: | 5
The oxygen cycle and a habitable Earth显示文摘As an important contributor to the habitability of our planet, the oxygen cycle is interconnected with the emergence and evolution of complex life and is also the basis to establish Earth system science. Investigating the global oxygen cycle provides valuable information on the evolution of the Earth system, the habitability of our planet in the geologic past, and the future of human life. Numerous investigations have expanded our knowledge of the oxygen cycle in the fields of geology, geochemistry, geobiology, and atmospheric science. However, these studies were conducted separately, which has led to onesided understandings of this critical scientific issue and an incomplete synthesis of the interactions between the different spheres of the Earth system. This review presents a five-sphere coupled model of the Earth system and clarifies the core position of the oxygen cycle in Earth system science. Based on previous research, this review comprehensively summarizes the evolution of the oxygen cycle in geological time, with a special focus on the Great Oxidation Event(GOE) and the mass extinctions, as well as the possible connections between the oxygen content and biological evolution. The possible links between the oxygen cycle and biodiversity in geologic history have profound implications for exploring the habitability of Earth in history and guiding the future of humanity. Since the Anthropocene, anthropogenic activities have gradually steered the Earth system away from its established trajectory and had a powerful impact on the oxygen cycle. The human-induced disturbance of the global oxygen cycle, if not controlled, could greatly reduce the habitability of our planet. | Jianping HUANG Xiaoyue LIU Yongsheng HE Shuzhong SHEN Zengqian HOU Shuguang LI Changyu LI Lijie YAO Jiping HUANG | 2021 | Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,4: | 5
The Zhaxikang Vein-type Pb-Zn-Ag-Sb Deposit in Himalayan Orogen, Tibet: Product by Overprinting and Remobilization Processes during Post-collisional Period显示文摘The Zhaxikang Pb-Zn-Ag-Sb deposit, the largest polymetallic deposit known in the Himalayan Orogen of southern Tibet, is characterized by vein-type mineralization that hosts multiple mineral assemblages and complicated metal associations. The deposit consists of at least six steeply dipping veintype orebodies that are hosted by Early Jurassic black carbonaceous slates and are controlled by a Cenozoic N–S-striking normal fault system. This deposit records multiple stages of mineralization that include an early period(A) of massive coarse-grained galena–sphalerite deposition and a later period(B) of Sb-bearing vein-type mineralization. Period A is only associated with galena–sphalerite mineralization, whereas period B can be subdivided into ferrous rhodochrosite–sphalerite–pyrite, quartz–sulfosalt–sphalerite, calcite–pyrite, quartz–stibnite, and quartz-only stages of mineralization. The formation of brecciated galena and sphalerite ores during period A implies reworking of pre-existing Pb–Zn sulfides by Cenozoic tectonic deformation, whereas period B mineralization records extensive openspace filling during ore formation. Fluid inclusion microthermometric data indicate that both periods A and B were associated with low–medium temperature(187–267°C) and low salinity(4.00–10.18% wt. Na Cl equivalent) ore-forming fluids, although variations in the physical–chemical nature of the period B fluids suggest that this phase of mineralization was characterized by variable water/rock ratios. Microprobe analyses indicate that Fe concentrations in sphalerite decrease from period A to period B, and can be divided into three groups with Fe S concentrations of 8.999–9.577, 7.125–9.109, 5.438–1.460 mol.%. The concentrations of Zn, Sb, Pb, and Ag within orebodies in the study area are normally distributed in both lateral and vertical directions, and Pb, Sb, and/or Ag concentrations are positive correlation within the central part of these orebodies, but negatively correlate in the margins. Sulfide S isotope compositions are highly variable(4‰–13‰), varying from 4‰ to 11‰ in period A and 10‰ to 13‰ in period B. The Pb isotope within these samples is highly radiogenic and defines linear trends in 206 Pb/204 Pb vs. 207 Pb/204 Pb and 206 Pb/204 Pb vs. 208 Pb/204 Pb diagrams, respectively. The S and Pb isotopic characteristics indicate that the period B orebodies formed by mixing of Pb–Zn sulfides and regional Sbbearing fluids. These features are indicative of overprinting and remobilization of pre-existing Pb–Zn sulfides by Sb-bearing ore-forming fluids during a post-collisional period of the Himalayan Orogeny. The presence of similar ore types in the north Rhenish Massif that formed after the Variscan Orogeny suggests that Zhaxikang-style mineralization may be present in other orogenic belts, suggesting that this deposit may guide Pb–Zn exploration in these areas. | LIANG Wei HOU Zengqian ZHENG Yuanchuan YANG Zhusen LI Zhenqing | 2018 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2018,92,2: | 4
Genesis of the Gold Deposit in the Indus-Yarlung Tsangpo Suture Zone,Southern Tibet:Evidence from Geological and Geochemical Data显示文摘The Nianzha gold deposit, located in the central section of the Indus-Yarlung Tsangpo suture(IYS) zone in southern Tibet,is a large gold deposit(Au reserves of 25 tons with average grade of 3.08 g/t) controlled by a E-W striking fault that developed during the main stage of Indo-Asian collision(~65-41 Ma).The main orebody is 1760 m long and 5.15 m thick, and occurs in a fracture zone bordered by Cretaceous diorite in the hanging wall to the north and the Renbu tectonic melange in the footwall to the south.High-grade mineralization occurs in a fracture zone between diorite and ultramafic rock in the Renbu tectonic melange. The wall-rock alteration is characterized by silicification in the fracture zone, serpentinization and the formation of talc and magnesite in the ultramafic unit, and chloritization and the formation of epidote and calcite in diorite.Quartz veins associated with Au mineralization can be divided into three stages.Fluid inclusion data indicate that the deposit formed from H_2O-NaCl-organic gas fluids that homogenize at temperatures of 203℃-347℃ and have salinities of 0.35wt%-17.17wt%NaCl equivalent. The quartz veins yield δ^(18)O_(fluid) values of 0.15‰-10.45‰,low δD_(V-SMOW)values(-173‰ to-96‰),and the δ^(13)C values of-17.6‰ to-4.7‰,indicating the ore-forming fluids were a mix of metamorphic and sedimentary orogenic fluids with the addition of some meteoric and mantle-derived fluids. The pyrite within the diorite has δ^(34)S_(V-CDT) values of-2.9‰-1.9‰(average-1.1‰),^(206)Pb/^(204)Pb values of 18.47-18.64,^(207)Pb/^(204)Pb values of 15.64-15.74,and ^(208)Pb/^(204)Pb values of 38.71-39.27,all of which are indicative of the derivation of S and other ore-forming elements from deep in the mantle. The presence of the Nianzha,Bangbu, and Mayum gold deposits within the IYS zone indicates that this area is highly prospective for large orogenic gold deposits. We identified three types of mineralization within the IYS,namely Bangbu-type accretionary,Mayum-type microcontinent, and Nianzha-type ophiolite-associated orogenic Au deposits. The three types formed at different depths in an accretionary orogenic tectonic setting. The Bangbu type was formed at the deepest level and the Nianzha type at the shallowest. | ZHANG Xiong DENG Xueguo YANG Zhusen HOU Zengqian ZHENG Yuanchuan LIU Yingchao ZHAO Xiaoyan XU Bo PEI Yingru ZHOU Jinsheng ZHAO Miao YUAN Jianfei | 2017 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2017,91,3: | 4

Mineralogy and Chemistry of Sulfides from the Longqi and Duanqiao Hydrothermal Fields in the Southwest Indian Ridge显示文摘Recent investigations found that hydrothermal activity and sulfide mineralization occurs along the Southwest Indian Ridge(SWIR). The Longqi and Duanqiao hydrothermal fields between 49° E and 53° E of the SWIR are two prospective mineralization areas discovered by Chinese scientists. With the aim to determine the mineralogical and chemical characteristics of sulfide minerals, we have conducted detailed studies for samples from the two areas using an optical microscope, X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope, and electron microprobe. The mineralization processes in the Longqi area are divided into three main stages:(1) the low-medium-temperature stage: colloform pyrite(Py I) + marcasite → euhedral pyrite(Py II),(2) the high-temperature stage: isocubanite(±exsolved chalcopyrite) + pyrrhotite → coarse-grained chalcopyrite(Ccp I), and(3) the medium–low-temperature stage: sphalerite + fine-grained chalcopyrite inclusions(Ccp II) → aggregates of anhedral pyrite(Py III) ± marcasite → Fe-oxide(-hydroxide) + amorphous silica. The mineralization processes in the Duanqiao area are divided into two main stages:(1) the medium–high-temperature stage: subhedral and euhedral pyrite(Py I′) → coarse-grained chalcopyrite(Ccp I′) and(2) the medium–low-temperature stage: sphalerite → fine-grained chalcopyrite(Ccp II′) + chalcopyrite inclusions(Ccp II′) → silica-cemented pyrite(Py II′) + marcasite → Fe-oxide + amorphous silica. We suggest that the fine-grained chalcopyrite inclusions in sphalerite from Longqi and Duanqiao were formed by co-precipitation and replacement mechanisms, respectively. Primary sphalerites from both fields are enriched in Fe(avg. 5.84 wt% for the Longqi field vs. avg. 3.69 wt% for the Duanqiao field), Co(avg. 185.56 ppm for the Longqi field vs. 160.53 ppm for the Duanqiao field), and Cd(avg. 1950 ppm for the Longqi field vs. avg. 525.26 ppm for the Duanqiao field). Cu contents in pyrite from the Duanqiao field(Py I′: avg. 849.23 ppm and Py II′: avg. 1191.11 ppm) tend to be higher than those from the Longqi field(Py I: avg. 26.67 ppm, Py II: avg. 445 ppm, and Py III: avg. 179.29 ppm). Chalcopyrite from both fields is enriched in Zn(Ccp I: avg. 3226.67 ppm, Ccp II: avg. 9280 ppm, Ccp I′: avg. 848 ppm, Ccp II′(inclusions): avg. 1098 ppm, and Ccp II′(fine-grained): avg. 1795 ppm). The varying contents of Zn in the different pyrite and chalcopyrite generations may result from the zone refining process. An integrated study of the mineralogy and mineralogical chemistry suggests that the hydrothermal fluids of the Longqi area are likely conditioned with higher temperatures and relatively lower fO2 and fS2 than those of the Duanqiao area, but in contrast to the former, the latter is much affected by the compositions of the surrounding rocks. | ZHANG Baisong LI Zhenqing HOU Zengqian ZHANG Weiyan XU Bo | 2018 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2018,92,5: | 3
Lithosphere architecture characterized by crust±mantle decoupling controls the formation of orogenic gold deposits显示文摘This study, via combined analysis of geophysical and geochemical data, reveals a lithospheric architecture characterized by crust-mantle decoupling and vertical heat-flow conduits that control orogenic gold mineralization in the Ailaoshan gold belt on the southeastern margin of Tibet. The mantle seismic tomography indicates that the crust-mantle decoupled deformation, defined from previous seismic anisotropy analysis, was formed by upwelling and lateral flow of the asthenosphere, driven by deep sub duction of the Indian continent,Our magnetotelluric and seismic images show both a vertical conductor across the Moho and high Vp/Vs anomalies both in the uppermost mantle and lowest crust, suggesting that crust-mantle decoupling promotes ponding of mantle-derived basic melts at the base of the crust via a heat-flow conduit.Noble gas isotope and halogen ratios of gold-related ore minerals indicate a mantle source of ore fluid.A rapid decrease in Cl/F ratios of lamprophyres under conditions of 1.2 GPa and1050℃suggests that the ore fluid was derived from degassing of the basic melts.Similar lithospheric architecture is recognized in other orogenic gold provinces, implying analogous formational controls. | Zengqian Hou Qingfei Wang Haijiang Zhang Bo Xu Nian Yu Rui Wang David IGroves Yuanchuan Zheng Shoucheng Han Lei Gao Lin Yang | 2023 | National Science Review2023,10,3: | 2

Palynological constraints on the age of the Mississippi Valley-type Changdong Pb-Zn deposit,Sanjiang belt,West China显示文摘Mississippi Valley-type(MVT)Pb-Zn deposits serve as the world’s major supply of Pb-Zn resources. However, the age constraint of MVT Pb-Zn deposits has long been a big challenge, due to the lack of minerals that are unequivocally related to ore deposition and that can be used for radioisotopic dating. Here we show sporopollens can provide useful chronological information on the Changdong MVT Pb-Zn deposit in the Simao basin,Sanjiang belt,West China. The Pb-Zn ores in the Changdong deposit are hosted by internal sediments in paleo-karst caves of meteoric origin.Sphalerite and galena occur as replacements of carbonate minerals and void infillings in the internal sediments. The relations suggest that the Pb-Zn mineralization occurred after the deposition of the internal sediments.A palynological assemblage mainly composed of angiosperm pollen dominated by Castanea,Quercus, and Carya and fern spores dominated by Polypodiaceae,Pteris, and Athyriaceae was identified. These pollen and spores place the ore-hosting internal sediments and the Changdong paleo-karst at early to middle Oligocene.Consequently, the Changdong Pb-Zn deposit must have formed after the early Oligocene(~34 Ma).These age constraints, together with the geological characteristics, indicate that the Changdong Pb-Zn deposit is a paleo-karst-controlled MVT deposit related to fold-thrust systems in the Sanjiang belt. The Changdong deposit is similar to other MVT Pb-Zn deposits in the northern part of the Sanjiang belt, making it possible to extend this Pb-Zn belt 500 km further to the South. Results presented here highlights the potential of sporopollens in dating the age of MVT deposits related to paleo-karst formation in young orogenic belts. | Yingchao LIU Yucai SONG Zengqian HOU Dangpeng XI Suping LI Longlong YUE Wang MA Bolang TANG | 2022 | Science China Earth Sciences2022,65,1: | 2
