Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Lung Cancer Patients显示文摘The prevalence of malnutrition is high among oncology patients in China. Although the Patient- Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is widely recognized as an important nutritional assessment tool, it has not been validated for Chinese cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to conduct an analysis of nutrition screening and assessment data to validate the Chinese version of the PG-SGA in Chinese patients with lung cancer. This was an observational, cross-sectional study of 2,000 consecutive adult patients with lung cancer treated at several tertiary hospitals in China. Anthropometric and patient descriptive data were collected. The PG-SGA generated a score for the nutritional risk and a global rating for the nutritional status. The internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity were evaluated, and a known-groups comparison and principal component analyses were conducted to evaluate the reliability and validity of the PG-SGA. The known-groups comparison demonstrated the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate lung cancer patients of different nutritional and body mass index (BMI) groups. A confirmatory factor analysis supported the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. In terms of the internal and external consistency, the PG-SGA demonstrated intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) up to 0.987. Alternative form validity was also demonstrated between Box 4 of the PG-SGA and the Karnofsky Performance Status score, with excellent external consistency (r = 0.972, P < 0.001). The construct validity was supported, and selected questionnaire dimensions were evident in the principal component analysis. Significant Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were demonstrated. The Chinese version of the PG-SGA demonstrated significant reliability and sufficient exploratory properties to support its validity. It seems to be a valid tool that can be used to access the nutritional status of Chinese lung cancer patients. The validity of the PG-SGA in Chinese cancer patients warrants further investigation in other cancer types.Zhen Ming Fu Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Wei Li Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Chang Wang Han Ping Shi The Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers (INSCOC) Group 2016Journal of Nutritional Oncology2016,1,1:7

Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Gastric Cancer Patients显示文摘Purpose Malnutrition is severe among gastric cancer patients in China. While the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is a widely used nutritional assessment tool, the validation for Chinese patients with gastric cancer has not been performed yet. The aim of this research is to validate the Chinese version of the PGSGA in Chinese gastric cancer patients by conducting analyses of nutrition screening and assessment data. Methods Two thousand consecutive adult patients with gastric cancer were included in this observational, cross-sectional study in several tertiary hospitals in China. A survey was made among those patients, which included several questionnaires and some anthropometric parameters. We calculated the parameters to validate the use of PG-SGA categorizing the nutritional status of gastric cancer patients. Then we performed statistical analysis to evaluate the internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity. Results This study verified the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate gastric cancer patients into different nutritional groups. The confirmatory factor analysis verified the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. The internal and external consistency was measured by a concordance analysis which showed an intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) of 0.987. The correlations of the Box 4 score with the Karnofsky performance status score demonstrated alternative form validity with good external consistency (Pearson, r = 0.643, P < 0.001). All three anthropometric dimensions of the PG-SGA were supported by principal component analysis. Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were significant in the majority of tests. Conclusion The Chinese version of the PG-SGA is a valid tool to access the patients’ nutritional status for Chinese gastric patients.Zhen Ming Fu Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Wei Li Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Chang Wang Han Ping Shi The Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers (INSCOC) Group 2018Journal of Nutritional Oncology2018,3,4:5
Extension Protocol for the Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Patients with Common Cancers in China(INSCOC)Study:2021 update显示文摘Background Malnutrition is common in patients with cancer, and this adversely affects the survival and quality of life of patients.Chinese Society for Nutritional Oncology issued a multi-center,large-scale,long-term follow-up prospective study, the Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Patients with Common Cancers in China(INSCOC study)since 2013.This is an extension to the previous 2013-2020 study protocol. This study still sought to:①address the prognostic impact of nutritional factors and quality of life on cancer patient survival;②describe the overall and cancer-specific incidence and/or distribution of malnutrition and different measurements of patient quality of life. Methods and study design This is an observational,multi-centered,hospital-based prospective cohort study.Data collection will be performed at baseline(within 48 hours after patient admission),during the hospital stay and 30 days after hospital admission.Follow-up will be conducted for 1-20 years after enrollment. The primary outcome will be the all-cause mortality/overall survival, and secondary outcomes will be the length of hospital stay and costs of hospitalization.Study factors will include demographic characteristics, tumor characteristics, information about chronic diseases, hematological measurements(e.g.,red blood cell count, total lymphocyte counts,hemoglobin,albumin,prealbumin,creatinine,C-reactive protein,IL-6),anthropometric measurements(e.g.,height,weight,arm circumference, arm muscle circumference, triceps skinfold thickness, and waist circumference),body composition parameters,PG-SGA scores, quality of life(as indicated by the QLQ-C30 questionnaire),muscle mass(as indicated by the calf circumference),muscle strength(as indicated by the handgrip strength),muscle function(as indicated by the six-meter walking speed test)and physical status assessments(as indicated by the Karnofsky Performance Status scores). This clinical study protocol was approved by local Ethics Committees of all the participating hospitals.Written informed consent is required for each subject included.Discussion This multi-center,large-scale,long-term follow up prospective study will help improve the diagnosis of malnutrition in cancer patients and identify the risk factors associated with adverse clinical outcomes. The anticipated results of this study will highlight the need for a truly scientific appraisal of nutrition therapy in Chinese oncology populations, and finally help treat the potentially reversible elements of malnutrition in cancer patients to improve their clinical outcomes in the future.Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Liang Yu Yin Chang Wang Zhen Ming Fu Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Fu Xiang Zhou Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Zhi Kang Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Xiang Hua Wu Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Min Weng Qing Hua Yao Ya Yin Yu Quan Jun Lyu Hong Qiu Ming Liu Wei Li Han Ping Shi The Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers(INSCOC)Group 2022Journal of Nutritional Oncology2022,7,2:3
A Dose-response Meta-analysis of Egg Intake and Breast Cancer Risk显示文摘Aim Eggs are one of the most nutritious foods in nature, but there is no unified conclusion about the association between egg intake and breast cancer risk. Methods The PubMed and Web of Science databases for the literature on egg intake and breast cancer risk were searched for papers published during the last 10 years. These were then filtered according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Stata16.0 software was applied to perform a meta-analysis,the generalized least squares method and constrained cubic spline model were used to assess the dose-response trends between egg intake and breast cancer risk. Results A total of 9 articles were included:6 case control studies and 3 cohort studies. The Newcastle-Ottawa scale(NOS)values of the included articles were all≥6 points. The pooled relative risks(RR)of egg intake and breast cancer risk was 0.91(95%CI:0.69-1.19).The dose-response analysis showed a linear trend for egg intake and breast cancer risk(P=0.689).With every 10 g/day increase in egg intake, the incidence of breast cancer increased by 2%(RR=1.02,95%CI:0.99-1.05).However,these results were not statistically significant. Conclusion This meta-analysis found no significant association between egg intake and breast cancer.Peng Wei Ma Fei Fei Feng Zi Ang Shi Ke Di Xu Yuan Lin Zou Yan Li Wang Si Qi Ning Chun Hua Song 2021Journal of Nutritional Oncology2021,6,2:3
UBE3A alleviates isoproterenol-induced cardiac hypertrophy through the inhibition of the TLR4/MMP-9 signaling pathway显示文摘Cardiac hypertrophy is considered to be a leading factor in heart function-related deaths. In this study,we explored the potential mechanism underlying cardiac hypertrophy induced by isoproterenol. Our results showed that isoproterenol induced cardiac hypertrophy in AC16 cells,as reflected by the increased cell surface area and increased hypertrophic markers, which was accompanied by increased ubiquitin-protein ligase E3a(UBE3A)expression.Moreover,UBE3A knockdown by siRNAs accelerated cardiac hypertrophy, suggesting that increased UBE3A expres sion induced by isoproterenol might be a protective response and UBE3A might be a protective factor against cardiac hypertrophy. Our study also revealed that UBE3A knockdown increased the protein expression of the TLR4/MMP-9 pathway that has been shown to be associated with cardiac hypertrophy, which suggested that UBE3A-mediated protection is likely to be associated with the blockade of the TLR4/MMP-9 signaling pathway.UBE3A might be thus a potential target gene for the treatment of cardiac hypertrophy.Yanfei Li Linlin Ma Sijie Gu Jiewen Tian Yilin Cao Zi Jin Jingyi Chen Bingbing Gu Jiayin Tu Zhixiao Wang Xinming Li Zhongping Ning Yueling Jin 2020Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,1:1
A novel CHS/ALG bi-layer composite membrane with sustained antimicrobial efficacy used as wound dressing显示文摘A membrane composed of an alginate(ALG) layer and a chitosan(CHS) layer with sustained antimicrobial efficacy was prepared.Ciprofloxacin HC1(CIP) was incorporated into the ALG layer.Morphological feature of the composite membrane was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Water uptake capacity,in vitro drug release, and in vitro antimicrobial activity were evaluated. The composite membrane exhibited perfect binding characteristic between the two layers. The water uptake capacity of all the membranes was above 800%.The CIP could release from the composite membranes for 48 h.The membrane could control the bacterial growth persistently. The results suggested that this CHS/ALG composite membrane incorporated with CIP had the potential for wound dressing application.Yang Dong Hong Zhuo Liu Lu Xu Gang Li Zi Ning Ma Fei Han Hui Min Yao Yah Hui Sun San Ming Li 2010Chinese Chemical Letters2010,21,8:1
SEM imaging of insulating specimen through a transparent conducting veil of carbon nanotube显示文摘Observing the morphology of insulating specimen in scanning electron microscope(SEM)is of great significance for the nanoscale semiconductor devices and biological tissues. However, the charging effect will cause image distortion and abnormal contrast when observing insulating specimen in SEM.A typical solution to this problem is using metal coating or water-removable conductive coating.Unfortunately,in both cases the surface of the specimen is covered by a thin layer of conductive material which hides the real surface morphology and is very difficult to be completely removed after imaging. Here we show a convenient,residue-free,and versatile method to observe real surface morphology of insulating specimen without charging effect in SEM with the help of a nanometer-thick film of super-aligned carbon nanotube(SACNT).This thin layer of SACNT film, like metal, can conduct the surface charge on insulating specimen through the sample stage to the ground, thus eliminating the charging effect.SACNT film can also be used as the conductive tape to carry and immobilize insulating powder or particles during SEM imaging.Different from the metal coating,SACNT film is transparent,so that the real microstructure of the insulating specimen surface can be observed. In addition,SACNT film can be easily attached to and peeled off from the surface of specimen without any residue. This convenient,residue-free,and versatile method can open up new possibilities in nondestructive SEM imaging of a wide variety of insulating materials, semiconductor devices, and biological tissues.Xinyu Gao Guo Chen He Ma Yuchen Ju Ke Zhang Lin Cong Wen Ning Zi Yuan Zebin Liu Lina Zhang Peng Liu Shoushan Fan Kaili Jiang 2022Nano Research2022,15,7:0
Safety and immunogenicity of a mosaic vaccine booster against Omicron and other SARS-CoV-2 variants:a randomized phase 2 trial显示文摘An ongoing randomized,double-blind,controlled phase 2 trial was conducted to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of a mosaic-type recombinant vaccine candidate, named NVSI-06-09,as a booster dose in subjects aged 18 years and older from the United Arab Emirates(UAE),who had administered two or three doses of inactivated vaccine BBIBP-CorV at least 6 months prior to enrollment. The participants were randomly assigned with 1:1 to receive a booster dose of NVSI-06-09 or BBIBP-CorV.The primary outcomes were immunogenicity and safety against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)Omicron variant, and the exploratory outcome was cross-immunogenicity against other circulating strains.Between May 25 and 30,2022,516 adults received booster vaccination with 260 in NVSI-06-09 group and 256 in BBIBP-CorV group.Interim results showed a similar safety profile between two booster groups, with low incidence of adverse reactions of grade 1 or 2.For immunogenicity,by day 14 post-booster,the fold rises in neutralizing antibody geometric mean titers(GMTs)from baseline elicited by NVSI-06-09 were remarkably higher than those by BBIBP-CorV against the prototype strain(19.67 vs 4.47-fold),Omicron BA.1.1(42.35 vs 3.78-fold),BA.2(25.09 vs 2.91-fold),BA.4(22.42 vs 2.69-fold),and BA.5 variants(27.06 vs 4.73-fold).Similarly,the neutralizing GMTs boosted by NVSI-06-09 against Beta and Delta variants were also 6.60-fold and 7.17-fold higher than those by BBIBP-CorV.Our findings indicated that a booster dose of NVSI-06-09 was well-tolerated and elicited broad-spectrum neutralizing responses against divergent SARS-CoV-2 variants, including Omicron and its sub-lineages.Nawal Al Kaabi Yun Kai Yang Yu Liang Ke Xu Xue Feng Zhang Yun Kang Yu Qin Jin Jun Wei Hou Jing Zhang Tian Yang Salah Hussein Mohamed Saif ElDein Ze Hua Lei Hao Zhang Shuai Shao Zhao Ming Liu Ning Liu Xiang Zheng Ji Guo Su Sen Sen Yang Xiangfeng Cong Yao Tan Wenwen Lei Xue Jun Gao Zhiwei Jiang Hui Wang Meng Li Hanadi Mekki Mekki Walid Zaher Sally Mahmoud Xue Zhang Chang Qu Dan Ying Liu Jing Zhang Mengjie Yang Islam Eltantawy Peng Xiao Fu Jie Shen Jin Juan Wu Zi Bo Han Li Fang Du Fang Tang Shi Chen Zhi Jing Ma Fan Zheng Ya Nan Hou Xin Yu Li Xin Li Zhao Nian Wang Jin Liang Yin Xiao Yan Mao Jin Zhang Liang Qu Yun Tao Zhang Xiao Ming Yang Guizhen Wu Qi Ming Li 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,2:0
