| 1 | Principle for obtaining high joint quality in dissimilar friction welding of Ti-6Al-4V alloy and SUS316L stainless steel显示文摘Ti-6Al-4V alloy(Ti64)and SUS316 L stainless steel rods were dissimilarly friction welded.Especially focusing on the detailed observation of interface microstructural evolution during the friction welding(FW),the relationship between the processing conditions,weld interface microstructure,and mechanical properties of the obtained joints were systematically investigated to elucidate the principle for obtaining a high joint quality in the FW of Ti64 and SUS316L.A higher friction pressure produced a lower welding temperature in the FW,hence suppressing the thick intermetallic compound layer formation.However,hard and brittle Ti64/SUS316L mechanically mixed layers generally formed especially at the weld interface periphery due to the high temperature increasing rate,high rotation linear velocity and high outward flow velocity of the Ti64.These harmful layers tended to induce the cracks/voids formation at the weld interfaces hence deteriorating the joints’mechanical properties.The rotation speed reduction and liquid CO2 cooling during the entire processing decreased the temperature increasing rate,rotation linear velocity and outward flow velocity of the Ti64 at the weld interface periphery.Therefore,they suppressed the formation of the harmful mechanically mixed layers,facilitated the homogeneous and sound interface microstructure generation,and finally produced a high-quality dissimilar joint in the FW of Ti64 and SUS316L. | Huihong Liu Yo Aoki Yasuhiro Aoki Kohsaku Ushioda Hidetoshi Fujii | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020，42，11： | 3 |
| 2 | Sulforaphane-rich broccoli sprout extract improves hepatic abnormalities in male subjects显示文摘AIM: To evaluate effects of dietary supplementation of sulforaphane(SF)-rich broccoli sprout(BS) extract on hepatic abnormalities in Japanese male participants.METHODS: In a randomized,placebo-controlled,double blind trial,male participants with fatty liver received either BS capsules containing glucoraphanin [GR; a precursor of SF(n = 24)] or placebo(n = 28) for 2 mo. Liver function markers,serum levels of aspartate and alanine aminotransferases(AST and ALT,respectively) and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase(γ-GTP) and an oxidative stress marker,urinary levels of 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine(8-OHd G),were measured and compared in participants before and after the trial period. In an animal model,chronic liver failure was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats by successive intraperitoneal injection with N-nitrosodimethylamine(NDMA) for 4 wk. Concomitantly,rats received AIN-76 diets supplemented with or without BS extract. Thereafter,rats were sacrificed,and their sera and livers were collected to measure serum liver function markers and hepatic levels of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS) levels and hepatic glutathione S-transferase(GST) activity,a prototypical phase 2 antioxidant enzyme.RESULTS: Dietary supplementation with BS extract containing SF precursor GR for 2 mo significantly decreased serum levels of liver function markers,ALT [median(interquartile range),before: 54.0(34.5-79.0) vs after supplementation: 48.5(33.3-65.3) IU/L,P < 0.05] and γ-GTP [before: 51.5(40.8-91.3) vs after: 50.0(37.8-85.3) IU/L,P < 0.05],as well as the alkali phosphatase activity. Placebo showed no significant effects on the markers. The urinary level of 8-OHd G,an established oxidative stress marker,was significantly reduced in participants who had received BS capsules but not the placebo [before: 6.66(5.51-9.03) vs after: 5.49(4.89-6.66) ng/mg-creatinine,P < 0.05]. The reduction of urinary 8-OHd G was significantly correlated with decreased levels of both ALT and γ-GTP [?8-OHd G and ?ALT: Spearman r(r) 0.514 and P = 0.012,?8-OHd G and ?γ-GTP: r = 0.496 and P = 0.016]. | 3 | Influence of contamination on banded iron formations in the Isua supracrustal belt, West Greenland: Reevaluation of the Eoarchean seawater compositions显示文摘Banded Iron Formations(BIFs) are chemical sediments, ubiquitously distributed in the Precambrian supracrustal belts; thus their trace element compositions are helpful for deciphering geochemical evolution on the Earth through time. However, it is necessary to elucidate factors controlling the whole-rock compositions in order to decode the ancient seawater compositions because their compositions are highly variable. We analyzed major and trace element contents of the BIFs in the 3.8-3.7 Ga Isua supracrustal belt(ISB), southern West Greenland. The BIFs are petrographically classified into four types:Black-,Gray-, Green-and White-types, respectively. The Green-type BIFs contain more amphiboles, and are significantly enriched in Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Y, heavy rare earth element(HREE) and U contents. However,their bulk compositions are not suitable for estimate of seawater composition because the enrichment was caused by secondary mobility of metamorphic Mg, Ca and Si-rich fluid, involvement of carbonate minerals and silicate minerals of olivine and pyroxene and/or later silicification or contamination of volcanic and clastic materials. The White-type BIFs are predominant in quartz, and have lower transition element and REE contents. The Gray-type BIFs contain both quartz and magnetite. The Black-type BIFs are dominated by magnetite, and contain moderate to high transition element and REE contents. But,positive correlations of V, Ni, Zn and U contents with Zr contents suggest that involvement of detrital,volcanic and exhalative materials influences on their contents. The evidence for significant influence of the materials on the transition element contents such as Ni in the BIFs indicates the transition element contents in the Archean ocean were much lower than previously estimated. We reconstructed secular variations of V,Co, Zn and U contents of BIFs through time, which show Ni and Co contents decreased whereas V, Zn and U contents increased through time. Especially, the Ni and Co contents drastically decreased in the Mesoarchean rather than around the Great Oxidation Event. On the other hand, the V,Zn and U contents progressively increased from the Mesoarchean to the Proterozoic. Stratigraphical trends of the BIFs show increase in Y/Ho ratios and decrease in positive Eu anomaly upwards, respectively. | 5 | Flat friction spot joining of aluminum alloy to carbon fiber reinforced polymer sheets:Experiment and simulation显示文摘The Al alloy and carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP)hybrid structures,incorporating the performance advantages of the two materials,have been attracting more attention in high-end manufacturing fields.In the current investigation,the flat friction spot joining(FSJ)was employed in joining the AA6061-T6 alloy and CFRP sheets.The significance of temperature distribution in influencing joint quality was highlighted through analyzing interface microstructural features,weld defect formation as well as fractography.To understand the role of thermal energy generation and conduction in the process comprehensively,a 3D thermal-mechanical coupling finite element model was established.The interfacial temperature was characterized by an uneven distribution behavior due to the inhomogeneous heat distribution.The peak temperatures on the top surface and Al alloy to CFRP interface at 1500 rpm rotational speed with 0.1 mm/s plunging speed were 498℃and 489°C,respectively.The peak interface temperature was reduced to286℃at 250 rpm,which produced an extremely small melted area.Compared with the plunging speed,rotational speed was found to be the predominant parameter for determining the joint property,which could be optimized to simultaneously realize the avoidance of thermal decomposition of CFRP,the sufficient melting duration time,and the wide enough melted area.Simulated thermal histories and melted area profiles were in agreement with experimental ones.The findings could be utilized to provide some feasible guidance for process optimization of dissimilar FSJ of metals and composites. | Peihao Geng Ninshu Ma Hong Ma Yunwu Ma Kazuki Murakami Huihong Liu Yasuhiro Aoki Hidetoshi Fujii | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022，，12： | 1 |
