| 1 | Study on the velocity structure of the crust in Southwest Yunnan of the north-south seismic belt—Results from the Menghai-Gengma-Lushui deep seismic sounding profile显示文摘Southwest Yunnan, located in the southern segment of the north-south seismic belt, is one of the regions with strong tectonic movement and seismic activity in China. Study on the characteristics of tectonic setting and deep geophysical field in the region is an important issue in basic science. In 2013, we conducted a 600-km-long Menghai-Gengma-Lushui profile of deep seismic wide-angle reflection/refraction and high-resolution seismic refraction in Southwest Yunnan. In this paper, we use 6 groups of clear intracrustal P-wave phases picked from the seismic record sections of 11 shots to build a velocity structure model of basement and 2D crustal P-wave of the region by using finite difference inversion and ray travel time forward fitting technology. The results show that, from south to north, the crust gradually thickens along the profile and its basement shows a significant lateral heterogeneity. In the vicinity of the Nanting River fault, the basement structure shows the character of alternate depressions and uplifts, and the shallowest basement is about 1.0 km. In the vicinity of Tengchong and Lancang, the basement is about 5.0 km deep. The velocity of the middle and lower crust in the region generally increases with the increasing of depth. At the block boundary and beneath the fault tectonic belt, the velocity contours show apparent irregularity and the P-wave velocity changes sharply. In this region, the Moho gradually deepens from south to north with relatively large lateral undulations. The shallowest point of the Moho is located near Menghai at a depth of about 32.0 km. The deepest point of the Moho is located near Tengchong at a depth of about 40.5 km. Between Gengma and Yongde, the Moho shows significantly fast uplifting and depressing with an amplitude of about 4.0 km. Beneath the Nanting River fault, Longling-Ruili fault, Dayingjiang fault and Tengchong volcano, the basement velocity structure, 2D crustal P-wave velocity structure, distribution of average profile velocity and intracrustal interface spreading also show significant changes from the basement to the top of the Moho, indicating that the crustal velocity and medium physical properties beneath the fault tectonic belt are apparently different from the crustal materials on its both sides, which suggests that these faults should be in a certain scale and may extend to the lower crust or the top of the upper mantle. The earthquakes in the region mainly occurred at a depth of 10–20 km, and the seismic activity is related to the intracrustal medium velocity difference and fault belt distribution. We investigated the effects of deltamethrin on embryonic development and offspring traits in two turtle species, one with parchment-shelled eggs and the other with rigidshelled eggs. Deltamethrin exposure during egg incubation did not affect hatching success and hatchling body size in either species. However, embryonic exposure to deltamethrin resulted in reduced hatchling locomotor performance in the red-eared slider turtle(Trachemys scripta) with parchment-shelled eggs, but not in the Chinese three-keeled pond turtle(Chinemys reevesii) with rigid-shelled eggs. | 4 | Functional assembly of root-associated microbial consortia improves nutrient efficiency and yield in soybean显示文摘Root-associated microbes are critical for plant growth and nutrient acquisition. However, scant information exists on optimizing communities of beneficial root-associated microbes or the mechanisms underlying their interactions with host plants. In this report, we demonstrate that rootassociated microbes are critical influencers of host plant growth and nutrient acquisition. Three synthetic communities(SynComs) were constructed based on functional screening of 1,893 microbial strains isolated from root-associated compartments of soybean plants. Functional assemblage of SynComs promoted significant plant growth and nutrient acquisition under both N/P nutrient deficiency and sufficiency conditions.Field trials further revealed that application of SynComs stably and significantly promoted plant growth, facilitated N and P acquisition, and subsequently increased soybean yield. Among the tested communities, SynCom1 exhibited the greatest promotion effect, with yield increases of up to 36.1% observed in two field sites. Further RNA-seq implied that SynCom application systemically regulates N and P signaling networks at the transcriptional level, which leads to increased representation of important growth pathways, especially those related to auxin responses. | 5 | Low-frequency unsteadiness of vortex wakes over slender bodies at high angle of attack显示文摘A type of flow unsteadiness with low frequencies and large amplitude was investigated experimentally for vortex wakes around an ogive-tangent cylinder. The experiments were carried out at angles of attack of 60–80 and subcritical Reynolds numbers of 0.6–1.8×105. The reduced frequencies of the unsteadiness are between 0.038 and 0.072, much less than the frequency of Karman vortex shedding. The unsteady flow induces large fluctuations of sectional side forces. The results of pressure measurements and particle image velocimetry indicate that the flow unsteadiness comes from periodic oscillation of the vortex wakes over the slender body. The time-averaged vortex patterns over the slender body are asymmetric, whose orientation is dependent on azimuthal locations of tip perturbations. | 7 | 单周多西他赛加顺铂联合三维适形放疗治疗局部晚期食管癌的临床研究(英文)显示文摘Objective: This randomized controlled clinical study was to assess and compare the efficacy and safety of two chemoradiotherapy regimens [cisplatin+5-fluorouracil+3 dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3DCRT) and cisplatin+weekly docetaxel+3DCRT] in patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: A total of seventy-four patients with clinical stages IIB to IIIB esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were enrolled. Chemotherapy for PF group comprised 5-fluorouracil at days 1-5 (250 mg/m2/d) and cisplatin (20 mg/m2) at days 1-3 of every 28-day cycle; full treatment course included 2 cycles. Chemotherapy for DP group comprised docetaxel (20 mg/m2) and cisplatin (20 mg/m2) at days 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and 36. Both groups treated with concurrent 60 Gy 3DCRT at 200 cGy/d. Results: Seventy-four patients were enrolled and 71 completed the planned treatment, with a follow-up rate of 95.94%. Short-term curative effect was not statistically significant between the two groups (P=0.471). The 2-year survival rates were 65.7% and 61.1%, respectively (P=0.806), 5 years survival rates were 34.29% and 27.78%, respectively (P=0.221), and there was no significant difference by Fisher test (P=0.734). As common side effects, incidence rates of radioactive esophagitis and hematological toxicity were lower in DP group. | 8 | Crustal P-wave velocity structure in the northeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and insights into crustal deformation显示文摘The transitional area between the northeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, Ordos Block and Alxa Block,also being the northern segment of the North-South Seismic Belt, is characterized by considerably high seismicity level and high risk of strong earthquakes. In view of the special tectonic environment and deep tectonic setting in this area, this study used two seismic wide-angle reflection/refraction cross profiles for double constraining, so as to more reliably obtain the fine-scale velocity structure characteristics in both the shallow and deep crust of individual blocks and their boundaries in the study area,and further discuss the seismogenic environment in seismic zones with strong historical earthquakes. In this paper, the P-wave data from the two profiles are processed and interpreted, and two-dimensional crustal velocity structure models along the two profiles are constructed by travel time forward modeling. The results show that there are great differences in velocity structure,shape of intra-crustal interfaces and crustal thickness among different blocks sampled by the two seismic profiles. The crustal thickness along the Lanzhou-Huianbu-Yulin seismic sounding profile(L1) increases from ~43 km in the western margin of Ordos Block to ~56 km in the Qilian Block to the west. In the Ordos Block, the velocity contours vary gently, and the average velocity of the crust is about 6.30 km s-1; On the other hand, the velocity structures in the crust of the Qilian Block and the arclike tectonic zone vary dramatically, and the average crustal velocities in these areas are about 0.10 km s-1 lower than that of the Ordos Block. In addition, discontinuous low-velocity bodies(LVZ1 and LVZ2) are identified in the crust of the Qilian Block and the arc-like tectonic zone, the velocity of which is 0.10–0.20 km s-1 lower than that of the surroundings. The average crustal thickness of the Ordos Block is consistently estimated to be around 43 km along both Profile L2(Tongchuan-Huianbu-Alashan left banner seismic sounding profile) and Profile L1. In contrast to the gently varying intra-crustal interfaces and velocity contours in the Ordos Block along Profile L1, which is a typical structure characteristic of stable cratons, the crustal structure in the Ordos Block along Profile L2 exhibits rather complex variations. This indicates the presence of significant structural differences in the crust within the Ordos Block. The crustal structure of the Helan Mountain Qilian Block and the Yinchuan Basin is featured by 'uplift and depression' undulations, showing the characteristics of localized compressional deformation.Moreover, there are low-velocity zones with alternative high and low velocities in the middle and lower crust beneath the Helan Mountain, where the velocity is about 0.15–0.25 km s-1 lower than that of the surrounding areas. The crustal thickness of the Alxa Block is about 49 km, and the velocity contours in the upper and middle-lower crust of the block vary significantly. The complex crustal velocity structure images along the two seismic sounding profiles L1 and L2 reveal considerable structural differences among different tectonic blocks, their coupling relationships and velocity structural features in the seismic zones where strong historical earthquakes occurred. | 10 | Relative energy zero ratio-based approach for identifying pulse-like ground motions显示文摘Pulse-like ground motions are capable of inflicting significant damage to structures. Efficient classification of pulse-like ground motion is of great importance when performing the seismic assessment in near-fault regions. In this study, a new method for identifying the velocity pulses is proposed, based on different trends of two parameters: the short-time energy and the short-time zero crossing rate of a ground motion record. A new pulse indicator, the relative energy zero ratio(REZR), is defined to qualitatively identify pulse-like features. The threshold for pulse-like ground motions is derived and compared with two other identification methods through statistical analysis. The proposed procedure not only shows good accuracy and efficiency when identifying pulse-like ground motions but also exhibits good performance for classifying records with high-frequency noise and discontinuous pulses. The REZR method does not require a waveform formula to express and fit the potential velocity pulses;it is a purely signal-based classification method. | 12 | Mettl3 deficiency leads to the upregulation of Cav1.2 and increases arrhythmia susceptibility in mice显示文摘Methyltransferase-like 3(Mettl3)is a component of methyltransferase complex that mediates m6A modification of RNAs,and participates in multiple biological processes.However,the role of Mettl3 in cardiac electrophysiology remains unknown.This study aims to explore the ventricular arrhythmia susceptibility of Mettl3+/–mice and the underlying mechanisms.Mice were anesthetized with 2%avertin(0.1 mL/10 g body weight)for echocardiography and programmed electrical pacing.Whole-cell patch clamp technique was used to examine the electrophysiological property of cardiomyocytes.The expression of Cav1.2 was determined by qRT-PCR and western blot analysis.The m6A medication of mRNA was examined by MeRIP-Seq and MeRIP-qPCR.No differences are found in the morphology and function of the hearts between Mettl3+/–mice and wild-type(WT)controls.The QT and QTc intervals of Mettl3+/–mice are significantly longer.High-frequency electrical stimulation showed that heterozygous knockout of Mettl3 increases ventricular arrhythmia susceptibility.The whole-cell patch-clamp recordings showed that the APD is prolonged in Mettl3+/–ventricular myocytes and more EADs were observed.The density of ICa-L is substantially increased in ventricular myocytes of Mettl3+/–mice.The pore-forming subunit of L-type calcium channel Cav1.2 is upregulated in Mettl3+/–mice,while the mRNA of its coding gene CACNA1C does not change.MeRIP-Seq and MeRIP-qPCR showed that the m6A methylation of CACNA1C mRNA is decreased in cultured Mettl3-knockdown cardiomyocytes and Mettl3+/–hearts.Collectively,deficiency of Mettl3 increases ventricular arrhythmia susceptibility due to the upregulation of Cav1.2 by reducing m6A modification on CACNA1C mRNA in mice.This study highlights the role of m6A modification in the regulation of cardiac electrophysiology. | Ling Shi Xuexin Jin Zheng Li Rui Gong Yang Guo Jiudong Ma Yang Zhang Benzhi Cai Baofeng Yang Dongmei Gong Zhenwei Pan | 2022 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,2: | 1 |

| 15 | iASPP protects the heart from ischemia injury by inhibiting p53 expression and cardiomyocyte apoptosis显示文摘Currently, there remains a great need to elucidate the molecular mechanism of acute myocardial infarction in order to facilitate the development of novel therapy. Inhibitor of apoptosis-stimulating protein of p53 (iASPP) is a member of the ASPP family proteins and an evolutionarily preserved inhibitor of p53 that is involved in many cellular processes, including apoptosis of cancer cells. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible role of iASPP in acute myocardial infarction. The protein level of iASPP was markedly reduced in the ischemic hearts in vivo and hydrogen peroxide-exposed cardiomyocytes in vitro. Overexpression of iASPP reduced the infarct size and cardiomyocyte apoptosis of mice subjected to 24 h of coronary artery ligation. Echocardiography showed that cardiac function was improved as indicated by the increase in ejection fraction and fractional shortening. In contrast, knockdown of iASPP exacerbated cardiac injury as manifested by impaired cardiac function, increased infarct size, and apoptosis rate. Mechanistically, overexpression of iASPP inhibited, while knockdown of iASPP increased the expressions of p53 and Bax, the key regulators of apoptosis.
