| 7 | The intra-neuroendoscopic technique: a new method for rapid removal of acute severe intraventricular hematoma显示文摘The mortality rate of acute severe intraventricular hematoma is extremely high, and the rate of disability in survivors is high. Intraventricular hematoma has always been a difficult problem for clinical treatment. Although minimally invasive endoscopic hematoma evacuation is widely used to treat this disease, the technique still has room for improvement. Equipment for the intra-neuroendoscopic technique(INET) consists of two of our patented inventions: a transparent sheath(Patent No. ZL 200820046232.0) and a hematoma aspirator(Patent No. ZL 201520248717.8). This study explored the safety and efficacy of INET by comparing it with extraventricular drainage in combination with urokinase thrombolytic therapy. This trial recruited 65 patients with severe intraventricular hemorrhage, including 35(19 men and 16 women, aged 53.2 ± 8.7 years) in the INET group and 30(17 men and 13 women, aged 51.5 ± 7.9 years) in the control group(extraventricular drainage plus urokinase thrombolytic therapy). Our results showed that compared with the control group, the INET group exhibited lower intraventricular hemorrhage volumes, shorter intensive care-unit monitoring and ventricular drainage-tube placement times, and fewer incidences of intracranial infection, secondary bleeding, and mortality. Thus, the prognosis of survivors had improved remarkably. These findings indicate that INET is a safe and efficient new method for treating severe intraventricular hematoma. | 8 | Altered regional homogeneity in post-traumatic stress disorder: a resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging study显示文摘Objective Little is known about the brain systems that contribute to vulnerability to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Comparison of the resting-state patterns of intrinsic functional synchronization, as measured by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), between groups with and without PTSD following a traumatic event can help identify the neural mechanisms of the disorder and targets for intervention. Methods Fifty-four PTSD patients and 72 matched traumatized subjects who experienced the 2008 Sichuan earthquake were imaged with blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) fMRI and analyzed using the measure of regional homogeneity (ReHo) during the resting state. Results PTSD patients presented enhanced ReHo in the left inferior parietal lobule and right superior frontal gyrus, and reduced ReHo in the right middle temporal gyrus and lingual gyrus, relative to traumatized individuals without PTSD. Conclusion Our findings showed that abnormal brain activity exists under resting conditions in PTSD patients who had been exposed to a major earthquake. | 10 | R-CHOP regimen can significantly decrease the risk of disease relapse and progression in patients with non-germinal centerB-cell subtype diffuse large B-cell lymphoma显示文摘To further explore the role of rituximab when added to the CHOP-like regimen in the treatment of immunohistochemically defined non-germinal center B-cell subtype (non-GCB) diffuse large B-celllymphoma (DLBCL), 159 newly diagnosed DLBCL patients were studied retrospectively based on the immunohistochemical evaluation of CD10, Bcl-6, MUM-1, and Bcl-2. Altogether, 110 patients underwent the CHOP-like regimen, and rituximab was added for the other 49 patients. Cox regression analysis showed that compared with the CHOP-like regimen, the rituximab-based regimen (R-CHOP regimen)significantly decreased the risk of disease relapse and progression in CD10-negative patients (P=0.001),Bcl-6-negative patients (P=0.01), and MUM-1-positive patients (P=0.003). The risk of disease relapse in patients with non-GCB subtype (P=0.002) also decreased. In contrast, patients with the opposite immunohistochemical marker expression profile and GCB subtype did not benefit from treatment with the R-CHOP regimen. In addition, non-GCB subtype patients had a significantly higher expression rate of Bcl-2 than GCB subtype patients (P=0.042). Although univariate analysis found that both Bcl-2-positive and-negative patients had significantly higher event-free survival rates with the R-CHOP regimen, only Bcl-2 positivity (P=0.004) maintained significance in the Cox regression analysis. | 11 | Lamivudine prophylaxis of liver allograft HBV reinfection in HBV related cirrhotic patients after liver transplantation显示文摘BACKGROUND: Liver allograft hepatitis B virus (HBV) reinfection and hepatitis B (HB) recurrence jeopardize the long-term survival of recipient and liver allograft. Lamivu- dine has been referred as a novel antiviral agent against HBV in HBV cirrhotic patients even in liver transplantation setting. We assessed the prophylatic effect of lamivudine on liver allograft HBV reinfection and clarified the dynamic changes of HBV markers in HBV related decompensated liver cirrhosis after liver transplantation. METHODS: Twenty-five recipients were divided into three groups: HBV active replication group (15 recipients), HBV inactive replication group (7), and control group (3). 100 mg/d lamivudine was administered preoperatively except in the control group. The HBV markers of serial sera and liver biopsy samples of the 25 recipients were evaluated re- gularly with enzyme-linked radioimmunoassay, HBV DNA fluorecent quantitative assay, immunohistochemical stain- ing , labelled streptavidin biotin ( LSAB) and digoxin la- belled HBV DNA hybridization in situ. The dynamic alter- nation of HBV markers under lamivudine prophylaxis was observed. RESULTS: In the HBV active replication group who had received lamivudine 2 weeks before liver transplantation, serum HBV DNA positive converted to negative by 80%. HBsAg of all recipients disappeared after liver transplanta- tion , but corresponding antibodies of HBV appeared within one week after the operation. HBsAb 9/15, HBcAb 13/15 and HBeAb 11/15 appeared and subsided gradually within 24 weeks. HBV DNA in sera was kept negative; HBsAg, HBcAg and HBV DNA hybridization in situ of liver biopsy samples remained negative after use of lamivudine. Ten of the 15 recipients showed clearance of HBV, and per se HBV markers were undetectable both in serum and liver bi- opsy samples between 12 to 44 weeks (24 weeks on ave- rage). The 1-, 2-year survival rates were 83% in this group. Two of the 15 recipients developed HBV allograft reinfection or recurrence of hepatitis 2 years after lamivudi- ne monoprophylaxis (2/15, 13.3%). In the HBV inactive replication group, the outcome was similar to that of the HBV active group. The HBV antibody frequency was HBs- Ab 4/7, HBcAb 6/7, and HBeAb 2/7. Three of 7 recipients showed HBV clearance both in sera and liver biopsy sam- ples , whereas in the control group all 3 recipients developed HBV allograft reinfection and recurrent hepatitis 8, 10, 12 months postoperatively; one of them died of fibrosing cho- lestatic hepatitis, and the remaining 2 recovered after addi- tional lamivudine therapy. The overall allograft reinfection rate was 9.1% (2/22) and the overall 1-, 2-year survival rates were 87%) in the lamivudine prophylaxis group. CONCLUSIONS: Lamivudine prophylaxis can prevent ef- fectively liver allograft from HBV reinfection in patients with HBV-related decompensated liver cirrhosis even in HBV active replication recipient after liver transplantation. | 12 | Advances in statistical mechanics of rock masses and its engineering applications显示文摘To efficiently link the continuum mechanics for rocks with the structural statistics of rock masses,a theoretical and methodological system called the statistical mechanics of rock masses(SMRM)was developed in the past three decades.In SMRM,equivalent continuum models of stressestrain relationship,strength and failure probability for jointed rock masses were established,which were based on the geometric probability models characterising the rock mass structure.This follows the statistical physics,the continuum mechanics,the fracture mechanics and the weakest link hypothesis.A general constitutive model and complete stressestrain models under compressive and shear conditions were also developed as the derivatives of the SMRM theory.An SMRM calculation system was then developed to provide fast and precise solutions for parameter estimations of rock masses,such as full-direction rock quality designation(RQD),elastic modulus,Coulomb compressive strength,rock mass quality rating,and Poisson’s ratio and shear strength.The constitutive equations involved in SMRM were integrated into a FLAC3D based numerical module to apply for engineering rock masses.It is also capable of analysing the complete deformation of rock masses and active reinforcement of engineering rock masses.Examples of engineering applications of SMRM were presented,including a rock mass at QBT hydropower station in northwestern China,a dam slope of Zongo II hydropower station in D.R.Congo,an open-pit mine in Dexing,China,an underground powerhouse of Jinping I hydropower station in southwestern China,and a typical circular tunnel in Lanzhou-Chongqing railway,China.These applications verified the reliability of the SMRM and demonstrated its applicability to broad engineering issues associated with jointed rock masses. | Faquan Wu Jie Wu Han Bao Bo Li Zhigang Shan Deheng Kong | 2021 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,1: | 8 |

| 14 | Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. | 15 | Bph30confers resistance to brown planthopperby fortifying sclerenchyma in rice leaf sheaths显示文摘Phloem-feeding insects cause massive losses in agriculture and horticulture.Host plant resistance to phloem-feeding insects is often mediated by changes in phloem composition,which deter insect settling and feeding and decrease viability.Here,we report that rice plant resistance to the phloem-feeding brown planthopper(BPH)is associated with fortification of the sclerenchyma tissue,which is located just beneath the epidermis and a cell layer or two away from the vascular bundle in the rice leaf sheath.We found that BPHs prefer to feed on the smooth and soft region on the surface of rice leaf sheaths called the long-cell block.We identified Bph30 as a rice BPH resistance gene that prevents BPH stylets from reaching the phloem due to the fortified sclerenchyma.Bph30 is strongly expressed in sclerenchyma cells and enhances cellulose and hemicellulose synthesis,making the cell walls stiffer and sclerenchyma thicker.The structurally fortified sclerenchyma is a formidable barrier preventing BPH stylets from penetrating the leaf sheath tissues and arriving at the phloem to feed.Bph30 belongs to a novel gene family,encoding a protein with two leucine-rich domains.Another member of the family,Bph40,also conferred resistance to BPH.Collectively,the fortified sclerenchyma-mediated resistance mechanism revealed in this study expands our understanding of plant-insect interactions and opens a new path for controlling planthoppers in rice. | Shaojie Shi Huiying Wang Lingyun Nie Di Tan Cong Zhou Qian Zhang YiLi Bo Du Jianping Guo Jin Huang DiWu Xiaohong Zheng Wei Guan Junhan Shan Lili Zhu Rongzhi Chen Longjian Xue Linda L.Walling Guangcun He | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,10: | 7 |
| 16 | Analysis of abnormal texture formation and strengthening mechanism in an extruded Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Zr alloy显示文摘A Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Zr magnesium alloy with different initial states was extruded under different extrusion parameters.The effect of solution treatment and extrusion parameters on the microstructure,texture and mechanical properties were analyzed in detail,and the abnormal texture formation and strengthening mechanism was revealed.When extruded at low temperature and small extrusion ratio,the bimodal microstructure consisting of fine dynamically recrystallized grains and coarse deformed grains occurred both in the as-cast alloy and solution-treated alloy.When the extrusion temperature and extrusion ratio were increased,the amount and size of dynamically recrystallized grains increased and the grain size of the solution-treated alloy showed higher growth rate.Furthermore,an abnormal texture with<0001>parallel with extrusion direction developed due to the occurrence of non-basal slip and continuous dynamic recrystallization.This could be enhanced by solution treatment,high temperature,and large extrusion ratio.Both the as-cast alloy and solution-treated alloy exhibited the highest tensile strength after extrusion at 300℃with an extrusion ratio of 9.Grain refinement was the main strengthening mechanism utilized in both the as-cast alloy and the solution-treated alloy.Work hardening played an important role in the sample extruded at low temperature and small extrusion ratio,with the highest contribution of about 33 MPa after extrusion at 300℃with an extrusion ratio of 9.Texture strengthening contributed more in the sample extruded at high temperature and large extrusion ratio,but no more than 24.1 MPa.Solution strengthening was another strengthening mechanism in the extruded as-cast alloy,especially at high temperature and large extrusion ratio(no more than 9 MPa). | Xueze Jin Wenchen Xu Zhongze Yang Can Yuan Debin Shan BugangTeng Bo Cheng Jin | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,42,10: | 7 |
