1Efficient random saliency map detection显示文摘Most image retargeting algorithms rely heavily on valid saliency map detection to proceed. However, the inefficiency of high quality saliency map detection severely restricts the application of these image retargeting methods. In this paper, we propose a random algorithm for efficient context-aware saliency map detection. Our method is a multiple level saliency map detection algorithm that integrates multiple level coarse saliency maps into the resulting saliency map and selectively updates unreliable regions of the saliency map to refine detection results. Because of the randomized search, our method requires very little additional memory beyond that for the input image and result map, and does not need to build auxiliary data structures to accelerate the saliency map detection. 2Comprehensive analysis of NAC transcription factors and their expression during fruit spine development in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)显示文摘The cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.)is an important vegetable crop worldwide,and fruit trichomes or spines are an important trait for external fruit quality.The mechanisms underlying spine formation are not well understood,but the plant-specific NAC family of transcription factors may play important roles in fruit spine initiation and development.In this study,we conducted a genome-wide survey and identified 91 NAC gene homologs in the cucumber genome.Clustering analysis classified these genes into six subfamilies;each contained a varying number of NAC family members with a similar intron–exon structure and conserved motifs.Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed tissue-specific expression patterns of these genes,including 10 and 12 that exhibited preferential expression in the stem and fruit,respectively.Thirteen of the 91 NAC genes showed higher expression in the wild-type plant than in its near-isogenic trichome mutant,suggesting their important roles in fruit spine development.Exogenous application of four plant hormones promoted spine formation and increased spine density on the cucumber fruits;several NAC genes showed differential expression over time in response to phytohormone treatments on cucumber fruit,implying their essential roles in fruit-trichome development.Among the NAC genes identified,12 were found to be targets of 13 known cucumber micro-RNAs.Collectively,these findings provide a useful resource for further analysis of the interactions between NAC genes and genes underlying trichome organogenesis and development during fruit spine development in cucumber.Xingwang Liu Ting wang Ezra Bartholomew Kezia Black Mingming Dong Yaqi Zhang Sen Yang Yanling Cai Shudan Xue Yiqun Weng Huazhong Ren 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:10
3Sheep manure application increases soil exchangeable base cations in a semi-arid steppe of Inner Mongolia显示文摘The long-term productivity of a soil is greatly influenced by cation exchange capacity(CEC).Moreover,interactions between dominant base cations and other nutrients are important for the health and stability of grassland ecosystems.Soil exchangeable base cations and cation ratios were examined in a 11-year experiment with sheep manure application rates 0–1,500 g/(m2?a) in a semi-arid steppe in Inner Mongolia of China,aiming to clarify the relationships of base cations with soil p H,buffer capacity and fertility.Results showed that CEC and contents of exchangeable calcium(Ca2+),magnesium(Mg2+),potassium(K+) and sodium(Na+) were significantly increased,and Ca2+ saturation tended to decrease,while K+ saturation tended to increase with the increases of sheep manure application rates.The Ca2+/Mg2+ and Ca2+/K+ ratios decreased,while Mg2+,K+ and Na+ saturations increased with increasing manure application rates.Both base cations and CEC were significantly and positively correlated with soil organic carbon(SOC) and soil p H.The increases of SOC and soil p H would be the dominant factors that contribute to the increase of cations in soil.On a comparison with the initial soil p H before the experiment,we deduced that sheep manure application could partly buffer soil p H decrease potentially induced by atmospheric deposition of nitrogen and sulfur.Our results indicate that sheep manure application is beneficial to the maintenance of base cations and the buffering of soil acidification,and therefore can improve soil fertility in the semi-arid steppes of northeastern China.YuGe ZHANG Shan YANG MingMing FU JiangPing CAI YongYong ZHANG RuZhen WANG ZhuWen XU YongFei BAI Yong JIANG 2015Journal of Arid Land2015,7,3:7
4Assessing the capacity of biochar to stabilize copper and lead in contaminated sediments using chemical and extraction methods显示文摘Because of its high adsorption capacity, biochar has been used to stabilize metals when remediating contaminated soils; to date, however, it has seldom been used to remediate contaminated sediment. A biochar was used as a stabilization agent to remediate Cu-and Pb-contaminated sediments, collected from three locations in or close to Beijing. The sediments were mixed with a palm sawdust gasified biochar at a range of weight ratios(2.5%, 5%, and 10%) and incubated for 10, 30, or 60 days. The performance of the different treatments and the heavy metal fractions in the sediments were assessed using four extraction methods, including diffusive gradients in thin films, the porewater concentration, a sequential extraction, and the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure. The results showed that biochar could enhance the stability of heavy metals in contaminated sediments. The degree of stability increased as both the dose of biochar and the incubation time increased. The sediment p H and the morphology of the metal crystals adsorbed onto the biochar changed as the contact time increased. 5Research on magnetic metallization of microorganism cells using electroplating technique显示文摘Spirulina platensis were chosen as templates to produce microscopic helical soft-core magnetic particles by way of depositing ferromagnetic alloy onto their surface using electroplating technique,and the process of electroplating ferromagnetic alloy onto microorganism cells was studied.The morphology and appearance of the coated Spirulina platensis were analyzed with optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy,respectively,and the ingredients and phase structure of the alloy coating were analyzed with energy dispersive X-ray detector(EDX) and X-ray diffractive analysis(XRD),respectively.The result showed that the particles were successfully coated with uniform metal coating and their initial helical shape was perfectly replicated.The coating was NiFe alloy,and its phase structure was face-centered cubic structure.The magnetic properties of the coated particles were tested with vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM),and the result showed that the particles were ferro-magnetic,which means the magnetic electroplating of the microorganism cells was successfully achieved.The electrochemical reaction mechanism of the magnetic plating process was also analyzed;the result showed that the deposition of NiFe on the microorganism cells was anomalous codeposition,and that Fe2+ ion was preferential deposited when magnetic stirring was applied.CAI Jun ZHANG DeYuan LAN MingMing LIAN ZhiYang 2011Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,6:3

10Assembly of highly efficient aqueous light-harvesting system from sequence-defined peptoids for cytosolic microRNA detection显示文摘Precisely controlled spatial distributions of artificial light-harvesting systems in aqueous media are of significant importance for mimicking natural light-harvesting systems;however,they are often restrained by the solubility and the aggregation-caused quenching effect of the hydrophobic chromophores.Herein,we report one highly efficient artificial light-harvesting system based on peptoid nanotubes that mimic the hierarchical cylindrical structure of natural systems.The high crystallinity of these nanotubes enabled the organization of arrays of donor chromophores with precisely controlled spatial distributions,favoring an efficient Förster resonance energy transfer(FRET)process in aqueous media.This FRET system exhibits an extremely high efficiency of 98.6%with a fluorescence quantum yield of 40%and an antenna effect of 29.9.We further demonstrated the use of this artificial light-harvesting system for quantifying miR-210 within cancer cells.The fluorescence intensity ratio of donor to acceptor is linearly related to the concentration of intercellular miR-210 in the range of 3.3–156 copies/cell.Such high sensitivity in intracellular detection of miR-210 using this artificial light-harvesting system offers a great opportunity and pathways for biological imaging and detection,and for the further creation of microRNA(miRNA)toolbox for quantitative epigenetics and personalized medicine.Yang Song Xiaoli Cai Mingming Wang Dan Du Yuehe Lin Chun-Long Chen 2024Nano Research2024,17,2:1

12Off-hour effect is not significant in endovascular treatment for anterior circulation large vessel occlusion in a multicentre registry显示文摘Background and purpose Whether the off-hour effect has an impact on workflow and outcomes of endovascular treatment(EVT)for anterior circulation large vessel occlusion(AC-LVO)remains uncertain.This study aimed to compare the characteristics and outcomes of patients who presented or were treated during off-hour versus on-hour in a multi-center registry.Methods AC-LVO patients from 21 centres were categorised into the off-hour group and the on-hour group.Off-hour(weekends,holidays,and 18:00-7:59 on weekdays)and on-hour(8:00-17:59 on weekdays except for holidays)were defined according to arrival and groin-puncture time points,respectively.Subgroup comparisons between patients both arrived and treated during off-hour(true off-hour)and on-hour(true on-hour)were performed.The primary outcome was the 90-day modified Rankin Scale(mRS)score.Secondary outcomes included favourable outcome(mRS 0-2 at 90 days),EVT-related time metrics,and other clinical outcomes.Ordinary and binary logistic regression and linear regression were taken to adjust for confounding factors.Results Of all 698 patients enrolled,435(62.3%)and 456(65.3%)patients were categorised into the off-hour arrival and off-hour puncture group,respectively.Shorter onset to door time(adjustedßcoefficient:−21.56;95%CI−39.96 to−3.16;p=0.022)was noted in the off-hour arrival group.Ordinal and dichotomous mRS scores at 90 days were comparable between the off-hour group and the on-hour group regardless of off-hour definitions.Other time metrics and outcomes were comparable between the two groups.Of 595 patients both presented and were treated during off-hour or on-hour,394 patients were categorised into the true off-hour group and 201 into the true on-hour group.Time metrics and clinical outcomes were similar between the true off-hour and the true on-hour group.Conclusions The off-hour effect was not significant regarding clinical outcomes and in-hospital workflow in AC-LVO patients receiving EVT in this Chinese multicentre registry.Mingming Zha Qingwen Yang Shuo Liu Kangmo Huang Xiaohao Zhang Min Wu Haodi Cai Qiushi Lv Rui Liu Dong Yang Xinfeng Liu 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,4:1
13Drug-induced hierarchical self-assembly of poly(amino acid)for efficient intracellular drug delivery显示文摘As a potent anticancer drug,gambogic acid(GA)suffers from its poor water solubility and low chemical stability and shows a limited clinical outcome.To address this problem,we report here a simple and effective strategy to immobilize and deliver GA using a reducible diblock poly(amino acid)as a model.The electrostatic interaction between GA and polymer enables a high drug loading content up to 53.6%.Moreover,the drug complexation induces a micelle-to-vesicle transformation,combined with a conformation tra nsition from random coil to a-helix.The hierarchically assembled drug nanocomplexes can serve as a smart carrier for efficient cell internalization and triggered release of multiple drugs under intracellular acidic and reductive conditions,resulting in a synergistic antitumor efficacy in vitro.This work provides a new insight into the drug-carrier interaction and a facile nanoplatform for drug delivery applications.Zifen Li Yanxue Yang Chuan Peng Hang Liu Rui Yang Yi Zheng Lulu Cai Hong Tan Qiang Fu Mingming Ding 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,4:1

15Sequence-Defined Nanotubes Assembled from IR780-Conjugated Peptoids for Chemophototherapy of Malignant Glioma显示文摘Near-infrared(NIR)laser-induced phototherapy through NIR agents has demonstrated the great potential for cancer therapy.However,insufficient tumor killing due to the nonuniform heat or cytotoxic singlet oxygen(1 O2)distribution over tumors from phototherapy results in tumor recurrence and inferior outcomes.To achieve high tumor killing efficacy,one of the solutions is to employ the combinational treatment of phototherapy with other modalities,especially with chemotherapeutic agents.In this paper,a simple and effective multimodal therapeutic system was designed via combining chemotherapy,photothermal therapy(PTT),and photodynamic therapy(PDT)to achieve the polytherapy of malignant glioma which is one of the most aggressive tumors in the brain.IR-780(IR780)dye-labeled tube-forming peptoids(PepIR)were synthesized and self-assembled into crystalline nanotubes(PepIR nanotubes).These PepIR nanotubes showed an excellent efficacy for PDT/PTT because the IR780 photosensitizers were effectively packed and separated from each other within crystalline nanotubes by tuning IR780 density;thus,a self-quenching of these IR780 molecules was significantly reduced.Moreover,the efficient DOX loading achieved due to the nanotube large surface area contributed to an efficient and synergistic chemotherapy against glioma cells.Given the unique properties of peptoids and peptoid nanotubes,we believe that the developed multimodal DOX-loaded PepIR nanotubes in this work offer great promises for future glioma therapy in clinic.Xiaoli Cai Mingming Wang Peng Mu Tengyue Jian Dong Liu Shichao Ding Yanan Luo Dan Du Yang Song Chun-Long Chen Yuehe Lin 2021Research2021,,1:1

18Divergent responses of Picea crassifolia Kom.in different forest patches to climate change in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Global climate changes have significantly affected tree growth and forest structures and functions in some arid and semi-arid regions,which are becoming warmer and wetter.Due to natural factors such as climate and terrain,some tree species may form different forest patches at the edges of their distribution areas.However,how forest patches of various sizes respond to climate change is unclear.In this study,we collected 203 tree cores from six different sizes of forest patches at the edge of the distribution area of Picea crassifolia Kom.in the northeast Tibetan Plateau.And we used the dendrochronology method to study the response of tree growth and resilience in different forest patches to climate change from 1961 to 2020.We simultaneously measured the contents of nonstructural carbohydrates(NSC),total nitrogen and total phosphorus of tree needles.Our results showed that the growth of trees in small-and medium-size forest patches(0.8–18.6 ha)has increased significantly.The early growing season(May–July)minimum temperature was the most important climate factor driving the growth of small-and medium-sized patch trees.The early growing season maximum temperature was the most important climate factor that inhibited the growth of trees in the largest patches(362.8 ha).The growth of individual trees in medium forest patches was better and the correlation with annual minimum temperature,maximum temperature,precipitation,actual evapotranspiration,and palmer drought severity index was stronger.The higher NSC content,stronger photosynthesis,and higher nitrogen utilization efficiency in leaves might be one of the reasons for the better growth of trees in moderate forest patches.In extreme drought years,as the forest patch area increased,the overall trend of tree growth resistance showed a unimodal pattern,with the highest at a forest patch area of 7.1 ha,while the overall trend of tree growth recovery was opposite.Therefore,we should strengthen the management of trees in large forest patches to cope with climate change.Zhongtong Peng Qifeng Mo Liangjun Zhu Qingao Lu Jiaqing Cai Mingming Guo Kun Xu Yuandong Zhang 2023Forest Ecosystems2023,10,6:0

20Oncological outcomes of patients with ductal adenocarcinoma of the prostate receiving radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the oncological outcomes of ductal adenocarcinoma of the prostate(DAC)managed with radical prostatectomy(RP)or radiotherapy(RT)and optimize the proper treatment modality to DAC comprehensively.Methods:The cohorts included a total of 528 patients from the Surveillance,Epidemiology and End Results(SEER)database,354 receiving RP and 174 receiving RT.Cox proportional hazards regressions were performed to assess cancer specific mortality(CSM)and overall mortality(OM)between treatment groups.A competing risk analysis was further conducted.Subgroup analyses by age and level of prostate-specific antigen(PSA)were performed.Propensity score matching was implemented.Results:Patients managed with RP had lower risks of CSM and OM compared with RT(before matching:Hazard ratio[HR]=0.24,95%confidence interval[CI]0.13-0.47 and HR=0.26,95%CI 0.17-0.40,respectively;after matching:HR=0.18,95%CI 0.04-0.82 and HR=0.28,95%CI 0.11-0.70,accordingly).Subgroup analyses demonstrated that patients in the middle tertile of the age or with lower tertile PSA level managed with RP took lower risks of OM significantly(HR=0.18,95%CI 0.06-0.57,p<0.01 and HR=0.17,95%CI 0.06-0.54,p<0.01).Conclusion:Among patients with DAC,treatment with RP was associated with better survival outcomes in comparison with RT.Patients with DAC in the middle tertile of the age and with lower tertile PSA level benefited the most from RP.Mengzhu Liu Kun Jin Shi Qiu Pengyong Xu Mingming Zhang Wufeng Cai Xiaonan Zheng Lu Yang Qiang Wei 2021Asian Journal of Urology2021,8,2:0
