1Prognostic nutritional index is an independent prognostic factor for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination显示文摘Objective: The predictive and prognostic role of prognostic nutritional index(PNI) in gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination remains unclear. This study aims to explore the role of the PNI in predicting outcomes of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination.Methods: A total of 660 patients diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma with peritoneal metastasis between January 2000 and April 2014 at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yatsen University were retrospectively analyzed. The clinicopathologic characteristics and clinical outcomes of patients with peritoneal dissemination were analyzed.Results: Compared with PNI-high group, PNI-low group was correlated with advanced age(P=0.036), worse performance status(P<0.001), higher frequency of ascites(P<0.001) and higher frequency of multisite distant metastasis(P<0.001). Kaplan-Meier survival curves showed that PNI-high group had a significantly longer median overall survival than PNI-low group(13.13 vs. 9.03 months, P<0.001). Multivariate survival analysis revealed that Borrmann type IV(P=0.014), presence of ascites(P=0.017) and lower PNI(P=0.041) were independent poor prognostic factors, and palliative surgery(P<0.001) and first-line chemotherapy(P<0.001) were good prognostic factors. For patients receiving palliative surgery, the postoperative morbidity rates in the PNI-low group and PNIhigh group were 9.1% and 9.9%, respectively(P=0.797). 2Effects of tourmaline on nitrogen removal performance and biofilm structures in the sequencing batch biofilm reactor显示文摘The effects of tourmaline on nitrogen removal performance and biofilm structures were comparatively investigated in two identical laboratory-scale sequencing batch biofilm reactors(SBBRs)(denoted SBBR1 and SBBR2) at different nitrogen loading rates(NLRs) varying from(0.24 ± 0.01) to(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day). SBBR1 was operated in parallel with SBBR2, but SBBR1 was filled with polyurethane foam loaded tourmaline(TPU) carriers and another(SBBR2) filled with polyurethane foam(PU) carriers. Results obtained from this study showed that the excellent and stable performance of SBBR1 was obtained. Ammonia nitrogen removal and total nitrogen removal were higher in SBBR1 than that in SBBR2 with increase of NLR. At an NLR of(0.24 ± 0.01) g N/(L·day), the majority of the spherical and elliptical bacteria were surrounded by the extracellular polymeric substance(EPS) and bacillus or filamentous bacteria in two SBBRs biofilms. When NLR increased to(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day), the clusters were more obvious in the SBBR1 biofilm than that in the SBBR2 biofilm. Bacteria in SBBR1 were inclined to synthesis more EPS, and the formed EPS could protect the bacteria from free ammonia(FA) under extreme condition NLR(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day). 3Occurrence and infection risk of waterborne pathogens in Wanzhou watershed of the Three Gorges Reservoir, China显示文摘The Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR), formed by China's Yangtze Three Gorges Project, is the largest lake in the world, but there is too little information available about fecal contamination and waterborne pathogen impacts on this aquatic ecosystem. During two successive 1-year study periods (July 2009 to July 2011), the water quality in Wanzhou watershed of the TGR was tested with regard to the presence of fecal indicators and pathogens. According to Chinese and World Health Organization water quality standards, water quality in the mainstream was good but poor in backwater areas. Salmonella, Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC), Giardia and Cryptosporidium were detected in the watershed. Prevalence and concentrations of the pathogens in the mainstream were lower than those in backwater areas. The estimated risk of infection with Salmonella, EHEC, Cryptosporidium, and Giardia per exposure event ranged from 2.9 × 10 -7 to 1.68 × 10-5 , 7.04 × 10-10 to 2.36 × 10-7 , 5.39 × 10-6 to 1.25 × 10-4 and 0 to 1.2 × 10-3 , respectively, for occupational divers and recreational swimmers exposed to the waters. The estimated risk of infection at exposure to the 95% upper confidence limit concentrations of Salmonella, Cryptosporidium and Giardia may be up to 2.62 × 10-5 , 2.55 × 10-4 and 2.86 × 10-3 , respectively. 4Analysis and external validation of a nomogram to predict peritoneal dissemination in gastric cancer显示文摘Objective:Peritoneal dissemination is difficult to diagnose by conventional imaging technologies.We aimed to construct a nomogram to predict peritoneal dissemination in gastric cancer(GC)patients.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 1,112 GC patients in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center between2001 and 2010 as the development set and 474 patients from The Sixth Affiliated Hospital,Sun Yat-sen University between 2010 and 2016 as the validation set.The clinicopathological variables associated with gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination(GCPD)were analyzed.We used logistic regression analysis to identify independent risk factors for peritoneal dissemination.Then,we constructed a nomogram for the prediction of GCPD and defined its predictive value with a receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.External validation was performed to validate the applicability of the nomogram.Results:In total,250 patients were histologically identified as having peritoneal dissemination.Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that age,sex,tumor location,tumor size,signet-ring cell carcinoma(SRCC),T stage,N stage and Borrmann classification IV(Borrmann IV)were independent risk factors for peritoneal dissemination.We constructed a nomogram consisting of these eight factors to predict GCPD and found an optimistic predictive capability,with a C-index of 0.791,an area under the curve(AUC)of 0.791,and a 95%confidence interval(95%CI)of 0.762-0.820.The results found in the external validation set were also promising.Conclusions:We constructed a highly sensitive nomogram that can assist clinicians in the early diagnosis of GCPD and serve as a reference for optimizing clinical management strategies.Xijie Chen Shi Chen Xinyou Wang Runcong Nie Dongwen Chen Jun Xiang Yijia Lin Yingbo Chen Junsheng Peng 2020Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,2:6
5A nomogram to predict prognosis for gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination显示文摘Objective: To identify independent prognostic factors to be included in a nomogram to predict the prognosis of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination.Methods: This is a retrospective study on 684 patients with a histological diagnosis of gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination from the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center as the development set, and 62 gastric cancer patients from the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University as the validation group. Chi-square test and Cox regression analysis were used to compare the clinicopathological variables and the prognosis of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination. The Harrell's concordance index(C-index) and calibration curve were determined for comparisons of predictive ability of the nomogram.Results: Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that serum carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) level(P=0.032), ascites grading(P=0.008), presence of extraperitoneal metastasis(P<0.001), seeding status(P=0.016) and performance status(P=0.009) were independent prognostic factors for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination in the development set. The nomogram model was constructed using these five factors. Internal validation showed that the C-index of the model was 0.641. For the external validation, the C-index of this model was 0.709.Conclusions: We developed and validated a nomogram to predict the prognosis for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination. 6MODIS observations of water color of the largest 10 lakes in China between 2000 and 2012显示文摘Forel-Ule(FU)index of water color is an important parameter in traditional water quality investigations.We retrieved the FU index of the largest 10 lakes in China during 2000-2012 from MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer surface reflectance product(MOD09)images.Since FU index is an optical parameter,it can be derived from optical remote sensing data by direct formulas,which is invariant with region and season.Based on validation by in situ measured reflectance data,the FU index products are reliable,with average relative error of 7.7%.FU index can be used to roughly assess water clarity:the clearer a water body is,and the bluer it is in color,the smaller its FU index is.FU index can also be used to roughly classify trophic state into three classes:oligotrophic,mesotrophic,and eutrophic.We analyzed the spatial,interannual,and seasonal variations of the FU index and its implications for water clarity and trophic state,and the findings are mostly consistent with the results from related literature.All in all,it might be a feasible way to roughly assess inland water quality by FU index in large region and over long time period.Junsheng Li Shenglei Wang Yanhong Wu Bing Zhang Xiaoling Chen Fangfang Zhang Qian Shen Dailiang Peng Liqiao Tian 2016International Journal of Digital Earth2016,9,8:5
7Bulk nanocrystalline Al prepared by cryomilling显示文摘Bulk nanocrystalline Al was fabricated by mechanically milling at cryogenic temperature (cryomilling) and then by hot pressing in vacuum. By using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the microstructure evolution of the material during cryomilling and consolidation was investigated. With increasing the mill- ing time, the grain size decreased sharply and reduced to 42 nm when cryomilled for 12 h. The grains had grown up, and the colum- nar grain was formed under the hot pressing and extrusion compared with the cryomilled powders. The grain size of as-extruded specimen was approximately 300-500 nm. The reason of high thermal stability of this bulk was attributed primarily to the Zener pin- ning from the grain boundary of the AlN arising from cryomilling and the solute drag of the impurity. Tensile tests show that the strength of nanocrystalline Al is enhanced with decreasing grain size. The ultimate tensile strength and tensile elongation were 173 MPa and 17.5%, respectively. 9Bulk single crystal growth of SiGe by PMCZ method显示文摘A new type of magnetic device was used to replace the conventional electro-magnetic field for CZSi (doped with Ge) growth. The device was composed of three permanent magnetic rings and called PMCZ device. The lines of magnetic force are horizontally distributed at radial 360°. Using the ring permanent magnetic field, thermal convection in melt and centrifugal pumping flows due to crystal rotation could be strongly suppressed so that the fluctuations of temperature and micro-growth rate at solid/liquid interface could be restrained effectively. In the PMCZ condition, the growing environment of SiGe bulk single crystal was similar to the crystal growth in space under the condition of micro-gravity. The motion of impurities (Ge, oxygen, etc.) had been controlled by diffusion near the solid/liquid interface. Oxygen concentraion became lower and the distribution of composition became more homogeneous along longitudinal direction and across a radial section in the grown SiGe crystal. 10Arabidopsis U-box E3 ubiquitin ligase PUB11 negatively regulates drought tolerance by degrading the receptor-like protein kinases LRR1 and KIN7显示文摘Both plant receptor-like protein kinases(RLKs)and ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis play crucial roles in plant responses to drought stress.However,the mechanism by which E3 ubiquitin ligases modulate RLKs is poorly understood.In this study,we showed that Arabidopsis PLANT U-BOX PROTEIN 11(PUB11),an E3 ubiquitin ligase,negatively regulates abscisic acid(ABA)-mediated drought responses.PUB11 interacts with and ubiquitinates two receptor-like protein kinases,LEUCINE RICH REPEAT PROTEIN 1(LRR1)and KINASE 7(KIN7),and mediates their degradation during plant responses to drought stress in vitro and in vivo.pub11 mutants were more tolerant,whereas Irr1 and kin7 mutants were more sensitive,to drought stress than the wild type.Genetic analyses show that the pub11 Irr1 kin7 triple mutant exhibited similar drought sensitivity as the Irr1 kin7 double mutant,placing PUB11 upstream of the two RLKs.Abscisic acid and drought treatment promoted the accumulation of PUB11,which likely accelerates LRR1 and KIN7 degradation.Together,our results reveal that PUB11 negatively regulates plant responses to drought stress by destabilizing the LRR1 and KIN7 RLKs.Xuexue Chen Tingting Wang Amin Ur Rehman Yu Wang Junsheng Qi Zhen Li Chunpeng Song Baoshan Wang Shuhua Yang Zhizhong Gong 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,3:2

12Atmospheric correction of CBERS CCD images with MODIS data显示文摘China Brazil Earth Resource Satellite (CBERS) CCD images have much potential for inland water environmental monitoring. However, their atmospheric accuracy correction can affect their quantitative applications. This paper contains an atmospheric correction algorithm for CBERS CCD images with MODIS data from the same day, the use of which improves the atmospheric correction algorithm of ocean color remote sensing developed by Gordon (1993, 1994) and makes it applicable to inland waters. The improved algorithm retrieves atmospheric parameters from MODIS data and uses them to perform the atmospheric correction of CBERS CCD images. Experimental results show that the atmospheric correction algorithm of CBERS CCD images assisted by MODIS data is reliable. 15Cobalt tungsten phosphide with tunable W-doping as highly efficient electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction显示文摘It has been of interest in seeking electrocatalysts that could exercise equally high-efficient and durable hydrogen evolution upon nonselective electrolytes in both acidic and alkaline environments. Herein, we report a facile strategy to fabricate cobalt tungsten phosphides (CoxW2−xP2/C) hollow polyhedrons with tunable composition based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) template method. By the deliberate control of W doping, the synthesized catalyst with the composition of Co0.9W1.1P2/C is found to be able to achieve a current density of 10 mA·cm^(−2) at overpotentials of 35 and 54 mV in acidic and alkaline media, respectively. This combined electrochemical property stands atop the state-of-the-art electrocatalyst counterparts. 16BAK1 plays contrasting roles in regulating abscisic acid-induced stomatal closure and abscisic acid-inhibited primary root growth in Arabidopsis显示文摘The mechanisms that balance plant growth and stress responses are poorly understood, but they appear to involve abscisic acid(ABA) signaling mediated by protein kinases. Here, to explore these mechanisms, we examined the responses of Arabidopsis thaliana protein kinase mutants to ABA treatment. We found that mutants of BRASSINOSTEROID INSENSITIVE 1-ASSOCIATED RECEPTOR KINASE 1(BAK1) were hypersensitive to the effects of ABA on both seed germination and primary root growth. The kinase OPEN STOMATA 1(OST1) was more highly activated by ABA in bak1 mutant than the wild type. BAK1 was not activated by ABA treatment in the dominant negative mutant abi1-1 or the pyr1 pyl4 pyl5 pyl8 quadruple mutant, but it was more highly activated by this treatment in the abi1-2 abi2-2 hab1-1 loss-of-function triple mutant than the wild type. BAK1 phosphorylates OST1 T146 and inhibits its activity. Genetic analyses suggested that BAK1 acts at or upstream of core components in the ABA signaling pathway, including PYLs, PP2 Cs,and Sn RK2 s, during seed germination and primary root growth. Although the upstream brassinosteroid(BR) signaling components BAK1 and BR INSENSITIVE 1(BRI1) positively regulate ABAinduced stomatal closure, mutations affecting downstream components of BR signaling, including BRASSINOSTEROID-SIGNALING KINASEs(BSKs)and BRASSINOSTEROID-INSENSITIVE 2(BIN2), did not affect ABA-mediated stomatal movement.
