1Time correction of the ocean bottom seismometers deployed at the southwest Indian ridge using ambient noise cross-correlation显示文摘Seismic monitoring using ocean bottom seismometers(OBS) is an efficient method for investigating earthquakes in mid-ocean ridge far away from land. Clock synchronization among the OBSs is difficult without direct communication because electromagnetic signals cannot propagate efficiently in water. Time correction can be estimated through global positioning system(GPS) synchronization if clock drift is linear before and after the deployment. However, some OBSs in the experiments at the southwest Indian ridge(SWIR) on the Chinese DY125-34 cruise had not been re-synchronized from GPS after recovery. So we attempted to estimate clock drift between each station pairs using time symmetry analysis(TSA) based on ambient noise cross-correlation. We tested the feasibility of the TSA method by analyzing daily noise cross-correlation functions(NCFs) that extract from the data of another OBS experiment on the Chinese DY125-40 cruise with known clock drift and the same deployment site. The results suggest that the NCFs' travel time of surface wave between any two stations are symmetrical and have an opposite growing direction with the date. The influence of different band-pass filters,different components and different normalized methods was discussed. The TSA method appeared to be optimal for the hydrophone data within the period band of 2–5 s in dozens of km-scale interstation distances. A significant clock drift of ~2 s was estimated between OBSs sets through linear regression during a 108-d deployment on the Chinese cruise DY125-34. 2Classification of four distinct osteoarthritis subtypes with a knee joint tissue transcriptome atlas显示文摘The limited molecular classifications and disease signatures of osteoarthritis(OA)impede the development of prediagnosis and targeted therapeutics for OA patients.To classify and understand the subtypes of OA,we collected three types of tissue including cartilage,subchondral bone,and synovium from multiple clinical centers and constructed an extensive transcriptome atlas of OA patients.By applying unsupervised clustering analysis to the cartilage transcriptome,OA patients were classified into four subtypes with distinct molecular signatures:a glycosaminoglycan metabolic disorder subtype(C1),a collagen metabolic disorder subtype(C2),an activated sensory neuron subtype(C3),and an inflammation subtype(C4).Through ligand-receptor crosstalk analysis of the three knee tissue types,we linked molecular functions with the clinical symptoms of different OA subtypes.For example,the Gene Ontology functional term of vasculature development was enriched in the subchondral bone-cartilage crosstalk of C2 and the cartilage-subchondral bone crosstalk of C4,which might lead to severe osteophytes in C2 patients and apparent joint space narrowing in C4 patients.Based on the marker genes of the four OA subtypes identified in this study,we modeled OA subtypes with two independent published RNA-seq datasets through random forest classification.The findings of this work contradicted traditional OA diagnosis by medical imaging and revealed distinct molecular subtypes in knee OA patients,which may allow for precise diagnosis and treatment of OA.Chunhui Yuan Zongyou Pan Kun Zhao Jun Li Zixuan Sheng Xudong Yao Hua Liu Xiaolei Zhang Yang Yang Dongsheng Yu Yu Zhang Yuzi Xu Zhi-Yong Zhang Tianlong Huang Wanlu Liu Hongwei Ouyang 2020Bone Research2020,8,4:4
3Automatic segmentation of foveal avascular zone based on adaptive watershed algorithm in retinal optical coherence tomography angiography images显示文摘The size and shape of the foveal avascular zone(FAZ)have a strong positive correlation with several vision-threatening ret inovascular diseases.The identification,segmentation and analysis of FAZ are of great significance to clinical diagnosis and treatment.We presented an adaptive watershed algorithm to automatically extract F AZ from retinal optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)images.For the traditional watershed algorithm,'over-segmentation'is the most common problem.FAZ is often incorrectly divided into multiple regions by redundant'dams'.This paper analyzed the relationship between the'dams'length and the maximum inscribed circle radius of FAZ,and proposed an adaptive watershed algorithm to solve the problem of'over-segmentation'.Here,132 healthy retinal images and 50 diabetic retinopathy(DR)images were used to verify the accuracy and stability of the algorithm.Three ophthal-mologists were invited to make quan titative and qualitative evaluations on the segmentation results of this algorithm.The quantitative evaluation results show that the correlation coffi-cients between the automatic and manual segmentation results are 0.945(in healthy subjects)and 0.927(in DR patients),respectively.For qualitative evaluation,the percentages of'perfect segmentation'(score of 3)and'good segmentation'(score of 2)are 99.4%(in healthy subjects)and 98.7%(in DR patients),respectively.This work promotes the application of watershed algorithm in FAZ segmentation,making it a useful tool for analyzing and diagnosing eye diseases.Jian Liu Shixin Yan Nan Lu Dongni Yang Chunhui Fan Hongyu Lv Shuanglian Wang in Zhu Yuqian Zhao Yi Wang Zhenhe Ma Yao Yu 2022Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2022,15,1:3

7Co-Production of High-Grade Dissolving Pulp,Furfural,and Lignin from Eucalyptus via Extremely Low Acid Pretreatment and Pulping Technologies and Catalysis显示文摘Hemicellulose and lignin are not reasonably utilized during the dissolved pulp preparation process.This work aimed to propose a process for the co-production of dissolving pulp,furfural,and lignin from eucalyptus.High-grade dissolving pulp was prepared from eucalyptus using a combination of extremely low acid(ELA)pretreatment,Kraft cooking,and elementary chlorine-free(ECF)bleaching.The obtained pre-hydrolysate was catalytic conversion into furfural in a biphasic system,and lignin during Kraft cooking and ECF was recovered.The process condition was discussed as well as the mass flow direction.The results showed that ELA pretreatment could effectively remove 80.1%hemicellulose.Compared with traditional hydrothermal pretreatment,the ELA pretreatment significantly increased the xylose yield from 5.05 to 14.18 g/L at 170℃ for 2 h,which had practical significance for furfural production.The 82.7%furfural yield and 82.9%furfural selectivity were obtained from xylose-rich pre-hydrolysate using NaCl as a phase modifier in a biphasic system with 4-methyl-2-pentanone(MIBK)as an organic phase by ion exchange resin catalysts at 190℃ for 2 h.Subsequently,the pretreated eucalyptus was subjected to Kraft cooking,and the optimal alkali amount was 14%.Then,the Kraft pulp was bleached using the O-D1-EP-D_(2) sequence,and dissolving pulp was obtained with an ISO brightness of 86.0%,viscosity of 463 mL/g,andα-cellulose content of 95.4%.The Kraft lignin which has a potential application was investigated by 2D-HSQC NMR and 31P NMR.The results showed that the S/G ratio of Kraft lignin was 1.93,and the content of phenolic hydroxyl groups was 2.53 mmol/g.Moreover,based on the above proposed process,30.5 g dissolving pulp,5.5 g furfural,and 21.2 g lignin per 100 g eucalyptus chips(oven dry)were produced.This research will provide new catalysis and pulping technical routes for dissolving pulp,furfural,and Kraft lignin products,which are in great demand in the chemical industry.Chengxiang Li Yue Wu Chunhui Zhang Yao Liu Qixuan Lin Junli Ren 2023Journal of Renewable Materials2023,11,6:1

14Synthesis, structure and catalytic behavior of yttrium complexes bearing a diaminobis(phenolate) ligand显示文摘Yttrium complexes stabilized by a diaminobis(phenolate) ligand were synthesized and their catalytic behavior was explored. Reaction of YCl3 with 1 equiv of LNa2 [L= Me2NCH2CH2N{CH2-(2-O-C6H2-tBu2-3, 5)}2] gave the yttrium chloride LYCl(THF) (1) in 92% yield. Complex 1 can be used as starting material to prepare the yttrium amido derivative. Complex 1 reacted with 1 equiv of LiNPh2 in THF to afford the expected yttrium amido complex LYNPh2 (2) in high yield. Both of complexes 1 and 2 have been well detected by elemental analysis, NMR spectra and single-crystal X-ray analysis. 17Bridging the gap between resonance and adiabaticity:a compact and highly tolerant vertical coupling structure显示文摘We present a compact,highly tolerant vertical coupling structure,which can be a generic design that bridges the gap between conventional resonant couplers and adiabatic couplers for heterogeneously integrated devices.We show insights on relaxing the coupler alignment tolerance and provide a detailed design methodology.By the use of a multisegmented inverse taper structure,our design allows a certain proportion of the odd supermode to be excited during the coupling process,which simultaneously facilitates high tolerance and compactness.With a total length of 87μm,our coupler is almost threefold shorter than the state-of-the-art alignment-tolerant adiabatic couplers and outperforms them by demonstrating a more than 94%coupling efficiency(for<0.3 d B coupling loss)with±1μm misalignment tolerance,which,to our best knowledge,is a new record for III-V-on-silicon vertical couplers.Furthermore,our design has high tolerance to fabrication-induced structural deformation and ultrabroad bandwidth.These features make it particularly suitable for building densely integrated III-V-onsilicon photonic circuits with commercially available microtransfer printing assembly tools.The proposed design can be widely adopted in various integration platforms.CHUNHUI YAO QIXIANG CHENG GüNTHER ROELKENS RICHARD PENTY 2022Photonics Research2022,10,9:0
18Broadband picometer-scale resolution on-chip spectrometer with reconfigurable photonics显示文摘Miniaturization of optical spectrometers is important to enable spectroscopic analysis to play a role in in situ,or even in vitro and in vivo characterization systems.However,scaled-down spectrometers generally exhibit a strong trade-off between spectral resolution and operating bandwidth,and are often engineered to identify signature spectral peaks only for specific applications.In this paper,we propose and demonstrate a novel global sampling strategy with distributed filters for generating ultra-broadband pseudo-random spectral responses.The geometry of all-pass ring filters is tailored to ensure small self-and cross-correlation for effective information acquisition across the whole spectrum,which dramatically reduces the requirement on sampling channels.We employ the power of reconfigurable photonics in spectrum shaping by embedding the engineered distributed filters.Using a moderate mesh of MZls,we create 256 diverse spectral responses on a single chip and demonstrate a resolution of 20 pm for single spectral lines and 30 pm for dual spectral lines over a broad bandwidth of 115 nm,to the best of our knowledge achieving a new record of bandwidth-to-resolution ratio.Rigorous simulations reveal that this design will readily be able to achieve single-picometer-scale resolution.We further show that the reconfigurable photonics provides an extra degree of programmability,enabling user-defined features on resolution,computation complexity,and relative error.The use of SiN integration platform enables the spectrometer to exhibit excellent thermal stability of±2.0℃,effectively tackling the challenge of temperature variations at picometer-scale resolutions.Chunhui Yao Minja Chen Ting Yan Liang Ming Qixiang Cheng Richard Penty 2023Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,7:0
19Preventive and therapeutic benefits of nelfinavir in rhesus macaques and human beings infected with SARS-CoV-2显示文摘Effective drugs with broad spectrum safety profile to all people are highly expected to combat COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2.Here we report that nelfinavir,an FDA approved drug for the treatment of HIV infection,is effective against SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19.Preincubation of nelfinavir could inhibit the activity of the main protease of the SARS-CoV-2(IC50=8.26μM),while its antiviral activity in Vero E6 cells against a clinical isolate of SARS-CoV-2 was determined to be 2.93μM(EC50).In comparison with vehicle-treated animals,rhesus macaque prophylactically treated with nelfinavir had significantly lower temperature and significantly reduced virus loads in the nasal and anal swabs of the animals.At necropsy,nelfinavir-treated animals had a significant reduction of the viral replication in the lungs by nearly three orders of magnitude.A prospective clinic study with 37 enrolled treatment-naive patients at Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center,which were randomized(1:1)to nelfinavir and control groups,showed that the nelfinavir treatment could shorten the duration of viral shedding by 5.5 days(9.0 vs.14.5 days,P=0.055)and the duration of fever time by 3.8 days(2.8 vs.6.6 days,P=0.014)in mild/moderate COVID-19 patients.The antiviral efficiency and clinical benefits in rhesus macaque model and in COVID-19 patients,together with its well-established good safety profile in almost all ages and during pregnancy,indicated that nelfinavir is a highly promising medication with the potential of preventative effect for the treatment of COVID-19.Zhijian Xu Danrong Shi Jian-Bao Han Yun Ling Xiangrui Jiang Xiangyun Lu Chuan Li Likun Gong Guangbo Ge Yani Zhang Yi Zang Tian-Zhang Song Xiao-Li Feng Ren-Rong Tian Jia Ji Miaojin Zhu Nanping Wu Chunhui Wu Zhen Wang Yechun Xu Cheng Peng Min Zheng Junling Yang Feifei Du Junliang Wu Peipei Wang Jingshan Shen Jianliang Zhang Yong-Tang Zheng Hangping Yao Weiliang Zhu 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,5:0
