| 2 | Optical coherence tomography angiography of the peripapillary region and macula in normal,primary open angle glaucoma,pseudoexfoliation glaucoma and ocular hypertension eyes显示文摘AIM:To evaluate and compare the peripapillary and retinal vasculature changes in primary open angle glaucoma(POAG),pseudoexfoliation glaucoma(PXG),ocular hypertension(OHT)and normal eyes using optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA).METHODS:A total of 114 POAG,PXG and OHT eyes of 60 patients and 46 eyes of 23 healthy control participants with good quality OCTA images were included.The PXG,POAG,OHT,and control groups(aged 68.17±6.30 y,61.11±10.26 y,58.1±8.9 y,and 56.9±4.6 y,respectively)contained of 46,36,32,and 46 eyes,respectively.Measurements of vessel density(VD)in the peripapillary region and macula,average retinal inner thickness,and retinal nerve fiber layer thickness(RNFLT)were compared among groups.In order to test the accuracy of differentiation between eyes with and without glaucoma,the area was calculated under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves.RESULTS:The VD in glaucomatous eyes was significantly lower than the control group in all peripapillary sectors(44.35%±6.78%vs 50.47%±1.83%,P<0.001),the superficial(44.08%±5.46%vs 51.28%±2.85%,P<0.001)and the deep(45.13%±8.55%vs 54.20%±5.44%,P<0.001)vascular plexus.There was a significant difference in peripapillary VD between glaucomatous and OHT eyes(44.35%±6.78%vs 49.86%±2.45%,P<0.001).The OHT group featured a lower superficial(48.06%±4.32%vs 51.28%±2.85%,P=0.027)and deep plexus(48.70%±5.99%vs 54.20%±5.44%,P=0.013)whole image vessel density(wiVD)than did the control group.The average macular superficial plexus wiVD was significantly lower in eyes with PXG than in eyes with POAG(42.22%±5.36%vs 46.54%±5.56%,P=0.046).CONCLUSION:OCTA can measure reduced peripapillary and macular VD in eyes with glaucoma and OHT,and these results are correlated to functional and structural glaucomatous alterations.Peripapillary and macular superficial plexus VD is lower in eyes with PXG than in eyes with POAG.Furthermore,the OHT eyes demonstrate impaired macular vasculature in both superficial and deep plexus. | Helin Ceren Kose Oya Tekeli | 2020 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2020，13，5： | 3 |

| 4 | Effect of intracorneal ring segment implantation on corneal asphericity显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the visual, refractive and corneal asphericity changes after intrastromal corneal ring segment(ICRS) implantation for visual rehabilitation of keratoconus.METHODS: A total of 42 eyes of 32 patients were included. After creation of intrastromal tunnels of 5.01±0.03 mm inner diameter, 5.71±0.03 mm outer diameter and at 384.21±34.12 μm depth, 1 or 2 ICRS of 150-300 μm thickness and 90°-210° arc length were implanted. Changes in uncorrected distance visual acuity(UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity(CDVA), refractive errors, mean simulated keratometry readings SimK_(avg), anterior and posterior corneal asphericity values(Q_(ant) and Q_(post), respectively) measured with Scheimpflug topography were evaluated retrospectively. RESULTS: There was a significant improvement in UDVA and CDVA, along with a significant decrease in refractive spherical equivalent(SE), cylinder and SimK_(avg) postoperatively(P<0.001 for all). Mean Qant increased from-1.06±0.48 to-0.57±0.58 postoperatively(P<0.001). Change in mean Qpost was insignificant(P=0.92). Postoperative changes in UDVA and CDVA were not correlated with the postoperative changes in SE and cylinder(P>0.05 for all); but were correlated with the preoperative SimK_(avg) and Q_(ant) values(P<0.001 for all). | 5 | Effect of sodium tungstate on visual evoked potentials in diabetic rats显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the effect of sodium tungstate on visual evoked potentials(VEPs) in diabetic rats.· METHODS: Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups as normal control, diabetic control and diabetic rats treated with sodium tungstate. Diabetes was induced by single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin(50 mg/kg). Sodium tungstate [40 mg/(kg·d)]was administered for 12 wk and then VEPs were recorded.Additionally, thiobarbituric acid reactive substance(TBARS) levels were measured in brain tissues.·RESULTS: The latencies of P1, N1, P2, N2 and P3 waves were significantly prolonged in diabetic rats compared with control group. Diabetes mellitus caused an increase in the lipid peroxidation process that was accompanied by changes in VEPs. However, prolonged latencies of VEPs for all components returned to control levels in sodium tungstate-treated group.
