1Arsenic hyperaccumulator Pteris Vittata L. and its arsenic accumulation显示文摘An arsenic hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata L. (Chinese brake) was first discovered in China by means of field survey and greenhouse cultivation. Field survey showed that Chinese brake had large accumulating capacity to arsenic; the orders of arsenic content in different parts of the fern were as follows: leaves>leafstalks>roots, which is totally different from that of ordinary plants; bioaccumulation coefficients of the above ground parts of the fern decreased as a power function of soil arsenic contents. In the control of pot trials with normal unpolluted soil containing 9mg/kg of arsenic, the bioaccumulation coefficients of the above ground parts and rhizoids of Chinese brake were as high as 71 and 80 respectively. Greenhouse cultivation in the contaminated soil from mining areas has shown that more than 1 times greater arsenic can be accumulated in the leaves of the fern than that of field samples with the largest content of 5070 mg/kg As on a dry matter basis. 2Characterizing spatial distribution and sources of heavy metals in the soils from mining-smelting activities in Shuikoushan,Hunan Province,China显示文摘The spatial variation of heavy metals in the soils in Shuikoushan mining-smelting area,Hunan Province,China,was investigated using multivariate and geo-statistic analysis.A total of 106 composite soil samples were collected in an area of about 100 km2. Concentrations of total As,Cd,Pb,Zn,Cu and Cr were measured using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS) . Arsenic and Pb were found to have a common source,indicating the same sources and spreading processes,such as aerosols and airborne particulates from smelting chimneys.Airborne sources from smelting chimneys contributed greatly to Cd in the area,which demonstrated the same dispersion pattern as As and Pb.However,two hot spots of Cd around smelters were possibly enlarged by wastewaters,demonstrating another important source of Cd in Shuikouhsan.Geo-statistic interpolated mapping demonstrated that hotspots of Zn were only found proximal to the large smelters,suggesting that Zn primarily came from the chimneys of larger smelters. The major Cu hot-spots appeared closely to the tailing dam,indicating that weathering and leaching of tailings were the major sources of Cu contamination in Shuikoushan.Our findings indicated that airborne volatile particles and aerosols contributed the most to As,Cd,Pb,Zn and Cu contamination,while Cd and Cu may also derive from the discharge of wastewater from smelters and the leaching of tailings,respectively.WEI Chaoyang WANG Cheng YANG Linsheng 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,9:48
3Effect of phosphorus on arsenic accumulation in As-hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata L. and its implication显示文摘Pot experiment was conducted to understand the effect of phosphorus on arsenic accumulation in As-hyperaccumulator Chinese brake (Pteris vittata L.). It is shown that arsenic concentrations in the fronds and rhizoids, the arsenic bioaccumulation factor, and the total arsenic in the fronds were not influenced significantly under low levels of phosphorus (≤400 mg/kg) and increased sharply under high levels of phosphorus (>400 mg/ kg). The discovery implies that the efficiency of arsenic removal in phytoremedia-tion using the hyperaccumulating plant can be greatly elevated by the phosphorus addition at high rates. The interaction between the accumulation of phosphorus and that of arsenic in plant was stimulated mutually. The result represents that Chinese brake is a good material for plant physiologist to conduct comparative and mechanism studies on the uptake behaviors of phosphorus and arsenic, and phosphorus is also a potential accelerator for phytoremediation of arsenic-contaminated soils.Tongbin Chen Zhilian Fan Mei Lei Zechun Huang Chaoyang Wei 2002Chinese Science Bulletin2002,47,22:35
4Hepatitis C Virus Infection Downregulates the Ligands of the Activating Receptor NKG2D显示文摘Natural killer (NK) cells are a major component of the host innate immune defense against various pathogens. Several viruses, including hepatitis C virus (HCV), have developed strategies to evade the NK-cell response. In our study, we found HCV infection could trigger DNA damage response by both ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM) and ATM- and Rad3-related (ATR) pathways. Recent reports had revealed that NKG2D ligands (NK cell-activating ligands) were upregulated when a major DNA damage checkpoint pathway was activated. However, here we found that DNA damage response was activated but NKG2D ligands were downregulated upon HCV infection. Further studies showed that the protease NS3/4A of HCV which had been shown relation with immune invasion contributed to the reduced expression of NKG2D ligands. 5A theoretical framework for quantum image representation and data loading scheme显示文摘Two fundamental problems exist in the use of quantum computation to process an image or signal.The first one is how to represent giant data,such as image data,using quantum state without losing information.The second one is how to load a colossal volume of data into the quantum registers of a quantum CPU from classical electronic memory.Researches on these two questions are rarely reported.Here an entangled state is used to represent an image(or vector)for which two entangled registers are used to store a vector component and its classical address.Using the representation,n1+n2+8 qubits are used to store the whole information of the gray image that has a 2n1×2n2 size at a superposition of states,a feat is not possible with a classic computer.The way of designing a unitary operation to load data,such as a vector(or image),into the quantum registers of a quantum CPU from electronic memory is defined herein as a quantum loading scheme(QLS).In this paper,the QLS with time complexity O(log2N)is presented where N denotes the number of vector components,a solution that would break through the efciency bottleneck of loading data.QLS would enable a quantum CPU to be compatible with electronic memory and make possible quantum image compression and quantum signal processing that has classical input and output.HU BenQiong HUANG XuDong ZHOU RiGui WEI YanYu WAN Qun PANG ChaoYang 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,3:5

18Moment-independence global sensitivity analysis for the system with fuzzy failure state and its Kriging method显示文摘For the system with the fuzzy failure state, the effects of the input random variables and the fuzzy failure state on the fuzzy probability of failure for the structural system are studied, and the moment-independence global sensitivity analysis(GSA) model is proposed to quantitatively measure these effects. According to the fuzzy random theory, the fuzzy failure state is transformed into an equivalent new random variable for the system, and the complementary function of the membership function of the fuzzy failure state is defined as the cumulative distribution function(CDF) of the new random variable. After introducing the new random variable, the equivalent performance function of the original problem is built. The difference between the unconditional fuzzy probability of failure and conditional fuzzy probability of failure is defined as the moment-independent GSA index. In order to solve the proposed GSA index efficiently, the Kriging-based algorithm is developed to estimate the defined moment-independence GSA index. 20Transceiver Optimization for Multi-Antenna Device-to-Device Communications显示文摘It has been shown that the deployment of device-to-device(D2D) communication in cellular systems can provide better support for local services. However, improper design of the hybrid system may cause severe interference between cellular and D2D links. In this paper, we consider transceiver design for the system employing multiple antennas to mitigate the interference. The precoder and decoder matrices are optimized in terms of sum mean squared error(MSE) and capacity, respectively. For the MSE minimization problem, we present an alternative transceiver optimization algorithm. While for the non-convex capacity maximization problem, we decompose the primal problem into a sequence of standard convex quadratic programs for efficient optimization.
