| 1 | AXL is a candidate receptor for SARS-CoV-2 that promotes infection of pulmonary and bronchial epithelial cells显示文摘The current coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic presents a global public health challenge.The viral pathogen responsible,severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),binds to the host receptor ACE2 through its spike(S)glycoprotein,which mediates membrane fusion and viral entry.Although the role of ACE2 as a receptor for SARS-CoV-2 is clear,studies have shown that ACE2 expression is extremely low in various human tissues,especially in the respiratory tract.Thus,other host receptors and/or co-receptors that promote the entry of SARS-CoV-2 into cells of the respiratory system may exist.In this study,we found that the tyrosine-protein kinase receptor UFO(AXL)specifically interacts with the N-terminal domain of SARS-CoV-2 S.Using both a SARS-CoV-2 virus pseudotype and authentic SARS-CoV-2,we found that overexpression of AXL in HEK293T cells promotes SARS-CoV-2 entry as efficiently as overexpression of ACE2,while knocking out AXL significantly reduces SARS-CoV-2 infection in HI 299 pulmonary cells and in human primary lung epithelial cells.Soluble human recombinant AXL blocks SARS-CoV-2 infection in cells expressing high levels of AXL.The AXL expression level is well correlated with SARS-CoV-2 S level in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells from COVID-19 patients.Taken together,our findings suggest that AXL is a novel candidate receptor for SARS-CoV-2 which may play an important role in promoting viral infection of the human respiratory system and indicate that it is a potential target for future clinical intervention strategies. | Shuai Wang Zongyang Qiu Yingnan Hou Xiya Deng Wei Xu Tingting Zheng Peihan Wu Shaofang Xie Weixiang Bian Chong Zhang Zewei Sun Kunpeng Liu Chao Shan Aifu Lin Shibo Jiang Youhua Xie Qiang Zhou Lu Lu Jing Huang Xu Li | 2021 | Cell Research2021,31,2: | 39 |
| 2 | A Possible Dynamic Mechanism for Rapid Production of the Extreme Hourly Rainfall in Zhengzhou City on 20 July 2021显示文摘In this study,the unprecedented extreme rainfall event during 19-20 July 2021,which caused devastating flooding in Zhengzhou City and its nearby areas,is examined based on observational data analysis and WRF model 40-h simulations on 1-km horizontal resolution.The results show that the model successfully reproduces(i)major synopticscale weather systems(i.e.,the western Pacific subtropical high,the Tibetan high,two typhoons,and the Huang-Huai cyclone),(ii)convective initiation along the east to north edge of the Songshan Mountain,where orographic lifting is obvious,and(iii)subsequent formation of the convective storm producing the extreme rainfall in Zhengzhou.In particular,the model generates the maximum rainfall rate of 233 mm h^(-1)and 40-h accumulated rainfall of 704 mm,corresponding well to the observed extreme values of 201.9 mm h^(-1)and 818 mm,at nearly observed timing and location.Importantly,the model reproduces an intense quasi-stationary,well-organized meso-γ-scale convective system,surrounded by an arc-shaped convergence zone,allowing the development of convective updrafts in a three-quarter circle around the convective system,in a way similar to“multidirectional pumping,”attracting all associated precipitation overlaid and concentrated into the same trailing region to generate the extreme hourly rainfall over Zhengzhou.Our study emphasizes the significant contribution of the unique dynamic structure of the well-organized meso-γ-scale convective system to the record-high hourly rainfall.A possible dynamic mechanism for short-time extreme rainfall production is proposed.That is,the arc-shaped convergence zone of the mesoscale convective system,acting like multidirectional lifting pumps,transports precipitation from different directions into the same region,and thus produces the extreme rainfall.The results gained herein may shed new light on better understanding and forecasting of short-time extreme rainfall. | Jinfang YIN Haodong GU Xudong LIANG Miao YU Jisong SUN Yanxin XIE Feng LI Chong WU | 2022 | Journal of Meteorological Research2022,36,1: | 17 |

| 7 | Status and development of high-power laser facilities at the NLHPLP显示文摘In this paper, we review the status of the multifunctional experimental platform at the National Laboratory of High Power Laser and Physics(NLHPLP). The platform, including the SG-II laser facility, SG-II 9th beam, SG-II upgrade(SG-II UP) facility, and SG-II 5 PW facility, is operational and available for interested scientists studying inertial confinement fusion(ICF) and a broad range of high-energy-density physics. These facilities can provide important experimental capabilities by combining different pulse widths of nanosecond, picosecond, and femtosecond scales. In addition, the SG-II UP facility, consisting of a single petawatt system and an eight-beam nanosecond system, is introduced including several laser technologies that have been developed to ensure the performance of the facility. | 8 | Single atom accelerates ammonia photosynthesis显示文摘Atomically dispersed metal has gained much attention because of the new opportunities they offer in catalysis. However, it is still crucial to understand the mechanism of single-atom catalysis at molecular level for expanding them to other more difficult catalytic reactions, such as ammonia synthesis from nitrogen. In fact, developing ammonia synthesis under ambient conditions to overcome the high energy consumption in well-established Haber-Bosch process has fascinated scientists for many years.Herein, we demonstrate that single Cu atom yields facile valence-electron isolation from the conjugated π electron cloud of p-CN. Electron spin resonance measurements reveal that these isolated valence electrons can be easily excited to generate free electrons under photo-illumination, thus inducing high efficient photo-induced ammonia synthesis under ambient conditions.The NH_3 producing rate of copper modified carbon nitride(Cu-CN) reached 186 μmol g^(-1) h^(-1) under visible light irradiation with the quantum efficiency achieved 1.01% at 420 nm monochromatic light. This finding surely offers a model to open up a new vista for the ammonia synthesis at gentle conditions. | 16 | Burn image segmentation based on Mask Regions with Convolutional Neural Network deep learning framework:more accurate and more convenient显示文摘Background:Burns are life-threatening with high morbidity and mortality.Reliable diagnosis supported by accurate burn area and depth assessment is critical to the success of the treatment decision and,in some cases,can save the patient’s life.Current techniques such as straight-ruler method,aseptic film trimming method,and digital camera photography method are not repeatable and comparable,which lead to a great difference in the judgment of burn wounds and impede the establishment of the same evaluation criteria.Hence,in order to semi-automate the burn diagnosis process,reduce the impact of human error,and improve the accuracy of burn diagnosis,we include the deep learning technology into the diagnosis of burns.Method:This article proposes a novel method employing a state-of-the-art deep learning technique to segment the burn wounds in the images.We designed this deep learning segmentation framework based on the Mask Regions with Convolutional Neural Network(Mask R-CNN).For training our framework,we labeled 1150 pictures with the format of the Common Objects in Context(COCO)data set and trained our model on 1000 pictures.In the evaluation,we compared the different backbone networks in our framework.These backbone networks are Residual Network-101 with Atrous Convolution in Feature Pyramid Network(R101FA),Residual Network-101 with Atrous Convolution(R101A),and InceptionV2-Residual Network with Atrous Convolution(IV2RA).Finally,we used the Dice coefficient(DC)value to assess the model accuracy.Result:The R101FA backbone network gains the highest accuracy 84.51%in 150 pictures.Moreover,we chose different burn depth pictures to evaluate these three backbone networks.The R101FA backbone network gains the best segmentation effect in superficial,superficial thickness,and deep partial thickness.The R101A backbone network gains the best segmentation effect in full-thickness burn.Conclusion:This deep learning framework shows excellent segmentation in burn wound and extremely robust in different burn wound depths.Moreover,this framework just needs a suitable burn wound image when analyzing the burn wound.It is more convenient and more suitable when using in clinics compared with the traditional methods.And it also contributes more to the calculation of total body surface area(TBSA)burned. | Chong Jiao Kehua Su Weiguo Xie Ziqing Ye | 2019 | Burns & Trauma2019,7,1: | 4 |
| 17 | A New Material of Lindera (Lauraceae) of the Late Pliocene from Tengchong, Yunnan and the Genus' Biogeography Significance显示文摘Lindera is a large genus of graceful, pleasantly scented and common native trees and shrubs of southern China and neighboring regions of SE Asia. There is a well-documented Cenozoic fossil record not only in these regions but also from elsewhere. A new fossil leaf record has been found in diatomite beds from the Upper Pliocene Mangbang Formation of Tuantian, Tengchong County, Yunnan. The leaves are identified and assigned to Lindera acuminatissima K. Q. Dao et B. N. Sun sp. nov., by comparing their leaf architecture and epidermal characteristics with those of 51 extant Lauraceae species and with 15 known fossil Lindera taxa. The specimens have well-preserved cuticles, with typical leaf architecture and epidermal characteristics of the Lauraceae, including entire leaf margin, intramarginal veins, basal ternate acrodromous primary veins, one-cell trichome base, paracytic stomatal apparatus, sunken guard cells, subsidiary hardly staining cells and presence of oil cells. These characteristics are consistent with Lindera sect. Daphnidium but are different from reported fossil and extant species of Lindera. The cuticles of Lindera are fragile and delicate with only three Lindera fossils reported based on this tissue. In terms of paleobiogeography, the fossil record indicates that Lindera is distributed in high- to mid-latitude regions of the Late Cretaceous to Paleocene northern hemisphere. Coincidentally, the records of Lindera located on both sides of the Bering Land Bridge possibly support the hypothesis that ancient plants extended via transcontinental exchanges through the Bering Corridor. In the Eocene, ancient Lindera spread to Europe through the Northern Degeer Route and the Southern Thulian Route. At the same time, ancient Lindera spread into Central Asia. Climatic changes and tectonization since the Neogene prevented the propagation of Lindera throughout Asia, North America and Europe, and hence the distribution areas have just regressed to the low-latitude regions in Asia and North America. From the Paleogene to the Neogene, Lindera has changed its distribution by surviving extreme climate changes. Quaternary glaciations ultimately led to Lindera becoming extinct in Europe. | 20 | Cellulose nanofiber separator for suppressing shuttle effect and Li dendrite formation in lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘Lithium-sulfur battery(LSB) has high energy density but is limited by the polysulfides shuttle and dendrite growth during cycling. Herein, a free-standing cellulose nanofiber(CNF) separator is designed and fabricated in isopropanol/water suspension through vacuum filtration progress. CNFs with abundant polar oxygen-containing functional groups can chemically immobilize the polysulfides, and suppress the formation of the dendrites by controlling the surface morphology of the SEI on lithium metal in LSB. The isopropanol content in a suspension can fine-tune the pore structure of the membrane to achieve optimal electrochemical performance. The prepared separator displays integrated advantages of an ultrathin thickness(19 μm), lightweight(0.87 mg cm^(-2)), extremely high porosity(98.05%), and decent electrolyte affinity. As a result, the discharge capacity of the LSB with CNF separator at the first and 100 th cycle is 1.4 and 1.3 times that of PP separator, respectively.
