| 1 | Effects of vegetation height and density on soil temperature variations显示文摘Reduction in vegetation cover caused by human activities has a great impact on soil temperature. It is important to assess how soil temperature responds to reduction of vegetation height and density. In this paper we first report the trends of mean annual soil surface and air temperatures recorded at the meteorological stations near the Ecological Research Station for Grassland Farming (ERSGF) from 1961 to 2007, then we setup an experiment using reed (Phragmites australis) stalks with different heights and densities to simulate effects of different vegetation height and density on soil and air temperatures. The warming rates of the mean annual soil and air temperatures were 0.043 and 0.041C a 1 , respectively. Changes of soil temperature were characterized by both increased mean annual maximum and minimum soil temperatures. At the experimental site, mean daily temperature, mean daily maximum soil and air temperatures increased significantly. In contrast, mean daily minimum soil temperature increased significantly while mean daily minimum air temperature decreased significantly as the height and density of reed stalks reduced during the experimental period. Mean diurnal soil temperature ranges were smaller than mean diurnal air temperature ranges. | 2 | Effects of fencing on vegetation and soil restoration in a degraded alkaline grassland in northeast China显示文摘In order to restore a degraded alkaline grassland, the local government implemented a large restoration project using fences in Changling county, Jilin province, China, in 2000. Grazing was excluded from the protected area, whereas the grazed area was continuously grazed at 8.5 dry sheep equivalent(DSE)/hm2. In the current research, soil and plant samples were taken from grazed and fenced areas to examine changes in vegetation and soil properties in 2005, 2006 and 2008. Results showed that vegetation characteristics and soil properties improved significantly in the fenced area compared with the grazed area. In the protected area the vegetation cover, height and above- and belowground biomass increased significantly. Soil pH, electrical conductivity and bulk density decreased significantly, but soil organic carbon and total nitrogen concentration increased greatly in the protected area. By comparing the vegetation and soil characteristics with pre-degraded grassland, we found that vegetation can recover 6 years after fencing, and soil pH can be restored 8 years after fencing. However, the restoration of soil organic carbon, total nitrogen and total phosphorus concentrations needed 16, 30 and 19 years, respectively. It is recommended that the stocking rate should be reduced to 1/3 of the current carrying capacity, or that a grazing regime of 1-year of grazing followed by a 2-year rest is adopted to sustain the current status of vegetation and soil resources. | 3 | Conceptual study of lunar-based SAR for global change monitoring显示文摘As an active microwave remote sensing imaging sensor, Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) plays an important role in earth observation. Here we establish a SAR system based on the platform of the moon. This will aid large-scale, constant, and long-term dynamic Earth observations to better meet the needs of global change research and to complement the space borne and airborne earth observations. Lunar-based SAR systems have the characteristics of high resolution and wide swath width. The swath width could be thousands of kilometers in the stripe mode and it could cover 40% of earth's surface with 10 meters or even higher spatial resolution in the scanning mode. Using the simplified observation model, here we quantitatively analyze the spatial resolution and coverage area of lunar-based SAR and simulate the observation on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau and the Amazon plain. The results show that this system could provide near 100% daily coverage of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, whereas 40% to 70% daily coverage of the Amazon plain. | 4 | Regulation of FN1 degradation by the p62/SQSTM1-dependent autophagy-lysosome pathway in HNSCC显示文摘Epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT)is involved in both physiological and pathological processes.EMT plays an essential role in the invasion,migration and metastasis of tumours.Autophagy has been shown to regulate EMT in a variety of cancers but not in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC).Herein,we investigated whether autophagy also regulates EMT in HNSCC.Analyses of clinical data from three public databases revealed that higher expression of fibronectin-1(FN1)correlated with poorer prognosis and higher tumour pathological grade in HNSCC.Data from SCC-25 cells demonstrated that rapamycin and Earle’s balanced salt solution(EBSS)promoted autophagy,leading to increased FN1 degradation,while 3-methyladenine(3-MA),bafilomycin A1(Baf A1)and chloroquine(CQ)inhibited autophagy,leading to decreased FN1 degradation.On the other hand,autophagic flux was blocked in BECN1 mutant HNSCC Cal-27 cells,and rapamycin did not promote autophagy in Cal-27 cells;also in addition,FN1 degradation was inhibited.Further,we identified FN1 degradation through the lysosome-dependent degradation pathway using the proteasome inhibitor MG132.Data from immunoprecipitation assays also showed that p62/SQSTM1 participated as an autophagy adapter in the autophagy–lysosome pathway of FN1 degradation.Finally,data from immunoprecipitation assays demonstrated that the interaction between p62 and FN1 was abolished in p62 mutant MCF-7 and A2780 cell lines.These results indicate that autophagy significantly promotes the degradation of FN1.Collectively,our findings clearly suggest that FN1,as a marker of EMT,has adverse effects on HNSCC and elucidate the autophagy–lysosome degradation mechanism of FN1. | Xinchen Liu Lin Meng Xing Li Daowei Li Qilin Liu Yumeng Chen Xiangwei Li Wenhuan Bu Hongchen Sun | 2020 | International Journal of Oral Science2020,12,4: | 7 |
| 5 | Evolution and Spatial Patterns of Spheres of Urban Influence in China显示文摘This article presents the findings of a study of the spheres of urban influence with regard to all cities in China(not including Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan Province of China)in the years 1990,2000 and 2009.An optimized gravity model with comprehensive time distance was used to carry out a detailed analysis of the spatial patterns of Chinese spheres of urban influence and the spatial characteristics of urban agglomerations.Such urban agglomerations are characterized by high density population and a developed economy,which are also considered as the national competition unit.This paper initially identifies four spatial patterns of urban agglomerations based on the spatial layout of city groups during their evolution.Some basic characteristics of urban agglomerations are outlined,including the number of cities,the size of cities and the functions of urban centers.These characteristics are examined by using statistical methods and Geographic Information System(GIS).The main findings from this research are that the development stages and structures of urban agglomerations in China vary significantly.It is also clear that the stages and evolution of spatial patterns are strongly affected and dominated by both policy and location factors. | WANG Kaiyong DENG Yu SUN Daowei SONG Tao | 2014 | Chinese Geographical Science2014,24,1: | 5 |

| 7 | ZBP1 mediates interferon-induced necroptosis显示文摘Interferons(IFNs)play an important role in immunomodulatory and antiviral functions.IFN-induced necroptosis has been reported in cells deficient in receptor-interacting protein kinase 1(RIPK1),Fas-associated protein with death domain(FADD),or caspase-8,but the mechanism is largely unknown.Here,we report that the DNA-dependent activator of IFN regulatory factors(ZBP1,also known as DAI)is required for both type Ⅰ(β)and type Ⅱ(γ)IFN-induced necroptosis.We show that L929 fibroblast cells became susceptible to IFN-induced necroptosis when RIPK1,FADD,or Caspase-8 was genetically deleted,confirming the antinecroptotic role of these proteins in IFN signaling.We found that the pronecroptotic signal from IFN stimulation depends on new protein synthesis and identified ZBP1,an IFN-stimulated gene(ISG)product,as the de novo synthesized protein that triggers necroptosis in IFN-stimulated cells.The N-terminal domain(ND)of ZBP1 is important for ZBP1–ZBP1 homointeraction,and its RHIM domain in the C-terminal region interacts with RIPK3 to initiate RIPK3-dependent necroptosis.The antinecroptotic function of RIPK1,FADD,and caspase-8 in IFN-treated cells is most likely executed by caspase-8-mediated cleavage of RIPK3,since the inhibitory effect on necroptosis was eliminated when the caspase-8 cleavage site in RIPK3 was mutated.ZBP1-mediated necroptosis in IFN-treated cells is likely physiologically relevant,as ZBP1 KO mice were significantly protected against acute systemic inflammatory response syndrome(SIRS)induced by TNF+IFN-γ. | Daowei Yang Yaoji Liang Shubo Zhao Yan Ding Qiuyu Zhuang Qilin Shi Tingting Ai Su-Qin Wu Jiahuai Han | 2020 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2020,17,4: | 5 |
