Puerarin protects brain tissue against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury by inhibiting the inflammatory response显示文摘Puerarin, a traditional Chinese medicine, exerts a powerful neuroprotective effect in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury, but its mechanism is unknown. Here, we established rat models of middle cerebral artery ischemia/reperfusion injury using the suture method. Puerarin(100 mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally 30 minutes before middle cerebral artery occlusion and 8 hours after reperfusion. Twenty-four hours after reperfusion, we found that puerarin significantly improved neurological deficit, reduced infarct size and brain water content, and notably diminished the expression of Toll-like receptor-4, myeloid differentiation factor 88, nuclear factor kappa B and tumor necrosis factor-α in the ischemic region. These data indicate that puerarin exerts an anti-inflammatory protective effect on brain tissue with ischemia/reperfusion damage by downregulating the expression of multiple inflammatory factors.Feng Zhou Liang Wang Panpan Liu Weiwei Hu Xiangdong Zhu Hong Shen Yuanyuan Yao 2014Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,23:27
Ammonium removal pathways and microbial community in GAC-sand dual media filter in drinking water treatment显示文摘A GAC-sand dual media filter(GSF) was devised as an alternative solution for drinking water treatment plant to tackle the raw water polluted by ammonium in place of expensive ozone-GAC processes or bio-pretreatments.The ammonium removal pathways and microbial community in the GSFs were investigated. The concentrations of ammonium, nitrite and nitrate nitrogen were monitored along the filter.Total inorganic nitrogen(TIN) loss occurred during the filtration. For 1 mg ammonium removal, the TIN loss was as high as 0.35 mg,DO consumption was 3.06 mg,and alkalinity consumption was 5.55 mg.It was assumed that both nitrification and denitrification processes occur in the filters to fit the TIN loss and low DO consumption.During the filtration, nitritation, nitrification and nitritation-anaerobic ammonium oxidation processes probably occur, while traditional nitrification and denitrification and simultaneous nitrification and denitrification processes may occur. In the GSFs,Nitrosomonas and Nitrospira are likely to be involved in nitrification processes, while Novosphingobium,Comamonadaceae and Oxalobacteraceae may be involved in denitrification processes.Shuo Feng Shuguang Xie Xiaojian Zhang Zhiyu Yang Wei Ding Xiaobin Liao Yuanyuan Liu Chao Chen 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,9:14
Kinetic analysis of waste activated sludge hydrolysis and short-chain fatty acids production at pH 10显示文摘The accumulation of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), a preferred carbon source for enhanced biological phosphorus removal microbes, was significantly improved when waste activated sludge (WAS) was fermented at pH 10. The kinetics of WAS hydrolysis and SCFAs production at pH 10 was investigated. It was observed that during WAS anaerobic fermentation the accumulation of SCFAs was limited by the hydrolysis process, and both the hydrolysis of WAS particulate COD and the accumulation of SCFAs followed first-order kinetics. The hydrolysis and SCFAs accumulation rate constants increased with increasing temperature from 10 to 35°C, which could be described by the Arrhenius equation. The kinetic data further indicated that SCFAs production at pH 10 was a biological process. Compared with the experiment of pH uncontrolled (blank test), both the rate constants of WAS hydrolysis and SCFAs accumulation at 20°C were improved significantly when WAS was fermented at pH 10.FENG Leiyu, YAN Yuanyuan, CHEN Yinguang State key Laboratory of Pollution Control and Resources Reuse, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tongji University, Shanghai 200092, China. 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,5:12

DDIT4 promotes gastric cancer proliferation and tumorigenesis through the p53 and MAPK pathways显示文摘Background:Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, particularly in China.DNA damage-inducible transcript 4(DDIT4)is a mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitor and is induced by various cellular stresses;however, its critical role in GC remains poorly understood. The present study aimed to investigate the poten-tial relationship and the underlying mechanism between DDIT4 and GC development. Methods:We used western blotting,real-time polymerase chain reaction, and immunohistochemical or immunoflu-orescence to determine DDIT4 expression in GC cells and tissues.High-content screening, cell counting kit-8 assays, colony formation, and in vivo tumorigenesis assays were performed to evaluate cell proliferation.Flow cytometry was used to investigate cell apoptosis and cell cycle distribution.Results:DDIT4 was upregulated in GC cells and tissue.Furthermore, downregulating DDIT4 in GC cells inhibited proliferation both in vitro and in vivo and increased 5-fluorouracil-induced apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. In contrast, ectopic expression of DDIT4 in normal gastric epithelial cells promoted proliferation and attenuated chemosensitivity.Further analysis indicated that the mitogen-activated protein kinase and p53 signaling pathways were involved in the suppression of proliferation, and increased chemosensitivity upon DDIT4 downregulation.Conclusion:DDIT4 promotes GC proliferation and tumorigenesis, providing new insights into the role of DDIT4 in the tumorigenesis of human GC.Feng Du Lina Sun Yi Chu Tingyu Li Chao Lei Xin Wang Mingzuo Jiang Yali Min Yuanyuan Lu Xiaodi Zhao Yongzhan Nie Daiming Fan 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:10

Genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of Banna virus(genus Seadornavirus, family Reoviridae)isolated from Culicoides显示文摘In an investigation of blood-sucking insects and arboviruses, a virus(YN12243) was isolated from Culicoides samples collected in the Sino-Burmese border region of Yunnan Province, China. The virus caused cytopathic effect(CPE) in C6/36 cells and passaged stably. Polyacrylamide gel analysis showed that the genome of YN12243 was composed of 12 segments of double-stranded RNA(dsRNA), with a distribution pattern of 6-6. The nucleotide and amino acid sequences of the coding region(1.12 segments) were17,803 bp and 5,925 amino acids in length, respectively. The phylogenetic analysis of VP1 protein(RdRp) revealed that YN12243 belonged to genus Seadornavirus of family Reoviridae, and further analysis indicated that YN12243 belongs to the Banna virus(BAV) genotype A2. Additionally, YN12243 was located in the same evolutionary cluster as BAV strains isolated from different mosquito species, suggesting that the BAV isolated from Culicoides does not have species barriers. These results indicate that Culicoides can also be a vector for BAV. In view of the hematophagous habits of Culicoides on cattle, horses, deer, and other large animals, as well as the possibility of spreading and causing a variety of animal arboviral diseases, it is important to improve infection detection and monitor the BAV in large livestock.Song Song Yuanyuan Li Shihong Fu Wenwen Lei Xiaofang Guo Yun Feng Xiaoyan Gao Xiaolong Li Zhonghua Yang Ziqian Xu Ying He Huanyu Wang Hongning Zhou Bin Wang Xiaoqing Lu Guodong Liang 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,12:8
Co-fermentation of waste activated sludge with food waste for short-chain fatty acids production:effect of pH at ambient temperature显示文摘Effect of pH ranging from 4.0 to 11.0 on cofermentation of waste activated sludge(WAS)with food waste for short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)production at ambient temperature was investigated in this study.Experimental results showed that the addition of food waste significantly improved the performance of WAS fermentation system, which resulted in the increases of SCFAs production and substrate reduction. The SCFAs production at pH 6.0,7.0,8.0,and 9.0 and fermentation time of 4 d was respectively 5022.7,6540.5,8236.6,and 7911.7 mg COD·L^(-1),whereas in the blank tests(no pH adjustment,pH 8.0(blank test 1),no food waste addition,pH 8.0(blank test 2),and no WAS addition(blank test 3))it was only 1006.9,971.1,and 1468.5 mg COD·L^(-1),respectively.The composition of SCFAs at pH from 6.0 to 9.0 was also different from other conditions and propionic acid was the most prevalent SCFA,which was followed by acetic and n-butyric acids, while acetic acid was the top product under other conditions. At pH 8.0 a higher volatile suspended solids(VSS)reduction of 16.6%for the mixture of WAS and food waste than the sole WAS indicated a synergistic effect existing in fermentation system with WAS and food waste. The influence of pH on the variations of nutrient content was also studied during anaerobic fermentation of the mixture of WAS and food waste at different pH conditions. The release of NH_(4)^(+)-N increased with fermentation time at all pH values investigated except 4.0,5.0 and in blank test one.The concentrations of soluble phosphorus at acidic pHs and in the blank test one were higher than those obtained at alkaline pHs.Ammonia and phosphorus need to be removed before the SCFAsenriched fermentation liquid from WAS and food waste was used as the carbon source.Leiyu FENG Yuanyuan YAN Yinguang CHEN 2011Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2011,5,4:8
Composite solid electrolyte of Na3PS4-PEO for all-solid-state SnS2/Na batteries with excellent interfacial compatibility between electrolyte and Na metal显示文摘High ionic conductivity and superior interfacial stability of solid electrolytes at the electrodes are crucial factors for high-performance all-solid-state sodium batteries. Herein, a composite solid electrolyte Na3PS4-polyethylene oxide is synthesized by the solution-phase reaction method with an improved ionic conductivity up to 9.4 × 10-5 S/cm at room temperature. Moreover, polyethylene oxide polymer layer is wrapped homogeneously on the surface of Na3PS4 particles, which could effectively avoid the direct contact between Na3PS4 electrolyte and sodium metal, thus alleviate their side reactions. We demonstrate that all-solid-state battery SnS2/Na with the composite solid electrolyte Na3PS4-polyethylene oxide delivers an enhanced electrochemical performance with 230 m Ah/g after 40 cycles.Xiaoyan Xu Yuanyuan Li Jun Cheng Guangmei Hou Xiangkun Nie Qing Ai Linna Dai Jinkui Feng Lijie Ci 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,2:7

Phytoplankton abundance in surface waters is concentrated in the west coast of Korean Peninsula and Korea Bay, and communities in those areas are mainly composed of diatoms and cyanobacteria with dominant species of Cylindrotheca closterium, Synechocystis pevalekii, Chroomonas acuta,Paralia sulcata, Thalassiosira pacifica and Karenia mikimotoi, etc. The first ten dominant species of the investigation area are analyzed by multidimensional scaling(MDS) and cluster analysis, then the Yellow Sea is divided into five provinces from Province I(P-I) to Province V(P-V). P-I includes the coastal areas near southern Liaodong Peninsula, with phytoplankton abundance of 35 420×10~3–36 163×10~3 cells/L and an average of 35 791×10~3 cells/L, and 99.84% of biomass is contributed by cyanobacteria. P-II is from Shandong Peninsula to Subei coastal area. Phytoplankton abundance is in a range of 2×10~3–48×10~3 cells/L with an average of 24×10~3cells/L, and 63.69% of biomass is contributed by diatoms. P-III represents the Changjiang(Yangtze River) Diluted Water. Phytoplankton abundance is 10×10~3–37×10~3 cells/L with an average of 24×10~3 cells/L, and 73.14% of biomass is contributed by diatoms. P-IV represents the area affected by the Yellow Sea Warm Current.Phytoplankton abundance ranges from 6×10~3 to 82×10~3 cells/L with an average of 28×10~3 cells/L, and 64.17% of biomass is contributed by diatoms. P-V represents the cold water mass of northern Yellow Sea. Phytoplankton abundance is in a range of 41×10~3–8 912×10~3 cells/L with an average of 1 763×10~3 cells/L, and 89.96% of biomass is contributed by diatoms. Overall, structures of phytoplankton community in spring are quite heterogeneous in different provinces. Canonical correspondence analysis(CCA) result illustrates the relationship between dominant species and environmental factors, and demonstrates that the main environmental factors that affect phytoplankton distribution are nitrate, temperature and salinity.ZHANG Shan LENG Xiaoyun FENG Yuanyuan DING Changlin YANG Yang WANG Jing WANG Houjie SUN Jun 2016Acta Oceanologica Sinica2016,35,8:7
Gapless indica rice genome reveals synergistic contributions of active transposable elements and segmental duplications to rice genome evolution显示文摘The ultimate goal of genome assembly is a high-accuracy gapless genome. Here,we report a new assembly pipeline that is used to produce a gapless genome for the indica rice cultivar Minghui 63.The resulting 397.71-Mb final assembly is composed of 12 contigs with a contig N50 size of 31.93 Mb.Each chromosome is represented by a single contig and the genomic sequences of all chromosomes are gapless.Quality evaluation of this gapless genome assembly showed that gene regions in our assembly have the highest completeness compared with the other 15 reported high-quality rice genomes.Further comparison with the japonica rice genome revealed that the gapless indica genome assembly contains more transposable elements(TEs)and segmental duplications(SDs),the latter of which produce many duplicated genes that can affect agronomic traits through dose effect or sub-/neo-functionalization.The insertion of TEs can also affect the expression of duplicated genes, which may drive the evolution of these genes.Furthermore,we found the expansion of nucleotide-binding site with leucine-rich repeat disease-resistance genes and cis-zeatin-O-glucosyltransferase growth-related genes in SDs in the gapless indica genome assembly, suggesting that SDs contribute to the adaptive evolution of rice disease resistance and developmental processes.Collectively, our findings suggest that active TEs and SDs synergistically contribute to rice genome evolution.Kui Li Wenkai Jiang Yuanyuan Hui Mengjuan Kong Li-Ying Feng Li-Zhi Gao Pengfu Li Shan Lu 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,10:6
Quality prediction of freshly-harvested wheat using Gluto Peak during postharvest maturation显示文摘Much recent researches have demonstrated that the quality of freshly-harvested wheat could be improved during postharvest maturation by determinating the rheological properties. However, this process is time-consuming and complex. This study aimed to provide a rapid and convenient method for predicting wheat quality during postharvest maturation by use of Gluto Peak device.Farinograph and Extensograph were used to determine the rheological properties of four wheat samples(WT1,WT2,WT3,WT4)stored under different conditions(WT1:15℃,50%RH;WT2:20℃65%RH;WT3:28℃75%RH;WT4:35℃85%RH)for a total of 10 weeks, and Gluto Peak test was used to determine the gluten aggregation properties of the four samples.Correlation analysis was also conducted between the rheological properties and the gluten aggregation properties. Results of rheological properties showed that all Extensographic properties(dough extensibility, resistance, maximum resistance and area)of the four samples increased along with the storage time, and the Farinographic properties(water absorption, dough development time, dough stability time, and farinograph quality number(FQN))had the same tendency, indicating that the rheological properties were improved considerably with storage time extending. The Gluto Peak curves revealed that Peak Maximum Time(PMT),Brabender Equivalents Maximum(BEM)and Energy to Maximum Torque(En MT)of wheat flour of the four samples varied greatly, particularly the PMT and En MT of the samples WT3 and WT4 increased remarkably. Results of correlation analysis showed that En MT had significant correlation with water absorption and area(P<0.05)for sample WT1,and also showed significant correlation with dough development time(P<0.05)for sample WT2.For sample WT3,PMT was significantly correlated with the dough development time,extensibility,area(P<0.05),and FQN(P<0.01);and En MT was in significant correction with water absorption(P<0.01),and dough stability time,FQN,extensibility, maximum resistance and area(P<0.05).For sample WT4,both PMT and En MT had significant correction with area(P<0.05).The study indicated that the Gluto Peak test is effective in quality prediction for the freshly-harvested wheat during postharvest maturation, making it possible to realize rapid wheat quality detection and evaluation in storage period.Mengyu Mu Ruidie Geng Yuanyuan Yue Feng Jia Xia Zhang Jinshui Wang 2021Grain & Oil Science and Technology2021,4,4:5
Broadband terahertz wave generation from an epsilon-near-zero material显示文摘Broadband light sources emitting in the terahertz spectral range are highly desired for applications such as noninvasive imaging and spectroscopy.Conventionally,THz pulses are generated by optical rectification in bulk nonlinear crystals with millimetre thickness, with the bandwidth limited by the phase-matching condition. Here we demonstrate broadband THz emission via surface optical rectification from a simple, commercially available 19nmthick indium tin oxide(ITO)thin film.We show an enhancement of the generated THz signal when the pump laser is tuned around the epsilon-near-zero(ENZ)region of ITO due to the pump laser field enhancement associated with the ENZ effect. The bandwidth of the THz signal generated from the ITO film can be over 3 THz,unrestricted by the phasematching condition. This work offers a new possibility for broadband THz generation in a subwavelength thin film made of an ENZ material, with emerging physics not found in existing nonlinear crystals.Wenhe Jia Meng Liu Yongchang Lu Xi Feng Qingwei Wang Xueqian Zhang Yibo Ni Futai Hu Mali Gong Xinlong Xu Yuanyuan Huang Weili Zhang Yuanmu Yang Jiaguang Han 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,1:4
Incorporation of silica nanoparticles to PLGA electrospun fibers for osteogenic differentiation of human osteoblast-like cells显示文摘The development of bone tissue engineering scaffolds still remains a challenging field, although various biomaterials have been developed for this purpose.Electrospinning is a promising approach to fabricate nanofibers with an interconnected porous structure, which can support cell adhesion, guide cell proliferation and regulate cell differentiation. The aim of this study is to fabricate composite fibers composed of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)and silica nanoparticles(NPs)via electrospinning and investigate the effect of PLGA/SiO_(2)composite fibers on the cellular response of osteoblast-like cells(SaOS-2 cells).SEM and EDX analysis showed that silica NPs were homogenously dispersed in the composite fibers. The mechanical behavior of the fibers showed that silica NPs acted as reinforcements at concentrations of 2.5 and 5 mg/ml.The incorporation of silica NPs led to enhancement of cell attachment and spreading on PLGA/SiO_(2)composite fibers.SaOS-2 cells cultured on PLGA/SiO_(2)composite fibers exhibited increased alkaline phosphatase activity, collagen secretion and bone nodules formation. The bone nodules formation of SaOS-2 cells increased along with the amount of incorporated silica NPs.The present findings indicate that PLGA/SiO_(2)composite fibers can stimulate osteogenic differentiation of SaOS-2 cells and may be a promising candidate scaffold for bone tissue engineering.Xing Yang Yuanyuan Li Xujie Liu Qianli Huang Ranran Zhang Qingling Feng 2018Regenerative Biomaterials2018,5,4:4
Amino-functionalized porous PDVB with high adsorption and regeneration performance for fluoride removal from water显示文摘Excessive fluoride anions in drinking water are toxic to the health of human beings. In this article,an effective fluoride removal adsorbent on the basis of amino-functionalized porous polydivinylbenzene(PDVB)was prepared through low cost processes, which included solvothermal preparation of porous PDVB and subsequent surface amino-functionalization.The obtained amino-functionalized porous PDVB(A-PDVB)has high surface area of 443 m2 g1 and high adsorption capacity towards fluoride anion up to 105.9 mg g1.Considering adsorbents surface area, the adsorption capacity per unit surface area of A-PDVB is 0.24 mg m2 which is more than 4 times of porous PDVB(0.058 mg m2).The enhanced adsorption performance of A-PDVB was due to amino groups electrostatic interaction coupled with hydrogen bond binding with fluoride anions. In addition, the aminofunctionalized porous PDVB could be regenerated in high efficiency under alkaline conditions. This work not only exhibits the possibility of A-PDVB for application as an environment-friendly adsorbent for fluoride removal but also gives an insight into understanding mechanism of the fluoride anions adsorption onto aminofunctionalized porous PDVB.Yuanyuan Huang Xianbiao Wang Yongfei Xu Shaojie Feng Jin Liu Huanting Wang 2021Green Chemical Engineering2021,2,2:4

Naringenin is a Potential Immunomodulator for Inhibiting Liver Fibrosis by Inhibiting the cGAS-STING Pathway显示文摘Background and Aims:Naringenin is an anti-inflammatory flavonoid that has been studied in chronic liver disease. The mechanism specific to its antifibrosis activity needs further investigation This study was to focused on the cyclic guanosine monophosphate-adenosine monophosphate synthase(cGAS)pathway in hepatic stellate cells and clarified the antifibrosis mechanism of naringenin. Methods:The relationship between the cGAS-stimulator of interferon genes(STING)pathway and liver fibrosis was analyzed using the Gene Expression Omnibus database.Histopathology, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence staining,Western blotting and polymerase chain reaction were performed to assess gene and protein expression levels associated with the cGAS pathway in clinical liver tissue samples and mouse livers.Molecular docking was performed to evaluate the relationship between naringenin and cGAS,and western blotting was performed to study the expression of inflammatory factors downstream of cGAS in vitro. Results:Clinical database analyses showed that the cGAS-STING pathway is involved in the occurrence of chronic liver disease.Naringenin ameliorated liver injury and liver fibrosis, decreased collagen deposition and cGAS expression, and inhibited inflammation in carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)-treated mice.Molecular docking found that cGAS may be a direct target of naringenin.Consistent with the in vivo results,we verified the inhibitory effect of naringenin on activated hepatic stellate cells(HSCs).By using the cGAS-specific agonist double-stranded(ds)DNA,we showed that naringenin attenuated the activation of cGAS and its inflammatory factors affected by dsDNA.We verified that naringenin inhibited the cGAS-STING pathway, thereby reducing the secretion of inflammatory factors by HSCs to ameliorate liver fibrosis. Conclusions:Interrupting the cGAS-STING pathway helped reverse the fibrosis process.Naringenin has potential as an antihepatic fibrosis drug.Li Chen Siwei Xia Shuqi Wang Yuanyuan Zhou Feixia Wang Zhanghao Li Yang Li Desong Kong Zili Zhang Jiangjuan Shao Xuefen Xu Feng Zhang Shizhong Zheng 2023Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2023,11,1:3
A hybrid genipin-crosslinked dual-sensitive hydrogel/nanostructured lipid carrier ocular drug delivery platform显示文摘The objective of this study was to develop a novel hybrid genipin-crosslinked dual-sensitive hydrogel/nanostructured lipid carrier(NLC) drug delivery platform. An ophthalmic antiinflammatory drug, baicalin(BN) was chosen as the model drug. BN –NLC was prepared using melt-emulsification combined with ultra-sonication technique. Additionally, a dual pH-and thermo-sensitive hydrogel composed of carboxymethyl chitosan(CMCS) and poloxamer 407(F127) was fabricated by a cross-linking reaction with a nontoxic crosslinker genipin(GP). GP-CMCS/F127 hydrogel was characterized by FTIR, NMR, XRD and SEM. The swelling studies showed GP-CMCS/F127 hydrogel was both pH-and thermo-sensitive. The results of in vitro release suggested BN –NLC gel can prolong the release of baicalin comparing with BN eye drops and BN –NLC. Ex vivo cornea permeation study was evaluated using Franz diffusion cells. The apparent permeability coefficient(Papp) of BN –NLC gel was much higher(4.46-fold) than that of BN eye drops. Through the determination of corneal hydration levels, BN –NLC gel was confirmed that had no significant irritation to cornea. Ex vivo precorneal retention experiments were carried out by a flow-through approach. The results indicated that the NLC-based hydrogel can prolong precorneal residence time. In conclusion, the hybrid NLCbased hydrogel has a promising potential for application in ocular drug delivery.Yibin Yu Ruoxi Feng Jinyu Li Yuanyuan Wang Yiming Song Guoxin Tan Dandan Liu Wei Liu Xinggang Yang Hao Pan Sanming Li 2019Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2019,14,4:3
Three-dimensional reconstruction of Picea wilsonii Mast. pollen grains using automated electron microscopy显示文摘Three-dimensional electron microscopy(3 D-EM) has attracted considerable attention because of its ability to provide detailed information with respect to developmental analysis. However, large-scale high-resolution 3 D reconstruction of biological samples remains challenging. Herein, we present a 3 D view of a Picea wilsonii Mast. pollen grain with 100 nm axial and38.57 nm lateral resolution using AutoCUTS-SEM(automatic collector of ultrathin sections-scanning electron microscopy). We established a library of 3,127 100 nm thick serial sections of pollen grains for preservation and observation, demonstrating that the protocol can be used to analyze large-volume samples. After obtaining the SEM images, we reconstructed an entire pollen grain comprising 734 serial sections. The images produced by 3D reconstruction clearly revealed the main components of the P.wilsonii pollen grain, i.e., two sacci and pollen corpus, tube cell, generative cell, and two degenerated prothallial cells, and their internal organization. In addition, we performed a quantitative analysis of the different pollen grain cells, including sacci, and found that there were 202 connections within a saccus SEM image. Thus, for the first time, this study provided a global 3D view of the entire pollen grain, which will be useful for analyzing pollen development and growth.Weiwei Shen Lingyu Ma Xi Zhang Xixia Li Yuanyuan Zhao Yanping Jing Yun Feng Xueke Tan Fei Sun Jinxing Lin 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,2:3
Effect of baffles on bubble behavior in a bubbling fluidized bed for chemical looping processes显示文摘A bubbling fluidized bed is generally used as the fuel reactor in chemical looping processes. However,in sufficient gas-solid contact remains a steadfast problem. As such,we propose the use of in ternal baffles to split bubbles at a high gas velocity and to restrict the movement of large-scale solids in the fluidized bed.We investigated the effect of baffle arrangement on the bubble size and energy, pressure gradient, particle distribution, and particle velocity in a fluidized bed using a computational particle fluid dynamics simulation based on our experimental results. We discuss the main influenci ng factors, which in elude presence of caps, number of baffles, and the baffle opening ratio. The baffle structure with caps efficiently broke the large bubbles without creating jet flow.Three baffles were deemed suitable in the bed owing to the small bubble size and uniform gas-solid distribution in each compartment. We selected a baffle opening ratio of 20.5%,which improved the flow pattern without causing a significant increase in the pressure gradient and particle velocity through the baffles. We also discussed the potential for sea ling up this baffled fluidized bed for industrial applications.Xiao Zhu Xuan Feng Yuanyuan Zou Laihong Shen 2020Particuology2020,18,6:3
