Interactive effects of wind speed, vegetation coverage and soil moisture in controlling wind erosion in a temperate desert steppe,Inner Mongolia of China显示文摘The rapid desertification of grasslands in Inner Mongolia of China poses a significant ecological threaten to northern China. The combined effects of anthropogenic disturbances(e.g., overgrazing) and biophysical processes(e.g., soil erosion) have led to vegetation degradation and the consequent acceleration of regional desertification. Thus, mitigating the accelerated wind erosion, a cause and effect of grassland desertification, is critical for the sustainable management of grasslands. Here, a combination of mobile wind tunnel experiments and wind erosion model was used to explore the effects of different levels of vegetation coverage, soil moisture and wind speed on wind erosion at different positions of a slope inside an enclosed desert steppe in the Xilamuren grassland of Inner Mongolia. The results indicated a significant spatial difference in wind erosion intensities depending on the vegetation coverage, with a strong decreasing trend from the top to the base of the slope. Increasing vegetation coverage resulted in a rapid decrease in wind erosion as explained by a power function correlation. Vegetation coverage was found to be a dominant control on wind erosion by increasing the surface roughness and by lowering the threshold wind velocity for erosion. The critical vegetation coverage required for effectively controlling wind erosion was found to be higher than 60%. Further, the wind erosion rates were negatively correlated with surface soil moisture and the mass flux in aeolian sand transport increased with increasing wind speed. We developed a mathematical model of wind erosion based on the results of an orthogonal array design. The results from the model simulation indicated that the standardized regression coefficients of the main effects of the three factors(vegetation coverage, soil moisture and wind speed) on the mass flux in aeolian sand transport were in the following order: wind speed>vegetation coverage>soil moisture. These three factors had different levels of interactive effects on the mass flux in aeolian sand transport. Our results will improve the understanding of the interactive effects of wind speed, vegetation coverage and soil moisture in controlling wind erosion in desert steppes, and will be helpful for the design of desertification control programs in future.MENG Zhongju DANG Xiaohong GAO Yong REN Xiaomeng DING Yanlong WANG Meng 2018Journal of Arid Land2018,10,4:19

Chinese Stroke Association guidelines for clinical management of cerebrovascular disorders:executive summary and 2019 update of the management of high-risk population显示文摘Aim Cerebrovascular disease is the leading cause of death and disability in China, causing a huge burden among patients and their families.Hence, stroke prevention is critical, especially in the high-risk population. Here,we present the evidence-based guideline suitable for the Chinese population. Methods Literature search of PubMed and Cochrane library(from January 1964 to June 2019)was done. After thorough discussion among the writing group members, recommendations were listed and summarised. This guideline was reviewed and discussed by the fellow writing committees of the Chinese Stroke Association’s Stroke. Results This evidence-based guideline was written in three parts:controlling the risk factors of stroke, utilisation of antiplatelet agents and assessing the risks of first-ever stroke. All recommendations were listed along with the recommending classes and levels of evidence. Conclusions This guideline provides recommendations for primary prevention of cerebrovascular disease among high-risk population in China.Controlling related risk factors, appropriately using antiplatelet agents, assessing the risk of developing first-ever stroke should help reduce the rate of cerebrovascular disease in China.Yilong Wang Shangrong Han Haiqiang Qin Huaguang Zheng Bin Jiang Yong Cao Yuan Gao Ling Guan Qian Jia Yong Jiang Yuming Jiao Shuya Li Yapeng Li Zixiao Li Wei Liu Xiaojuan Ru Dongling Sun Haixin Sun Penglian Wang Tingting Wang Lixia Zong Lei Guo Xuewei Xie Yuming Xu Yuyuan Xu Xiaomeng Yang Yingying Yang Mengyuan Zhou Wenzhi Wang Chinese Stroke Association Stroke Council Guideline Writing Committee 2020Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,3:11
Altered Local Field Potential Relationship Between the Parafascicular Thalamic Nucleus and Dorsal Striatum in Hemiparkinsonian Rats显示文摘The thalamostriatal pathway is implicated in Parkinson's disease(PD); however, PD-related changes in the relationship between oscillatory activity in the centromedian-parafascicular complex(CM/Pf, or the Pf in rodents) and the dorsal striatum(DS) remain unclear. Therefore, we simultaneously recorded local field potentials(LFPs) in both the Pf and DS of hemiparkinsonian and control rats during epochs of rest or treadmill walking. The dopamine-lesioned rats showed increased LFP power in the beta band(12 Hz–35 Hz) in the Pf and DS during both epochs, but decreased LFP power in the delta(0.5 Hz–3 Hz) band in the Pf during rest epochs and in the DS during both epochs, compared to control rats. In addition, exaggerated low gamma(35 Hz–70 Hz) oscillations after dopamine loss were restricted to the Pf regardless of the behavioral state. Furthermore, enhanced synchronization of LFP oscillations was found between the Pf and DS after the dopamine lesion. Significant increases occurred in the mean coherence in both theta(3 Hz–7 Hz) and beta bands, and a significant increase was also noted in the phase coherence in the beta band between the Pf and DS during rest epochs. During the treadmill walking epochs, significant increases were found in both the alpha(7 Hz–12 Hz)and beta bands for two coherence measures. Collectively, dramatic changes in the relative LFP power and coherence in the thalamostriatal pathway may underlie the dysfunction of the basal ganglia-thalamocortical network circuits in PD, contributing to some of the motor and non-motor symptoms of the disease.Haiyan Zhang Jing Yang Xuenan Wang Xiaomeng Yao Hongyu Han Yunfeng Gao Hongli Chang Tianyu Xiang Shuang Sun Yanan Wang Xiusong Wang Min Wang 2019Neuroscience Bulletin2019,35,2:5
Wind-induced hydrodynamic changes impact on sediment resuspension for large, shallow Lake Taihu, China显示文摘The internal sediment release is a key factor controlling eutrophication processes in large, shallow lakes.Sediment resuspension is associated with the wave and current induced shear stress in large, shallow lakes. The current study investigated the wind field impacts on sediment resuspension from the bottom at Meiliang Bay of large, shallow Lake Taihu. The impacts of the wind field on the wave, current, and wave-current combined shear stresses were calculated. The critical wind speed range was 4–6 m/s after which wave and current shear stress started to increase abruptly, and onshore wind directions were found to be mainly responsible for greater shear stress at the bottom of Lake Taihu.A second order polynomial fitting correlation was found between wave(R^2 0.4756)and current(R^2 0.4466)shear stresses with wind speed.Wave shear stress accounted for 92.5% of the total shear stress at Meiliang Bay.The critical wave shear stress and critical total shear stress were 0.13 N/m^2 for sediment resuspension whereas the current shear stress was 0.019 N/m^2 after which suspended sediment concentrations(SSC)increased abruptly.A second order polynomial fitting correlation was found between wave(R^2 0.739),current(R^2 0.6264),and total shear stress(R^2 0.7394)with SSC concentrations at Meiliang Bay of Lake Taihu. The sediment resuspension rate was 120 to 738 g/m^2/d during 4–6 m/s onshore winds while offshore winds contributed ≥ 200 g/m^2/d.The study results reveal the driving mechanism for understanding the role of the wind field in sediment resuspension while considering wind speed and direction as control parameters to define wave and current shear stresses.Abdul Jalil Yiping Li Ke Zhang Xiaomeng Gao Wencai Wang Hafiz Osama Sarwar Khan Baozhu Pan Salar Ali Kumud Acharya 2019International Journal of Sediment Research2019,34,3:4
Recent advances on rare earths in solid lithium ion conductors显示文摘Solid lithium-ion-conducting material is the key component in the fabrication of next-gene ration all solid state lithium ion batteries(LIBs)which would exhibit superior safety and performance compared with the currently widely used ones that resort to essentially inflammable and volatile organic solvents. To date, great efforts have been made in developing solid conductors with high lithium ion conductivity, such as polymers and inorganic materials.Rare earths play a very important role in this area and have attracted extensive interest since the recent decades for their unique properties in the realm of solidstate inorganic lithium-ion-conducting electrolyte materials. In this introduction,we focus on the role of rare earths in solid conductors for lithium ion, especially in a few most studied systems such as perovskites, garnets, silicates, borohydride and the recently reported halides in which rare earths act as a key framing component.Besides, the effect of rare earths as dopants is also discussed in some recently studied systems.Valence, coordination, and size are the most important factors that influence the crystal structure and property of these lithium ion conductors. The aim of this review is to highlight the great potentials of these unique elements of rare earths, and to help improve the performance of existing materials and explore new applications in the development of new LIBs with high performances.Qian Zhang Zhiqing Gao Xiaomeng Shi Chao Zhang Kang Liu Jun Zhang Liang Zhou Chunjie Ma Yaping Du 2021Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,1:2

Proteomics analysis of the hypothalamus of high-fat diet fed mice after Lactiplantibacillus plantarum Y44 administration显示文摘Probiotics could regulate human health via changing gut microbiota. Our previous studies found that Lactiplantibacillus plantarum Y44 (L.plantarum Y44) was shown to reverse obesity-related symptoms of high-fat diet fed mice by influencing gut microbiota, which ameliorated lipid metabolism disorders and intestinal inflammation. In this study, the effects of L.plantarum Y44 on high-fat fed mice and the involved mechanisms were investigated through hypothalamus proteomics analysis, which revealed 22 downregulated and 21 upregulated proteins.Differentially expressed proteins between L.plantarum Y44 intervention group and high-fat fed group in hypothalamus of mice involved in metabolic pathways were concentrated in endocrine regulation of carbohydrate, amino acid and energy generation pathways. The hypothalamus proteomics results about the influences on most of differentially expressed proteins of L.plantarum Y44 administering high-fat fed mice has been verified.Therefore,L.plantarum Y44 would be a potential functional strain for the amelioration of high-fat diet associated health problems.Xiaomeng Wu Yajuan Wang Xinyu Du Yujun Liu Yuan Gao Yanfeng Tuo Guangqing Mu 2022Food Bioscience2022,47,3:0
Application of nano-patterned InGaN fabricated by selfassembled Ni nano-masks in green InGaN/GaN multiple quantum wells显示文摘The nano-patterned InGaN film was used in green InGaN/GaN multiple quantum wells(MQWs)structure,to relieve the unpleasantly existing mismatch between high indium content InGaN and GaN,as well as to enhance the light output. The different self-assembled nano-masks were formed on InGaN by annealing thin Ni layers of different thicknesses.Whereafter, the InGaN films were etched into nano-patterned films.Compared with the green MQWs structure grown on untreated InGaN film, which on nano-patterned InGaN had better luminous performance.Among them the MQWs performed best when 3 nm thick Ni film was used as mask, because that optimally balanced the effects of nano-patterned InGaN on the crystal quality and the light output.Ruoshi Peng Shengrui Xu Xiaomeng Fan Hongchang Tao Huake Su Yuan Gao Jincheng Zhang Yue Hao 2023Journal of Semiconductors2023,44,4:0
Formation of copper boride on Cu(111)显示文摘Boron forms compounds with nearly all metals, with notable exception of copper and other group IB and IIB elements. Here,we report an unexpected discovery of ordered copper boride grown epitaxially on Cu(111)under ultrahigh vacuum.Scanning tunneling microscopy experiments combined with ab initio evolutionary structure prediction reveal a remarkably complex structure of 2D-Cu_(8)B_(14).Strong intra-layer p–d hybridization and a large amount of charge transfer between Cu and B atoms are the key factors for the emergence of copper boride. This makes the discovered material unique and opens up the possibility of synthesizing ordered low-dimensional structures in similar immiscible systems.Chengguang Yue Xiao-Ji Weng Guoying Gao Artem ROganov Xiao Dong Xi Shao Xiaomeng Wang Jian Sun Bo Xu Hui-Tian Wang Xiang-Feng Zhou Yongjun Tian 2021Fundamental Research2021,1,4:0
Synergistic effects of carbon cycle metabolism and photosynthesis in Chinese cabbage under salt stress显示文摘Chinese cabbage(Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis) has a long cultivation history and is one of the vegetable crops with the largest cultivation area in China. However, salt stress severely damages photosynthesis and hormone metabolism, nutritional balances, and results in ion toxicity in plants. To better understand the mechanisms of salt-induced growth inhibition in Chinese cabbage, RNA-seq and physiological index determination were conducted to explore the impacts of salt stress on carbon cycle metabolism and photosynthesis in Chinese cabbage. Here, we found that the number of thylakoids and grana lamellae and the content of starch granules and chlorophyll in the leaves of Chinese cabbage under salt stress showed a time-dependent response, first increasing and then decreasing. Chinese cabbage increased the transcript levels of genes related to the photosynthetic apparatus and carbon metabolism under salt stress, probably in an attempt to alleviate damage to the photosynthetic system and enhance CO_(2) fixation and energy metabolism. The transcription of genes related to starch and sucrose synthesis and degradation were also enhanced;this might have been an attempt to maintain intracellular osmotic pressure by increasing soluble sugar concentrations. Soluble sugars could also be used as potential reactive oxygen species(ROS) scavengers, in concert with peroxidase(POD)enzymes, to eliminate ROS that accumulate during metabolic processes. Our study characterizes the synergistic response network of carbon metabolism and photosynthesis under salt stress.Hao Liang Qiling Shi Xing Li Peipei Gao Daling Feng Xiaomeng Zhang Yin Lu Jingsen Yan Shuxing Shen Jianjun Zhao Wei Ma 2024Horticultural Plant Journal2024,10,2:0
A specific and selective chemiluminescent probe for Pd^(2+) detection显示文摘As an important transition metal catalyst, palladium is extensively used in many areas including electronics industry, petroleum industry, automobile industry and fine chemicals engineering. However,it brings harm to the environment as well as people's health. Herein, we managed to introduce a butynyl group to 1,2-dioxetane developing a reaction-based chemiluminescent probe as well as an imaging approach for monitoring palladium(II). 16dBrms1 Acts as a Positive Regulator of Notch Signaling in Drosophila Wing显示文摘The highly conserved Notch signaling is precisely regulated at different steps in a series of developmental events. However, little is known about the regulation of Notch receptor at transcriptional level. Here, we demonstrate that dBrms1 is involved in regulating Notch signaling in Drosophila wing. We show that knockdown of dBrms1 by RNA interference(RNAi) in wing disc suppresses the expression of Notch signaling target genes wingless(wg), cut and Enhancer of split m8 [E(spl)m8]. Consistently, the levels of Wg and Cut are reduced in the dBrms1 mutant clones. Importantly, loss of dBrms1 leads to significant reduction of Notch proteins. Furthermore, depletion of dBrms1 results in apparent downregulation of Notch transcription in the wing disc. Moreover, we find that dBrms1 is functionally conserved with human Breast cancer metastasis suppressor 1 like(hBRMS1L) in the modulation of Notch signaling. Taken together, our data provide important insights into the biological function of dBrms1 in regulating Notch signaling.Qinghai Zhang Yan Zhang Longfei Wu Yongfei Yang Xue Li Lei Gao Xiaomeng Hou Yihui Wu Guoli Hou Zhouhua Li Xinhua Lin 2014Journal of Genetics and Genomics2014,41,6:0
Enhanced separation of tetrafluoropropanol from water via carbon nanotubes membranes:insights from molecular dynamics simulations显示文摘Fluorinated alcohols exhibit promising prospects in chemical industry because of their special structure and many exciting properties,in which tetrafluoropropanol(TFP)is extensive applied in synthesis of pesticides, dyestuffs, variety of solvents and detergents. However, the presence of TFP in water garners increasing attention globally because of their intrinsic potential to threat ecosystems and human health.Carbon nanotubes(CNTs)membranes are burgeoning candidates for TFP-water separation owing to well-endowed extraordinary structural and transport properties. However,a grand challenge lies in the rational design of CNTs for improving separation performance.Herein, molecular dynamics(MD)simulations were performed to investigate the effects of various parameters on the separation of TFP-water mixtures including feed temperature,CNTs pore diameters, and fluorine functionalization position. It was found that TFP was pre-selected in CNTs ranging from 9.48 to 18.98Ådue to preferential adsorption and diffusion mechanism.Excellent separation factor of 16 was achieved by(7,7)CNTs and the mass fraction of TFP was purified from 75%to 97.51%.Fluorine modified CNTs separated TFP and water by preferentially permeating water due to hydrogen bonding interaction.Simulation results showed that CNTs modified at both the entrance and interior had better separation performance than CNT modified only at one of these positions. The 100wt%water content in permeate was achieved by(11,11)CNTs modified with fluorine at the entrance and interior. These findings provide valuable insights for designing potential candidates for fluorinated alcohol-water azeotropic mixtures membrane separation, and promise extensive application aspects for the reclamation of fluorinated alcohol.Qing Li Xiaomeng Wang Ying Liu Zhun Ma Qun Wang Dongmei Xu Jun Gao Ruirui Wu Hui Sun Xueli Gao 2023Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,11:0
