1Nb2C MXene-Functionalized Scaffolds Enables Osteosarcoma Phototherapy and Angiogenesis/Osteogenesis of Bone Defects显示文摘Early surgical resection and chemotherapy of bone cancer are commonly used in the treatment of bone tumor,but it is still highly challenging to prevent recurrence and fill the bone defect caused by the resection site.In this work,we report a rational integration of photonic-responsive two-dimensional(2D)ultrathin niobium carbide(Nb2C)MXene nanosheets(NSs)into the 3D-printed bone-mimetic scaffolds(NBGS)for osteosarcoma treatment.The integrated 2D Nb2C-MXene NSs feature specific photonic response in the second near-infrared(NIR-II)biowindow with high tissue-penetrating depth,making it highly efficient in killing bone cancer cells.Importantly,Nb-based species released by the biodegradation of Nb2C MXene can obviously promote the neogenesis and migration of blood vessels in the defect site,which can transport more oxygen,vitamins and energy around the bone defect for the reparative process,and gather more immune cells around the defect site to accelerate the degradation of NBGS.The degradation of NBGS provides sufficient space for the bone remodeling.Besides,calcium and phosphate released during the degradation of the scaffold can promote the mineralization of new bone tissue.The intrinsic multifunctionality of killing bone tumor cell and promoting angiogenesis and bone regeneration makes the engineered Nb2C MXeneintegrated composite scaffolds a distinctive implanting biomaterial on the efficient treatment of bone tumor.Junhui Yin Shanshan Pan Xiang Guo Youshui Gao Daoyu Zhu Qianhao Yang Junjie Gao Changqing Zhang Yu Chen 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,2:5
2Thiocyanate-induced labilization of schwertmannite: Impacts and mechanisms显示文摘Schwertmannite is an amorphous iron(III)-oxyhydroxysulfate that forms in acid mine drainage(AMD) environments. The characteristic of high heavy metal adsorption capability makes schwertmannite a potentially useful, environmentally friendly material in wastewater treatment. Unstable schwertmannite is prone to recrystallization.Understanding the mechanisms that induce schwertmannite labilization and affect its capacity to remove heavy metals are of great environmental and geochemical significance.Thiocyanate(SCNˉ) is a hazardous pseudohalide that is also normally found in AMD.However, little is known about the impact of Fe(III)-binding ligand SCNˉ on schwertmannite stability and its subsequent capacity to bind trace elements. Here, we investigated the adsorption of SCNˉ on schwertmannite and subsequent mineral transformation to characterize this little-known process. The appearance of Fe2+indicated that the interactions between schwertmannite and SCNˉ may involve complexation and reduction reactions. Results showed that the majority of the adsorbed-SCNˉ was immobilized on schwertmannite during the 60-days transformation. The transformation rates of schwertmannite increased with increasing concentrations of SCNˉ. Goethite was detected as the dominant transformation product with or without SCNˉ. The mechanisms of SCNˉ-promoted dissolution of schwertmannite can be described as follows:(1) formation of Fe(III)–NCS complexes on the schwertmannite surface and in solution, a process which increases the reactivity of solid phase Fe(III);(2) the extraction of Fe(III) from schwertmannite by SCNˉ and subsequent schwertmannite dissolution; and(3) the formation of secondary minerals from extracted Fe(III). 3The Earth's inner core deviation to plate movement显示文摘Under the premise of the Earth’s layer structure and mass distribution, the solid inner core cannot be stable in the center of the sphere. Thus, the deviation of the inner core is towards the sphere’s center and the liquid outer core must have asymmetrical thermal convection. Based on the two suggestions, a concise and self-consistent global motion model can be built. The model consists of the following cycle: an asymmetrical thermal convection structure in the outer core led by the dislocation of the inner core→the plume is in special upwell position because of differential activation→the formation and split of lithosphere→the split plates drift and assemble in a new location, the mass of which causes the inner core to deviate towards this direction again→the new asymmetry is formed. As this circulation continues, a definite and periodical motion emerges/forms. Its nonlinear features result in the Earth’s motion with simple mechanisms but complex behavior. 5Rapid assessment of DNA damage induced by polystyrene nanosphere suspension using a photoelectrochemical DNA sensor显示文摘Nanomaterials have been used increasingly in a wide variety of applications, and some of them have shown toxic effects on experimental animals and cells. In this study, a previously established photoelectrochemical DNA sensor was employed to rapidly detect DNA damage induced by polystyrene nanosphere (PSNS) suspensions. In the sensor, a double-stranded DNA film was assembled on a semiconductor electrode, and a DNA intercalator, Ru(bpy)2(dppz)2+ (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, dppz = dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine) was used as the photoelectrochemical signal indicator. After the DNA-modified electrode was exposed to 2.0 mg/mL PSNS suspension, photocurrent of DNA-bound Ru(bpy)2(dppz)2+ decreased by about 20%. The decrease is attributed to the chemical damage of DNA and consequently less binding of Ru(bpy)2(dppz)2+ molecules to the electrode. Gel electrophoresis of DNA samples incubated with PSNS suspension confirmed DNA damage after the chemical exposure. However, in both photoelectrochemical and gel electrophoresis experiments, extensively washed PSNS did not induce any DNA damage, and the supernatant of PSNS suspension exhibited comparable DNA damage as the unwashed PSNS suspension. Furthermore, UV-visible absorption spectrum of the supernatant displayed a pattern very similar to that of styrene oxide (SO), a compound which has been shown to induce DNA damage by forming covalent DNA adducts. It is therefore suggested that styrene oxide and other residual chemicals in the PSNS may be responsible for the observed DNA damage. 6Strength Degradation of Wood Members Based on the Correlation of Natural and Accelerated Decay Experiments显示文摘An accelerated decay test and a natural decay test were conducted synchronically to explore the strength degradation of decaying wood members under long-term exposure to natural environment.A natural decay test was carried out to measure the bending strength,compressive strength parallel to grain and modulus of elasticity of the wood members,with 6 groups of specimens decayed in natural environment for 3 to 18 months respectively.To compare with corresponding decay test,in which 6 other groups of specimens were measured under accelerated conditions.The experimental data collected were evaluated by Pearson productmoment for the correlation.The results indicate that the mechanical properties of the accelerated decay were highly correlated with those in natural environment,both of which decreased in the same trend.Under the given test conditions,the mean value of the accelerated decay test data were curve-fitted to achieve the time-dependent degradation model of the bending strength,the compressive strength parallel to grain,as well as the modulus of elasticity.Due to the high correlation,the acceleration shift factors(ASF)of the two tests were derived,where the bending strength of 2.934,the compressive strength parallel to grain of 2.519 and the elastic modulus of 2.346 were employed to formulate the strength degradation models in the long-term natural environment.The results verify that the exponential functionσ=σ0e^(-βt)enables to exactly capture the degradation of the mechanical properties of wood members decayed in natural environment.Xueliang Wang Qiangang Xu Xiuxin Wang Junhui Guo Wancheng Cao Chun Xiao 2020Journal of Renewable Materials2020,8,5:1
7Diagenetic Sequence and Genetic Mechanism of Silurian Tight Sandstone Reservoirs in the Eastern Tarim Basin, Northwest China显示文摘The Silurian stratigraphic sequence has recently become one of the most important exploration targets in the Tarim Basin, with a considerable amount of profitable hydrocarbon pools discovered in the central Tarim Basin. Previous exploration activities indicate that the Silurian stratigraphic sequence in the eastern Tarim Basin has great hydrocarbon exploration potential. The Silurian reservoirs comprise a set of tight marine sandstones, whose diagenetic sequence and genetic mechanism are still poorly understood. The complex relationship of hydrocarbon generation, the timing of the peak expulsion of the source rocks and the evolution of the reservoirs remains unclear. An integrated description and analysis have been carried out on core samples from eleven wells selected from the eastern Tarim Basin. A range of petrographic and geochemical analyses were conducted. By using an integrated approach with thin-section petrography, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), cathodoluminescence(CL), carbon and oxygen isotope geochemistry, formation water analysis, X-ray diffractometry(XRD), electron probe microanalysis and fluid inclusion microthermometry, the genesis and occurrence of individual diagenetic events were documented to reconstruct the diagenetic sequence and diagenetic model for the Silurian sandstone. Additionally, the tight nature of the Silurian reservoirs can mainly be attributed to the compaction processes and cementation. In particular, the destructiveness of the compactional processes to the original porosity is far greater than that from the cementation. Furthermore, fluid inclusion analyses also indicate that the Silurian sandstone has experienced three phases of hydrocarbon charge. The first two phases occurred during the eodiagenesis stage(from the Late Silurian to the Early Devonian and from the Late Carboniferous to the end of the Late Permian), when the Silurian sandstone was not tight and had a porosity of greater than 20%. 8Soil microbial communities as potential regulators of N2O sources in highly acidic soils显示文摘●Soil pH was a key driver of N2O emission and sources in acidic soils.●N2O emission was significantly positively associated with the ratio of ITS to 16S.●N2O was significantly correlated with bacterial and fungal community composition.●Fungi contributed to N2O in highly acidic tea plantations and vegetable fields.Acidic soil is a main source of global nitrous oxide(N2O)emissions.However,the mechanism behind the high N2O emissions from acidic soils remains a knowledge gap.The objective of this microcosm incubation study was to pin-point the microbial mechanisms involved in N2O production processes in acidic soils.For that purpose,the isotopic signatures and microbial community structure and composition of four soil samples were examined.The results showed that highly acid soils(pH=3.51)emitted 89 times more N2O than alkaline soils(pH=7.95)under the same nitrogen(N)inputs.Fungal denitrification caused high N2O emissions in acidic soils.ITS to 16S abundance ratio was positively correlated with cumulative N2O emissions from the tested soils.The highly acid soils(pH<4.5)showed greater fungal nirK gene abundance and lower abundance of AOA-amoA,AOB-amoA,nirK,nosZ I and nosZ II genes.The unclassified Aspergillaceae fungi(63.65%)dominated the highly acidic soils and was the most strongly correlated genus with N2O emissions.These findings highlight that soil microbial community structures,denitrifying fungi in particular,shaped by low pH(pH<4.5)lead to high N2O emissions from acidic soils.Junhui Yin Huaihai Chen Pengpeng Duan Kun Zhu Naihui Li Yan Ma Yumeng Xu Jingheng Guo Rui Liu Qing Chen 2023Soil Ecology Letters2023,5,4:1
9Negative exponential behavior of image mutual information for pseudo-thermal light ghost imaging: observation, modeling, and verification显示文摘When using the image mutual information to assess the quality of reconstructed image in pseudothermal light ghost imaging, a negative exponential behavior with respect to the measurement number is observed. Based on information theory and a few simple and verifiable assumptions, semi-quantitative model of image mutual information under varying measurement numbers is established. It is the Gaussian characteristics of the bucket detector output probability distribution that leads to this negative exponential behavior. 14Jet Formation Mechanism of the Gamma-Ray-emitting Narrow-line Seyfert 1 Galaxies显示文摘We use a large sample of gamma-ray narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies(γ-NLS1 s) to study the jet formation mechanisms. We find that the jet power of γ-NLS1 s is lower than the maximum jet power of the Blandford–Payne(BP) mechanism. At the same time, we find that there is a significant correlation between jet power and accretion disk luminosity. Moreover, the contribution rates of the accretion to the jet power are larger than that of black hole mass to jet power. 18Optical transmitter module with hybrid integration of DFB laser diode and proton-exchanged LiNbO_(3)modulator chip显示文摘In this work,a hybrid integrated optical transmitter module was designed and fabricated.A proton-exchanged Mach–Zehnder lithium niobate(LiNbO_(3))modulator chip was chosen to enhance the output extinction ratio.A fiber was used to adjust the rotation of the polarization direction caused by the optical isolator.The whole optical path structure,including the laser chip,lens,fiber,and modulator chip,was simulated to achieve high optical output efficiency.After a series of process improvements,a module with an output extinction ratio of 34 dB and a bandwidth of 20.5 GHz(from 2 GHz)was obtained.The optical output efficiency of the whole module reached approximately 21%.The link performance of the module was also measured.Xuyang Wang He Jia Junhui Li Yumei Guo Yu Liu 2022Journal of Semiconductors2022,43,6:0
19Synthesis of PEI-Functionalized Magnetic Nanoparticles for Capturing Bacteria显示文摘Polyethyleneimine(PEI) functionalized Fe_3O_4 MNPs were synthesized by a modified hypothermal oxidative hydrolysis method. The magnetic nanoparticles showed positively charged surface, strong magnetic responsivity and uniform particle size distribution at 56.1±0.6 nm. Aggregation of these magnetic nanoparticles were observed on the surface of different type of bacteria. Magnetic capturing of bacteria were facilitated by these magnetic nanoparticles. The capturing efficiency could reach 90% after two rounds of interactions of 5 minutes. The mechanism and process of interactions between bacteria and polyethyleneimine functionalized Fe_3O_4 magnetic nanoparticles were explored and discussed. 20Therapeutic sponge prevents postoperative breast cancer recurrence by sustainably dissociating into CD44-targeted nanoplatform显示文摘Locoregional recurrence and distant metastasis of breast cancer still pose a significant risk for patients’survival.To address the clinical challenge,functional absorbable sponges(HA-SH/PP-Dox/Lap/COL I(HCNPs))were constructed by biomimetic extracellular matrix of collagen I/hyaluronic acid complex conjugated with doxorubicin/lapatinib(Dox/Lap)-loaded nanoparticles.The HCNPs sponge exhibited excellent clotting ability and blood absorption rate.Worthily,Dox/Lap-loaded nanoparticles were synchronously endowed with a large number of oligo hyaluronic acid segments after degradation,which thus enhanced the ability of targeting into CD44-overexpressed tumor cells.The implantable HCNPs sponge in resected cavity of postoperative 4T1 models inhibited the spread of scattered tumor cells by absorbing the inevitable bleeding.More importantly,CD44 targeted nanoparticle with suitable Dox/Lap proportion continuously released from sponge to kill tumor cells of surrounding HCNPs and those remaining at surgical margin,thus prevented local recurrence as well as distant metastasis.Therefore,the functional HCNPs sponge might provide a safer and more effective strategy for postoperative treatment of cancer.Junhui Sui Mingda Zhao Zhihao Guo Jiafeng Li Jie Chen Hongli Chen Jie Liang Yong Sun Xingdong Zhang Yujiang Fan 2024Nano Research2024,17,3:0
