| 1 | Effect of electroacupuncture on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy in patients with malignant tumor:a single-blinded,randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effect of electroacupuncture on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy(CIPN), quality of life and immune status of patients with malignant tumors.METHODS:From Jan, 2013 to May, 2014, 37 patients with malignant tumors were included in this prospective single-blinded study, and randomized to receive either electroacupuncture or acupuncture treatment on basis of chemotherapy.The chemotherapy was continued for 2 courses as previous before the treatments, with 21 days as a course of treatment.Patients received acupuncture and electroacupuncture once per day starting at the day before chemotherapy for consecutive 7 days followed by 14 days off, with 21 days as a course of treatment, and continued for two courses of treatment.Then CIPN, traditional Chinese clinical symptoms,quality of life and immune status were all evaluated for each patient prior treatment and after two courses of treatment.RESULTS:The gender, age, cancer species as well as incidence(83.3% vs 84.2%) and grades of CIPN before treatments were all similar in patients receiving acupuncture or electroacupuncture(all P >0.05).After treatments, most patients with peripheral neuropathy were cured by two courses of electroacupuncture(84.2% vs 21.1%), whereas the other group of patients had similar incidences of peripheral neuropathy compared with prior-acupuncture(83.3% vs 72.2%).Besides, patients receiving electroacupuncture had lower incidence of peripheral neuropathy than those receiving acupuncture treatment(χ~2= 9.745, P = 0.002).The grades of peripheral neuropathy were significantly different in the two groups post-treatment(χ~2= 13.983, P =0.007).The total effective rates for traditional Chinese clinical symptoms were 16.7% and 84.2% in acupuncture and electroacupuncture groups, respectively(Z =-4.239, P < 0.001).The electroacupuncture treatment provided a more satisfactory life for patients compared with acupuncture(Z =-4.76, P < 0.001).Both electroacupuncture and acupuncture had no effects on immune function.CONCLUSION:Electroacupuncture could alleviate CIPN, and improve traditional Chinese clinical symptoms and quality of life, but did not affect immune function. | Zhang Shiqiang Wu Tingting Zhang Haisheng Yang Yun Jiang Haiyan Cao Shengcheng Xie Fang Xia Xiaoting Lü Junqiang Zhong Yi | 2017 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2017,37,2: | 7 |

| 3 | Herbal formula of Bushen Jianpi(补肾健脾方)combined with sorafenib inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma growth by promoting cell apoptosis and blocking the cell cycle显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy of an herbal formula of Bushen Jianpi(补肾健脾方,BSJP)combined with sorafenib on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in vitro and in vivo,and to study the underlying mechanisms of action.METHODS:BSJP,a mixture of 12 raw herbs,was extracted in 70%alcohol/30%water and freeze-dried into a powder.The in vitro effects of BSJP alone,sorafenib alone,and their combination on cell survival,apoptosis,and cell cycle distribution were evaluated in HCC cell lines HCCLM3,HepG2,and SMMC-7721.The expression of B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2),caspase-3,and caspase-9 in HCCLM3 cells was measured using Western blots after drug administration.The in vivo effects of BSJP and sorafenib were evaluated in a tumor surgical resection model using 4-week old male athymic BALB/c nude mice injected with HCCLM3 cells.Immunohistochemical analysis of tumor tissues was performed to evaluate the effects of BSJP alone,sorafenib alone,and their combination on the expression of caspase-3,caspase-9,and Bcl-2.RESULTS:BSJP decreased the survival rate of HCC cell lines,and the combination of BSJP and sorafenib further decreased the survival rate.BSJP significantly promoted cell apoptosis and blocked cell-cycle progression in HCCLM3,HepG2,and SMMC-7721 cells in a dose-dependent manner.Furthermore,the administration of BSJP and sorafenib inhibited the growth of HCCLM3 cell xenografts in nude mice,with no reduction in body weight.In vivo and in vitro experiments showed that BSJP combined with sorafenib could significantly decrease the expression of Bcl-2.CONCLUSION:Our findings suggest that the herbal formula of BSJP is a potential HCC antitumor agent. | ZHOU Zhangjie LIU Xinhua WU Tingting QUE Zujue WU Zhonghua WU Weizhong FU Shujuan ZHANG Shiqiang YANG Yun JIANG Haiyan XIA Xiaoting LV Junqiang DU Boqian LI Yun LU Tao ZHANG Zhihui ZHONG Yi | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,2: | 3 |

| 5 | Linearization of Multi-Valued Nonlinear Feedback Shift Registers显示文摘Nonlinear feedback shift registers(NFSRs) have been used in many stream ciphers for cryptographic security. The linearization of NFSRs is to describe their state transitions using some matrices. Such matrices are called their state transition matrices. Compared to extensive work on binary NFSRs, much less work has been done on multi-valued NFSRs. This paper uses a semi-tensor product approach to investigate the linearization of multi-valued NFSRs, by viewing them as logical networks. A new state transition matrix is found for a multi-valued NFSR, which can be simply computed from the truth table of its feedback function. The new state transition matrix is easier to compute and is more explicit than the existing results. | 6 | Effects of a combination of Japanese Raisin Tree Seed and Flower of Lobed Kudzuvine against acute alcohol-induced liver injury in mice显示文摘Objective:The Flower of Lobed Kudzuvine[Pueraria lobata(Willd.)Ohwi;Gehua in Chinese;GH]and Japanese Raisin Tree Seed(Hovenia dulcis Thunnb.;Zhijuzi in Chinese;ZJZ)are herbs that have been used in China for the treatment of alcohol intoxication and liver diseases.We aimed to evaluate the hepatoprotective potential of a combination of these in mice with acute alcohol-induced liver injury,and to elucidate the mechanisms involved.Methods:Male ICR mice were randomly allocated to six groups:a control group,an alcohol-administered group,and groups that were administered alcohol and one of silibinin,the GH,the ZJZ or a GH-ZJZ combination(at a ratio of 2:1).Animals were orally administered 56%alcohol(Er Guo-tou white spirit,0.12 mL/10 g/d)for 10 days and at the end of this period,hepatic biochemical indicators,antioxidant parameters,alcohol metabolic enzymes,and histopathologic changes were evaluated.Moreover,the expression of the signaling molecules KEAP1,NRF2,and AQP9 were measured by qRT-PCR and western blotting.Results:Compared with the model group,GH-ZJZ(2:1)had lower serum ALT(12.15±0.39,P紏.003),AST(104.07±1.03,P紏.001),and ALP(148.09±2.55,P紏.010)activities,and lower TC(1.97±0.05,P紏.001)and TG(1.54±0.07,P?.002)concentrations.GH-ZJZ(2:1)also significantly increased the hepatic activities of SOD and GSH(4.24±0.25 and 1.57±0.06,respectively;both P<.01),reduced the ROS and MDA concentrations(97.50±3.00 and 2.39±0.19,respectively;both P<.01),and upregulated Nrf2 expression(P<.01).GH-ZJZ(2:1)significantly reduced the expression of KEAP1 and AQP9 in the liver,compared with alcohol-administered mice(P<.01).Importantly,the GH-ZJZ combination caused a more marked improvement in acute liver injury than GH or ZJZ alone.Conclusion:We have demonstrated protective effects of GH-ZJZ(2:1)against acute alcohol-induced hepatic injury,and shown that these effects may be associated with improvements in lipid and alcohol metabolism,antioxidant capacity,and lipid peroxidation. | Wan Xu Shaohong Chen Gansheng Zhong Haiyan Liu Linlin Xiu Xue Yu Feng Chen Na Li Yanmin Lv | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2020,7,1: | 2 |
