1Essential oil and aromatic plants as feed additives in non-ruminant nutrition:a review显示文摘This paper summarizes the current knowledge regarding the possible modes of action and nutritional factors involved in the use of essential oils(EOs) for swine and poultry.EOs have recently attracted increased interest as feed additives to be fed to swine and poultry,possibly replacing the use of antibiotic growth promoters which have been prohibited in the European Union since 2006.In general,EOs enhance the production of digestive secretions and nutrient absorption,reduce pathogenic stress in the gut,exert antioxidant properties and reinforce the animal's immune status,which help to explain the enhanced performance observed in swine and poultry.However,the mechanisms involved in causing this growth promotion are far from being elucidated,since data on the complex gut ecosystem,gut function,in vivo oxidative status and immune system are still lacking.In addition,limited information is available regarding the interaction between EOs and feed ingredients or other feed additives(especially pro- or prebiotics and organic acids).This knowledge may help feed formulators to better utilize EOs when they formulate diets for poultry and swine.Zhikai Zeng Sai Zhang Hongliang Wang Xiangshu Piao 2016Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2016,7,1:19
2Complement C3 activation regulates the production of tRNA-derived fragments Gly-tRFs and promotes alcohol-induced liver injury and steatosis显示文摘Complement is known to play a role in alcoholic fatty liver disease (AFLD), but the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood, thereby constraining the development of a rational approach for therapeutic intervention in the complement system. C3 deficiency has been shown to impart protective effects against ethanol-induced hepatic steatosis and inflammation. Here we demonstrate a protection effect in wild-type mice by treatment with CR2-Crry, a specific inhibitor of C3 activation. The expression of glycine transfer (t) RNA-derived fragments (Gly-tRFs) is upregulated in ethanol-fed mice and inhibition of Gly-tRFs in vivo decreases chronic ethanol feeding-induced hepatosteatosis without affecting inflammation. The expression of Gly-tRF was downregulated in C3-deficient or CR2-Crry-treated mice, but not in C5-deficient mice;Gly-tRF expression was restored by the C3 activation products C3a or Asp (C3a-des-Arg) via the regulation of CYP2E1. Transcriptome profiling of hepatic tissues showed that Gly-tRF inhibitors upregulate the expression of sirtuin1 (Sirt1) and subsequently affect downstream lipogenesis and β-oxidation pathways. Mechanistically, Gly-tRF interacts with AGO3 to downregulate Sirt1 expression via sequence complementarity in the 3′ UTR. Notably, the expression levels of C3d, CYP2E1 and Gly-tRF are upregulated, whereas Sirt1 is decreased in AFLD patients compared to healthy controls. Collectively, our findings suggest that C3 activation products contribute to hepatosteatosis by regulating the expression of Gly-tRF. 4Manipulation of Band Degeneracy and Lattice Strain for Extraordinary PbTe Thermoelectrics显示文摘Maximizing band degeneracy and minimizing phonon relaxation time are proven to be successful for advancing thermoelectrics.Alloying with monotellurides has been known to be an effective approach for converging the valence bands of PbTe for electronic improvements,while the lattice thermal conductivity of the materials remains available room for being further reduced.It is recently revealed that the broadening of phonon dispersion measures the strength of phonon scattering,and lattice dislocations are particularly effective sources for such broadening through lattice strain fluctuations.In this work,a fine control of MnTe and EuTe alloying enables a significant increase in density of electron states near the valence band edge of PbTe due to involvement of multiple transporting bands,while the creation of dense in-grain dislocations leads to an effective broadening in phonon dispersion for reduced phonon lifetime due to the large strain fluctuations of dislocations as confirmed by synchrotron X-ray diffraction.The synergy of both electronic and thermal improvements successfully leads the average thermoelectric figure of merit to be higher than that ever reported for p-type PbTe at working temperatures.Yixuan Wu Pengfei Nan Zhiwei Chen Zezhu Zeng Siqi Lin Xinyue Zhang Hongliang Dong Zhiqiang Chen Hongkai Gu Wen Li Yue Chen Binghui Ge Yanzhong Pei 2020Research2020,,1:6
5Abiogenic hydrocarbons in commercial gases from the Songliao Basin,China显示文摘This paper discusses the kinetic fractionation, composition and distribution characteristics of carbon and hydrogen isotopes for various alkane gases formed in different environments, by different mecha- nisms and from different sources in nature. It is demonstrated that the biodegradation or thermode- gradation of complex high-molecule sedimentary organic material can form microbial gas or thermogenic gas. The δ 13C1 value ranges from -110‰ to -50‰ for microbial gases but from -50‰ to -35‰ (even heavier) for thermogenic gases. Controlled by the kinetic isotope fractionation, both microbial and thermogenic gases have δ 13C and δ D values characterized by normal distribution, i.e. δ 13C1< δ 13C2< δ 13C3< δ 13C4 and δ DCH4< δ DC2H6< δ DC3H8<δ DC4H10, and by a positive correlation between the δ 13C and δ D values. Simple carbonbearing molecules (CH4, CO and CO2) can form abiogenic alkane gases via polymerization in the abiological chemical process in nature, with δ 13C1 heavier than -30‰. Moreover, controlled by the kinetic isotope fractionation, abiogenic alkane gases are characterized by a reverse distribution of δ 13C values and a normal trend of δ D values, namely δ 13C1> δ 13C2> δ 13C3> δ 13C4 and δ DCH4<δ DC2H6< δ DC3H8< δ DC4H10. The δ 13C values and δ D values are negatively correlated. Natural gases from 26 commercial gas wells distributed in the Xujiaweizi and Yingshan-Miaotaizi faulted depressions in the Songliao Basin, China, show δ13C1 values ranging from -30.5‰ to -16.7‰ with a very narrow δ D range between -203‰―-196‰. These gases are characterized by a reverse distribution of δ 13C values but a normal distribution of δ D values, and a negative correlation between their δ 13C and δ D values, indicating an abiological origin. The present study has revealed that abiogenic hydrocarbons not only exist in nature but also can make significant contribution to commercial gas reserviors. It is estimated that the reserve volume of alkane gases with abiogenic characteristics in these 26 gas wells in the Songliao Basin is over 500×108 m3. 6Inhibition of inflammatory mediator release from microglia can treat ischemic/hypoxic brain injury显示文摘Interleukin-1α and interleukin-1β aggravate neuronal injury by mediating the inflammatory reaction following ischemic/hypoxic brain injury. It remains unclear whether interleukin-1α and interleukin-1β are released by microglia or astrocytes. This study prepared hippocampal slices that were subsequently subjected to oxygen and glucose deprivation. Hematoxylin-eosin staining verified that neurons exhibited hypoxic changes. Results of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay found that interleukin-1α and interleukin-1β participated in this hypoxic process. Moreover, when hypoxic injury occurred in the hippocampus, the release of interleukin-1α and interleukin-1β was mediated by the P2X4 receptor and P2X7 receptor. Immunofluorescence staining revealed that during ischemia/hypoxia, the P2X4 receptor, P2X7 receptor, interleukin-1α and interleukin-1β expression was detectable in rat hippocampal microglia, but only P2X4 receptor and P2X7 receptor expression was detected in astrocytes. Results suggested that the P2X4 receptor and P2X7 receptor, respectively, mediated interleukin-1α and interleukin-1β released by microglia, resulting in hippocampal ischemic/hypoxic injury. 7High prevalence of pathogenic Leptospira in wild and domesticated animals in an endemic area of China显示文摘Objective:To assess the prevalence of Leptospira detected in wildlife and domesticated animals in Jiangxi Province,China,in 2009.Methods:Urine samples from 28 buffaloes and kidney samples from 50 pigs,50 dogs and 38 rats were collected from Fuliang and Shangrao County,Jiangxi Province,China,in October 2009.Polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and culture analyses were used to detect Leptospira.The cultured isolates were typed using the microscopic agglutination lest(MAT).Results:The results showed that rats potentially serve as the main reservoir of leptospiral infection,followed by dogs.Although 16%of rats(6/38) were positive using culture analysis,PCR analysis using the diagnostic primers G1/G2 and B64Ⅰ/B64Ⅱor lipLS2 showed identification as 50%and 24%,respectively,of the rat samples as positive for the presence of leptospiral DNA.Conclusions:PCR-based detection of leptospiral DNA in infected kidney tissues of reservoirs is more efficient when using G1/G2 primers than lipL32 primers. 15Temporal-spatial Analysis on Urban and Rural Drinking Water Health Monitoring of Tianjin in 2013显示文摘[Objective] Grasp quality and health status of drinking water,and provide scientific basis for decision making of health administrative department. [Method]According to the Standards for Drinking Water Quality( GB 5749- 2006),monitoring results of Tianjin urban and rural drinking water health in 2013 were evaluated,and software SPSS 20. 0 and GeoD a was used for temporal-spatial analysis on water quality. [Result]There were 2 882 copies of monitoring samples in total,in which both finished water and tap water of urban district were qualified,while qualified rates of tap water and secondary water supply from the county were respectively 86. 36% and 93. 91%,and major exceeding indexes were pH and total number of colonies. Qualified rates of tap water and secondary water supply from the county had difference( χ2= 1 576. 875,P < 0. 01). Quality of tap water( χ2= 5. 425,P > 0. 05) and secondary water supply( χ2= 16. 009,P > 0. 05) was stable at temporal distribution( January-December),but spatial distribution of tap water had certain regional difference( χ2= 1 255. 802,P < 0. 01). [Conclusion] General quality situation of Tianjin urban and rural drinking water was better,but qualified rate of water quality in some counties was lower,which had safety risk and threatened the health of residents in the corresponding county. The related departments should enhance the supervision and management of drinking water supply,improve supply water quality,strengthen water quality monitoring,and guarantee drinking water safety.
