2One-dimensional numerical simulation of non-uniform sediment transport under unsteady flows显示文摘One-dimensional numerical models are popularly used in sediment transport research because they can be easily programmed and cost less time compared with two-and three-dimensional numerical models.In particular,they possess greater capacity to be applied in large river basins with many tributaries.This paper presents a one-dimensional numerical model capable of calculating total-load sediment transport.The cross-section-averaged sediment transport capacity and recovery coefficient are addressed in the suspended load model.This one-dimensional model,therefore,can be applied to fine suspended loads and to hyperconcentrated flows in the Yellow River.Moreover,a new discretization scheme for the equation of unsteady non-uniform suspended sediment transport is proposed.The model is calibrated using data measured from the Yantan Reservoir on the Hongshui River and the Sanmenxia Reservoir on the Yellow River.A comparison of the calculated water level and river bed deformation with field measurements shows that the improved numerical model is capable of predicting flow,sediment transport,bed changes,and bed-material sorting in various situations,with reasonable accuracy and reliability.Hongwei FANG Minghong CHEN Qianhai CHEN 2008International Journal of Sediment Research2008,23,4:24
3QTG-Seq Accelerates QTL Fine Mapping through QTL Partitioning and Whole-Genome Sequencing of Bulked Segregant Samples显示文摘Deciphering the genetic mechanisms underlying agronomic traits is of great importance for crop improvement. Most of these traits are controlled by multiple quantitative trait loci (QTLs), and identifying the underlying genes by conventional QTL fine-mapping is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Here, we devised a new method, named quantitative trait gene sequencing (QTG-seq), to accelerate QTL fine-mapping. QTGseq combines QTL partitioning to convert a quantitative trait into a near-qualitative trait, sequencing of bulked segregant pools from a large segregating population, and the use of a robust new algorithm for identifying candidate genes. Using QTG-seq, we fine-mapped a plant-height QTL in maize (Zea mays L.), qPH7, to a 300-kb genomic interval and verified that a gene encoding an NF-YC transcription factor was the functional gene. Functional analysis suggested that qPH7-encoding protein might influence plant height by interacting with a CO-like protein and an AP2 domain-containing protein. Selection footprint ana卜 ysis indicated that qPH7 was subject to strong selection during maize improvement. 5Experiment on surface charge distribution of fine sediment显示文摘Surface charge distribution of particles is the fundamental problem for adsorption and desorption between sediment and contaminant. In this paper, we take quartz sand for example to measure its micro-morphology and surface charge distribution using the phase mode of the electrical force microscope. Then the statistical relation of micro-morphology and surface charge distribution is obtained. Results show that quartz sand possesses complex surface morphology, which has great impact on the charge distribution. Positive and negative charges mostly concentrate on the saddle, convex and concave parts of the surface, while distribute less in the groove, ridge and flat parts. 6Aftershock sequence relocation of the 2021 M_(S)7.4 Maduo Earthquake, Qinghai, China显示文摘The 2021 Qinghai Maduo M_(S)7.4 earthquake was one of the strongest earthquakes that occurred in the Bayan Har block of the Tibetan Plateau during the past 30 years,which spatially filled in the gap of strong earthquake in the eastern section of the northern block boundary.In this study,the aftershock sequence within 8 days after the mainshock was relocated by double difference algorithm.The results show that the total length of the aftershock zone is approximately 170 km;the mainshock epicenter is located in the center of the aftershock zone,indicating a bilateral rupture.The aftershocks are mainly distributed along NWW direction with an overall strike of 285°.The focal depth profiles indicate that the seismogenic fault is nearly vertical and dips to southwest or northeast in different sections,indicating a complex geometry.There is an aftershock gap located to the southeast of the mainshock epicenter with a scale of approximately 20 km.At the eastern end of the aftershock zone,horsetaillike branch faults show the terminal effect of a large strike-slip fault.There is a NW-trending aftershock zone on the north side of the western section,which may be a branch fault triggered by the mainshock.The location of the aftershock sequence is close to the eastern section of the Kunlun Mountain Pass-Jiangcuo(KMPJ)fault.The sequence overlaps well with surface trace of the KMPJ fault.We speculate that the KMPJ fault is the main seismogenic fault of the M_(S)7.4 Maduo earthquake.Weilai WANG Lihua FANG Jianping WU Hongwei TU Liyi CHEN Guijuan LAI Long ZHANG 2021Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,8:11

10Analysis of the complex morphology of sediment particle surface based on electron microscope images显示文摘The morphology of sediment particles plays an important role in interfacial interactions.The difficulties in complex morphological description significantly limit the research on interfacial interactions.In this study,images of a single sediment particle extracted from electron microscope photos were used to analyze the gray values and present the probability of shape of the sediment particles.Moreover,the morphological features of the sediment particles were qualitatively described using the fractal method(surface area-volume method).The fractal dimension D of a single sediment particle was calculated to analyze the features and quantitative complexity of the sediment particle morphology.Results indicate that the probability of shape can provide intuitive morphological structure and fully describe the complex morphological characteristics of sediment particle surfaces.The fractal dimension abstractly described the complexity of the morphology of a sediment particle surface and matched well with the experimental results.The methods discussed in this study are suitable for describing the complex morphology of the sediment particle surface and lay the scientific foundation for further research on the interfacial interaction between the sediment particle and the pollutant.CHEN ZhiHe FANG HongWei 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,2:9
11The Chinese Hα Solar Explorer(CHASE) mission: An overview显示文摘The Chinese Hα Solar Explorer(CHASE), dubbed “Xihe”—Goddess of the Sun, was launched on October 14, 2021 as the first solar space mission of China National Space Administration(CNSA). The CHASE mission is designed to test a newly developed satellite platform and to acquire the spectroscopic observations in the Hα waveband. The Hα Imaging Spectrograph(HIS)is the scientific payload of the CHASE satellite. It consists of two observational modes: raster scanning mode and continuum imaging mode. The raster scanning mode obtains full-Sun or region-of-interest spectral images from 6559.7 to 6565.9 ? and from 6567.8 to 6570.6 ? with 0.024 ? pixel spectral resolution and 1 min temporal resolution. The continuum imaging mode obtains photospheric images in continuum around 6689 ? with the full width at half maximum of 13.4 ?. The CHASE mission will advance our understanding of the dynamics of solar activity in the photosphere and chromosphere. 12Surface pore tension and adsorption characteristics of polluted sediment显示文摘Most natural sediment particles have numerous pores and a complex surface texture which facilitates their adsorption of contaminants. Particle surface structure,therefore,is an important instrumental factor in the transport of contaminants,especially in water environments. This paper reports on the results of adsorption-desorption experiments to analyze polluted sediment surface pore tension characteristics performed on samples from the bottom of Guanting Reservoir. In our analysis,the Frenkel-Halsey-Hill(FHH) equation is applied to calculate the fractal dimensions of particles to quantify the surface roughness and pore tension characteristics. The results show that the surface fractal dimensions of sediment particle surfaces normally measure from 2.6 to 2.85. 13Experimental and DFT study on cerium inclusions in clean steels显示文摘To provide insights into deforming Ce-O-S-Al inclusions in steels and improving the mechanical properties,the evolution process of such harmful inclusions in clean steels was investigated by thermodynamic calculation,metallographic examination and first-principles calculation in this paper.For the tested IF steel,the thermodynamic analysis results are consistent with the calculated formation enthalpy.After Ce addition,the inclusions are transformed from Al_(2)O_(3)and TiN-Al_(2)TiO_(5)-Al_(2)O_(3)to Ce2O_(3),Ce_(2)O_(2)S,CeAlO_(3),TiN-Al_(2)TiO_(5)-Ce_(2)O_(3)and TiN-Al_(2)TiO_(5)-Ce_(2)O_(2)S composite inclusions,which can be confirmed by metallographic examination.The elastic constants were calculated,and the bulk modulus,Young's modulus,shear modulus and Poisson's ratio were evaluated by the Voigt-Reuss-Hill(VRH)approximation.All inclusions except Ce_(2)O_(3)show apparent brittleness.TiN,Al_(2)O_(3),Al_(2)TiO_(5)and CeAlO_(3)present much higher hardness than iron matrix,while the hardness of Ce2O_(3)or Ce_(2)O_(2)S is close to that of iron matrix.The thermal expansion coefficients of Ce_(2)O_(3)and CeAlO_(3)are close to that of iron matrix,whereas,Ce_(2)O_(2)S inclusion has largely different thermal expansion coefficient from iron matrix and may deteriorate the steel performance at higher temperatures.The relatively small differences between Ce inclusions and iron matrix in terms of hardness,toughness,brittleness,and thermal expansion coefficient can explain the improvement of the mechanical properties of the tested steel.Xiangjun Liu Jichun Yang Fang Zhang Xiaoyang Fu Hongwei Li Changqiao Yang 2021Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,4:6
14Dark matter direct search sensitivity of the PandaX-4T experiment显示文摘The Panda X-4T experiment, a 4-ton scale dark matter direct detection experiment, is being planned at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. In this paper we present a simulation study of the expected background in this experiment. In a 2.8-ton fiducial mass and the signal region between 1-10 keV electron equivalent energy, the total electron recoil background is found to be 4.9 × 10^(-5) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). The nuclear recoil background in the same region is 2.8 × 10^(-7) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). 15Symmetry energy dependence of the pygmy and giant dipole resonances in an isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics model显示文摘Isospin-dependent Quantum Molecular Dynamics model (IQMD) has been applied to investigate the Pygmy Dipole Resonance (PDR) and Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR) in Ni isotopes by Coulomb excitation. By Gaussian fitting to the photon emission spectra, the peak energies and strengths of PDR and GDR are extracted. Their sensitivities to impact parameter, incident energy and the symmetry energy are discussed. By the comparison of energy-weighted sum rule (EWSR) with the data and other calculations for 68 Ni, the parameters of density-dependence of symmetry energy in the IQMD are constrained. 16Combined amendment reduces soil Cd availability and rice Cd accumulation in three consecutive rice planting seasons显示文摘The scientific application of stabilized materials has been considered an effective method for the in situ remediation of Cd-contaminated soil.This study aimed to investigate the persistence of the effect of a combined amendment of limestone and sepiolite(LS)on soil Cd availability and accumulation in rice grown in a mildly Cd-contaminated paddy field(0.45 mg/kg of Cd)over three consecutive rice seasons.1125–4500 kg/ha of LS was applied to the soil before the first rice planting season and 562.5–2250 kg/ha of LS was supplemented before the third rice planting season.The application of LS(1125–4500 kg/ha)increased the soil p H by 0.44–1.09,0.18–0.53,and 0.42–0.68 in the first,second,and third season,respectively,and decreased the soil acid-extractable Cd content by 18.2–36.4%,17.7–33.5%,and9.6–17.6%.LS application significantly decreased the Cd contents in the rice tissues.The application of 4500 kg/ha of LS decreased the Cd content in brown rice to below the National Food Limit Standard of 0.2 mg/kg(GB 2762-2017)in the three consecutive rice seasons.However,the effect of LS on the soil-rice system was significantly weakened in the third season.The supplementary application of 562.5–2250 kg/ha of LS further decreased the Cd content in brown rice by 26.1–56.5%and decreased the health risk index by 23.7–43.8%.Therefore,it was recommended to apply 4500 kg/ha of LS in the first season and to supplement2250 kg/ha of LS in the third season to effectively guarantee the clean production of rice in three consecutive rice seasons.Wenjun Yang Shilong Wang Hang Zhou Min Zeng Jingyi Zhang Fang Huang Shiping Shan Zhaohui Guo Hongwei Yi Zhiguang Sun Jiaofeng Gu Bohan Liao 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,1:4

18Luminescence of halophosphate solid-solution Ca5(PO4)3(F0.8Cl0.2):Eu^2+,Mn^2+ for WLED显示文摘Solid-solution based luminescent materials have been widely explored due to their tunable optical properties in recent years. In this work, instead of more common cation-substitution approach, we investigated the luminescence properties of Eu^(2+) and Mn^(2+) co-doped halophosphate solid solution Ca_5(PO_4)_3(F_(0.8)Cl_(0.2)) via anion substitution synthesized by high temperature solid state reaction method.The formation of the solid solution was confirmed by X-ray diffraction(XRD) characterization, which indicates that the introduction of certain proportion of Cl^-will not make significant change on the Ca_5(PO_4)_3F lattice. We also studied the energy transfer from Eu^(2+) to Mn^(2+) in the host so as to obtain white light emission via adjusting the doping concentrations of Eu^(2+) and Mn^(2+). The white light emission was achieved through combination of Eu^(2+) blue emission and Mn^(2+) red-orange emission with appropriate proportions. 19HBB-deficient Macaca fascicularis monkey presents with human β-thalassemia显示文摘Dear Editor,β-Thalassemia is a common severe genetic disease caused by mutations in HBB and affects approximately 1.5% of the global population (Origa, 2017). In southern China, the carrier rate of β-thalassemia is as high as 6.43%, creating a high socio-economic burden (Xiong et al., 2010). In adult humans, there are three types of hemoglobin: HbA1 (~97%), HbA2 (~2%) and HbF (~1%). HbA1 (α2β2) is composed of two a-globin and two β-globi n sub units en coded by HBA and HBB, respectively;HbF (α2β2)is made up of two α-globin subunits and two β-globin sub units en coded by HBG. Mutations in the coding region or regulatory region of HBB are involved in β-thalassemia pathogenesis. Except for some rare dominant mutations, most HBB mutations are recessive (Origa, 2017). Depending on the mutation type, the β-globin level will either be reduced or completely depleted, resulting in α-globin accumulation and precipitation. These α-globin precipitates lead to red blood cell death, resulting in anemia and tissue damage, and even death in thalassemia major patients. Blood transfusions can help slow disease progression but lead to iron overload, ultimately resulting in iron toxicity. Bone marrow transfer is the only cure in the clinic and is available only to a small percentage of patients with human leukocyte antigervmatched donors. Recently, gene therapy and gene editing therapy have shown great promise in curing β-thalassemia (Glaser et al., 2015;Thompson et al., 2018). However, no appropriate animal models are available for evaluating the safety and efficacy of such advanced therapeutic strategies in vivo.β-thalassemia mice are the sole animal model available for research. However, substantial differences have been reported between the types and expressi on patter ns of human and mouse globins (McColl and Vadolas, 2016). Moreover, mice contain no fetal globin gene equivalent, and homozygous mutations of HBB in mouse for early models of β-thalassemia major or Cooley anemia are all embryonic lethal (Huo et al., 2009). Recently, significant phenotype and physiology differences have been reported between SIRT6- null mice and the non-human primate model (Zhang et al., 2018). A more uniform Gauss configuration without additional beam shaping and a relatively high power of the SLD have a potential for atomic magnetometers, which is demonstrated in theory and experiments.
