2Application of waste frying oils in the biosynthesis of biodemulsifier by a demulsifying strain Alcaligenes sp.S-XJ-1显示文摘Exploration of biodemulsifiers has become a new research aspect.Using waste frying oils(WFOs) as carbon source to synthesize biodemulsifiers has a potential prospect to decrease production cost and to improve the application of biodemulsifiers in the oilfield.In this study,a demulsifying strain,Alcaligenes sp.S-XJ-1,was investigated to synthesize a biodemulsifier using waste frying oils as carbon source.It was found that the increase of initial pH of culture medium could increase the biodemulsifier yield but decrease the demulsification ratio compared to that using paraffin as carbon source.In addition,a biodemulsifier produced by waste frying oils and paraffin as mixed carbon source had a lower demulsification capability compared with that produced by paraffin or waste frying oil as sole carbon source.Fed-batch fermentation of biodemulsifier using waste frying oils as supplementary carbon source was found to be a suitable method.Mechanism of waste frying oils utilization was studied by using tripalmitin,olein and tristearin as sole carbon sources to synthesize biodemulsifier.The results showed saturated long-chain fatty acid was diffcult for S-XJ-1 to utilize but could effectively enhance the demulsification ability of the produced biodemulsifier.Moreover,FT-IR result showed that the demulsification capability of biodemulsifiers was associated with the content of C=O group and nitrogen element.Jia Liu Kaiming Peng Xiangfeng Huang Lijun Lu Hang Cheng Dianhai Yang Qi Zhou Huiping Deng 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,6:4
3Ultrafast growth of large single crystals of monolayer WS2 and WSe2显示文摘Monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)have attracted considerable attention as atomically thin semiconductors for the ultimate transistor scaling.For practical applications in integrated electronics,large monolayer single crystals are essential for ensuring consistent electronic properties and high device yield.The TMDs available today are generally obtained by mechanical exfoliation or chemical vapor deposition(CVD)growth,but are often of mixed layer thickness,limited single crystal domain size or have very slow growth rate.Scalable and rapid growth of large single crystals of monolayer TMDs requires maximization of lateral growth rate while completely suppressing the vertical growth,which represents a fundamental synthetic challenge and has motivated considerable efforts.Herein we report a modified CVD approach with controllable reverse flow for rapid growth of large domain single crystals of monolayer TMDs.With the use of reverse flow to precisely control the chemical vapor supply in the thermal CVD process,we can effectively prevent undesired nucleation before reaching optimum growth temperature and enable rapid nucleation and growth of monolayer TMD single crystals at a high temperature that is difficult to attain with use of a typical thermal CVD process.We show that monolayer single crystals of 450μm lateral size can be prepared in 10 s,with the highest lateral growth rate up to 45μm/s.Electronic characterization shows that the resulting monolayer WSe2 material exhibits excellent electronic properties with carrier mobility up to 90 cm^2 V^-1 s^-1,comparable to that of the best exfoliated monolayers.Our study provides a robust pathway for rapid growth of high-quality TMD single crystals.Zhengwei Zhang Peng Chen Xiangdong Yang Yuan Liu Huifang Ma Jia Li Bei Zhao Jun Luo Xidong Duan Xiangfeng Duan 2020National Science Review2020,7,4:4
4Machine Learning Models for Genetic Risk Assessment of Infants with Non-syndromic Orofacial Cleft显示文摘The isolated type of orofacial cleft, termed non-syndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate(NSCL/P), is the second most common birth defect in China, with Asians having the highest incidence in the world. NSCL/P involves multiple genes and complex interactions between genetic and environmental factors, imposing difficulty for the genetic assessment of the unborn fetus carrying multiple NSCL/P-susceptible variants. Although genome-wide association studies(GWAS)have uncovered dozens of single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) loci in different ethnic populations, the genetic diagnostic effectiveness of these SNPs requires further experimental validation in Chinese populations before a diagnostic panel or a predictive model covering multiple SNPs can be built. In this study, we collected blood samples from control and NSCL/P infants inHan and Uyghur Chinese populations to validate the diagnostic effectiveness of 43 candidate SNPs previously detected using GWAS. We then built predictive models with the validated SNPs using different machine learning algorithms and evaluated their prediction performance. Our results showed that logistic regression had the best performance for risk assessment according to the area under curve. Notably, defective variants in MTHFR and RBP4, two genes involved in folic acid and vitamin A biosynthesis, were found to have high contributions to NSCL/P incidence based on feature importance evaluation with logistic regression. This is consistent with the notion that folic acid and vitamin A are both essential nutritional supplements for pregnant women to reduce the risk of conceiving an NSCL/P baby. 5Enhancement of oxygen reduction reaction activity by grain boundaries in platinum nanostructures显示文摘Systematic control of grain boundary densities in various platinum(Pt)nanostructures was achieved by specific peptide-assisted assembly and coagulation of nanocrystals.A positive quadratic correlation was observed between the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)specific activities of the Pt nanostructures and the grain boundary densities on their surfaces.Compared to commercial Pt/C,the grain-boundary-rich strain-free Pt ultrathin nanoplates demonstrated a 15.5 times higher specific activity and a 13.7 times higher mass activity.Simulation studies suggested that the specific activity of ORR was proportional to the resident number and the resident time of oxygen on the catalyst surface,both of which correlate positively with grain boundary density,leading to improved ORR activities.Enbo Zhu Wang Xue Shiyi Wang Xucheng Yan Jingxuan Zhou Yang Liu Jin Cai Ershuai Liu Qingying Jia Xiangfeng Duan Yujing Li Hendrik Heinz Yu Huang 2020Nano Research2020,13,12:3
6Direct van der Waals epitaxial growth of 1D/2D Sb2Se3/WS2 mixed-dimensional p-n heterojunctions显示文摘The mixed-dimensional integration of two-dimensional (2D) materials with non-2D materials can give rise to prominent advances in performance or function.To date,the mixed-dimensional one-dimensional (1D)/2D heterostructures have been fabricated using various physical assembly approaches.However,direct epitaxial growth method which has notable advantages in preparing large-scale products and obtaining perfect interfaces is rarely investigated.Herein,we demonstrate for the first time the direct synthesis of the 1D/2D mixed-dimensional heterostructures by sequential vapor-phase growth of Sb2Se3 nanowires on WS2 monolayers.X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and Raman spectrum confirm the composition of the Sb2Se3/NS2 heterostructures.Transmission electron microscope (TEM) measurement demonstrates high quality of the heterostructures.Electrical transport characterization reveals that Sb2Se3 nanowire exhibits p-type characteristic and that WS2 monolayer exhibits n-type behavior,and that the p-n diode from 1D/2D mixed-dimensional Sb2Se3/WS2 heterostructure possesses obvious current rectification behavior.Optoelectronic measurements of the heterostructures show apparent photovoltaic response with an open-circuit voltage of 0.19 V,photoresponsivity of 1.51 A/W (Vds =5 V) and fast response time of less than 8 ms.The van der Waals epitaxial growth mode of Sb2Se3 nanowires on WS2 monolayers is verified by stripping the Sb2Se3 nanowire from the heterostructures using tape.Together,the direct van der Waals epitaxy opens a facile pathway to 1D/2D mixed-dimensional heterostructures for functional electronic and optoelectronic devices.Guangzhuang Sun Bo Li Jia Li Zhengwei Zhang Huifang Ma Peng Chen Bei Zhao Ruixia Wu Weiqi Dang Xiangdong Yang Xuwan Tang Chen Dai Ziwei Huang Yuan Liu Xidong Duan Xiangfeng Duan 2019Nano Research2019,12,5:2
7Selective growth of wide band gap atomically thin Sb2O3 inorganic molecular crystal on WS2显示文摘Heterostructures combined by different individual two-dimensional(2D)materials are essential building blocks to realize unique electronic,optoelectronic properties and multifunctional applications.To date,the direct growth of 2D/2D atomic van der Waals heterostructures(vdWHs)have been extensively investigated.However,the heterostructures from 2D inorganic molecular crystals and atomic crystals have been rarely reported.Here we report two-step direct epitaxial growth of the inorganic molecular-atomic Sb2O3/WS2 vdWHs.The thickness of Sb2O3 nanosheets on WS2 nanosheets can be tuned by variable growth temperatures.Oriented growth behavior of Sb2O3 on WS2 was determined through statistics.Optical images,Raman spectra,Raman mappings and selected-area electron diffraction(SAED),etc.,reveal that Sb2O3/WS2 heterostructures are vertically stacked with high crystal quality.Electrical transport measurements demonstrate that the heterotransistors based on the heterostructures possess high current on/off ratio of 5 × 10^5,obvious gate-tunable and current rectification output characteristics.Optoelectronic characterizations show that the heterostructures have a clear photoresponse with high responsivity of 16.4 AW.The growth of vdWHs from 2D inorganic molecular-atomic crystals may open up new opportunities in 2D functional electronics and optoelectronics.Guangzhuang Sun Bo Li Shifa Wang Zhengwei Zhang Jia Li Xidong Duan Xiangfeng Duan 2019Nano Research2019,12,11:2
8Effects of Municipal Sewage Sludge on Fixation of Cr,Ni,Cu,and Zn during Co-processing of Heavy Metal-containing Waste in Cement Kilns显示文摘Cement raw meal with MSS and different heavy metals was blended to examine the fixation ratios, chemical species, and cement crystalline phases in clinkers. The results showed that blending MSS could decrease the fixation ratio of Cr, Ni, Cu, and Zn in the produced clinker by 5% to 25%. And Cr, Cu, and Zn were mainly incorporated into clinkers as metal silicates, Ni was mainly solubilized in Mg O to form magnesium nickel oxides, and the transition phases were mainly metal aluminum oxides as indicated by X-ray diffraction. The reduction of fixation ratios was likely attributed to the presence of impure elements, such as sodium and phosphorus in MSS. In addition, high concentrations(eg, 1.7 wt%) of chlorine in MSS led to metal chloride formation that could vaporize Cu, Cr, Ni, and Zn. 9Coupling magnetic particles with flocculants to enhance demulsification and separation of waste cutting emulsion for engineering applications显示文摘Magnetic particles were coupled with a flocculant to enhance the demulsification and separation of waste cutting emulsions.The optimal magnetic particle size and critical magnetic field conditions were investigated to achieve large-scale engineering application of magnetic demulsification separation for waste cutting emulsion treatment.The micro-scale magnetic particles were found to show comparable effects to nano-scale magnetic particles on enhancing the demulsification and separation of cutting emulsions,which are beneficial for broadening the selectivity of low-cost magnetic particles.The critical magnetic separation region was determined to be an area 40 mm from the magnetic field source.Compared to the flocculant demulsification,the magnetic demulsification separation exhibited a significant advantage in accelerating flocs-water separation by decreasing the separation time of flocs from 180-240 min to less than 15 min,compressing the flocs by reducing the floc volume ratio from 60%-90%to lower than 20%,and showing excellent adaptability to the variable properties of waste cutting emulsions.Coupled with the design of the magnetic disk separator,continuous demulsification separation of the waste cutting emulsion was achieved at 1.0 t/hr for at least 10 hr to obtain clear effluent with 81%chemical oxygen demand removal and 89%turbidity reduction.This study demonstrates the feasibility of applying magnetic demulsification separation to large-scale continuous treatment of waste emulsion.Moreover,it addresses the flocs-water separation problems that occur in practical flocculant demulsification engineering applications.Yongjiao Xiong Baoqiang Wu Xiangfeng Huang Chenlu Li Bin Lu Jia Liu Lijun Lu Shiyang Li Kaiming Peng 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,7:2

15In-plane epitaxial growth of 2D CoSe-WSe2 metalsemiconductor lateral heterostructures with improved WSe2 transistors performance显示文摘The two-dimensional(2D)in-plane(lateral)heterostructures have attracted increasing interest for potential applications in the atomically thin electronics and optoelectronics.While most studies focus on semiconductorsemiconductor lateral heterostructures with highly similar lattice structures between the constituent components,the synthesis of metal-semiconductor lateral heterostructures is much less explored and usually more challenging due to more distinct lattice structures or chemical properties.Herein,a vapor phase epitaxy growth method of high-quality metal-semiconductor lateral heterostructures between tetragonal CoSe and hexagonal WSe2 is reported.The 2D CoSe can selectively nucleate at the edge of pre-grown WSe2 nanosheets to form CoSe-WSe2 metal-semiconductor lateral heterostructures.Optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and atomic force microscopy(AFM)studies reveal distinct contrast across the heterostructure interface.High-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM)and selected area electron diffraction(SAED)studies further confirm the microstructure modulation across the heterostructure interface.The field-effect transistors(FETs)of CoSe-WSe2 lateral heterostructures show satisfactory Ohmic contacts and considerably better FET performance over those with deposited Cr/Au contacts,suggesting the in-plane metal-semiconductor junctions may function as improved contacts for the atomically thin electronics.Huifang Ma Kejing Huang Ruixia Wu Zhengwei Zhang Jia Li Bei Zhao Chen Dai Ziwei Huang Hongmei Zhang Xiangdong Yang BoLi Yuan Liu Xiangfeng Duan Xidong Duan 2021InfoMat2021,3,2:1

18The first local case of mpox caused by an imported case in the Chinese mainland显示文摘Monkeypox (mpox) is a zoonotic disease caused by the mpox virus (MPXV) that has been primarily limited to Central and West African nations since its discovery. The recent spread of the West African lineage of MPXV in historically unaffected countries has raised concerns for global public health. Despite a significant decrease in global mpox cases, there is still a risk of a global resurgence. This study reports the first local case of mpox caused by an imported case in the Chinese mainland. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) diagnosed the two cases, and the viral genomes were obtained by next-generation sequencing. 19Two-dimensional van der Waals thin film transistors as active matrix for spatially resolved pressure sensing显示文摘The development of pressure sensor arrays capable of distinguishing the shape and texture details of objects is of considerable interest in the emerging fields of smart robots,prostheses,human-machine interfaces,and artificial intelligence(AI).Here we report an integrated pressure sensor array,by combining solution-processed two-dimensional(2D)MoS2 van der Waals(vdW)thin film transistor(TFT)active matrix and conductive micropyramidal pressure-sensitive rubber(PSR)electrodes made of polydimethylsiloxane/carbon nanotube composites,to achieve spatially revolved pressure mapping with excellent contrast and low power consumption.We demonstrate a 10×10 active matrix by using the 2D MoS2 vdW-TFTs with high on-off ratio>10^(6),minimal hysteresis,and excellent device-to-device uniformity.The combination of the vdW-TFT active matrix with the highly uniform micropyramidal PSR electrodes creates an integrated pressure sensing array for spatially resolved pressure mapping.This study demonstrates that the solution-processed 2D vdW-TFTs offer a solution for active-matrix control of pressure sensor arrays,and could be extended for other active-matrix arrays of electronic or optoelectronic devices.Chao Ma Dong Xu Peiqi Wang Zhaoyang Lin Jingyuan Zhou Chuancheng Jia Jin Huang Shengtao Li Yu Huang Xiangfeng Duan 2021Nano Research2021,14,10:1
