| 1 | Trends in cancer mortality in China from 2004 to 2018:A nationwide longitudinal study显示文摘Background:The long-term trend in cancer death in a rapidly developing country provides information for cancer prophylaxis.Here,we aimed to identify the trends in cancer mortality in China during the 2004-2018 period.Methods:Using raw data from the national mortality surveillance system of China,we assessed the mortalities of all cancer and site-specific cancers during the 2004-2018 period.The participants were divided into three age groups:≥65 years,40-64 years,and≤39 years.Changing trends in cancer death by gender,residency,and tumor location were estimated using fitting joinpoint models to log-transformed crude mortality rates(CMRs)and age-standardizedmortality rates(ASMRs).Results:Cancer death accounted for 24% of all-cause of death in China during 2014-2018.The CMR of all cancer was 150.0 per 100,000 persons.Cancer was the leading cause of death in the population<65 years.The six major cancer types(lung/bronchus cancer,liver cancer,stomach cancer,esophagus cancer,colorectal cancer,and pancreas cancer)accounted for 75.85% of all cancer deaths.The CMR of all cancer increased while the ASMR decreased during 2014-2018(P<0.001).Lung/bronchus cancer and liver cancer were the leading causes of cancer death in the population<65 years,accounting for 45.31%(CMR)and 44.35%(ASMR)of all cancer death,respectively.The ASMR of liver cancer was higher in the 40-64 years population than in the≥65 years population,in contrast to the other five major cancers.The ASMRs of liver cancer,stomach cancer,and esophagus cancer decreased although they were higher in rural residents than in urban residents;the ASMRs of lung/bronchus cancer,colorectal cancer,and pancreas cancer increased in rural residents although they were higher in urban residents than in rural residents during 2014-2018.Conclusion:Although the ASMR of all cancer decreased in China during 2004-2018,lung/bronchus cancer and liver cancer remained the leading causes of cancer-related premature death.Lung/bronchus cancer,colorectal cancer,and pancreas cancer increased in rural residents. | Dongming Jiang Lijuan Zhang Wenbin Liu Yibo Ding Jianhua Yin Rongbing Ren Qi Li Yifan Chen Jiaying Shen Xiaojie Tan Hongwei Zhang Guangwen Cao | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,10: | 23 |
| 2 | Exosomes secreted from cardiomyocytes suppress the sensitivity of tumor ferroptosis in ischemic heart failure显示文摘Heart failure(HF)patients in general have a higher risk of developing cancer.Several animal studies have indicated that cardiac remodeling and HF remarkably accelerate tumor progression,highlighting a cause-and-effect relationship between these two disease entities.Targeting ferroptosis,a prevailing form of non-apoptotic cell death,has been considered a promising therapeutic strategy for human cancers.Exosomes critically contribute to proximal and distant organ-organ communications and play crucial roles in regulating diseases in a paracrine manner.However,whether exosomes control the sensitivity of cancer to ferroptosis via regulating the cardiomyocyte-tumor cell crosstalk in ischemic HF has not yet been explored.Here,we demonstrate that myocardial infarction(MI)decreased the sensitivity of cancer cells to the canonical ferroptosis activator erastin or imidazole ketone erastin in a mouse model of xenograft tumor.Post-MI plasma exosomes potently blunted the sensitivity of tumor cells to ferroptosis inducers both in vitro in mouse Lewis lung carcinoma cell line LLC and osteosarcoma cell line K7M2 and in vivo with xenograft tumorigenesis model.The expression of miR-22-3p in cardiomyocytes and plasma-exosomes was significantly upregulated in the failing hearts of mice with chronic MI and of HF patients as well.Incubation of tumor cells with the exosomes isolated from post-MI mouse plasma or overexpression of miR-22-3p alone abrogated erastin-induced ferroptotic cell death in vitro.Cardiomyocyte-enriched miR-22-3p was packaged in exosomes and transferred into tumor cells.Inhibition of cardiomyocyte-specific miR-22-3p by AAV9 sponge increased the sensitivity of cancer cells to ferroptosis.ACSL4,a pro-ferroptotic gene,was experimentally established as a target of miR-22-3p in tumor cells.Taken together,our findings uncovered for the first time that MI suppresses erastin-induced ferroptosis through releasing miR-22-3p-enriched exosomes derived from cardiomyocytes.Therefore,targeting exosome-mediated cardiomyocyte/tumor pathological communication may offer a novel approach for the ferroptosis-based antitumor therapy. | Ye Yuan Zhongting Mei Zhezhe Qu Guanghui Li Shuting Yu Yingqi Liu Kuiwu Liu Zhihua Shen Jiaying Pu Yanquan Wang Changhao Wang Zhiyong Sun Qian Liu Xiaochen Pang Ao Wang Zijing Ren Tong Wang Ying Liu Jinhuan Hong Jiajie Xie Xin Li Zhonghua Wang Weijie Du Baofeng Yang | 2023 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,4: | 2 |
| 3 | Characterization of SARS-CoV-2 worldwide transmission based on evolutionary dynamics and specific viral mutations in the spike protein显示文摘Background:The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)is pandemic.However,the origins and global transmission pattern of SARS-CoV-2 remain largely unknown.We aimed to characterize the origination and transmission of SARS-CoV-2 based on evolutionary dynamics.Methods:Using the full-length sequences of SARS-CoV-2 with intact geographic,demographic,and temporal information worldwide from the GISAID database during 26 December 2019 and 30 November 2020,we constructed the transmission tree to depict the evolutionary process by the R package'outbreaker'.The affinity of the mutated receptor-binding region of the spike protein to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)was predicted using mCSM-PPI2 software.Viral infectivity and antigenicity were tested in ACE2-transfected HEK293T cells by pseudovirus transfection and neutralizing antibody test.Results:From 26 December 2019 to 8 March 2020,early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic,SARS-CoV-2 strains identified worldwide were mainly composed of three clusters:the Europe-based cluster including two USA-based subclusters;the Asia-based cluster including isolates in China,Japan,the USA,Singapore,Australia,Malaysia,and Italy;and the USA-based cluster.The SARS-CoV-2 strains identified in the USA formed four independent clades while those identified in China formed one clade.After 8 March 2020,the clusters of SARS-CoV-2 strains tended to be independent and became'pure'in each of the major countries.Twenty-two of 60 mutations in the receptor-binding domain of the spike protein were predicted to increase the binding affinity of SARS-CoV-2 to ACE2.Of all predicted mutants,the number of E484K was the largest one with 86585 sequences,followed by S477N with 55442 sequences worldwide.In more than ten countries,the frequencies of the isolates with E484K and S477N increased significantly.V367F and N354D mutations increased the infectivity of SARS-CoV-2 pseudoviruses(P<0.001).SARS-CoV-2 with V367F was more sensitive to the S1-targeting neutralizing antibody than the wild-type counterpart(P<0.001).Conclusions:SARS-CoV-2 strains might have originated in several countries simultaneously under certain evolutionary pressure.Travel restrictions might cause location-specific SARS-CoV-2 clustering.The SARS-CoV-2 evolution appears to facilitate its transmission via altering the affinity to ACE2 or immune evasion. | Jiluo Liu Xi Chen Yan Liu Jiansheng Lin Jiaying Shen Hongwei Zhang Jianhua Yin Rui Pu Yibo Ding Guangwen Cao | 2021 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2021,10,4: | 2 |
| 4 | Sequence Analysis of TNFRSF13b, Encoding TACI, in a Patient with Very Early Onset Inflammatory Bowel Disease: a Case Report显示文摘Very early onset inflammatory bowel disease (VEO-IBD), IBD diagnosed before 6 years of age, frequently presents with increased severity, aggressive progression, and often poor response to conventional treatments. Although the cause of IBD is generally considered to be intestinal immune dysfunction induced by polygenic mutations and environment and other factors, VEO-IBD has a stronger genetic susceptibility specifically the neonatal- or infantile-onset IBD. Herein we report compound heterozygous mutations in the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 13b (TNFRSF13B) gene in a 3-year-old male that was admitted to our hospital with lasted jaundice, repeated fever and diarrhea in May 2014 at 2-month-old. He was diagnosed with VEO-IBD based on clinical, laboratory and histopathological examination. However, he was unresponsive to the conventional therapy, including the nutritional support therapy, antibiotic and immunosuppressive treatment, and surgical release of neonatal intestinal obstruction. | 8 | Exchange interaction and demagnetization process of high-abundance rare-earth magnets sintered using dual alloy method显示文摘The 2:14:1-type rare-earth(RE)-Fe-B permanent magnets prepared by the dual alloy method have been found to possess much superior magnetic properties to those prepared by the single alloy method,providing an appealing route to promote the utilization of high-abundance RE elements Ce and La and balance the use of the RE source.However,the relationship between magnetic interactions among different 2:14:1 main phases and superior magnetic properties is still unclear.In this study,we investigated the magnetic interactions and reversal field distribution in these magnets using first-order reversal curve(FORC)images.The FORC images showed that(Nd,Pr)27.8(La,Ce)2.7FebalM1.4B1.0(S-9)and(Nd,Pr)19.5(La,Ce)11.0FebalM1.4B1.0(S-36)have the characteristics of multiple main phases.The reverse magnetic fields corresponding to the soft and hard main phases,as well as the associated exchange coupling,were highly dependent on the La Ce content.The higher the La Ce content,the weaker the exchange coupling and the more asynchronous the demagnetization process.In addition,the FORC images indicated that the magnetization reversal process also varies with La Ce content,where the nucleation and propagation of reversed domains dominant in the S-9 magnet,while the domain propagation in the S-36 magnet is considerably suppressed.Additional micromagnetic simulations also revealed that the coercivity and exchange coupling of multi-main-phase magnets decrease with increasing La Ce content,correlating well with the experimental results.These findings may not only contribute to a better understanding of the complex magnetic interactions between the soft and hard phases and how they affect macroscopic magnetic properties but also help in improving the magnetic performance of the RE-Fe-B magnets with high La Ce content. | Dan Liu Tongyun Zhao Jiaying Jin Tianyu Ma Jiefu Xiong Baogen Shen Fengxia Hu Jirong Sun | 2022 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2022,65,4: | 0 |
