| 1 | Identification of a Stable Quantitative Trait Locus for Percentage Grains with White Chalkiness in Rice (Oryza sativa)显示文摘High chalkiness is a major problem in many rice-producing areas of the world, especially in hybrid rice (Oryza sativa L.) in China. We previously showed a major quantitative trait locus for the percentage of grains with white chalkiness (QTLqPGWC-8) in the interval G1149-R727 on chromosome 8 using a chromosome segment substitution line (CSSL). Here, we selected the line-CSSL50 harboring the QTLqPGWC-8 allele from the CSSLs derived from a cross between Asominori (as a recurrent parent) and IR24 (as a donor parent), which had higher percentage chalkiness, markedly different from that of Asominori. There were also significant differences in starch granules, appearance of amylose content (AAC) and milling qualities between Asominori and CSSL50, but not in grain size or thousand grain weight (TGW). The BC4F2 and BC4F3 populations from a cross between CSSL50 and Asominori were used for fine mapping of qPGWC-8. We narrowed down the location of this QTL to a 142 kb region between Indel markers 8G-7 and 8G-9. QTLqPGWC-8 accounted for 50.9% of the difference in PGWC between the parents. | 2 | Effect of stimulating acupoint Guanyuan(CV 4) on lower back pain by burning moxa heat for different time lengths: a randomized controlled clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of different heat-stimulating time lengths on lower back pain.METHODS: Forty participants were randomly assigned to four groups of various heating time lengths. The short heating time length group(SL),moderate heating time length group(ML), and long heating time length group(LL) respectively received 15, 30, and 60 min of moxibustion therapy stimulating the acupoint Guanyuan(CV 4). The conventional acupuncture group(CA) received needle acupuncture treatment as a control group. The participants were treated continuously over a 2-week treatment period for a total of 10 sessions, with five sessions given per week. Participants were assessed weekly by blinded assessors, using the visual analogue scale(VAS) and Roland Morris Questionnaire(RMQ).RESULTS: The VAS and RMQ scores reduced in all four groups during treatment. There were significant differences in VAS scores(P < 0.01) and RMQ scores(P < 0.01) between before treatment and after 2 weeks of treatment in the LL group. | 4 | Effect of acupuncture anesthesia on acne vulgaris of pricking-blood-letting cupping: a single-blind randomized clinical trail显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect on acne vulgaris of pricking-bloodletting cupping at Dazhui(GV 14) under acupuncture anesthesia, and establish whether providing anesthesia to the treatment area by manipulating Hegu(LI 4) and Quchi(LI 11) might have an additional therapeutic benefit. METHODS: Thirty-eight patients were recruited and randomized into a control group and an intervention group with a single-blind(observer-blind) method. The control group was treated by pricking-bloodletting cupping at Dazhui(GV 14) and the studied group by pricking-bloodletting cupping at Dazhui(GV 14) under acupuncture anesthesia at Hegu(LI 4) and Quchi(LI 11). Both groups were treated twice weekly for 6 weeks. The analgesic and therapeutic effects of acupuncture were evaluated on a visual analog scale(VAS) and global acne grading system(GAGS), respectively.RESULTS: There were differences in the VAS scores of pain on pricking and in the pricked area, and the duration of pain between the groups. After 12 treatments, there was a significant reduction in GAGS scores from baseline in both groups, but there was no significant difference between the groups. CONCLUSION: Acupuncture anesthesia at Hegu(LI 4) and Quchi(LI 11) is an effective means of alleviating the pain of pricking-bloodletting cupping and reducing the duration of pain in the treatment area. | 7 | Credit-based scheme for security-aware and fairness-aware resource allocation in cloud computing显示文摘Cloud computing systems include different types of participants with varied requirements for resources and multiple tasks; these varying requirements must be considered in the design of fairness-aware resource allocation schemes for better resources sharing. However, some participants may be malicious with a goal to damage the resource allocation fairness and increase their own utility. Hence, the resource scheduling policy must guarantee allocation fairness among the participants; further, it must ensure that fairness is not affected by the malicious usage of resources, that could cause resource exhaustion and lead to denial of service. In order to address this challenge, we propose a credit-based mechanism for resource allocation that will avoid the malicious usage of resources and, simultaneously, guarantee allocation fairness. In our scheme, a credit factor is introduced for each participant in order to evaluate the history of resource utilization and determine future resource allocation. Our model encourages a participant to release the occupied resources in timely manner after the completion of a task and imposes a punishment for malicious occupation of resources. We prove the fairness of our model and provide linear and variable gradient approaches to determine the credit factor for different scenarios. We simulate our model and perform experiments on a real cloud computing platform. | 8 | First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. In this paper, we propose a novel framework, namely APPLET, for protecting user privacy information, including locations and recommendation results, within a cloud environment. Through this framework, all historical ratings are stored and calculated in ciphertext, allowing us to securely compute the similarities of venues through Paillier encryption, and predict the recommendation results based on Paillier,commutative, and comparable encryption. We also theoretically prove that user information is private and will not be leaked during a recommendation. In order to mitigate the great cost caused by the complexity of modeling and the heavy load of single-node verification to the energy-limited sensor node, in this paper, we propose a new distributed verification framework to enforce information flow security on composite services of smart sensor network. We analyze the information flows in composite services and specify security constraints for each service participant. Pig tubular epithelial cells (LLC-PK1) and vascular endothelial cells (ECV304) were cultivated on the open-ended TiO2 nanotubes surface through a mixing implantation method and TiO2 nanotubes biomembrane materials with physiological function were successfully produced. Hemocompatibility of glass slides, pure titanium, TiO2 nanotubes without cells and TiO2 nanotubes with culture cells were investigated by the plasma recalcification time method and reabsorption of sodium and potassium were measured by custom-designed devices. The results show that the hemocompatibility of the TiO2 nanotubes array membrane with culture cells was superior to the control group, and the biomembrane has an excellent reabsorption function. The La2/3Ca1/3Mn O3-δfilm has a novel photoelectric property due to its oxygen-deficient structure. We observed laser-induced giant negative photoresistance of the sample in a wide temperature range. The change rate of negative photoresistance was nearly 100% at the low temperature when the sample was irradiated by 532 nm laser. In addition, this effect was sensitive to the power of laser irradiation. The oxygen-deficiency of La2/3Ca1/3Mn O3-δfilm seems to have an impact on the laser-induced resistance variation.
