1Serum thymosin β4 levels in patients with hepatitis B virus-related liver failure显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether serum thymosinβ4 can provide diagnostic or prognostic information in liver failure patients caused by chronic hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection. METHODS:Serum thymosinβ4 levels were measured in 30 patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF), 31 patients with chronic liver failure(CLF),30 patients with compensated liver cirrhosis(CR)and 32 patients with chronic hepatitis B and 30 healthy controls.Serum thymosinβ4 levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Child-Pugh and model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)scores were calculated for each patient on admission.RESULTS:Compared with healthy controls,serum thymosinβ4 levels in ACLF,CLF,CR and chronic hepatitis B patients were significantly lower,6.5047 (4.7879-10.5314)μg/mL vs 0.4632(0.2759-0.8768) μg/mL,0.6981(0.5209-1.2008)μg/mL,1.8053 (0.8110-2.3397)μg/mL,3.7803(1.8570-6.4722)μg/mL, respectively(P<0.001).The levels of thymosinβ4 in liver failure(ACLF or CLF)patients were markedly lower than that in CR(P<0.001),and a difference was also found between CLF and ACLF patients(P=0.038).In patients with chronic liver disease,there was a positive relationship between thymosinβ4 levels and albumin, choline esterase,and platelet(P<0.001),and negative relationship with alanine aminotransferase(P=0.020), aspartate aminotransferase,total bilirubin,international normalized ratio of prothrombin time,and Child-Pugh and MELD scores(P<0.001).Of the 61 liver failure patients,the thymosinβ4 levels of non-survivors were significantly lower than that of survivors(P=0.007). Receiver operating characteristics analysis identified a thymosinβ4 cutoff level of 0.5708μg/mL for predicting poor prognosis in all liver failure patients.The serial thymosinβ4 values were observed in 13 liver failure inpatients.Lower initial values were observed in the death.While greater improvement in thymosinβ4 value was found in those who recovered from the disease. 2Improving the Performance of Oilwell Cement by Graft-modifi ed PB Latex显示文摘Graft-modified polybutadiene(PB) latex was synthesized and used as an admixture to improve the performance of oilwell cement. Results showed that the addition of latex to pure cement slurry can significantly reduce the fluid loss of the cement slurry. When the dosage was 8%, the fluid loss was only 38 mL, and the fluidity of the cement slurry was improved. With an increasing amount of latex, the fluidity of the cement slurry increased continuously. The toughness of cement was significantly enhanced, whose average elastic modulus was 4.2 GPa. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the filter cake of the cement slurry with latex was thin and dense, and the surface was coated with a layer of latex film. The microstructure of the cement stone showed a high density, and an interweaving mesh network formed in the cement. The results of cement hydration heat analysis and X-ray diffraction showed that latex inhibited the hydration of cement; the effect was stronger under a larger amount of latex. 4Fabrication and characterization of electrospun biocompatible PU/PEGMA hybrid nanofibers by in-situ UV photopolymerization显示文摘Poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (PEGMA) was introduced into a polyurethane (PU) solution in order to prepare hemocompatible electrospun membranes for potential application as small diameter vascular scaffolds. Crosslinked PU/PEGMA hybrid nanofibers were fabricated by a reactive electrospinning process with N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide (MBAm) as crosslinker and benzophenone (BP) as photoinitiator. The photoinduced polymerization and crosslinking reaction took place simultaneously during the electrospinning process. No significant difference in the membrane morphology was found by SEM when PEGMA content was less than 20 wt%. The crosslinked fibrous membranes of PU/PEGMA exhibit higher hydrophilicity and mechanical strength than PU membrane. 10N-glucosyltransferase GbNGT1 from ginkgo complements the auxin metabolic pathway显示文摘As auxins are among the most important phytohormones,the regulation of auxin homeostasis is complex.Generally,auxin conjugates,especially IAA glucosides,are predominant at high auxin levels.Previous research on terminal glucosylation focused mainly on the O-position,while IAA-N-glucoside and IAA-Asp-N-glucoside have been neglected since their discovery in 2001.In our study,IAA-Asp-N-glucoside was found to be specifically abundant(as high as 4.13 mg/g)in the seeds of 58 ginkgo cultivars.Furthermore,a novel N-glucosyltransferase,termed GbNGT1,was identified via differential transcriptome analysis and in vitro enzymatic testing.It was found that GbNGT1 could catalyze IAA-Asp and IAA to form their corresponding N-glucosides.The enzyme was demonstrated to possess a specific catalytic capacity toward the N-position of the IAA-amino acid or IAA from 52 substrates.Docking and site-directed mutagenesis of this enzyme confirmed that the E15G mutant could almost completely abolish its N-glucosylation ability toward IAA-Asp and IAA in vitro and in vivo.The IAA modification of GbNGT1 and GbGH3.5 was verified by transient expression assay in Nicotiana benthamiana.The effect of GbNGT1 on IAA distribution promotes root growth in Arabidopsis thaliana.Qinggang Yin Jing Zhang Shuhui Wang Jintang Cheng Han Gao Cong Guo Lianbao Ma Limin Sun Xiaoyan Han Shilin Chen An Liu 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:1

12Surface modification of biomaterials by photochemical immobilization and photograft polymerization to improve hemocompatibility显示文摘Thrombus formation and blood coagulation are serious problems associated with blood contacting products,such as catheters,vascular grafts,artificial hearts,and heart valves.Recent progresses and strategies to improve the hemocompatibility of biomaterials by surface modification using photochemical immobilization and photograft polymerization are reviewed in this paper.Three approaches to modify biomaterial surfaces for improving the hemocompatibility,i.e.,bioinert surfaces,immobilization of anticoagulative substances and biomimetic surfaces,are introduced.The biomimetic amphiphilic phosphorylcholine and Arg-Gly-Asp(RGD)sequence are the most effective and most often employed biomolecules and peptide sequence for improving hemocompatibility of material surfaces.The RGD sequence can enhance adhesion and growth of endothelial cells(ECs)on material surfaces and increase the retention of ECs under flow shear stress conditions.This surface modification is a promising strategy for biomaterials especially for cardiovascular grafts and functional tissue engineered blood vessels.Yakai FENG Haiyang ZHAO Li ZHANG Jintang GUO 2010Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2010,4,3:1

15Preparation and Investigation of High-Efficiency Antibacterial Liquid Dishwashing Detergent显示文摘A high-effi ciency liquid dishwashing detergent was prepared by using oregano essential oil as an antibacterial agent. The surface cleaning and antibacterial property of the detergent resolved its unifunctionality problem. The antibacterial activities of the detergent were demonstrated through a disk diff usion assay and wipe experiments with Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus . Results showed that the prepared detergent was highly eff ective against E. coli and S. aureus . The results of chemical accelerated tests indicated that the detergent would be eff ective for at least 1 year. The antibacterial property and detergency performance of the high-effi ciency antibacterial liquid dishwashing detergent were compared with those of a commercial antibacterial detergent containing 0.02% o -phenylphenol. 16Copolymerization of polyketones catalyzed by polyacrylonitrile resin-supported palladium acetate显示文摘The crosslinked polyacrylonitrile (PAN) wassynthesized by suspension polymerization using acrylonitrile(ANT) and divinylbenzene (DVB). Effects of a varietyof conditions on the polymerization of PAN particle sizeand stiffness were investigated. Polyketone was preparedby the copolymerization of carbon monoxide (CO) andstyrene (ST) catalyzed by PAN resin-supported palladiumacetate. The resin-supported catalyst and the copolymerizationproduct were characterized by infrared spectroscopy(IR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Effects ofthe components of a catalytic system and reaction time onthe catalytic activity were studied. The reusability of theresin-supported catalyst was also investigated.Results indicatedthat the resin-supported catalyst has excellent catalyticproperty. 17Comprehensive reutilization of herbal waste:Coproduction of magnolol,honokiol,and β-amyrin from Magnolia officinalis residue显示文摘Herbal extraction residues(HERs)cause serious environmental pollution and resource waste.In this study,a novel green route was designed for the comprehensive reutilization of all components in HERs,taking Magnolia officinalis residues(MOR)as an example.The reluctant structure of MOR was first destroyed by alkali pretreatment to release the functional ingredients(magnolol and honokiol)originally remaining in MOR and to make MOR more accessible for hydrolysis.A metal–organic frame material MIL-101(Cr)with a maximum absorption capacity of 255.64 mg g^(-1)was synthesized to absorb the released honokiol and magnolol from the pretreated MOR solutions,and 40 g L^(-1)reducing sugars were obtained with 81.8%enzymatic hydrolysis rate at 10%MOR solid loading.Finally,382 mg L-1β-amyrin was produced from MOR hydrolysates by an engineered yeast strain.In total,1 kg honokiol,8 kg magnolol,and 7.64 kg β-amyrin could produce from 1 ton MOR by this cleaner process with a total economic output of 170,700 RMB.Lukun Xiao Anyi Zhao Jie Qiu An Liu Sha Chen Jinzhu Jiang Jun Zhang Cong Guo Jipeng Di Jintang Cheng Chang Chen Kangxin Hou Aiping Zhang Yan Liu Caixia Wang 2024Green Energy & Environment2024,9,2:0
18Multifunctional peptide conjugated amphiphilic cationic copolymer for enhancing ECs targeting, penetrating and nuclear accumulation显示文摘Gene therapy has drawn great attention in the treatments of many diseases,especially for cardiovascular diseases.However,the development of gene carriers with low cytotoxicity and multitargeting function is still a challenge.Herein,the multitargeting REDV-G-TATG-NLS peptide was conjugated to amphiphilic cationic copolymer poly(e-caprolactone-co-3(S)-methyl-morpho-line-2,5-dione)-g-polyethyleneimine(PCLMD-g-PEI)via a heterobifunctional orthopyridyl disulfde-poly(ethylene glycol)-N-hydroxysuccinimide(OPSS-PEG-NHS)linker to prepare PCLMD-g-PEI-PEG-REDV-G-TAT-G-NLS copolymers with the aim to develop the gene carriers with low cytotoxicity and high transfection efficiency.The multitargeting micelles were prepared from PCLMD-g-PEI-PEG-REDV-G-TAT-G-NLS copolymers by self-assembly method and used to load pEGFP-ZNF580 plasmids(pDNA)to form gene complexes for enhancing the proliferation and migration of endothelial cells(ECs).The loading pDNA capacity was proved by agarose gel electrophoresis assay.These multitargeting gene com-plexes exhibited low cytotoxicity by 3-(4,-dimethylthia-zol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay.The high internalization efficiency of these gene complexes was confirmed by flow cytometry.The results of in vitro transfection demonstrated that these multitargeting gene complexes possessed relatively high transfection effi-ciency.The rapid migration of ECs transfected by these gene complexes was verified by wound healing assay.Owing to ECs-targeting ability,cell-penetrating ability and nuclear targeting capacity of REDV-G-TAT-G-NLS pep-tide,the multitargeting polycationic gene carrier with low cytotoxicity and high transfection efficiency has great potential in gene therapy.Xinghong Duo Lingchuang Bai Jun Wang Jintang Guo Xiangkui Ren Shihai Xia Wencheng Zhang Abraham Domb Yakai Feng 2020Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2020,14,5:0
