| 1 | Age-related macular degeneration: Epidemiology, genetics, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and targeted therapy显示文摘Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a complex eye disorder and is the leading cause of incurable blindness worldwide in the elderly. Clinically, AMD initially affects the central area of retina known as the macula and it is classified as early stage to late stage (advanced AMD). The advanced AMD is classified into the nonexudative or atrophic form (dry AMD) and the exudative or neovascular form (wet AMD). More severe vision loss is typically associated with the wet form. Multiple genetic factors, lipid metabolism, oxidative stress and aging, play a role in the etiology of AMD. Dysregulation in genetic to AMD is established to 46%–71% of disease contribution, with CFH and ARMS2/HTRA1 to be the two most notable risk loci among the 103 identified AMD associated loci so far. Chronic cigarette smoking is the most proven consistently risk living habits for AMD. Deep learning algorithm has been developed based on image recognition to distinguish wet AMD and normal macula with high accuracy. Currently, anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy is highly effective at treating wet AMD. | 2 | MicroRNA in vivo precipitation identifies miR-151-3p as a computational unpredictable miRNA to target Stat3 and inhibits innate IL-6 production显示文摘MicroRNAs(miRNAs)function as important regulators in the immune response and inflammation.Several approaches have been reported to computationally predict miRNAs and their potential targets.However,there are still many miRNA–target interactions that are unpredictable by using the current computational algorithms.We established a miRNA in vivo precipitation method(miRIP)to identify unpredictable miRNAs with definite targets in these cells.Because Stat3 is a well-known transcription factor involved in innate immunity and inflammation,we utilized the miRIP method to identify miRNAs that bind Stat3 mRNA in macrophages.Among the captured miRNAs,miR-151-3p was confirmed to interact with Stat3 mRNA 3′-UTR and downregulate the Stat3 protein levels.LPS stimulation decreased miR-151-3p expression,thereby increasing IL-6 production.Therefore,we found that miR-151-3p inhibited LPS-induced IL-6 production by targeting Stat3.These data further confirmed miRIP as an efficient method to identify unpredictable miRNAs and explore miRNAs-mediated regulation in innate immunity and inflammation. | Xiang Liu Xiaoping Su Sheng Xu Huamin Wang Dan Han Jiangxue Li Mingyan Huang Xuetao Cao | 2018 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,2: | 8 |
| 3 | Effects of Ziyin Jianghuo Ningxin decoction plus dehydroepiandrosterone and femoston in treatment of patients with menopausal symptoms显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To determine the therapeutic effect of Ziyin Jianghuo Ningxin Decoction(ZYJHNXD) plus dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA) and menopausalhormone therapy(MHT) in patients suffering from menopausal symptoms identified as, in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine, symptom pattern of Yin deficiency with hyperactive fire.METHODS: Totally 180 postmenopausal women aged 40 to 60 years were assigned into four groups and accepted femoston, femoston with ZYJHNXD,femoston with DHEA, femoston with ZYJHNXD and DHEA therapies, respectively, for three months.Common questionnaire-based measure instruments included modified Kupperman index(MKI),Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety(HAMA), and Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression(HAMD). Follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH), luteinizing hormone(LH), estradiol(E2), 5-hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid(5-HIAA), norepinephrine(NE), dopamine(DA),bone mineral density(BMD), and sleep quality were evaluated before and three months after the treatments.RESULTS: In all four groups, the scores of MKI, HAMA, HAMD and the levels of FSH, LH decreased significantly(P < 0.05) after the treatment, while the levels of E2, 5-HIAA, NE, and DA showed obvious elevation(P < 0.05). | 4 | Isolation and Characterization of Collagen from Squid(Ommastrephes bartrami) Skin显示文摘Collagen of squid(Ommastrephes bartrami) skin was examined in the present study. Histology showed that collagen fiber in the skin was partially cross-linked with muscle fiber. Acid-solubilized collagen(ASC) and pepsin-solubilized collagen(PSC) were extracted from the skin and characterized. The results of amino acid composition and electrophoretic patterns revealed that ASC and PSC were both type Ⅰ collagen,containing α1 and α2 chains. FTIR(fourier transform infrared spectroscopy) investigations confirmed the existence of helical arrangements in PSC of squid skin. | 8 | Toward dendrite-free and anti-corrosion Zn anodes by regulating a bismuth-based energizer显示文摘Aqueous rechargeable zinc metal batteries display high theoretical capacity along with economical effectiveness,environmental benignity and high safety.However,dendritic growth and chemical corrosion at the Zn anodes limit their widespread applications.Here,we construct a Zn/Bi electrode via in-situ growth of a Bi-based energizer upon Zn metal surface using a replacement reaction.Experimental and theoretical calculations reveal that the Bi-based energizer composed of metallic Bi and ZnBi alloy contributes to Zn plating/stripping due to strong adsorption energy and fast ion transport rates.The resultant Zn/Bi electrode not only circumvents Zn dendrite growth but also improves Zn anode anti-corrosion performance.Specifically,the corrosion current of the Zn/Bi electrode is reduced by 90%compared to bare Zn.Impressively,an ultra-low overpotential of 12mV and stable cycling for 4000h are achieved in a Zn/Bi symmetric cell.A Zn–Cu/Bi asymmetric cell displays a cycle life of 1000 cycles,with an average Coulombic efficiency as high as 99.6%.In addition,an assembled Zn/Bi-activated carbon hybrid capacitor exhibits a stable life of more than 50,000 cycles,an energy density of 64Wh kg−1,and a power density of 7kWkg−1.The capacity retention rate of a Zn/Bi–MnO_(2)full cell is improved by over 150%compared to a Zn–MnO_(2)cell without the Bi-based energizer.Our findings open a new arena for the industrialization of Zn metal batteries for large-scale energy storage applications. | Mingming Wang Yahan Meng Ke Li Touqeer Ahmad Na Chen Yan Xu Jifei Sun Mingyan Chuai Xinhua Zheng Yuan Yuan Chunyue Shen Ziqi Zhang Wei Chen | 2022 | eScience2022,2,5: | 4 |
| 9 | Clinical characteristics of 310 SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant patients and comparison with Delta and Beta variant patients in China显示文摘Although the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)Omicron variant has spread,data on the clinical characteristics of infected patients are limited.In this study,the demographic,clinical characteristics,and laboratory data of 310 SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant patients treated at Haihe Hospital of Tianjin were collected and analyzed.Information on these patients was compared to 96 patients with the Delta variant of concern(VOC)and 326 patients with the Beta VOC during the previous coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)outbreak in Harbin.Of the 310 patients infected with the Omicron variant,the median age was 35 years.Most patients were clinically classified as mild(57.74%),and the most common symptoms were cough(48.71%),fever(39.35%),and sore throat(38.26%).The results for different vaccination groups in the Omicron group showed that the median of“SARS-CoV-2 specific IgG”after 2 or 3 doses of vaccination was higher than the unvaccinated group(all Ps<0.05).Older age was associated with a higher proportion of moderate cases and lower asymptomatic and mild cases based on clinical classifications.Compared to the Delta and Beta groups,the median age of the Omicron group was younger.The total number of asymptomatic patients and mild patients in the Omicron virus group was higher than the Delta and Beta groups(60.97%vs.54.17%vs.47.55%).This study presented the clinical characteristics of the first group of patients infected with the Omicron variant in Tianjin,China,and compared their clinical features with patients infected by the Delta and Beta variants,which would increase our understanding of the characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant. | Wei Yang Songliu Yang Lei Wang Yuxin Zhou Yu Xin Hongxu Li Wenjing Mu Qi Wu Lei Xu Mingyan Zhao Changsong Wang Kaijiang Yu | 2022 | Virologica Sinica2022,37,5: | 4 |
| 10 | Protective effects of catalpol and rhein in murine experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis via regulation of T helper (Th)1, Th2,Th17, and regulatory T cell responses显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To examine the effects of catalpol and rhein on pro-and anti-inflammatory responses in C57 BL/6 mice with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE),a model of multiple sclerosis.METHODS:Female C57 BL/6 mice were randomly divided into four groups(n=30):(a)normal salinecontrol,(b)EAE control,(c)EAE+prednisone acetate(PA,6 mg/kg),and(d)EAE+catalpol(40 mg/kg)and rhein(5 mg/kg).EAE was induced by injection of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein 35-55 plus pertussis toxin.Treatments were orally administered daily for 40 d.Disease progression and neurological function were assessed using a semi-quantitative scale of tail and limb paralysis.Brains and spinal cords were collected on Days 6,20,and 40 and assessed for histopathological changes by hematoxylin and eosin staining.Production of interleukin(IL)-2,IL-4,IL-10,and IL-17 A protein was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Expression of the T helper(Th)1-,Th2-,Th17-,and regulatory T cell(Treg)-specific transcription factors T-bet,GATA3,ROR-γt,and Foxp3,respectively,were analyzed by quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis.RESULTS:Combination treatment with catalpol and rhein significantly alleviated the clinical disability and neurological dysfunction of mice with EAE.Catalpol and rhein treatment also reduced the infiltration of pro-inflammatory T cells into pathological lesions;significantly increased the expression of the anti-inflammatory factors GATA3,Foxp3,IL-4,and IL-10;and significantly decreased the expression of the pro-inflammatory factors T-bet,ROR-γt,IL-2,and IL-17 A.CONCLUSION:Catalpol and rhein reduced the neurological disabilities of mice with EAE,at least in part by rebalancing the pro-and anti-inflammatory environment in the brains and spinal cords. | Wei Mingyan Yang Tao Li Qian Zhou Dongdong Du Zongpan Fan Yongping | 2019 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2019,39,6: | 3 |

| 14 | Wireless/wired integrated transmission for industrial cyber-physical systems:risk-sensitive co-design of 5G and TSN protocols显示文摘The growing popularity of intelligent manufacturing is driven by deterministic transmission demands of applications in industrial cyber-physical systems(ICPS).However,the ossified shortages of industrial wireless communication such as diverse quality of service(Qo S)and complex signaling processes incur a severe long tail of transmission delay distribution.As a solution,the 5th generation(5 G)wireless communication technology provides ultra-reliable and low-latency communication(URLLC)for industry scenarios.Moreover,the newly proposed time-sensitive networking(TSN)standards guarantee the transmission determinacy by gate mechanism.In this paper,we propose a heterogeneous time-sensitive network(HTSN)co-designed by 5 G and TSN.We first develop a predictive multi-priority wireless scheduling mechanism based on semi-persistent scheduling(SPS)to reduce signaling delay by reserving resources in advance.Then we propose an adaptive data injection mechanism for TSN based on per-stream filtering and policing(PSFP),which dynamically adjusts the priority of data for queue injection in TSN.To further reduce the long tail of delay,we employ a risk-sensitive learning method to improve the worst-case delay.Simulations on a hot rolling production scenario demonstrate that the proposed mechanisms under HTSN achieve great performance in terms of integrated delay and resource utilization. | Yajing ZHANG Qimin XU Xinping GUAN Cailian CHEN Mingyan LI | 2022 | Science China(Information Sciences)2022,65,1: | 1 |

| 19 | Effectiveness and safety of Suxiao Jiuxin pill in treating acute coronary syndrome:a systematic review and Meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Suxiao Jiuxin pill(SX)in acute coronary syndrome(ACS)treatment.METHODS:An extensive search of four English databases(Medline/PubMed,Cochrane Library,Embase,and World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registration Platform)and four Chinese databases(Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wanfang,China Science and Technology Journal,and Chinese Biomedical Literature Service System)was performed.Randomized,controlled trials(RCTs)involving SX combined with conventional therapy versus conventional therapy were included.The extracted data included populations,interventions,outcomes,and risk of bias.The cardiovascular events served as the primary outcome.Review Manager 5.3 software was used for data analysis.Relative risks(RRs)with 95%confidence intervals(CIs)were the effect measure.RESULTS:A total of eight RCTs with 979 patients were included.There were 559 patients with unstable angina(UA)in six RCTs and 420 patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI)in two RCTs.Our review showed that SX plus conventional therapy might reduce the incidence of the total endpoint(RR:0.34,95%CI:0.17,0.68,P=0.002),with no obvious adverse events(RR:1.29,95%CI:0.60,2.77,P=0.52)compared with conventional therapy for patients with UA.Additionally,SX plus conventional therapy also reduced the incidence of the total endpoint(RR:0.35,95%CI:0.18,0.68,P=0.002)compared with conventional therapy in patients with AMI.SX plus conventional therapy also reduced the incidence of ventricular fibrillation(RR:0.23,95%CI:0.10,0.57,P=0.001)compared with conventional therapy in patients with AMI.CONCLUSION:Our results suggest that SX is beneficial for treating patients with UA or AMI.However,our findings should be treated with caution because of the poor methodological quality of the included trials.Therefore,more multicenter,large-sample,high-quality RCTs are required to provide high-quality evidence. | Liu Chao Duan Lian Huang Mingyan Li Jun Xiong Xingjiang Chen Guang He Haoqiang Zhang Zhenpeng Wang Jie | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,4: | 1 |
