On the origin and continuing evolution of SARS-CoV-2显示文摘The SARS-Co V-2 epidemic started in late December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has since impacted a large portion of China and raised major global concern. Herein, we investigated the extent of molecular divergence between SARS-CoV-2 and other related coronaviruses. Although we found only 4% variability in genomic nucleotides between SARS-CoV-2 and a bat SARS-related coronavirus(SARSr-CoV;Ra TG13), the difference at neutral sites was 17%, suggesting the divergence between the two viruses is much larger than previously estimated. Our results suggest that the development of new variations in functional sites in the receptor-binding domain(RBD) of the spike seen in SARS-Co V-2 and viruses from pangolin SARSr-Co Vs are likely caused by natural selection besides recombination. Population genetic analyses of 103 SARS-CoV-2 genomes indicated that these viruses had two major lineages(designated L and S), that are well defined by two different SNPs that show nearly complete linkage across the viral strains sequenced to date. We found that L lineage was more prevalent than the S lineage within the limited patient samples we examined. The implication of these evolutionary changes on disease etiology remains unclear. These findings strongly underscores the urgent need for further comprehensive studies that combine viral genomic data, with epidemiological studies of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Xiaolu Tang Changcheng Wu Xiang Li Yuhe Song Xinmin Yao Xinkai Wu Yuange Duan Hong Zhang Yirong Wang Zhaohui Qian Jie Cui Jian Lu 2020National Science Review2020,7,6:67
Molten salt synthesis of porous carbon and its application in supercapacitors: A review显示文摘Carbon materials have taken an important role in supercapacitor applications due to their outstanding features of large surface area, low price, and stable physicochemical properties.Considerable research efforts have been devoted to the development of novel synthesis strategy for the preparation of porous carbon materials in recent years. In particular, molten salt strategy represents an emerging and promising method, whereby it has shown great potential in achieving tailored production of porous carbon. It has been proved that the molten salt-assisted production of carbon via the direct carbonization of carbonaceous precursors is an effective approach.Furthermore, with the incorporation of electrochemical technology, molten salt synthesis of porous carbon has become flexible and diversiform. Here, this review focuses on the mainstream molten salt synthesis strategies for the production of porous carbon materials, which includes direct molten salt carbonization process, capture and electrochemical conversion of CO_(2)to value-added carbon, electrochemical exfoliation of graphite to graphene-based materials, and electrochemical etching of carbides to new-type carbide-derived carbon materials. The reaction mechanisms and recent advances for these strategies are reviewed and discussed systematically. The morphological and structural properties and capacitive performances of the obtained carbon materials are summarized to reveal their appealing points for supercapacitor applications. Moreover, the opportunities and challenges of the molten salt synthesis strategy for the preparation of carbon materials are also discussed in this review to provide inspiration to the future researches.Zhongya Pang Guangshi Li Xiaolu Xiong Li Ji Qian Xu Xingli Zou Xionggang Lu 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,10:7
Ultrasmall Fe-doped carbon dots nanozymes for photoenhanced antibacterial therapy and wound healing显示文摘Pathogenic bacteria pose a devastating threat to public health. However, because of the growing bacterial antibiotic resistance, there is an urgent need to develop alternative antibacterial strategies to the established antibiotics.Herein,iron-doped carbon dots(Fe-CDs,~3 nm)nanozymes with excellent photothermal conversion and photoenhanced enzyme-like properties are developed through a facile one-pot pyrolysis approach for synergistic efficient antibacterial therapy and wound healing. In particular,Fe doping endows CDs with photoenhanced peroxidase(POD)-like activity, which lead to the generation of heat and reactive oxygen species(ROS)for Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria killing. This study demonstrates Fe-CDs have significant wound healing efficiency of Fe-CDs by preventing infection, promoting fibroblast proliferation, angiogenesis, and collagen deposition.Furthermore, the ultrasmall size of Fe-CDs possesses good biocompatibility favoring clinical translation. We believe that the nanozyme-mediated therapeutic platform presented here is expected to show promising applications in antibacterial.Yunhang Liu Bolong Xu Mingzhu Lu Shanshan Li Juan Guo Fangzhou Chen Xiaolu Xiong Zhe Yin Huiyu Liu Dongsheng Zhou 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,6:7
Enhancement of Aggression Induced by Isolation Rearing is Associated with a Lack of Central Serotonin显示文摘Isolation rearing(IR) enhances aggressive behavior, and the central serotonin(5-hydroxytryptamine,5-HT) system has been linked to IR-induced aggression. However, whether the alteration of central serotonin is the cause or consequence of enhanced aggression is still unknown. In the present study, using mice deficient in central serotonin Tph2-/-and Lmx1 b-/-, we examined the association between central serotonin and aggression with or without social isolation. We demonstrated that central serotonergic neurons are critical for the enhanced aggression after IR. 5-HT depletion in wild-type mice increased aggression. On the other hand, application of 5-HT in Lmx1 b-/-mice inhibited the enhancement of aggression under social isolation conditions. Dopamine was downregulated in Lmx1 b-/-mice. Similar to 5-HT, L-DOPA decreased aggression in Lmx1 b-/-mice. Our results linkthe serotoninergic system directly to aggression and this may have clinical implications for aggression-related human conditions.Yiqiong Liu Yunong Sun Xiaoyan Zhao Ji-Young Kim Lu Luo Qian Wang Xiaolu Meng Yonghui Li Nan Sui Zhou-Feng Chen Chuxiong Pan Liang Li Yan Zhang 2019Neuroscience Bulletin2019,35,5:5
Modified Pressure Loss Model for T-junctions of Engine Exhaust Manifold显示文摘The T-junction model of engine exhaust manifolds significantly influences the simulation precision of the pressure wave and mass flow rate in the intake and exhaust manifolds of diesel engines. Current studies have focused on constant pressure models, constant static pressure models and pressure loss models. However, low model precision is a common disadvantage when simulating engine exhaust manifolds, particularly for turbocharged systems. To study the performance of junction flow, a cold wind tunnel experiment with high velocities at the junction of a diesel exhaust manifold is performed, and the variation in the pressure loss in the T-junction under different flow conditions is obtained. Despite the trend of the calculated total pressure loss coefficient, which is obtained by using the original pressure loss model and is the same as that obtained from the experimental results, large differences exist between the calculated and experimental values. Furthermore, the deviation becomes larger as the flow velocity increases. By improving the Vazsonyi formula considering the flow velocity and introducing the distribution function, a modified pressure loss model is established, which is suitable for a higher velocity range. Then, the new model is adopted to solve one-dimensional, unsteady flow in a D6114 turbocharged diesel engine. The calculated values are compared with the measured data, and the result shows that the simulation accuracy of the pressure wave before the turbine is improved by 4.3% with the modified pressure loss model because gas compressibility is considered when the flow velocities are high. The research results provide valuable information for further junction flow research, particularly the correction of the boundary condition in one-dimensional simulation models.WANG Wenhui LU Xiaolu CUI Yi DENG Kangyao 2014Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2014,27,6:4
Application of next-generation sequencing to screen for pathogenic mutations in 123 unrelated Chinese patients with Marfan syndrome or a related disease显示文摘Marfan syndrome(MFS) is a systemic connective tissue disease principally affecting the ocular, skeletal and cardiovascular systems. This autosomal dominant disorder carries a prevalence of 1:3,000 to 1:5,000. This study aims to define the mutational spectrum of MFS related genes in Chinese patients and to establish genotype-phenotype correlations in MFS. Panel-based targeted next-generation sequencing was used to analyze the FBN1, TGFBR1 and TGFBR2 genes in 123 unrelated Chinese individuals with MFS or a related disease. Genotype-phenotype correlation analyses were performed in mutation-positive patients. The results showed that 97 cases/families(78.9%;97/123) harbor at least one(likely) pathogenic mutation, most of which were in FBN1;four patients had TGFBR1/2 mutations;and one patient harbored a SMAD3 mutation. Three patients had two FBN1 mutations, and all patients showed classical MFS phenotypes. Patients with a dominant negative-FBN1 mutation had a higher prevalence of ectopia lentis(EL). Patients carrying a haploinsufficiency-FBN1 mutation tended to have aortic dissection without EL. This study extends the spectrum of genetic backgrounds of MFS and enriches our knowledge of genotype-phenotype correlations.Jiacheng Li Chaoxia Lu Wei Wu Yaping Liu Rongrong Wang Nuo Si Xiaolu Meng Shuyang Zhang Xue Zhang 2019Science China(Life Sciences)2019,62,12:4
Influence of filler morphology on percolation threshold of isotropical conductive adhesives (ICA)显示文摘Different aspect ratio silver nano-structured materials including nanocubes, nanorods and nanowires were prepared by micro-waved assisted glycol reduction method.Different characterization methods including SEM and XRD were processed on these nanomaterials.Isotropical conductive adhesives(ICA) were developed by using these Ag nanomaterials as conductive fillers. It was found that the conductivity and thermal conductivity percolation threshold of the ICA depended on the morphologies of the fillers, lower percolation threshold could be obtained by using higher aspect ratio filler.A modified percolation threshold theory was put forward to explain and simulate the experiment results, the simulated results could match the experiment results very well.TAO Yu YANG ZhenGuo LU XiaoLu TAO GuoLiang XIA YanPing WU HaiPing 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,1:4
Two novel bocaparvovirus species identified in wild Himalayan marmots显示文摘Bocaparvovirus(BOV) is a genetically diverse group of DNA viruses and a possible cause of respiratory, enteric, and neurological diseases in humans and animals. Here, two highly divergent BOVs(tentatively named as Himalayan marmot BOV,HMBOV1 and HMBOV2) were identified in the livers and feces of wild Himalayan marmots in China, by viral metagenomic analysis. Five of 300 liver samples from Himalayan marmots were positive for HMBOV1 and five of 99 fecal samples from these animals for HMBOV2. Their nearly complete genome sequences are 4,672 and 4,887 nucleotides long, respectively, with a standard genomic organization and containing protein-coding motifs typical for BOVs. Based on their NS1, NP1, and VP1,HMBOV1 and HMBOV2 are most closely related to porcine BOV SX/1-2(approximately 77.0%/50.0%, 50.0%/53.0%, and79.0%/54.0% amino acid identity, respectively). Phylogenetic analysis of these three proteins showed that HMBOV1 and HMBOV2 formed two distinctly independent branches in BOVs. According to these results, HMBOV1 and HMBOV2 are two different novel species in the Bocaparvovirus genus. Their identification expands our knowledge of the genetic diversity and evolution of BOVs. Further studies are needed to investigate their potential pathogenicity and their impact on Himalayan marmots and humans.Yuanyun Ao Xiaoyue Li Lili Li Xiaolu Xie Dong Jin Jiemei Yu Shan Lu Zhaojun Duan 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,12:4
On the founder effect in COVID-19 outbreaks:how many infected travelers may have started them all?显示文摘How many incoming travelers(I0 at time 0,equivalent to the‘founders’in evolutionary genetics)infected with SARS-CoV-2 who visit or return to a region could have started the epidemic of that region?I0 would be informative about the initiation and progression of epidemics. To obtain I0,we analyze the genetic divergence among viral populations of different regions.By applying the‘individual-output’model of genetic drift to the SARS-CoV-2 diversities,we obtain I0<10,which could have been achieved by one infected traveler in a long-distance flight. The conclusion is robust regardless of the source population, the continuation of inputs(It for t>0)or the fitness of the variants. With such a tiny trickle of human movement igniting many outbreaks, the crucial stage of repressing an epidemic in any region should, therefore,be the very first sign of local contagion when positive cases first become identifiable. The implications of the highly‘portable’epidemics, including their early evolution prior to any outbreak, are explored in the companion study(Ruan et al.,personal communication).Yongsen Ruan Zhida Luo Xiaolu Tang Guanghao Li Haijun Wen Xionglei He Xuemei Lu Jian Lu Chung-I Wu 2021National Science Review2021,8,1:3
The use of SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses from bats and pangolins to polarize mutations in SARS-Cov-2显示文摘Dear Editor,The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus has become a global pandemic. The SARS-CoV-2 genome has a similarity of 96.2%to that of RaTG13,a bat SARS-CoV-2-related coronavirus detected in Rhinolophus affinis(Paraskevis et al.,2020;Zhou et al.,2020).The SARS-CoV-2 genome also has 85.5%−92.4%sequence similarity to SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses from Malayan pangolins that have been seized in anti-smuggling operations in southern China(Guangdong-Pangolin(GD-Pangolin-CoV)and Guangxi-Pangolin(GX-Pangolin-CoV)genomes)(Liu et al.,2019;Lam et al.,2020).Tao Li Xiaolu Tang Changcheng Wu Xinmin Yao Yirong Wang Xuemei Lu Jian Lu 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,10:3
Antimony transformation and mobilization from stibnite by an antimonite oxidizing bacterium Bosea sp. AS-1显示文摘Soils and waters are heavily contaminated by antimony in Xikuangshan(XKS)mine area.It is widely accepted that oxidative dissolution of sulfide minerals and aqueous dissolution are the most prevalent geochemical mechanisms for the release of Sb to the environment.Bosea sp.AS-1 is an antimonite-oxidizer isolated from the mine slag in Xikuangshan Sb mine.Whole genome sequencing revealed the presence of multiple sulfur-oxidizing genes, antimony(Sb)metabolism genes and carbon fixation genes in AS-1 s genome. We therefore hypothesized that under oxic conditions,AS-1 could mediate the oxidation of sulfide and Sb(Ⅲ)in stibnite(Sb_(2)S_(3))and lead to the release of Sb.Indeed, strain AS-1 was discovered as an autotrophic Sb(Ⅲ)-oxidizer.Antimony mobilization studies conducted with strain AS-1showed significantly enhanced mobilization of Sb,and complete oxidation of released Sb and sulfur to Sb(V)and sulfate. In addition,AS-1 induced a faster release of Sb under heterotrophic condition, and new acicular minerals might form. These findings support the hypothesis that microorganisms play an important role in the mobilization and transformation of Sb in XKS mine area and may contribute to our further understanding of the Sb biogeochemical redox cycle in natural environment.Li Xiang Chaoyang Liu Deng Liu Liyuan Ma Xuan Qiu Hongmei Wang Xiaolu Lu 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,1:3
The high diversity of SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses in pangolins alerts potential ecological risks显示文摘Understanding the zoonotic origin and evolution history of SARS-CoV-2 will provide critical insights for alerting and preventing future outbreaks.A significant gap remains for the possible role of pangolins as a reservoir of SARS-CoV-2 related coronaviruses(SC2r-CoVs).Here,we screened SC2r-CoVs in 172 samples from 163 pangolin individuals of four species, and detected positive signals in muscles of four Manis javanica and,for the first time, one M.pentadactyla.Phylogeographic analysis of pangolin mitochondrial DNA traced their origins from Southeast Asia.Using in-solution hybridization capture sequencing,we assembled a partial pangolin SC2r-CoV(pangolin-CoV)genome sequence of 22895 bp(MP20)from the M.pentadactyla sample.Phylogenetic analyses revealed MP20 was very closely related to pangolin-CoVs that were identified in M.javanica seized by Guangxi Customs.A genetic contribution of bat coronavirus to pangolin-CoVs via recombination was indicated. Our analysis revealed that the genetic diversity of pangolin-CoVs is substantially higher than previously anticipated.Given the potential infectivity of pangolin-CoVs,the high genetic diversity of pangolin-CoVs alerts the ecological risk of zoonotic evolution and transmission of pathogenic SC2r-CoVs.Min-Sheng Peng Jian-Bo Li Zheng-Fei Cai Hang Liu Xiaolu Tang Ruochen Ying Jia-Nan Zhang Jia-Jun Tao Ting-Ting Yin Tao Zhang Jing-Yang Hu Ru-Nian Wu Zhong-Yin Zhou Zhi-Gang Zhang Li Yu Yong-Gang Yao Zheng-Li Shi Xue-Mei Lu Jian Lu Ya-Ping Zhang 2021Zoological Research2021,42,6:2
A photo-assisted electrochemical-based demonstrator for green ammonia synthesis显示文摘Bridging laboratory research and practical utilization is of crucial importance for the development of green ammonia synthetic technologies. A decentralized photo-assisted electrochemical-based demonstrator has been proposed for green ammonia synthesis from renewable electricity, air and water, where well-known defect-laden WO_(3) is used as the working electrode, and a commercially available PV panel supplies renewable electricity. In this demonstrator, defect-laden WO_(3) exhibits the optimum electrochemical NH_(3) formation rate(4.51 × 10^(-12)mol s^(-1)cm^(-2)) in 0.1 M K_(2)SO_(4)in a photovoltaic electrochemical(PV-EC) system. A system-level energy and cost analysis was conducted to investigate its economic viability and a general evaluation tool for system performance and cost estimation was proposed. This advance enables the possibility of integrating the small-scale green ammonia demonstrator into a stand-alone farm system.Xiaolu Liu Zhurui Shen Xinyue Peng Lu Tian Ran Hao Lu Wang Yangfan Xu Yuping Liu Christos T.Maravelias Wei Li Geoffrey A.Ozin 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,5:1
Weakened interlayer coupling in two-dimensional MoSe2 flakes with screw dislocations显示文摘The screw dislocations are intriguing defects that are often observed in natural and artificial materials. The dislocation spirals break the reflection and inversion symmetries of the lattices and modify the interlayer coupling in layer-structured materials, inducing additional complexity in layer stacking and thus novel properties in materials. Here, we report on the interlayer coupling of two-dimensional (2D) MoSe2 flakes with screw dislocations by atomic force microscopy (AFM), Raman spectra and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. By controlling the supersaturation conditions, 2D MoSe2 flakes with screw dislocations are grown on amorphous SiO2 substrates by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). AFM measurements reveal that the interlayer spacing in such 2D MoSe2 flakes with screw dislocation is slightly widened with respect to the normal AA- or AB-stacked ones due to the presence of the screw dislocations. Raman and PL spectra show that the interlayer coupling is weaker and thus the band gap is wider than that in the normal AA- or AB-stacked ones. Our work demonstrates that the interlayer coupling of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) flakes can be tuned by the induction of screw dislocations, which is very helpful for developing novel catalysts and electronic devices.Xiangzhuo Wang Huixia Yang Rong Yang Qinsheng Wang Jingchuan Zheng Lu Qiao Xianglin Peng Yongkai Li Dongyun Chen Xiaolu Xiong Junxi Duan Guangyu Zhang Jie Ma Junfeng Han Wende Xiao Yugui Yao 2019Nano Research2019,12,8:1

Investigation into the epidemiology, genetic characteristics, and clinical manifestations of the first monkeypox outbreak in Shenzhen,China显示文摘This paper comprehensively analyses the first-ever monkeypox outbreak in Shenzhen,China, encompassing clinical symptomatology, therapeutic approaches, epidemiological research, and comprehensive laboratory tests, aiming to establish a robust reference for future monkeypox mitigation and management strategies. The investigation involved a thorough investigation of all identified positive cases, including extensive molecular analysis by nucleic acid detection and whole-genome sequencing of the monkeypox virus.Contact tracing and containment of the infected individuals were also undertaken.Three distinct monkeypox cases were identified in this unique outbreak, exhibiting mild and atypical clinical manifestations, primarily fever and rash. All cases were associated with a single transmission chain, primarily facilitated through close contact and homosexual behavior, indicative of a high-risk factor for monkeypox transmission.Jia Wan Xiaomin Zhang Jing Qu Bo Peng Dongfeng Kong Jianhua Lu Qinghua Hu Zhifeng Zhou Haiduan Lin Xiangjie Yao Yulin Fu Qing Xu Ying Lin Yan Yang Jinzhen Tang Lin Lin Huimin Li Ziquan Lv Zhen Zhang Xuan Zou Xiaolu Shi 2023Biosafety and Health2023,5,5:0
The development of an iridium(Ⅲ) complex functionalized G-quadruplex probe for the stability of G-quadruplex and lifetime image in cytoplasm显示文摘G-quadruplex(G4) is widely known as a non-classical secondary structure of nucleic acid. With the indepth study of G4, it is an urgent need for a phosphorescent probe with a high G4 binding ability to evaluate the level of G4 in the cytoplasm. Thus, this study designed and synthesized Ir-PDP where an Ir(Ⅲ)complex was used as a phosphorescent emitter. Meanwhile, two installed PDPs(pyridostatin derivatives)were used to improve the combination ability with G4 and reduced the cytotoxicity of the Ir(Ⅲ) complex.Compared with other nucleic acid secondary structures, Ir-PDP produced a higher phosphorescence lifetime after interacting with G4. Ir-PDP was distributed in the cytoplasm of living cells, and two-photon phosphorescence lifetime imaging can detect the binding events of the probe in the cytoplasm. The addition of G4 binder PDS significantly regulated cytoplasmic phosphorescence lifetime. The project explored a new sensing pathway to observe the binding manners of probes in the cytoplasm through the phosphorescence lifetime of probes.Shaokang Jia Wenjin Wang Shanshan Qin Shengjie Xie Lisi Zhan Qi Wei Ziang Lu Xiaolu Zhou Cong Chen Kun Chen Shen Yan Caiping Tan Zongwan Mao Xiang Zhou 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,2:0
