| 2 | Multicomponent Tandem Polymerization of Aromatic Alkynes, Carbonyl Chloride, and Fischer's Base toward Poly(diene merocyanine)s显示文摘Summary of main observation and conclusion Multicomponent polymerization(MCP)is a popular tool to construct polymers with diverse structure,simple operation,and high efficiency,which faces the challenges of limited product structures.Multicomponent tandem polymerization(MCTP),combining two or multiple reactions in a one-pot fashion,could expand the scope of MCP and enrich the polymer structures.Herein,a one-pot three-component tandem polymerization of diynes,carbonyl chloride,and Fischer's base has been developed to afford conjugated poly(diene merocyanine)s with mild condition,satisfactory molecular weights(Mw up to 10900 g/mol)and yields(up to 81%).The polymers enjoy good solubility and high thermal stability.The unique emission behavior of the model compound and polymer show that they are aggregation-induced emission(AIE)-active,suggesting that the diene merocyanine moiety is a potential AIEgen.This MCTP shows great potential in the preparation of functional polymer materials,which could build new AlE functional units directly from the polymerization,demonstrating its synthetic simplicity and elegance. | Xiaojuan Tang Lihui Zhang Rongrong Hu Ben Zhong Tang | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Chemistry2019,37,12: | 3 |

| 4 | A hypothesis for crack free interior surfaces of Longyou caverns caved in argillaceous siltstone 2000 years ago显示文摘Five complete caverns were discovered in Longyou in 1992.They were manually caved in argillaceous siltstone at shallow depths more than 2000 years ago.When they were un-watered,their integrity was maintained completely,and their interior rock surfaces were free of old cracks.Since then,however,the rock's interior faces have initiated and propagated more and more cracks.This paper attempts to address the question of why the rock interior faces were free of old cracks once they were unearthed.To address this question,this paper proposes a hypothesis that the argillaceous siltstone has the ability of self-healing its cracks over a short period of time under weak acid water environment.Data and evidence are presented herewith to prove the hypothesis.They include observations and measurements in the field and test results in the laboratory.Specifically,a three-point bending test is used to form a tensile crack in a rectangular rock specimen and a deadload test for the specimen immersed in initially weak acid water is used for self-healing its crack.The results have shown that the argillaceous siltstone is in a state of weak alkalinity and the rain water at the site is in a state of weak acidity.Therefore,when it is immersed in weak acid water for some time,the argillaceous siltstone would be able to make chemical reactions to generate new minerals such as calcite.The new minerals would be able to infill the cracks and then heal the crack within a few years.Once the crack is self-healed,the rock can regain its strength and integrity.Consequently,the rock interior surfaces could be free of old cracks when the water was pumped out of the caverns. | Zhong Qi YUE Shaopeng FAN Zhifa YANG Lihui LI Luqing ZHANG Zhongjian ZHANG | 2010 | Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2010,4,2: | 2 |

| 10 | Flavivirus RNA cap methyltransferase:structure,function,and inhibition显示文摘Many flaviviruses are significant human pathogens.The plus-strand RNA genome of a flavivirus contains a 5′terminal cap 1 structure(m7GpppAmG).The flavivirus encodes one methyltransferase(MTase),located at the Nterminal portion of the NS5 RNA-dependent RNA polymerase(RdRp).Here we review recent advances in our understanding of flaviviral capping machinery and the implications for drug development.The NS5 MTase catalyzes both guanine N7 and ribose 2'-OH methylations during viral cap formation.Representative flavivirus MTases,from dengue,yellow fever,and West Nile virus(WNV),sequentially generate GpppA!m7GpppA!m7GpppAm.Despite the existence of two distinct methylation activities,the crystal structures of flavivirus MTases showed a single binding site for S-adenosyl-L-methionine(SAM),the methyl donor.This finding indicates that the substrate GpppA-RNA must be repositioned to accept the N7 and 2'-O methyl groups from SAM during the sequential reactions.Further studies demonstrated that distinct RNA elements are required for the methylations of guanine N7 on the cap and of ribose 2'-OH on the first transcribed nucleotide.Mutant enzymes with different methylation defects can trans complement one another in vitro,demonstrating that separate molecules of the enzyme can independently catalyze the two cap methylations in vitro.In the context of the infectious virus,defects in both methylations,or a defect in the N7 methylation alone,are lethal to WNV.However,viruses defective solely in 2'-O methylation are attenuated and can protect mice from later wild-typeWNV challenge.The results demonstrate that the N7 methylation activity is essential for the WNV life cycle and,thus,methyltransferase represents a novel and promising target for flavivirus therapy. | Lihui LIU Hongping DONG Hui CHEN Jing ZHANG Hua LING Zhong LI Pei-Yong SHI Hongmin LI | 2010 | Frontiers in Biology2010,5,4: | 0 |

| 12 | Induction of multiple subroutines of regulated necrosis in murine macrophages by natural BH3-mimetic gossypol显示文摘Macrophages are critical sentinel cells armed with multiple regulated necrosis pathways,including pyroptosis,apoptosis followed by secondary necrosis,and necroptosis,and are poised to undergo distinct form(s)of necrosis for tackling dangers of pathogenic infection or toxic exposure.The natural BH3-mimetic gossypol is a toxic phytochemical that can induce apoptosis and/or pyroptotic-like cell death,but what exact forms of regulated necrosis are induced remains largely unknown.Here we demonstrated that gossypol induces pyroptotic-like cell death in both unprimed and lipopolysaccharide-primed mouse bone marrow-derived macrophages(BMDMs),as evidenced by membrane swelling and ballooning accompanied by propidium iodide incorporation and lactic acid dehydrogenase release.Notably,gossypol simultaneously induces the activation of both pyroptotic and apoptotic(followed by secondary necrosis)pathways but only weakly activates the necroptosis pathway.Unexpectedly,gossypol-induced necrosis is independent of nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3(NLRP3)inflammasome,as neither inhibitor for the NLRP3 pathway nor NLRP3 deficiency protects the macrophages from the necrosis.Furthermore,necrotic inhibitors or even pan-caspase inhibitor alone does not or only partly inhibit such necrosis.Instead,a combination of inhibitors composed of pan-caspase inhibitor IDN-6556,RIPK3 inhibitor GSK′872 and NADPH oxidase inhibitor GKT137831 not only markedly inhibits the necrosis,with all apoptotic and pyroptotic pathways being blocked,but also attenuates gossypol-induced peritonitis in mice.Lastly,the activation of the NLRP3 pathway and apoptotic caspase-3 appears to be independent of each other.Collectively,gossypol simultaneously induces the activation of multiple subroutines of regulated necrosis in macrophages depending on both apoptotic and inflammatory caspases. | Meiyan Zhong Yuanting Huang Bo Zeng Lihui Xu Chunsu Zhong Jiahao Qiu Xunjia Ye Mingye Chen Bo Hu Dongyun Ouyang Xianhui He | 2022 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,1: | 0 |
| 13 | Lymphatic metastasis is related to the epithelialmesenchymal transition and expressions of VEGF, MMP-9, and COX-2 in breast cancer显示文摘The invasion and metastasis of breast cancer are supposed to involve several stages in which epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)is regarded as the mechan-istic basis for the behavior of cancer cells.A series of factors related to EMT are apparently involved in such process.The current study aimed to investigate the contributions of EMT and related factors in lymph node metastasis of breast cancer.The expressions of E-cadherin(E-Cad),N-cadherin(N-Cad),vascular endothelial cell growth factor(VEGF),matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9),cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),and CD34 were examined in 74 cases of breast cancer,including 39 cases with lymph node metastasis and 35 cases without lymph node metastasis by immunohistochemistry.Multivariable Cox proportional hazards model was used to analyze the patients’prognosis.The expressions of N-Cad,VEGF,MMP-9,and COX-2 in cases with lymph node metastasis were significantly higher than those without lymph node metastasis(P<0.05),while the E-Cad level was inversely related to status of lymph node metastasis(P<0.05).The metastasis rate of lymph node in the cases with EMT(lower E-Cad expression and higher N-Cad expression)was 78.3%,while that without EMT(higher E-Cad expression and lower N-Cad expression)was 11.1%.There was a statistical difference in the expression of COX-2 protein between histological grade I and grade II or III,respectively(P<0.05).In the cases with higher grade,the expression of E-Cad was decreased,while that of N-Cad was increased.Higher microvascular density(MVD)was also found to be significantly associated with lymphatic metastasis(P<0.05),and the cases with higher MVD had shorter survival time.This study indicates that EMT and expressions of VEGF,MMP-9 and COX-2,and MVD value are strongly correlated with lymph node metastasis in breast cancer. | Lihui WANG Lianhong LI Shen LV Shujun FAN Li ZHAN Bo WANG Zhong ZHANG | 2009 | Frontiers of Medicine2009,3,2: | 0 |
| 14 | Ablation of Venusian oxygen ions by unshocked solar wind显示文摘As an Earth-like planet Venus probably had a primordial dipole field for several million years after formation of the planet.Since this dipole field eventually vanished the ionosphere of Venus has been exposed to the solar wind.The solar wind is shocked near Venus,and then scavenges the ionospheric particles through the magnetosheath and the magnetotail.The escape rate of oxygen ions(O^+)estimated from spacecraft observations over the past several decades has manifested its importance for the evolution of planetary habitability,considering the accumulated effect over the history of Venus.However,all the previous observations were made in the shocked solar wind and/or inside the wake,though some simulations showed that unshocked solar wind can also ablate O^+ions.Here we report Venus Express observations of O^+ions in the unshocked solar wind during the solar minimum.The observations suggest that these O^+ions are accelerated by the unshocked solar wind through pickup processes.The estimated O^+escape rate,2.1×10^(24) ions/s,is comparable to those measured in the shocked solar wind and the wake.This escape rate could result in about 2 cm global water loss over 4.5 billion years.Our results suggest that the atmospheric loss at unmagnetized planets is significantly underestimated by previous observations,and thus we can emphasize the importance of an Earth-like dipole for planetary habitability. | Yong Wei Markus Fraenz Edward Dubinin Weixing Wan Tielong Zhang Zhaojin Rong Lihui Chai Jun Zhong Rixiang Zhu Yoshifumi Futaana Stas Barabash | 2017 | Science Bulletin2017,62,24: | 0 |
