| 1 | Age-related rhesus macaque models of COVID-19显示文摘Background:Since December 2019,an outbreak of the Corona Virus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)in Wuhan,China,has become a public health emergency of international concern.The high fatality of aged cases caused by SARS-CoV-2 was a need to explore the possible age-related phenomena with non-human primate models.Methods:Three 3-5 years old and two 15 years old rhesus macaques were intratracheally infected with SARS-CoV-2,and then analyzed by clinical signs,viral replication,chest X-ray,histopathological changes and immune response.Results:Viral replication of nasopharyngeal swabs,anal swabs and lung in old monkeys was more active than that in young monkeys for 14 days after SARS-CoV-2 challenge.Monkeys developed typical interstitial pneumonia characterized by thickened alveolar septum accompanied with inflammation and edema,notably,old monkeys exhibited diffuse severe interstitial pneumonia.Viral antigens were detected mainly in alveolar epithelial cells and macrophages.Conclusion:SARS-CoV-2 caused more severe interstitial pneumonia in old monkeys than that in young monkeys.Rhesus macaque models infected with SARS-CoV-2 provided insight into the pathogenic mechanism and facilitated the development of vaccines and therapeutics against SARS-CoV-2 infection. | Pin Yu Feifei Qi Yanfeng Xu Fengdi Li Peipei Liu Jiayi Liu Linlin Bao Wei Deng Hong Gao Zhiguang Xiang Chong Xiao Qi Lv Shuran Gong Jiangning Liu Zhiqi Song Yajin Qu Jing Xue Qiang Wei Mingya Liu Guanpeng Wang Shunyi Wang Haisheng Yu Xing Liu Baoying Huang Wenling Wang Li Zhao Huijuan Wang Fei Ye Weimin Zhou Wei Zhen Jun Han Guizhen Wu Qi Jin Jianwei Wang Wenjie Tan Chuan Qin | 2020 | Animal Models and Experimental Medicine2020,3,1: | 22 |

| 3 | Naringenin reduces lung metastasis in a breast cancer resection model显示文摘Metastasis is the main cause of death in cancer patients. To improve the outcomes of patients undergoing a surgery, new adjuvant therapies that can effectively inhibit metastases have to be developed. Studies have shown that flavonoid naringenin, a natural product that is mainly present in grapes and citrus, may contribute to cancer prevention. It has many advantages compared to traditional chemotherapeutic drugs, such as low toxicity. To determine whether naringenin can also inhibit metastases, a breast cancer resection model that mimics clinical situations was established. We found that orally administered naringenin significantly decreased the number of metastatic tumor cells in the lung and extended the life span of tumor resected mice. Flow cytometry analysis revealed that T cells displayed enhanced antitumor activity in naringenin treated mice, with an increased proportion of IFN-γ and IL-2 expressing T cells. In vitro studies further demonstrated that relief of immunosuppression caused by regulatory T cells might be the fundamental mechanism of metastasis inhibition by naringenin. These results indicate that orally administered naringenin can inhibit the outgrowth of metastases after surgery via regulating host immunity. | 5 | Research and application of a power-flow-calculation method in multiterminal VSC-HVDC power grid显示文摘For demonstrating a multiterminal voltage-source converter(VSC)-based high-voltage DC(HVDC)(VSCHVDC) project, this study puts forward a technical route for calculating the power flow in a 500-kV VSC-HVDC power grid in comparison with that of an AC power grid. The Jacobian matrix used in the power-flow calculation was deduced through methods such as Newton–Laphson iteration and Taylor series expansion. Further, the operation effect of powerflow calculation on a true bipolar VSC-HVDC power grid was analyzed briefly. The elements of the Jacobian matrix corresponding to VSC were studied under the mode of droop control and the control strategy of VSC-HVDC power grid was analyzed in detail. The power-flow calculation model for VSC-HVDC power grid of the master–slave control mode was simplified using the PQ decomposition method of the power-flow calculation of an AC power grid. Moreover, a four-terminal model of the Zhangbei VSC-HVDC demonstration project was established and tested on MATLAB. The simulation results under two kinds of operating conditions were analyzed and compared to the results of BPA; the deviation between the power-flow results was studied. | 6 | Hydrogen sulfide promotes flowering in heading Chinese cabbage by S-sulfhydration of BraFLCs显示文摘Heading Chinese cabbage(Brassica rapa L.syn.B.campestris L.ssp.chinensis Makino var.pekinensis(Rupr.)J.Cao et Sh.Cao)is a cruciferous Brassica vegetable that has a triplicate genome,owing to an ancient genome duplication event.It is unclear whether the duplicated homologs have conserved or diversi fied functions.Hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S)is a plant gasotransmitter that plays important physiological roles in growth,development,and responses to environmental stresses.The modification of cysteines through S-sulfhydration is an important mechanism of H_(2)S,which regulates protein functions.H?S promotes flowering in Arabidopsis and heading Chinese cabbage.Here we investigated the molecular mechanisms of H_(2)S used to promote flowering in the latter.Four,five,and four BraFLC,BraSOC I,and BraFT homologs were identi fi ed in heading Chinese cabbage.Different BraFLC proteins were bound to different CArG boxes in the promoter regions of the BraSOC I and BraFT homologs,producing different binding patterns.Thus,there may be functionally diverse BraFLC homologs in heading Chinese cabbage.Exogenous H_(2)S at 100μmol L^(-1) significantly promoted flowering by compensating for insuf fi cient vernalization.BraFLC 1 and BraFLC_(3) underwent S-sulfhydration by H_(2)S,after which their abilities to bind most BraSOC I or BraFT promoter probes weakened or even disappeared.These changes in binding ability were consistent with the expression pattern of the BraFT and BraSOC I homologs in seedlings treated with H_(2)S.These results indicated that H_(2)S signaling regulates flowering time.In summary,H_(2)S signaling promoted plant flowering by weakening or eliminating the binding abilities of BraFLCs to downstream promoters through S-sulfhydration. | Xiaoli Ma Liping Zhang Zhuoya Pei Linlin Zhang Zhiqiang Liu Danmei Liu Xuefeng Hao Zhuping Jin Yanxi Pei | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 6 |
| 7 | Optimal power allocation for secure directional modulation networks with a full-duplex UAV user显示文摘This paper makes an investigation of a secure unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-aided communication network based on directional modulation(DM). In this network, ground base station(GBS) acts as a control center to transmit confidential message and artificial noise(AN). The UAV user, moving along a linear flight trajectory, is intended to receive the useful information from GBS. At the same time, it also sends AN signals to further interference eavesdropper’s channel. Aiming at maximizing secrecy rate during the UAV flight process, a joint optimization problem is formulated with respect to power allocation(PA)factors, beamforming vector and AN projection matrices. For simplicity, maximum rate transmission, nullspace projection and the leakage-based method are applied to form the transmit beamforming vector, AN projection matrix at GBS, and AN projection vector at UAV user, respectively. Following this, the optimization problem reduces to a bivariate optimization programme with two PA factors. An alternating iterative algorithm(AIA) is proposed to optimize the two PA factors. | 9 | Chinese herbal medicine compound Yi-Zhi-Hao pellet inhibits replication of influenza virus infection through activation of heme oxygenase-1显示文摘As a leading cause of respiratory disease, influenza A virus(IAV) presents a pandemic threat in annual seasonal outbreaks. Given the limitation of existing anti-influenza therapies, there remains to be a requirement for new drugs. Compound Yi-Zhi-Hao pellet(CYZH) is a famous traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) used in the clinic, whose formula has been recorded in Complication of National Standard for Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat common cold. In this study, we found that CYZH exhibited a broad-spectrum anti-influenza activity and inhibited the expression of viral RNA and proteins in vitro. Mechanistically, CYZH had no inhibitory activities against viral protein hemagglutinin and IAV RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. Instead, it induced activation of erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2) and nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB), which subsequently upregulated heme oxygenase-1(HO-1) expression.Also, CYZH protected cells from oxidative damage induced by reactive oxygen series. | 20 | Different Proteomics of Ca^(2+) on SA-induced Resistance to Botrytis cinerea in Tomato显示文摘This study aims to comprehensively study the effects of Ca^(2+) on the SA-induced resistance Botrytis cinerea in tomato through proteomics analysis.A proteomic approach was used to uncover the inducible proteins of tomato in the susceptible tomato cultivars ‘L402' against Botrytis cinerea after salicylic acid(SA) and a combination treatment of CaCl_2 and SA.The results showed that the use of combination treatment of CaCl_2 and SA significantly enhanced tomato resistance against Botrytis cinerea.In total,46 differentially expressed protein spots from 2-DE gel maps were detected,of which 41 were identified by mass spectrometry.All the identified proteins were categorized into eight groups according to their putative functions:defense response(14.00%),antioxidative protein(9.75%),photosynthesis(24.39%),molecular chaperone(4.88%),energy(17.01%),metabolism(21.95%),protein synthesis(4.88%) and signal transduction(0.2%).Of the proteins in the eight function groups,the effect of stress/defense and reactive oxygen species on Ca^(2+) -regulated SA-induced resistance may be the most important one in induced resistance by RT-PCR.The expression level of pathogenesis-related proteins(PRs) and chitinase was upregulated by a combination treatment of CaCl_2 and SA.The characterization of these proteins greatly helped to reveal the induced proteins involved in the regulation of Ca^(2+) on SA-induced resistance to Botrytis cinerea.In the combination treatment of CaCl_2 and SA,the defense response and antioxidative protein were clearly upregulated much more than SA alone or the control treatment by the method of proteomics and RT-PCR.The present findings suggest that susceptible tomato cultivars treated by the combination treatment of CaCl_2 and SA might possess a more sensitive SA signaling system or effective pathway than SA treatment alone.In addition,results indicated that SA could coordinate other cellular activities linked with photosynthesis and metabolism to facilitate defense response and recovery,indicating that the self-defense capability of tomato was improved by the combination treatment of CaCl_2 and SA. | LI Linlin GUO Peng JIN Hua LI Tianlai | 2016 | Horticultural Plant Journal2016,2,3: | 1 |
