| 1 | Molecular crowding agents engineered to make bioinspired electrolytes for high-voltage aqueous supercapacitors显示文摘The development of low-cost and eco-friendly aqueous electrolytes with a wide voltage window is the key to achieving safe high energy density supercapacitors(SCs).In this work,a molecular crowding electrolyte is prepared by simulating the crowded environment in living cells.Ion transport in the molecular crowding electrolyte can be effectively improved via reducing the molecular weight of the crowding agent,polyethylene glycol(PEG).The results show that PEG with a molecular weight of 200(PEG200)can significantly improve ionic conductivity while maintaining a wide voltage window.These advantages enable commercial activated carbon-based SCs to work at 2.5 V with high energy density,outstanding rate performance and good stability for more than 10,000 cycles.On this basis,three series of molecular crowding electrolytes using sodium perchlorate,lithium perchlorate,and sodium trifluoromethanesulfonate as salts are developed,demonstrating the versatility of PEG200 for wide-voltage aqueous electrolytes. | Mengke Peng Li Wang Longbin Li Zhongyou Peng Xiannong Tang Ting Hu Kai Yuan Yiwang Chen | 2021 | eScience2021,1,1: | 5 |
| 2 | Depositional environment in the southern Ulleung Basin,East Sea(Sea of Japan),during the last 48000 years显示文摘The present study is based on the sedimentological data from a piston core KCES1 off the southern Ulleung Basin margin,the East Sea(Sea of Japan).The data include sediment color(L*),X-ray radiographs,grain size distribution and AMS14C date.Four kinds of sediments(homogeneous,laminated,crudely laminated and hybrid sediments) are identified according to the characters of the sedimentary structures that were considered to reflect changes in bottom-water oxygenation.Alternations of dark laminated/crudely laminated sediments and light homogeneous sediments represent millennial-scale variations that are possibly associated with the high-resolution changes in the East Asian monsoon(EAM).The relative contributions of the East China Sea Coastal Water(ECSCW) and the Tsushima Warm Current(TWC) were likely the main reasons for the repetition of the anoxic and oxic depositional conditions in the East Sea since the last 48 ka BP.During the interstadial,the strengthen summer EAM was attributed to the expansion of the ECSCW because of more humid climate in central Asia,and then more strongly low-salinity,nutrient-enriched water was introduced into the East Sea.The ventilation of deep water was restricted and therefore the dark laminated layer deposited under the anoxic bottom water condition.During the lowest stand of sea level in the last glacial maximum(LGM),the isolated East Sea dominated by stratified water masses and the euxinic depositional environment formed.The homogenous sediments have been predominating since 17.5 ka BP indicating that the TWC has intruded into the East Sea gradually with the stepwise rise of sea level and the bottom water oxygen level was high.During the late Younger Dryas(YD) period,the last dark laminated layer deposited because the ventilation of bottom water was restricted by stronger summer EAM.The TWC strengthened and the bottom water became oxic again from 10.5 ka BP. | LIU Yanguang SHA Longbin SHI Xuefa SUK Bong-Chool LI Chaoxin WANG Kunshan LI Xiaoyan | 2010 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2010,29,5: | 4 |
| 3 | Diversity of As Metabolism Functional Genes in Pb-Zn Mine Tailings显示文摘Microbial activities impact arsenic(As) transformation in mine tailings substantially, yet little is understood on the functional diversity of As metabolism genes. This study explored this issue using a metagenomic approach coupled by a local BLASTN procedure established in our recent studies. An assembled metagenome, recovered from hypersaline and sulfidic mine tailings, was screened for As metabolism genes aio A, arr A, ars C and ars M. This was done using a local BLASTN procedure against databases of the As metabolism genes built in this study. Putative As metabolism genes detected in the assembled metagenome included 11 ars M, 20 ars C and 1 arr A full-length sequences. Together with the rRNA-based phylogenetic profiling results, a picture depicting microbial As cycling in the tailings to the genus level was obtained. It was found that most of the dominant genera in the tailings potentially harboured the genes for As reduction and/or methylation. In particular, a typical pyrite-eater present in the tailings, Thioalkalivibrio sp., was found to harbour not only ars C and ars M, but also arr A. These results highlight the unexpected diversity of As metabolism genes in the tailings, especially considering the extremely low species diversity therein. | 4 | Palaeo-sea-ice changes on the North Icelandic shelf during the last millennium:Evidence from diatom records显示文摘A high resolution record of sea-ice concentration on the North Icelandic shelf during the last millennium has been reconstructed using a diatom-based sea-ice transfer function. The reconstructed sea-ice record for the top of sediment core MD99–2275 exhibits a slightly increasing trend over the last 1000 years. Prior to AD 1300 sea-ice abundance was generally below the mean value, suggesting the strong influence of warm waters from the Irminger Current during the Medieval Warm Period. A marked increase of sea-ice concentration indicates an abrupt change to colder conditions after AD 1300, corresponding to the onset of the Little Ice Age. The agreement between the reconstructed sea-ice concentration and IP25 data obtained from the same core, as well as with historical records of Icelandic sea ice, suggests that diatoms may provide a valuable tool for future quantitative reconstructions of past sea-ice variability. In addition, agreement between changes in the reconstructed sea-ice record and variations in the abundance of the major diatom components indicates that sea-ice conditions on the North Icelandic shelf are generally strongly influenced by changes in the strength of two different water masses, the cold Polar water periodically derived from the East Greenland Current and the warm Irminger Current derived from the North Atlantic Current. | 5 | Radial Anisotropy in the Crust beneath the Northeastern Tibetan Plateau from Ambient Noise Tomography显示文摘Through analysis of Rayleigh wave and Love wave Green's functions estimated from ambient noise tomography, we obtain radial anisotropy and shear wave velocity structure beneath the northeastern Tibetan Plateau. With two hundred and twenty three broadband seismic stations deployed by China Earthquake Administration, a collaborative seismic experiment of northern Tibet(ACSENT) experiment and northeastern Tibet seismic(NETS) experiment provide the unprecedented opportunity to resolve the spatial distribution of the radial anisotropy within the crust of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau. Discrepancies between Love(sh) and Rayleigh(sv) wave velocities show complex anisotropic patterns associated with the dynamic processes of the collision between the Indian and Eurasian plates:(1) In the upper crust, V_(sv)>V_(sh) anisotropy is dominant throughout the study area which probably reflects fossil microcracks induced by the uplift, folding and erosion geodynamic processes;(2) in the middle crust, V_(sh)>V_(sv) observed beneath the Songpan-Ganzi terrane and the northwestern Qilian orogen correlates well with a mid-crustal low velocity zone(LVZ);(3) at depths deeper than 40 km, V_(sh)>V_(sv) is still found in the Songpan-Ganzi terrane. This anisotropy could be caused by the sub-horizontal alignment of anisotropic minerals that has followed the collision between India and Eurasia. | 11 | Breaking the Scaling Relationship Limit:From Single-Atom to Dual-Atom Catalysts显示文摘Recent decades have witnessed the rapid development of catalytic science,especially after Taylor and Armstrong proposed the notion of the“active site”in 1925.By optimizing reaction paths and reducing the activation energies of reactions,catalysts appear in more than 90%of chemical production reactions,involving homogeneous catalysis,heterogeneous catalysis,and enzyme catalysis.Because of the 100%efficiency of active atom utilization and the adjustable microenvironment of metal centers,single-atom catalysts(SACs)shine in various catalytic fields for enhancing the rate,conversion,and selectivity of chemical reactions.Nevertheless,a solo active site determines a fixed adsorption mode,and the adsorption energies of intermediates from multistep reactions linking with a solo metal site are related to each other.For a specific multistep reaction,it is almost impossible to optimally adjust the adsorption of every intermediate on the solo site simultaneously.This phenomenon is termed the scaling relationship limit(SRL)and is an unavoidable obstacle in the development of pure SACs.Dual-atom catalysts(DACs),perfectly inheriting the advantages of SACs,can exhibit better catalytic performance than simple SACs and thus have gradually gained researchers’attention.Depending on the dual-metal structure,dual-metal sites(DMSs)in DACs can be divided into two separated heterometal sites,two linked homometal sites,and two linked heterometal sites.Two separated heterometal sites prescribe a distance limit between two metal sites for electron interaction.Currently,the active origins of DACs can be summarized in the following three points:(1)electronic effect,in which only one metal center serves as active site and the other plays an electronic regulatory role;(2)synergistic effect,in which two metal centers separately catalyze different core steps to improve catalytic performance together;(3)adsorption effect,in which offering additional sites changes the adsorption structures to break the SRL based on SACs.Among the three active origins,optimizing the adsorption structure of intermediates upon DMSs is one of the most effective technologies to boost the catalytic property of DACs on the basis of SACs.To date,few contributions have focused on the development of DACs in various heterogeneous catalysis environments,including O_(2) reduction reaction,O_(2) evolution reaction,H_(2) evolution reaction,CO_(2) reduction reaction,N_(2) reduction reaction,and other conversion reactions.In this Account,a summary of recent progress regarding DACs in heterogeneous catalysis will be presented.First,the evolution of DACs from an unpopular discovery to research hot spot is illustrated through a timeline.In the next section,the DACs are divided into three categories,and the potential active origins of DACs are revealed by comparison with SACs.In addition,the techniques for constructing DACs are systematically summarized,including preparation of carbonous,pyrolysis-free,noncarbon-supported,and complex-type DACs.Furthermore,the underlying active origins of DACs in specific energy-and environment-related reactions are introduced in detail with assistance of theoretical calculations.Finally,we affirm the contribution of DACs to catalysis,particularly heterogeneous electrocatalysis,and provide an outlook regarding the development direction for DACs by discussing the major challenges.It is anticipated that this Account can inspire researchers to propel the advance of DACs. | Longbin Li Kai Yuan Yiwang Chen | 2022 | Accounts of Materials Research2022,3,6: | 1 |
| 12 | DTBVis:An interactive visual comparison system for digital twin brain and human brain显示文摘The digital twin brain(DTB)computing model from brain-inspired computing research is an emerging artificial intelligence technique,which is realized by a computational modeling approach of hardware and software.It can achieve various cognitive abilities and their synergistic mechanisms in a manner similar to the human brain.Given that the task of the DTB is to simulate the functions of the human brain,comparing the similarities and differences between the two is crucial.However,the visualization study of the DTB is still under-researched.Moreover,the complexity of the datasets(multilevel spatiotemporal granularity and different types of comparison tasks)presents new challenges to the analysis and exploration of visualization.Therefore,in this study,we proposed DTBVis,a visual analytics system that supports comparison tasks for the DTB.DTBVis supports iterative explorations from different levels and at different granularities.Combined with automatic similarity recommendation,and high-dimensional exploration,DTBVis can assist experts in understanding the similarities and differences between the DTB and the human brain,thus helping them adjust their model and enhance its functionality.The highest level of DTBVis shows an overview of the datasets from the brain,which is used for comparison and exploration of the function and structure of the DTB and the human brain.The medium level is used for the comparison and exploration of a designated brain region.The low level can analyze a designated brain voxel.We worked closely with experts of brain science and held regular seminars with them.Feedback from the experts indicates that our approach helps them conduct comparative studies of the DTB and human brain and make modeling adjustments of the DTB through intuitive visual comparisons and interactive explorations. | Yuxiao Li Xinhong Li Siqi Shen Longbin Zeng Richen Liu Qibao Zheng Jianfeng Feng | 2023 | Visual Informatics2023,7,2: | 1 |

| 15 | Geochemical characteristics and diagenetic fluids of dolomite reservoirs in the Huanglong Formation, Eastern Sichuan Basin, China显示文摘Based on a comprehensive study of texture, diagenetic behavior and evolution of dolomite in the Huanglong Formation, trace(e.g., Fe, Mn and Sr) and rare earth element(REE) geochemistry, and isotopic characteristics(e.g., C, O and Sr), four types of diagenetic fluids are identified in the Huanglong Formation dolomite reservoirs of the Eastern Sichuan Basin, China: 1): marine-derived pore waters in the marine diagenetic environment, 2) sabkha compaction brine conserved in the early shallowburied diagenetic environment, 3) strongly-oxidizing low-temperature meteoric water in the seepagesubsurface flow diagenetic environment, and 4) strongly reducing deeply seated mixed hot brine in the middle and deep burial diagenetic environment. The fluids developed hereditarily from one environment to another, which resulted in its respective characteristics. | 17 | The Origin of Paleokarst in the Huanglong Formation of the Eastern Sichuan Basin:Evidence from δ^(13)C, δ^(18)O and ^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr显示文摘Karst rocks from the Huanglong Formation exposed at the margin of the Eastern Sichuan Basin can be divided into four types:slightly corroded, moderately corroded porous, intensely corroded brecciated and intensely corroded and replaced secondary calcic karstic rocks. The carbon, oxygen and strontium isotope compositions of the various karst rocks are analyzed systematically and compared to rocks without karst corrosion. The results indicate that(1) the Huanglong Formation in the eastern Sichuan Basin was a restricted bay supplied and controlled by freshwater in which mudmicrite and mud-dolomicrite exhibit low δ13C and δ18O values and high 87Sr/86 Sr ratios;(2) all types of karstic rocks in the paleokarst reservoirs of the Huanglong Formation in the research area are affected by atmospheric freshwater with the δ13C and δ18O values and 87Sr/86 Sr ratios in the original formation approaching those of atmospheric freshwater, which reflects ancient hydrological conditions, fluid properties, isotopic source and the fractionation effect;(3) the intensely corroded and replaced secondary limestone is affected by a variety of diagenetic fluids, often reflected by δ13C and δ18O values, while the 87Sr/86 Sr ratios exhibit the strong degree of the corrosion;(4) after comparing the 87Sr/86 Sr ratios of each type of karst rock, the diagenetic fluids are determined to be mainly atmospheric freshwater, and depending on the strength of corrosion, and the low 87Sr/86 Sr ratio fluids in the layer will participate in the karst process. | 18 | Decrypting the Influence of Axial Coordination on the Electronic Microenvironment of Co-N_(5)Site for Enhanced Electrocatalytic Reaction显示文摘Metal porphyrins are star molecules that possess welldefined coordination metal centers for versatile catalytic reactions.However,most previous work has focused on the correlations between in-plane symmetric configuration of metal-N_(4)sites and their catalytic performance.Addressing the catalytic contribution of additional axial coordination to such symmetric configuration remains a challenge.Theoretical calculations revealed that axially anchoring an extra pyridine on the tetra-coordinated cobalt porphyrin(Co-N4)to construct penta-coordinated cobalt porphyrin(Co-N_(5))renders cobalt a higher electron density,thereby favoring the rate-determining O_(2)adsorption/activation and reducing the oxygen electroreduction barrier.Therefore,a well-defined Co-N_(5)site is rationally introduced into the azo-linked polymer framework for a fundamental structure-catalytic performance correlation study.As-prepared Co-N_(5)catalyst exhibits a 26 mV positive shift in half-wave potential compared with the pyridine-free Co-N_(4)counterpart,discloses a markedly higher power density(141.4 mW cm^(−2)),and possesses better long-term durability(over 160 h cycles)in a Zn-air battery.Moreover,such a Co-N_(5)catalyst also showcases potential applications for CO_(2)reduction with high CO_(2)-to-CO conversion faradic efficiency and better selectivity than the Co-N_(4)counterpart because coordination of the fifth pyridine evokes electronic localization that suppresses a competitive side reaction.This work proves the positive electrocatalytic contribution of axial penta-coordination on well-defined metalporphyrin-based catalysts and offers atomic understanding of the structure-performance correlation on single atom catalysts for future catalyst design. | Bingyu Huang Senhe Huang Chenbao Lu Longbin Li Judan Chen Ting Hu Dirk Lützenkirchen-Hecht Kai Yuan Xiaodong Zhuang Yiwang Chen | 2023 | CCS Chemistry2023,5,8: | 0 |
