2Baicalein suppresses vasculogenic mimicry through inhibiting RhoA/ROCK expression in lung cancer A549 cell line显示文摘Vasculogenic mimicry(VM)refers to a new tubular network of the blood supply system with abundant extracellular matrix.VM is similar to capillaries but does not involve endothelial cells.As a traditional herbal medicine commonly used in China,baicalein possesses anti-inflammatory and lipoxygenase activities.However,the effects of baicalein on the process of VM formation in nonsmall cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and the underlying mechanisms have remained poorly understood.In this study,baicalein was found to inhibit the viability and motility of A549 cells and induced the breakage of the cytoskeletal actin filament network.In addition,baicalein significantly decreased the formation of VM and downregulated the expressions of VM-associated factors,such as VEcadherin,EphA2,MMP14,MMP2,MIVIP9,PI3K and LAMC2,similar to the effects of ROCK inhibitors.In deed,baicalei n inhibited RhoA/ROCK expression in vitro and in vivo,suggesting the underlying mechanisms of reduced VM formation.Collectively,baicalein suppressed the formation of VM in NSCLC by targeting the RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway,indicating that baicalein might serve as an emerging drug for NSCLC.Zhe Zhang Li Nong Menglei Chen Xiaoli Gu Weiwei Zhao Minghui Liu Wenwu Cheng 2020Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,9:5
3Bamboo charcoal addition enhanced the nitrogen removal of anammox granular sludge with COD:Performance,physicochemical characteristics and microbial community显示文摘The effects of different chemical oxygen demand(COD)concentrations on the anammox granular sludge with Bamboo Charcoal(BC)addition were evaluated in UASB reactor.The results showed that the average total nitrogen(TN)removal efficiency was reduced from 85.9%to 81.4%when COD concentration was increased from 50 to 150 mg/L.However,the TN removal efficiency of BC addition reactors was dramatically 3.1%-6.4%higher than that without BC under different COD concentrations.The average diameter of granular sludge was 0.13 mm higher than that without BC.The settling velocity was increased by elevated COD concentration,while the EPS and VSS/SS were increased with BC addition.The high-throughput Miseq sequencing analyses revealed that the bacterial diversity and richness were decreased under COD addition,and the Planctomycetes related to anammox bacteria were Candidatus Brocadia and Candidatus Kuenenia.The Metagenomic sequencing indicated that the abundance of denitrification related functional genes all increased with elevated COD,while the abundance of anammox related functional genes of decreased.The func-tional genes related to anammox was hydrazine synthase encoding genes(hzsA,hzsB and hzsB).The average relative abundance of hzs genes in the reactor with BC addition was higher than the control at COD concentrations of 50 mg/L and 150 mg/L.The functional genes of denitrification mediated by BC were higher than those without BC throughout the operation phase.It is interesting to note that BC addition greatly enriched the related func-tional genes of denitrification and anammox.Menglei Guo Ying Jiang Junxiang Xie Qianfei Cao Qun Zhang Adams Mabruk Chongjun Chen 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,5:5

6Helium Bubble Growth in He^(+) Ions Implanted 304L Stainless Steel Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion During Post-Irradiation Annealing at 600℃显示文摘The abundancy of defect sinks in the microstructure of laser powder bed fusion(LPBF) processed austenitic stainless steels was found to be beneficial for helium resistance.In the current study,the influence of the novel microstructure in LPBF processed 304 L on the helium bubble growth behaviour was investigated using transmission electron microscopy in samples implanted with He^(+) ion and post-irradiation annealing treated at 600℃ for 1 h.Two variants of LPBF processed 304 L samples were used,one in as-built condition and the other solution-annealed.The comparison between the two samples indicated that the helium bubble growth was inhibited and remained stable in the as-built sample but coarsened significantly in the solution-annealed sample.The sub-grain boundaries and oxide nano-inclusions acted as defect sinks to trap helium atoms and inhibited the growth of helium bubble in the as-built sample under the post-irradiation annealing conditions used.Hui Liu Shiling Min Menglei Jiang Fuzhong Chu Ying Li Zhuoer Chen Kai Zhang Juan Hou Aijun Huang 2022Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2022,35,9:1
7Effects of Diet with'Lianhuang'Additive of Chinese Herb Medicine on Growth Performance and Metabolic Rates of Dietary Nutrients in Donglan Black Chicken显示文摘[Objectives]The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of diet with'Lianhuang'additive of Chinese herbal medicine(LACHM)on growth performance and metabolic rates of dietary nutrients in Donglan black chickens(DBCs).[Methods]80 DBCs aged 1 d were blocked into 4 groups randomly and assigned to 6 replicates in each group with 20 chicks in each replicate.Group A as control group fed basal diet.Groups B,C and D as treatment groups consumed the basal diet added with 0.25%,0.50%and 1.00%of LACHM,respectively during the test period of 70 d.In the end of feeding test,24 DBCs with similar body weight from each group were chosen out and used for a metabolism test to determine the metabolic rates of dietary nutrients from each treatment.The metabolism test was conducted as the same design as the feeding test and the DBCs from each group were fed the same diet as previous test.[Results]The ADG of chickens in the test increased by 5.00%-9.15%(P<0.05)except the stage of 50-70 d,and the individual average body weight(IABW)at 70 d in group B also increased by 4.86%(P<0.05).Compared with group A,the ADG of group C in the stages of 36-49,1-49 and 1-70 d and the IABW in the end of 70 d increased by 5.90%,2.66%,2.68%and 2.57%(P>0.05),respectively.The ADFI in the stage of 36-49 d from group A was 6.04%more than that from group B(P<0.01),and 5.12%and 4.13%more than those from groups C and D(P<0.05),respectively,and the ADFI of group A in the stage of 1-49 d was still 2.86%more than that from group C(P<0.05).However,no differences in ADFI were found in other stages in the test among the 4 groups(P>0.05).The F/G in the stages of 22-35 and 1-70 d from group B was 6.32%and 3.41%lower than those from group A(P<0.05),respectively,and even 11.43%and 7.31%lower in the stages of 36-49 and 1-49 d from group B than those from group A(P<0.01),respectively.The F/G of group C in the stage of 36-49 d was also 10.15%lower than that of group A(P<0.05),and still 5.29%lower than that from group A in 1-49 d(P<0.01),but no differences were found in other stages between the two groups(P>0.05).The metabolic rates of MD,CP,CF,NFE,CA,TE,Ca and P in the 3 treatment diets for group B,C and D all increased to some extent.Among them,the increasing extents of diets with 0.25%and 0.50%of LACHM for groups B and C were much greater.Therefore,the diet with 0.25%of LACHM could improve the growth performance and metabolic rates of dietary nutrients in DBCs significantly.[Conclusions]This study provides a theoretical reference for the effects of traditional Chinese medicine additives on the growth and metabolic rates of DBCs.Jing YAN Lei QIU Min CHEN Fulin WANG Wenjie LU Menglei LI Cui YANG Jiahuang YANG 2022Agricultural Biotechnology2022,11,3:1
8Gut microbiome,cognitive function and brain structure:a multi-omics integration analysis显示文摘Background:Microbiome-gut-brain axis may be involved in the progression of age-related cognitive impairment and relevant brain structure changes,but evidence from large human cohorts is lacking.This study was aimed to investigate the associations of gut microbiome with cognitive impairment and brain structure based on multi-omics from three independent populations.Methods:We included 1430 participants from the Guangzhou Nutrition and Health Study(GNHS)with both gut microbiome and cognitive assessment data available as a discovery cohort,of whom 272 individuals provided fecal samples twice before cognitive assessment.We selected 208 individuals with baseline microbiome data for brain magnetic resonance imaging during the follow-up visit.Fecal 16S rRNA and shotgun metagenomic sequencing,tar-geted serum metabolomics,and cytokine measurements were performed in the GNHS.The validation analyses were conducted in an Alzheimer’s disease case-control study(replication study 1,n=90)and another community-based cohort(replication study 2,n=1300)with cross-sectional dataset.Results:We found protective associations of specific gut microbial genera(Odoribacter,Butyricimonas,and Bac-teroides)with cognitive impairment in both the discovery cohort and the replication study 1.Result of Bacteroides was further validated in the replication study 2.Odoribacter was positively associated with hippocampal volume(β,0.16;95%CI 0.06-0.26,P=0.002),which might be mediated by acetic acids.Increased intra-individual alterations in gut microbial composition were found in participants with cognitive impairment.We also identified several serum metabolites and inflammation-associated metagenomic species and pathways linked to impaired cognition.Conclusions:Our findings reveal that specific gut microbial features are closely associated with cognitive impair-ment and decreased hippocampal volume,which may play an important role in dementia development.Xinxiu Liang Yuanqing Fu Wen-ting Cao Zhihong Wang Ke Zhang Zengliang Jiang Xiaofang Jia Chun-ying Liu Hong-rou Lin Haili Zhong Zelei Miao Wanglong Gou Menglei Shuai Yujing Huang Shengdi Chen Bing Zhang Yu-ming Chen Ju-Sheng Zheng 2022Translational Neurodegeneration2022,11,1:1

10Gut microbiota,inflammation,and molecular signatures of host response to infection显示文摘Gut microbial dysbiosis has been linked to many noncommunicable diseases.However,little is known about specific gut microbiota composition and its correlated metabolites associated with molecular signatures underlying host response to infection.Here,we describe the construction of a proteomic risk score based on 20 blood proteomic biomarkers,which have recently been identified as molecular signatures predicting the progression of the COVID-19.We demonstrate that in our cohort of 990 healthy individuals without infection,this proteomic risk score is positively associated with proinflammatory cytokines mainly among older,but not younger,individuals.We further discover that a core set of gut microbiota can accurately predict the above proteomic biomarkers among 301 individuals using a machine learning model and that these gut microbiota features are highly correlated with proinflammatory cytokines in another independent set of 366 individuals.Fecal metabolomics analysis suggests potential amino acid-related pathways linking gut microbiota to host metabolism and inflammation.Overall,our multi-omics analyses suggest that gut microbiota composition and function are closely related to inflammation and molecular signatures of host response to infection among healthy individuals.These results may provide novel insights into the cross-talk between gut microbiota and host immune system.Wanglong Gou Yuanqing Fu Liang Yue Geng-Dong Chen Xue Cai Menglei Shuai Fengzhe Xu Xiao Yi Hao Chen Yi Zhu Mian-Li Xiao Zengliang Jiang Zelei Miao Congmei Xiao Bo Shen Xiaomai Wu Haihong Zhao Wenhua Ling Jun Wang Yu-Ming Chen Tiannan Guo Ju-Sheng Zheng 2021Journal of Genetics and Genomics2021,48,9:1

12Numerical Investigation on Convective Heat Transfer of Supercritical Carbon Dioxide in a Mini Tube Considering Entrance Effect显示文摘There are more and more researches on heat transfer characteristics and prediction of supercritical CO_(2).The method of adding adiabatic section before and after heating section is usually adopted in these researches to ensure that the fluid entering the heating section is no longer affected by boundary layer,but the appropriate length range of adiabatic section and the influence of entrance effect are not discussed.However,some studies show that the entrance effect would affect the heat transfer in mini tubes.This paper uses the commercial CFD code FLUENT 19.0 to numerically study the heat transfer of supercritical CO_(2) in a mini tube under different working conditions(such as Re_(in),P_(in),q_(w) and flow direction)and the lengths of the adiabatic section(l_(as)/d).The entrance effects on heat transfer is more pronounced when Re_(in) is within the transition state and wall heat flux is relatively high,the resulting heat transfer deterioration causes T_(w,x) and h_(w,x) to rise sharply.As the adiabatic section increases,the location at which the heat exchange deteriorates moves to the entrance of the heating section and eventually leaves.The buoyancy effect and flow acceleration effect caused by the sharp change of physical properties are analyzed,and the dimensionless velocity distribution at the inlet of the heating section in different adiabatic sections is compared.It is proved that the entrance effect has an influence on the convection heat transfer of supercritical CO_(2) in mini tubes.The interaction reflected by wall shear stress between boundary layer development and drastic changes in physical properties is the cause of heat transfer deterioration.LIU Meng JIANG Xinying FANG Yufeng GUO Menglei DING Chen 2021Journal of Thermal Science2021,30,6:0
13Modulating carrier density of the(Ag)_(x)(MoO_(3))_(y)system to enhance SERS:Localized surface plasmon resonance contribution显示文摘Semiconductors typically exhibit long-wavelength LSPR absorption in the infrared region due to lower carrier density.Tuning the carrier density of semiconductors and blue-shifting their LSPR absorption to the visible and near-infrared region has always been a great challenge.Herein,we discussed how the controllable carrier of(Ag)x(MoO_(3))y composite influences the LSPR based on SERS test and UVeViseNIR absorption spectra.We were surprised to find that the LSPR absorption wavelength can be easily tuned from 950 to 735 nm by changing the sputtering power of MoO_(3)of the(Ag)x(MoO_(3))_(y)composite.This shows that LSPR can be precisely adjusted by increasing the semiconductor content and even the carrier density.In addition,the carrier density was measured by Hall effect to investigate the SERS intensity change caused by electromagnetic(EM)enhancement,and obtain the relationship between the two.The findings of this work provide an idea for tunable LSPR and the research of EM contributions to SERS.Lin Zhu Zhu Mao Peng Li Menglei Xu Zhen Meng Lei Chen Bing Zhao 2023Journal of Materiomics2023,9,2:0

16Direct insight into sulfiphilicity-lithiophilicity design of bifunctional heteroatom-doped graphene mediator toward durable Li-S batteries显示文摘The practical applications of lithium-sulfur(Li-S)battery have been greatly hindered by the severe polysulfide shuttle at the cathode and rampant lithium dendrite growth at the anode.One of the effective solutions deals with concurrent management of both electrodes.Nevertheless,this direction remains in a nascent stage due to a lack of material selection and mechanism exploration.Herein,we devise a temperature-mediated direct chemical vapor deposition strategy to realize the controllable synthesis of three-dimensional boron/nitrogen dual-doped graphene(BNG)particulated architectures,which is employed as a light-weighted and multi-functional mediator for both electrodes in Li-S batteries.Benefiting from the“sulfiphilic”and“lithiophilic”features,the BNG modified separator not only enables boosted kinetics of polysulfide transformation to mitigate the shuttle effect but also endows uniform lithium deposition to suppress the dendritic growth.Theoretical calculations in combination with electro-kinetic tests and operando Raman analysis further elucidate the favorable sulfur and lithium electrochemistry of BNG at a molecular level.This work offers direct insight into the mediator design via controllable synthesis of graphene materials to tackle the fundamental challenges of Li-S batteries.Haina Ci Menglei Wang Zhongti Sun Chaohui Wei Jingsheng Cai Chen Lu Guang Cui Zhongfan Liu Jingyu Sun 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,3:0
17In vivo bioorthogonal labeling of rare-earth doped nanoparticles for improved NIR-II tumor imaging by extracellular vesiclemediated targeting显示文摘The development of efficient contrast agents for tumor-targeted imaging remains a critical challenge in the clinic.Herein,we proposed a tumor-derived extracellular vesicle(EV)-mediated targeting approach to improve in vivo tumor imaging using ternary downconversion nanoparticles(DCNPs)with strong near infrared II(NIR-II)luminescence at 1,525 nm.The EVs were metabolically engineered with azide group,followed by in vivo labeling of DCNPs through copper-free click chemistry.By taking advantage of the homologous targeting property of tumor derived EVs,remarkable improvement in the tumor accumulation(6.5%injection dose(ID)/g)was achieved in the subcutaneous colorectal cancer model when compared to that of individual DCNPs via passive targeting(1.1%ID/g).Importantly,such bioorthogonal labeling significantly increased NIR-II luminescence signals and prolonged the retention at tumor sites.Our work demonstrates the great potential of EVs-mediated bioorthogonal approach for in vivo labeling of NIR-II optical probes,which provides a robust tool for tumor-specific imaging and targeted therapy.Hui Li Yanfeng Zhong Shumin Wang Menglei Zha Wenxing Gu Guoyong Liu Bohan Wang Zhendong Yu Yu Wang Kai Li Yuxin Yin Jing Mu Xiaoyuan Chen 2023Nano Research2023,16,2:0
18Panel Acoustic Contribution Analysis in Automotive Acoustics Using Discontinuous Isogeometric Boundary Element Method显示文摘In automotive industries,panel acoustic contribution analysis(PACA)is used to investigate the contributions of the body panels to the acoustic pressure at a certain point of interest.Currently,PACA is implementedmostly by either experiment-based methods or traditional numerical methods.However,these schemes are effort-consuming and inefficient in solving engineering problems,thereby restraining the further development of PACA in automotive acoustics.In this work,we propose a PACA scheme using discontinuous isogeometric boundary element method(IGABEM)to build an easily implementable and efficient method to identify the relative acoustic contributions of each automotive body panel.Discontinuous IGABEMis more accurate and converges faster than continuous BEM and IGABEM in the interior sound pressure evaluation of automotive compartments.In this work,a contribution ratio is defined to estimate the relative acoustic contribution of the structure panels;it can be calculated by reusing the coefficient matrix that has already been generated in the sound pressure evaluation process.The utilization of the parallel technique enables the proposed method to be more efficient than conventional methods;it is validated in two numerical examples,including a car passenger compartment subjected to realistic boundary conditions.A sound pressure response experiment based on a steel box is conducted to verify the accuracy of the interior sound pressure calculation using discontinuous IGABEM.This work is expected to promote the practical process of IGABEM for application in automotive acoustic problems.Yi Sun Chihua Lu Zhien Liu Menglei Sun Hao Chen 2023Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2023,,6:0
19Value of Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome differentiation in predicting the survival time of patients with advanced cancer显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To prospectively study the accuracy of the palliative prognostic index(PPI)survival prediction model combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome differentiation.METHODS:The PPI survival prediction model was used to predict survival time.Patients'real survival time was recorded.The survival time was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method,and the logrank method was used to test the difference.RESULTS:The average PPI survival prediction score of 227 patients was 5.83(95%CI:5.29-6.37).There was a significant difference in the real-life period between the different PPI groups(P<0.05).PPI group Ⅰ(predicted survival of >6 weeks)showed the highest predictive sensitivity and PPI group Ⅱ(predicted survival of 3-6 weeks)showed the highest predictive specificity.According to TCM syndrome differentiation,82 cases(36%)were diagnosed with liver and kidney Yin deficiency(type Ⅳ).The actual survival time of type Ⅳ patients was significantly shorter than that of other types of patients(mean:21.85 vs 28.70,P=0.007).In group Ⅰ,the median survival time of type Ⅳ patients and other types was 25 and 34 d,respectively(P<0.001).The sensitivity and specificity of PPI prediction were improved in group Ⅱ by TCM syndrome differentiation.For patients in group Ⅲ whose predicted survival time was<3 weeks,the specificity of PPI survival prediction was higher in type Ⅳ patients.CONCLUSION:This study shows that the PPI predictive tool for survival rate has important value.TCM syndrome differentiation and typing has certain significance for further classification and survival prediction.GU Xiaoli CHEN Menglei LIU Minghui ZHANG Zhe ZHAO Weiwei CHENG Wenwu 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,4:0
