1Inhibitors of 5-lipoxygenase inhibit expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 in human melanoma cells显示文摘AIM: To study the effect of 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors on the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) inmelanoma cells. METHODS: ICAM-1 protein of human melanoma cell a375 was detected by enzyme-linkedimmunosorbent, flow cytometry and Western blot analysis. Level of ICAM-1 mRNA in a375 was evaluated byNorthern blot analysis. Adhesion of a375 to endothelial cell EC304 was analyzed by isotopic tracing. RESULTS:5-Lipoxygenase inhibitors nordihydroguaiaretic acid, AA861 and MK886, could suppress the expression of ICAM-1protein as well as of its mRNA in a375 cells and reduce the adhesion of a375 to EC304. 2Effects of esculentoside A on production of interleukin-1, 2, and prostaglandin E_2显示文摘AIM: To investigate the influence of esculentoside A (EsA) on immunological function and its mechanism of anti- inflammation. METHODS: Interleukin-1 production was measured by thymocyte co-stimulating assay; the radio- activity of [3H]arachidonic acid (AA) was used to evaluate the release of AA; prostaglandin E2 production was measured with radioimmunoassay (RIA); IL-2 and IFN-γ were detected by ELISA method. RESULTS: EsA (3-12 μmol/L)could potently inhibit the production of IL-1 and PGE2 from both silent and LPS induced macrophages. EsA had no significant effect on the release of AA from murine macrophages. EsA could inhibit the production of IL-2 from murine lymphocytes induced by ConA, but not affect the production from silent lymphocytes. EsA showed no effect on the production of IFN-γ from both silent and ConA induced lymphocytes. 3Improvement of Mechanical Properties of Wood-Plastic Composite Floors Based on the Optimum Structural Design显示文摘A study is carried out on the structural design of wood-plastic composite floors. The geometric parameters of the cavities, the structure, and the means to optimize the performance of these light boards are investigated. Various structural parameters of the boards, such as size,shape, and the pattern of cavities are also studied. The optimal structure can be determined by calculation and analysis of the strength, stiffness, weight and cost of the material. 4Effect of cross-section shape of rotating chute on particle movement and distribution at the throat of a bell-less top blast furnace显示文摘Rotating chutes are widely used to control the burden distribution and enhance the gas distribution in a blast furnace.The chute cross-section shape has a significant effect on the particle movement and distribution.Therefore,this study developed a three-dimensional model of a blast furnace top with rotating chute using the discrete element method.The effect of different chute shapes on the particle movement and radial burden distribution was then investigated.The results showed that the burden stream height at the chute discharge agrees well with the burden stream thickness at the burden surface.A semicircular chute had the largest main striking point,where the chute discharge joins the burden surface,and trapezoidal and rectangular chutes had successively smaller MSPs.The semicircular chute helped to obtain a uniform radial size distribution.The trapezoidal chute helped form an aggregated burden stream at low rotating speeds,while the rectangular shape chute achieved this at higher rotating speeds and different chute angles.Mingyin Kou Jian Xu Shengli Wu Heng Zhou Kai Gu Shun Yao Bingjie Wen 2019Particuology2019,17,3:3

12The Solids Conveying Mechanism for Helically Grooved Single-screw Extruders显示文摘A novel particle-size conveying model was established to examine the effects of the dimension relationships of the groove depth and particle size on the solids conveying mechanism of the helically grooved feed section. In the model, one or two shear interfaces were proposed based on the dimension relationships of the groove depth and particle size, and the solid-plug embedded in the groove and screw channel were divided into two or three layers by the shear interfaces to consider the solids conveying mechanism of each layer by the boundary condition equation for positive conveying. By the particle-size model, the effects of different dimension relationships on the transformation of solids conveying mechanisms between the friction-drag conveying and the positive conveying were discussed and compared with the on-line measuring experimental data. 13Single-atom electrocatalyst and gel polymer electrolyte boost the energy density and life of aluminum-sulfur batteries显示文摘Aluminum-sulfur(Al-S)batteries are regarded as a desirable candidate for large-scale energy storage be-cause of their high energy density and abundant natural resources of electrode materials.To address the critical issues of low discharge voltage and rapid capacity decay in Al-S batteries,here an electrocatalyst-assisted gel-polymer electrolyte(GPE)-based Al-S battery is fabricated using platinum nanoparticles deco-rated platinum/nitrogen co-doped graphene(PtNG)as sulfur host for positive electrode and metal-organic frameworks(MOF)filled GPE(MOF@GPE)as solid electrolyte.Pt-based active sites derived from Pt nan-oclusters’surface and atomically dispersed Pt-N_(2) chemical bonds in PtNG can catalyze the decomposition of sulfur and polysulfides in the electrochemical process,greatly accelerating the sulfur redox kinetics.Furthermore,the MOF fillers in MOF@GPE electrolyte significantly inhibit the shuttle effect of polysul-fides,efficiently improving the utilization of sulfur.Consequently,the established Al-S battery delivers a specific capacity of 1009 mAh g^(−1) with a discharge plateau of∼0.95 V,along with a capacity retention of 65% after 300 cycles,revealing ultrahigh energy density and long cycle life.Such a strategy of combin-ing electrocatalyst and MOF-based gel electrolyte affords a fresh plateau for promoting the rechargeable ability of Al-S batteries,advancing remarkable routes for achieving efficient and stable energy storage devices.Zheng Huang Wei Wang Mingyin Kou Haiping Lei Yiwa Luo Shuqiang Jiao 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,21:0
14Phosphor-free microLEDs with ultrafast and broadband features for visible light communications显示文摘Modulation bandwidth and the emission region are essential features for the widespread use of visible light communications(VLC).This paper addresses the contradictory requirements to achieve broadband and proposes ultrafast,asymmetric pyramids grown on adjacent deep concave holes via lateral overgrowth.Multicolor emission with an emission region between 420 nm and 600 nm is obtained by controlling the growth rate at different positions on the same face,which also can provide multiple subcarrier frequency points for the employment of wavelength division multiplexing technology.The spontaneous emission rate distinction is narrowed by lowering the number of the crystal plane,ensuring a high modulation bandwidth over broadband.More importantly,the residual stress and dislocation density were minimized by employing a patterned substrate,and lateral overgrowth resulted in a further enhancement of the recombination rate.Finally,the total modulation bandwidth of multiple subcarriers of the asymmetric pyramids is beyond GHz.These ultrafast,multicolor microLEDs are viable for application in VLC systems and may also enable applications for intelligent lighting and display.Zhenhuan Tian Qiang Li Xuzheng Wang Mingyin Zhang Xilin Su Ye Zhang Yufeng Li Feng Yun S.W.Ricky Lee 2021Photonics Research2021,9,4:0

16Influence of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) upon thematuration and allo-stimulatory activity of cultured progenitors of dendritic cells and the effectson the tolerance induction in allograft recipients显示文摘To investigate the influence of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) upon the maturation and the allo-stimulatory activity of cultured progenitors of dendritic cells (DCp), and to evaluate the effects of the pre-treated dentritic cells of recipients with MMF on the tolerance induction as well as its possible mechanism, GM-CSF and MMF were added to the in vitro cultured progenitor cells, and the immuno-phenotypical analysis was performed by means of flow cytometry. The secretion of IL-12 was detected by ELISA and the stimulatory activities of DCp on allogeneic T cells were observed by mixed lymphocyte reaction. Twenty-four C57BL/6 mice were divided into 3 groups (each with 8 mice), in which group A of mice accepted allografts of heart from BALB/c mice, group B of mice had received untreated DCp from donors of BALB/c mice 7 days before transplantation, and C57BL/6 mice in group C were treated by injection with MMF-treated allografts of heart from BALB/c mice 7 days before transplantation. The survival times of allografts and the changes of the cytokine levels in sera of the recipient mice were observed after transplantation. The experimental results showed that MMF could significantly inhibit the expressions of the co-stimulatory molecules CD80 and CD86 on DCs and the secretion of IL-12 and the allo-stimulatory activities of DCs were also markedly inhibited. The survival times of allografts in group B of mice were longer than those in group A, while the group C showed the longest survival times of allografts, with a marked reduction in the production of the Th1 type cytokines. 17Improvement of Mechanical,Dynamic-Mechanical and Thermal Properties for Noil Ramie Fiber Reinforced Polyethylene Composites显示文摘Noil discarded fibers from fiber production for textile industry have short length and are always considered less valuable.Here,noil ramie fibers/HDPE composite is prepared using twin-screw extruder and the dynamic mechanical and thermal properties are studied.The influence of ramie fiber and maleic anhydride-grafted polyolefin(MA-g-PO)on mechanical,dynamic mechanical and thermal properties is investigated.It is observed that the tensile,flexural and impact properties of the composites treated with MA-g-PO are all improved in comparison to the untreated composites.Dynamic mechanical properties of the composite with MA-g-PO show an increase in the storage modulus with a higherαrelaxation peak,together with the micromorphology analysis,indicating an improved interfacial bonding between fiber and matrix by the MA-g-PO addition.Furthermore,the change in TGA thermograms of composite caused by MA-g-PO exhibits that the addition of MA-g-PO is also helpful to increase the thermal stability of noil ramie fiber/HDPE composites.Zhang Yang Xue Ping Ding Yun Jia Mingyin Shi Zhenwei Wang Hao 2016Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2016,33,1:0
18A recyclable method for titanium extraction and oxygen evolution from Ti-bearing slags显示文摘Despite its existence for more than 80 years,the titanium industry is still challenged by massive carbon emissions,high production costs,and large resource waste.More than one hundred million tons of Ti-bearing blast furnace slag(TB-slag)has been discarded in China because of the difficulty of reutilization,which requires efficient titanium extraction and recovery technologies.This paper describes a low-cost,carbon-emission-free method for Ti extraction and oxygen evolution via molten oxide electrolysis(MOE)vacuum distillation.After a comprehensive analysis of the binding energies and activities of liquid metals,the highlights of our study are as follows.1)Sb has the best preferential deposition of Ti among a series of high-Ti-affinitive liquid metal cathodes(Cu,Ni,Pb,Sn,and Sb).2)The Ir anode was first used in TB-slag with IrO_(2) formed on its surface to protect it from further corrosion.3)An alloy containing Ti and Ca can be obtained by MOE,and Ti and Ca metals can be refined by further vacuum distillation.4)A closed loop is formed in the overall process owing to the recyclable Sb cathode and continuous feeding of TB-slag into the electrolyte.This simple,low-cost,and environmentally friendly method can realize the efficient utilization of Ti resources and achieve carbon neutrality.Zhenghao Pu Wei Wang Zhe Wang Mingyin Kou Yiwa Luo Jianbang Ge Xin Tao Mingyong Wang Shuqiang Jiao 2024Fundamental Research2024,4,1:0
