| 1 | Characteristics of the phytoplankton community and bioaccumulation of heavy metals during algal blooms in Xiangjiang River (Hunan,China)显示文摘The frequency of algal blooms has increased in the mid and downstream reaches of the Xiangjiang River (Hunan,China),one of the most heavily polluted rivers in China.We identified the bloom-forming species in a bloom that occurred mid-late September 2010.In addition,we determined the extent of metal bioaccumulation in the algae and measured the toxicity of the algae using a mouse bioassay.Water samples were collected at upstream (Yongzhou),midstream (Hengyang),and downstream (Zhuzhou,Xiangtan,and Changsha) sites.The dominant species was Aulacoseira granulata,formerly known as Melosira granulata.The heaviest bloom occurred at Xiangtan and Changsha,where the number of A.granulata peaked at 1.3×10 5 filaments L 1 and chlorophyll a at 0.04 mg L 1.Concentrations of Al,Fe,and Mn were 4.4 10 3,768.4,and 138.7 mg kg 1 dry weight in the phytoplankton.The bioaccumulation factor was 4.0×10 5,7.7×10 5,and 3.2×10 3,respectively.The heavy metal Pb had the greatest tendency to bioaccumulate among the highly toxic heavy metals,with a concentration of 19.2 mg kg 1 dry weight and bioaccumulation factor of 9.6×10 3.The mouse bioassay suggested the bloom was toxic.The LD 50 was 384 mg kg 1 and all surviving mice lost weight during the first 72 h after exposure.Our results demonstrate that blooms of A.granulata in rivers contaminated with heavy metals pose a threat to freshwater ecosystems and human health.Thus,measures should be taken to control eutrophication and heavy metal pollution in such rivers. | LI Jie PENG FuLi DING DongBo ZHANG ShuBing LI DeLiang ZHANG Ting | 2011 | Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,10: | 6 |
| 2 | Nematode-Encoded RALF Peptide Mimics Facilitate Parasitism of Plants through the FERONIA Receptor Kinase显示文摘The molecular mechanism by which plants defend against plant root-knot nematodes(RKNs)is largely unknown.The plant receptor kinase FERONIA and its peptide ligands,rapid alkalinization factors(RALFs),regulate plant immune responses and cell expansion,which are two important factors for successful RKN parasitism.In this study,we found that mutation of FERONIA in Arabidopsis thaliana resulted in plants showing low susceptibility to the RKN Meloidogyne incognita.To identify the underlying mechanisms associated with this phenomenon,we identified 18 novel RALF-likes from multiple species of RKNs and showed that two RALF-likes(i.e.,MiRALF1 and MiRALF3)from M.incognita were expressed in the esophageal gland with high expression during the parasitic stages of nematode development.These nematode RALF-likes also possess the typical activities of plant RALFs and can directly bind to the extracellular domain of FERONIA to modulate specific steps of nematode parasitism-related immune responses and cell expansion.Genetically,both MiRALF1/3 and FERONIA are required for RKN parasitism in Arabidopsis and rice.Collectively,our study suggests that nematode-encoded RALFs facilitate parasitism via plant-encoded FERONIA and provides a novel paradigm for studying host-pathogen interactions. | Xin Zhang Huan Peng Sirui Zhu Junjie Xing Xin Li Zhaozhong Zhu Jingyuan Zheng Long Wang Bingqian Wang Jia Chen Zhenhua Ming Ke Yao Jinzhuo Jian Sheng Luan Devin Coleman-Derr Hongdong Liao Yousong Peng Deliang Peng Feng Yu | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,10: | 3 |
| 3 | Energy-effi cient MAC protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks显示文摘Designing energy-efficient Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols has a significant influence on the energy performance of wireless sensor network (WSN). In this paper we present a survey of the recent typical MAC protocols regarding energy effi ciency for WSN. According to channel access policies, we classify these protocols into four categories:contention-based, TDMA-based, hybrid, and cross layer protocols, in which the advantages and disadvantages in each class of MAC protocols are discussed. | 6 | MPC-based Torque Distribution for Planar Motion of Four-wheel Independently Driven Electric Vehicles:Considering Motor Models and Iron Losses显示文摘The most critical obstacle for four-wheel independently driven electric vehicles(4WID-EVs)is the driving range.Being the actuators of 4WID-EVs,motors account for its major power consumption.In this sense,by properly distributing torques to minimize the power consumption,the driving range of 4WID-EV can be effectively improved.This paper proposes a model predictive control(MPC)-based torque distribution scheme,which minimizes the power consumption of 4WID-EVs while guaranteeing its tracking performance of planar motions.By incorporating the motor model considering iron losses,the optimal torque distribution can be achieved without an additional torque controller.Also,for this reason,the proposed control scheme is computationally efficient,since the power consumption term to be optimized,which is expressed as the product of the motor voltages and currents,is much simpler than that derived from the efficiency map.With reasonable simplification and linearization,the MPC problem is converted to a quadratic programming problem,which can be solved efficiently.The simulation results in MATLAB and CarSim co-simulation environments demonstrate that the proposed scheme effectively reduces power consumption with guaranteed tracking performance. | Yiyan Su Deliang Liang Peng Kou | 2023 | CES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems2023,7,1: | 1 |
| 7 | Co-varying temperatures at 200 hPa over the Earth’s three poles显示文摘The Earth’s three poles,the North Pole,South Pole,and Third Pole(i.e.,the Tibetan Plateau and its surroundings),hold the largest amount of fresh water on Earth as glaciers,sea ice,and snow.They are sensitive to climate change.However,the linkages between climate variations of the three poles,particularly between the South Pole and Third Pole,remain largely unknown.The temperatures at 200 hPa over the three poles are the highest in the summer and are less affected by surface conditions,which could reflect large-scale dynamic linkages.Temperatures at 200 hPa peak the three poles during their respective hemispheric summer and exhibit in-phase variations on interdecadal timescales(10–100 years).The 200 hPa temperatures over the North Pole and South Pole were significantly correlated with the Brewer-Dobson circulation(BDC),which transports stratospheric ozone poleward,heating the air at 200 hPa.Tropopause warming over the Third Pole was found to enhance the poleward BDC,particularly to the South Pole,linking the Third Pole’s climate to the other two poles.Additionally,the Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation(IPO)also exhibits links with the 200 hPa temperatures of the three poles. | Keyan FANG Peng ZHANG Jingming CHEN Deliang CHEN | 2021 | Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,2: | 1 |

| 13 | How similar are annual and summer temperature variability in central Sweden?显示文摘Tree-ring based temperature reconstructions have successfully inferred the past inter-annual to millennium scales summer temperature variability. A clear relationship between annual and summer temperatures can provide insights into the variability of past annual mean temperature from the reconstructed summer temperature. However, how similar are summer and annual temperatures is to a large extent still unknown. This study aims at investigating the relationship between annual and summer temperatures at different timescales in central Sweden during the last millennium. The temperature variability in central Sweden can represent large parts of Scandinavia which has been a key region for dendroclimatological research. The observed annual and summer temperatures during 1901-2005 were firstly decomposed into different frequency bands using ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD) method, and then the scale-dependent relationship was quantified using Pearson correlation coefficients. The relationship between the observed annual and summer temperatures determined by the instrumental data was subsequently used to evaluate 7 climate models. The model with the best performance was used to infer the relationship for the last millennium. The results show that the relationship between the observed annual and summer temperatures becomes stronger as the timescale increases, except for the 4-16 years timescales at which it does not show any relationship. The summer temperature variability at short timescales(2-4 years) shows much higher variance than the annual variability, while the annual temperature variability at long timescales(>32years) has a much higher variance than the summer one. During the last millennium, the simulated summer temperature also shows higher variance at the short timescales(2-4 years) and lower variance at the long timescales(>1024 years) than those of the annual temperature. The relationship between the two temperatures is generally close at the long timescales, and weak at the short timescales. Overall the summer temperature variability cannot well reflect the annual mean temperature variability for the study region during both the 20 th century and the last millennium. | 14 | Significant histological changes are not rare in indeterminate‐phase chronic hepatitis B patients with hepatitis B e antigen‐negative and normal alanine aminotransferase levels显示文摘Background&Objectives:The degree of liver injury in indeterminate chronic hepatitis B(CHB)infection patients with Hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg)‐negative and persistently normal alanine aminotransferase(PNALT)levels is yet unclear.Therefore,we aimed to assess liver histological changes in such patients by liver biopsy and explore possible predictors.Methods:Overall,711 HBeAg‐negative CHB patients with PNALT levels who underwent liver biopsy from January 2017 to June 2022 were included in this retrospective study.The relationships between histological changes and predictors were assessed by smooth curve fitting and multivariate logistic regression analysis models.Data were also analyzed using American Association for the Study of Liver Disease(AASLD)modified alanine aminotransferase(ALT)criteria.Results:The proportion of significant histological changes in the indeterminate phase was higher than that in the inactive phase(53.97%vs.41.33%).The adjusted odds ratios(aORs)of significant necroinflammation and histological changes for the indeterminate phase were 2.05 and 1.43,respectively,when compared with the inactive phase by multivariate logistic regression analyses.Significant histological changes in the‐phase were positively associated with age,ALT,Aspartate aminotransferase(AST),Hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg),and Hepatitis B virus(HBV)DNA levels but negatively correlated with platelet(PLT)levels.HBV DNA≥5 log10 U/L and PLT<200�109/L were independent predictive factors for assessing histological changes in indeterminate‐phase patients.Similar analysis findings were obtained using the two sets of modified ALT criteria.Conclusions:Significant histological changes are not rare in indeterminatephase CHB patients and are higher than in the inactive phase,regardless of the ALT criteria.Histological investigation is strongly suggested for intermediate stage patients with HBV DNA>5 log10 U/L or PLT<200�109/L and antiviral therapy should be considered for such patients. | Deliang Huang Guangde Zhou Jinghan Peng Qinxian Cai Guojun Li Hong Yu Zhibing Zhu Yuanyuan Chen Huiyi Lai Jinyan Jiang Hong Yu Jun Chen | 2023 | iLABMED2023,1,3: | 0 |

| 17 | Influence of environmental enrichment on hippocampal synapses in adolescent offspring of mothers exposed to prenatal stress显示文摘Environmental enrichment attenuates hippocampal synaptic injury induced by prenatal stress in offspring. However, the influence of hippocampal synaptic changes and regional differences in prenatal stress remains poorly understood. The present study induced stress in Sprague Dawley rats, which were at gestational age 13-19 days. Following weaning, the offspring were raised in an enriched environment to establish models of stress + enriched environment. Dendritic spine density and synaptophysin expression were detected in hippocampal neurons using Golgi staining and western blot analysis, respectively. Results showed that enriched environment increased dendritic spine density of apical dendrites in CA1 pyramidal cells and basal dendrites of granular cells in the outer layer of the dentate gyrus. | 20 | Influence of geological factors on coal permeability in the Sihe coal mine显示文摘Permeability of coal reservoirs influence the extraction of coal gas from coal seams.Twelve coal samples were collected at an anticline and a syncline of the No.3 coal seam in the Sihe coal mine.Porosity,permeability,pore size,vitrinite reflectance,and liquid nitrogen adsorption of the samples were evaluated.Structural curvatures at the sample locations,and the distance between the sampling locations and the nearest faults were calculated based on seismic data.The influences of the evaluated parameters on permeability were analyzed.Major factors that influence permeability of the No.3 coal seam were extracted using principal component analysis(PCA).Based on the porosity–permeability model derived from the Archie formula and classic Kozeny–Carman equation,we deduced that the permeability of coal increased with an increase in porosity.With an increase in average vitrinite reflectance,permeability decreases first and then increases.PCA results showed that coal permeability was regulated by three key components representing three modes.The first component included pore size,depth,and pore complexity accounting for 52.59%of the variability indicating that it was the most important in controlling permeability.The second component included specific surface area,structural curvature,and porosity,and the third component comprised of specific surface area,porosity,and average vitrinite reflectance.Overall,pore diameter and complexity had significant effects on coal permeability.The results show that researchers and stakeholders must consider the interactions among multiple factors rather than single factors to understand the influences on permeability to facilitate efficient utilization of coalbed methane resources. | Guangui Zou Qianhua Zhang Suping Peng Jiasheng She Deliang Teng Chaochao Jin Yuyan Che | 2022 | International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2022,9,1: | 0 |
