| 2 | Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction for treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy:a meta-analysis of 16 randomized controlled trials显示文摘OBJECTIVE:This meta-analysis was performed to systematically assess the efficacy and safety of the Chinese herbal medicine Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction(HGWWD) for treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy.DATA SOURCES:Six electronic databases,including the Cochrane Library,MEDLINE database,Chinese Biomedical Database,Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,Chinese Science and Technique Journals Database,and the Wanfang Database,were search ed on the internet for randomized controlled trials published up until 1 December 2015.The search terms included 'Chinese herbal medicine','diabetic peripheral neuropathy' and 'randomized controlled trials' in Chinese and in English.DATA SELECTION:We included randomized controlled trials using HGWWD/modified HGWWD for the treatment group,without restriction for the control group.We assessed literature quality in accordance with the Cochrane Review Handbook.A random or a fixed effects model was used to analyze outcomes using Rev Man 5.2 software.OUTCOME MEASURES:The primary outcomes were changes in symptoms and nerve conduction velocities.The secondary outcomeswere fasting blood glucose and hemorheological indexes.RESULTS:Sixteen randomized controlled trials,with a total of 1,173 patients,were included.Meta-analysis revealed that the efficacy of HGWWD for diabetic peripheral neuropathy was significantly superior compared with the control treatment(i.e.,control group)(risk ratio = 0.36,95% confidence interval(CI):0.29–0.46,Z =8.33,P < 0.00001) Compared with the control group,there was an increase in median motor nerve conduction velocity(mean difference(MD) = 3.46,95%CI:1.88–5.04,Z = 4.30,P < 0.01) and median sensory nerve conduction velocity(MD = 3.30,95%CI:2.04–4.56,Z = 5.14,P < 0.01).There was also an increase in peroneal motor nerve conduction velocity(MD = 3.22,95%CI:2.45–3.98,Z = 8.21,P < 0.01) and peroneal sensory nerve conduction velocity(MD = 3.05,95%CI:2.01–4.09,Z = 5.75,P < 0.01) in the treatment groups.No significant difference in fasting blood glucose was found between the treatment groups and the control groups(MD =-0.12,95%CI:-0.42–0.19,Z = 0.76,P = 0.45).Plasma viscosity was significantly decreased after treatment(MD =-0.11,95%CI:-0.21 to-0.02,Z = 2.30,P = 0.02).No significant difference in fibrinogen was detectable(MD =-0.53,95%CI:-1.28–0.22,Z = 1.38,P = 0.17).Four trials reported that treatment groups experienced no adverse reactions.Adverse events were not mentioned in the other 12 trials.No trial reported the incidence of complications,quality of life outcomes,or health economics.CONCLUSION:HGWWD treatment improves diabetic neurologic symptoms and ameliorates nerve conduction velocities.Our study suggests that HGWWD may have significant therapeutic efficacy for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.However,the methodological quality of the randomized controlled trials was generally low.Larger and better-designed randomized controlled trials are required to more reliably assess the clinical effectiveness of HGWWD. | Bing Pang Tian-yu Zhao Lin-hua Zhao Fang Wan Ru Ye Qiang Zhou Feng Tian Xiao-lin Tong | 2016 | Neural Regeneration Research2016,11,8: | 32 |
| 3 | Grape Seed Proanthocyanidin Extract Alleviates Arsenic-induced Oxidative Reproductive Toxicity in Male Mice显示文摘Objective To determine the ability of grape seed proanthocyanidin extract(GSPE) in alleviating arsenic-induced reproductive toxicity. Methods Sixty male Kunming mice received the following treatments by gavage: normal saline solution(control); arsenic trioxide(ATO; 4 mg/kg); GSPE(400 mg/kg); ATO+GSPE(100 mg/kg); ATO+GSPE(200 mg/kg) and ATO+GSPE(400 mg/kg). Thereafter, the mice were sacrificed and weighed, and the testis was examined for pathological changes. Nuclear factor(erythroid-derived 2)-like 2(Nrf2), heme oxygenase 1(HO1), glutathione S-transferase(GST), NAD(P)H dehydrogenase, and quinone 1(NQO1) expression in the testis was detected by real-time PCR. Superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione(GSH), total antioxidative capability(T-AOC), malondialdehyde(MDA), 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine(8-OHd G), and reproductive indexes were analyzed. Results ATO-treated mice showed a significantly decreased sperm count and testis somatic index and activity levels of SOD, GSH, and T-AOC than control group. Compared to the ATO-treated group, ATO +GSPE group showed recovery of the measured parameters. Mice treated with ATO+high-dose GSPE showed the highest level of m RNA expression of Nrf2, HO, NQO1, and GST. | 6 | Ab initio study of the effects of Ag/Mn doping on the electronic structure of LiFePO_4显示文摘Based on density functional theory (DFT) of the first-principle for the cathode materials of lithium ion battery, the electronic structures of Li(Fe1-xMex)PO4 (Me = Ag/Mn, x = 0―0.40) are calculated by plane wave pseudo-potential method using Cambridge serial total energy package (CASTEP) program. The calculated results show that the Fermi level of mixed atoms Fe1-xAgx moves into its conduction bands (CBs) due to the Ag doping. The Li(Fe1-xAgx)PO4 system displays the periodic direct semiconductor characteristic with the increase of Ag-doped concentration. However, for Fe1-xMnx mixed atoms, the Fermi level is pined at the bottom of conduction bands (CBs), which is ascribed to the interaction be-tween Mn(3d) electrons and Fe(4s) electrons. The intensity of the partial density of states (PDOS) near the bottom of CBs becomes stronger with the increase of Mn-doped concentration. The Fermi energy of the Li(Fe1-xMnx)PO4 reaches maximum at x = 0.25, which is consistent with the experimental value of x = 0.20. | 7 | Endocrine Disruption Activity of 30-day Dietary Exposure to Decabromodiphenyl Ethane in Balb/C Mouse显示文摘Objective This study aimed to evaluate the hepatotoxicity,metabolic disturbance activity and endocrine disrupting activity of mice treated by Decabromodiphenyl ethane(DBDPE).Methods In this study,Balb/C mice were treated orally by gavage with various doses of DBDPE.After 30 days of treatment,mice were sacrificed; blood,livers and thyroid glands were obtained,and hepatic microsomes were isolated.Biochemical parameters including 8 clinical chemistry parameters,blood glucose and hormone levels including insulin and thyroid hormone were assayed.The effects of DBDPE on hepatic cytochrome P450(CYP) levels and activities and uridinediphosphate-glucuronosyltransferase(UDPGT) activities were investigated.Liver and thyroid glands were observed.Results There were no obvious signs of toxicity and no significant treatment effect on body weight,or liver-to-body weight ratios between treatment groups.The levels of ALT and AST of higher dose treatment groups were markedly increased.Blood glucose levels of treatment groups were higher than those of control group.There was also an induction in TSH,T3,and f T3.UDPGT,PROD,and EROD activities were found to have been increased significantly in the high dose group.Histopathologic liver changes were characterized by hepatocyte hypertrophy and cytoplasmic vacuolization.Our findings suggest that DBDPE can cause a certain degree of mouse liver damage and insufficiency.Conclusion DBDPE has the activity of endocrine disruptors in Bal/C mice,which may induce drug-metabolizing enzymes including CYPs and UDPGT,and interfere with thyroid hormone levels mediated by Ah R and CAR signaling pathways.Endocrine disrupting activity of DBDPE could also affect the glucose metabolism homeostasis. | SUN Ru Bao SHANG Shuai ZHANG Wei LIN Ben Cheng WANG Qiang SHI Yun XI Zhu Ge | 2018 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2018,31,1: | 7 |

| 10 | Ki-67 index,progesterone receptor expression,histologic grade and tumor size in predicting breast cancer recurrence risk:A consecutive cohort study显示文摘Background:The 21-gene recurrence score(RS)assay has been recommended by major guidelines for treatment decision in hormone receptor(HR)-positive early breast cancer(EBC).However,the genomic assay is not accessible and affordable worldwide.Alternatively,an increasing number of studies have shown that traditional immunohistochemistry(IHC)can partially or even completely replace the role of the 21-gene genomic assay.Here,we developed and validated a predictive model(IHC3 model)combining the Ki-67 index,progesterone receptor(PR)expression,histologic grade,and tumor size to predict the recurrence risk of HR-positive EBC.Methods:The data from 389 patients(development set)with HR-positive,human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative,lymph node non-metastasized invasive breast cancer were used to construct the IHC3 model based on the Surexam®21-gene RS and the TAILORx clinical trial criteria.An additional 146 patients with the same characteristics constituted the validation set.The predictive accuracy of the IHC3 model was compared with that of Orucevic et al.’s nomogram.Invasive diseasefree survival(IDFS)was analyzed in the IHC3 predictive low-recurrence risk(pLR)group and the predictive high-recurrence risk(pHR)group.The Pearson chi-square test,Fisher exact test,and log-rank test were used for analysis.Results:The pLR and pHR group could be easily stratified using the decision tree model without network dependence.The accuracies of the IHC3 model were 86.1%in the development set and 87.7%in the validation set.The predictive accuracy of the IHC3 model and Orucevic et al.’s nomogram for the whole cohort was 86.5%and 86.9%,respectively.After a 52-month of median follow-up,a significant difference was found in IDFS between of the IHC3 pLR and the pHR groups(P=0.001)but not in the IDFS between the low-and high-recurrence risk groups according to the Surexam®21-gene RS and the TAILORx clinical trial criteria(P=0.556)or 21-gene binary RS group(P=0.511).Conclusions:The proposed IHC3 model could reliably predict low and high recurrence risks in most HR-positive EBC patients.This easy-to-use predictive model may be a reliable replacement for the 21-gene genomic assay in patients with EBC who have no access to or cannot afford the 21-gene genomic assay. | Yanna Zhang Yidong Zhou Feng Mao Ru Yao Qiang Sun | 2020 | Cancer Communications2020,40,4: | 5 |

| 12 | Research on Hepatitis B virus Genotypes and Subgenotypes among Bai Nationality in Dali, Yunnan Province显示文摘To investigate the distribution of hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotypes and subgenotypes among the Bai nationality in Dali, a total of 100 serum samples from patients with chronic HBV-infection were collected for the detection of HBV genotypes and subgenotypes by genotype-specific primers and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RLFP), respectively. Among the 100 samples, the proportions of genotype B, C and mixed genotype (B+C) were 41%, 25% and 34%, respectively. All the genotype B strains belonged to subgenotype Ba. In genotype C, 84% were Subgenotype Cs and 12% were subgenotype Ce. The distribution of genotypes B, C and B+C showed no significant difference between male and female patients (P=0.182) and among the age groups of patients (P=0.812). The rates of HBeAg/HBeAg positivity were no significantly different among genotypes B, genotype C and mixed genotype (B+C) (P=0.077/P=0.663). In Dali, genotypes B, B+C and C existed among Bai nationality with chronic HBV-infection, and genotype B was the major genotype. Subgenotypes Ba and Cs were the predominant strains in patients with HBV genotype B/C infection. | 13 | Microdisk lasers on an erbium-doped lithium-niobite chip显示文摘Lithium niobate on insulator(LNOI) provides a platform for the fundamental physics investigations and practical applications of integrated photonics. However, as an indispensable building block of integrated photonics, lasers are in short supply. In this paper, erbium-doped LNOI laser in the 1550-nm band was demonstrated in microdisk cavities with high quality factors fabricated in batches by UV exposure, inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching, and chemomechanical polishing. The threshold and conversion efficiency of the erbium-doped LNOI microdisk laser were measured to be lower than 1 m W and 6.5×10^(-5)%, respectively. | 14 | Optimal Waist Circumference Cut-off values for Identifying Metabolic Risk Factors in Middle-aged and Elderly Subjects in Shandong Province of China显示文摘Objective To study the optimal waist circumference(WC) cut-off values for identifying metabolic risk factors in middle-aged and elderly subjects in Shandong Province of China. Methods A total of 2 873 men and 5 559 women were included in this cross-sectional study. Metabolic syndrome(MetS) was diagnosed according to the definition of Chinese Diabetes Society in 2004. The relation between WC and MetS was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression analysis. The optimal WC cut-off values were identified using the area under the ROC curve and the different diagnostic criteria for central obesity were compared. Results The WC was the risk factor for MetS independent of BMI, blood glucose, blood lipid, and blood pressure. The optimal WC cut-off value was 83.8 cm and 91.1 cm for identifying MetS in women and men, respectively. Compared with 80 cm and 85 cm for women and men, 85 cm and 90 cm had a higher Youden index for identifying all metabolic risk factors and MetS in women and men. | 18 | Synthesis and characterization of the flower-like La_(x)Ce_(1-x)O_(1.5+δ) catalyst for low-temperature oxidative coupling of methane显示文摘Lanthanum-based oxides are promising candidates for low-temperature oxidative coupling of methane(OCM).To further lower the OCM reaction temperature,the Ce doped flower-like La_(2)O_(2)CO_(3)microsphere catalysts were synthesized,achieving a significantly low reaction temperature (375℃) while maintaining high C_(2) hydrocarbon selectivity (43.0%).Doping Ce into the lattice of La_(2)O_(2)CO_(3)created more surface oxygen vacancies and bulk lattice defects,which was in favor of the transformation and migration of oxygen species at 350–400℃.The designed H_(2) temperature-programmed reduction (H_(2)-TPR) experiments provided strong evidence that the low reaction temperature of La_(x)Ce_(1-x)O_(1.5+δ)can be attributed to the transformation and migration of oxygen species,which dynamically generated surface oxygen vacancies for continuous oxygen activation to selectively convert methane.Moreover,designed temperatureprogrammed surface reaction (TPSR) clarified that two kinds of surface oxygen species in La_(x)Ce_(1-x)O_(1.5+δ)catalysts were concerned with catalytic performance,that is,the surface chemisorbed oxygen species for the activation of CH_(2)and the formation of CH_(2)·intermediates,surface La-Ce-O lattice oxygen species that caused the excessive oxidation of CH_(2)·intermediates.Finally,the factors affecting the transformation and migration of oxygen species were explored. | Ru Feng Pengyu Niu Bo Hou Qiang Wang Litao Jia Minggui Lin Debao Li | 2022 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,4: | 2 |
