| 2 | Chinese herbal medicine reduces mortality in patients with severe and critical coronavirus disease 2019: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM)in patients with severe/critical coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).In this retrospective study,data were collected from 662 patients with severe/critical COVID-19 who were admitted to a designated hospital to treat patients with severe COVID-19 in Wuhan before March 20,2020.All patients were divided into an exposed group(CHM users)and a control group(non-users).After propensity score matching in a 1:1 ratio,156 CHM users were matched by propensity score to 156 non-users.No significant differences in seven baseline clinical variables were found between the two groups of patients.All-cause mortality was reported in 13 CHM users who died and 36 non-users who died.After multivariate adjustment,the mortality risk of CHM users was reduced by 82.2%(odds ratio 0.178,95%CI 0.076–0.418;P<0.001)compared with the non-users.Secondly,age(odds ratio 1.053,95%CI 1.023–1.084;P<0.001)and the proportion of severe/critical patients(odds ratio 0.063,95%CI 0.028–0.143;P<0.001)were the risk factors of mortality.These results show that the use of CHM may reduce the mortality of patients with severe/critical COVID-19. | Guohua Chen Wen Su Jiayao Yang Dan Luo Ping Xia Wen Jia Xiuyang Li Chuan Wang Suping Lang Qingbin Meng Ying Zhang Yuhe Ke An Fan Shuo Yang Yujiao Zheng Xuepeng Fan Jie Qiao Fengmei Lian Li Wei Xiaolin Tong | 2020 | Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6: | 10 |

| 4 | Dicalcium silicate-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and autophagy-mediated macrophagic inflammation promotes osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs显示文摘Dicalcium silicate(Ca_(2)SiO_(4),C_(2)S)has osteogenic potential but induces macrophagic inflammation.Mitochondrial function plays a vital role in macrophage polarization and macrophagic inflammation.The mitochondrial function of C_(2)S-treated macrophages is still unclear.This study hypothesized:(i)the C_(2)S modulates mitochondrial function and autophagy in macrophages to regulate macro-phagic inflammation,and(ii)C_(2)S-induced macrophagic inflammation regulates osteogenesis.We used RAW264.7 cells as a model of macrophage.The C_(2)S(75–150μg/ml)extract was used to analyze the macrophagic mitochondrial function and macrophagemediated effect on osteogenic differentiation of mouse bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs).The results showed that C_(2)S extract(150μg/ml)induced TNF-α,IL-1βand IL-6 production in macrophages.C_(2)S extract(150μg/ml)enhanced reactive oxygen species level and intracellular calcium level but reduced mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP production.TEM images showed reduced mitochondrial abundance and altered the mitochondrial morphology in C_(2)S(150μg/ml)-treated macrophages.Protein level expression of PINK1,Parkin,Beclin1 and LC3 was upregulated but TOMM20 was downregulated.mRNA sequencing and KEGG analysis showed that C_(2)S-induced differentially expressed mRNAs in macrophages were mainly distributed in the essential signaling pathways involved in mitochondrial function and autophagy.The conditioned medium from C_(2)S-treated macrophage robustly promoted osteogenic differentiation in BMSCs.In conclusion,our results indicate mitochondrial dysfunction and autophagy as the possible mechanism of C_(2)S-induced macrophagic inflammation.The promotion of osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs by the C_(2)S-induced macrophagic inflammation suggests the potential application of C_(2)S in developing immunomodulatory bone grafts. | Qianting Luo Xingyang Li Wenchao Zhong Wei Cao Mingjing Zhu Antong Wu Wanyi Chen Zhitong Ye Qiao Han Duraipandy Natarajan Janak L.Pathak Qingbin Zhang | 2022 | Regenerative Biomaterials2022,9,1: | 0 |
| 5 | Coastal mudflats as reservoirs of extracellular antibiotic resistance genes: Studies in Eastern China显示文摘Despite coastal mudflats serving as essential ecological zones interconnecting terrestrial/freshwater and marine systems,little is known about the profiles of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)in this area.In this study,characteristics of typical ARGs,involving both intracellular(iARGs)and extracellular ARGs(eARGs)at different physical states,were explored in over 1000 km of coastal mudflats in Eastern China.Results indicated the presence of iARGs and eARGs at states of both freely present or attached by particles.The abundance of eARGs was significantly higher than that of iARGs(87.3%vs 12.7%),and their dominance was more significant than those in other habitats(52.7%-76.3%).ARG abundance,especially for eARGs,showed an increasing trend(p<0.05)from southern(Nantong)to northern(Lianyungang)coastalmudflats.Higher salinity facilitated the transformation from iARGs to eARGs,and smaller soil particle size was conducive to the persistence of eARGs in northern coastal mudflats.This study addresses the neglected function of coastal mudflats as eARGs reservoirs. | Qingbin Yuan Xiaolin Wang Hui Fang Yuan Cheng Ruonan Sun Yi Luo | 2023 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,7: | 0 |
| 6 | Effect of Pouring Temperature by a Novel Micro Fused-Casting on Microstructure and Properties of ZL101 Semisolid Slurry显示文摘A novel micro fused-casting(MFC)process is developed for semisolid aluminum alloy slurry.The microstructure evolution and properties of semisolid ZL101 aluminum alloy slurry with difierent pouring temperature by MFC are investigated in this paper.During the cooling process,the effects of the pouring temperature on microstructure and properties is primarily analyzed.The microstructure of the semisolid ZL101 aluminum alloy is more homogeneous and the grain is smaller under proper pouring temperature.Temperature of liquids and solids of ZL101 aluminum alloy is measured by difierential scanning calorimetry(DSC).Distribution and characteristics of the microstructure of samples are examined by optical microscope(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)equipped with energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS).The results show that the ZL101 semisolid slurry fabricated by MFC presents uniform shape and good grain size under the pouring temperature of 594°C and the stirring velocity of 600 r/min,and the fine grains of the primary a-Al phase with average grain size of 55μm and shape factor up to 0.67 were obtained.Besides,the ultimate tensile strength and the average Vickers hardness for semisolid ZL101 aluminum slurry are 178.19±1.37 MPa and 86.15±1.16 HV,respectively. | LUO Xiaoqiang HAN Yongjun HOU Yanmin LI Qingbin JIN Yu | 2023 | Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2023,38,5: | 0 |
| 7 | High expression of BCL6 inhibits the differentiation and development of hematopoietic stem cells and affects the growth and development of chickens显示文摘Background:B-cell CLL/lymphoma 6(BCL6)is a transcriptional master regulator that represses more than 1200 potential target genes.Our previous study showed that a decline in blood production in runting and stunting syndrome(RSS)affected sex-linked dwarf(SLD)chickens compared to SLD chickens.However,the association between BCL6 gene and hematopoietic function remains unknown in chickens.Methods:In this study,we used RSS affected SLD(RSS-SLD)chickens,SLD chickens and normal chickens as research object and overexpression of BCL6 in hematopoietic stem cells(HSCs),to investigate the effect of the BCL6 on differentiation and development of HSCs.Results:The results showed that comparison of RSS-SLD chickens with SLD chickens,the BCL6 was highly expressed in RSS-SLD chickens bone marrow.The bone marrow of RSS-SLD chickens was exhausted and red bone marrow was largely replaced by yellow bone marrow,bone density was reduced,and the levels of immature erythrocytes in peripheral blood were increased.At the same time,the hematopoietic function of HSCs decreased in RSS-SLD chickens,which was manifested by a decrease in the hematopoietic growth factors(HGFs)EPO,SCF,TPO,and IL-3,as well as hemoglobinα1 and hemoglobinβexpression.Moreover,mitochondrial function in the HSCs of RSS-SLD chickens was damaged,including an increase in ROS production,decrease in ATP concentration,and decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential(ΔΨm).The same results were also observed in SLD chickens compared with normal chickens;however,the symptoms were more serious in RSS-SLD chickens.Additionally,after overexpression of the BCL6 in primary HSCs,the secretion of HGFs(EPO,SCF,TPO and IL-3)was inhibited and the expression of hemoglobinα1 and hemoglobinβwas decreased.However,cell proliferation was accelerated,apoptosis was inhibited,and the HSCs entered a cancerous state.The function of mitochondria was also abnormal,ROS production was decreased,and ATP concentration andΔΨm were increased,which was related to the inhibition of apoptosis of stem cells.Conclusions:Taken together,we conclude that the high expression of BCL6 inhibits the differentiation and development of HSCs by affecting mitochondrial function,resulting in impaired growth and development of chickens.Moreover,the abnormal expression of BCL6 might be a cause of the clinical manifestations of chicken comb,pale skin,stunted growth and development,and the tendency to appear RSS in SLD chickens. | Hongmei Li Bowen Hu Shang Hu Wen Luo Donglei Sun Minmin Yang Zhiying Liao Haohui Wei Changbin Zhao Dajian Li Meiqing Shi Qingbin Luo Dexiang Zhang Qinghua Nie Xiquan Zhang | 2021 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,3: | 0 |
| 8 | Prevalence of Metabolic Obese Normal Weight and Related Risk Factors in South China显示文摘[Objectives]Metabolic obese normal weight(MONW)is becoming one of the pubic problems which are threatening human health.Whereas,MONW was facing a great challenge for limited attention,especially for the female in China.The aim of this research was to estimate the prevalence of MONW and its related risk components in South China.[Methods]A community-based cross-sectional study was performed on 3349 residents aged 18-93 years in The First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University,Guangzhou,China,in 2019.Data was collected by physical examination data which included physical measurements and laboratory examinations.[Results]In all subjects,55%were females(M/F=1509/1840).The prevalence of MONW was 16.09%(0.04%for male,16.05%for female,P<0.001).The prevalence increased significantly with increasing age in both genders(P<0.001).The binary logistic regression analysis shows that among the risk factors with MONW,age,BMI,gender,systolic pressure,hypertension[Male:ORs=2.56,95%CI(1.23,5.32);Female:ORs=2.88,95%CI(1.76,4.71)]and hypertriglyceridemia[Male:ORs=3.23,95%CI(1.67,6.19);Female:ORs=2.57,95%CI(1.64,4.03)]were found to be statistically significant.The level of ALT in MONW group was(27.88±15.85)in male and(24.33±15.75)in female,which were significantly higher than those in the non-MetS group.[Conclusions]The prevalence of MONW was pretty high.We considered MONW be significantly associated with the increase of ALT.Female gender,advanced age,and elevated ALT were independent risk factors for MONW.It was high time that the government should raise the public attention toward metabolic function in normal weight population.Effective prevention and treatment strategies for MONW and its risk factors should be developed targeting different ages and genders. | Xuehua LUO Zien LIANG Yan LI Qingbin WU Zhiqiang PAN Yuqing LIANG Lingyu LI Juanjuan MAI Huijun XIE Li HAN | 2021 | Medicinal Plant2021,12,2: | 0 |
