| 1 | The impact of endplate fracture on postoperative vertebral height loss and kyphotic deformity during treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with balloon kyphoplasty显示文摘This retrospective study investigated the impact of endplate fracture on postoperative vertebral height loss and kyphotic deformity in 144 patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF),who received balloon kyphoplasty.Patients were divided into four groups:Group 1 had no superior endplate fracture,Group 2 had fractures on the anterior portion of the superior endplate,Group 3 had fractures on the posterior portion of the superior endplate,and Group 4 had complete superior endplate fractures.Anterior and middle vertebral body height,vertebral compression ratio,vertebral height loss rate,and kyphosis Cobb angle of each patient were measured and visual analogue scale(VAS) and Oswestry disability index(ODI) scores were recorded.The anterior vertebral height and kyphosis deformity of all groups significantly improved after the surgery,whereas substantial anterior vertebral height loss and increased Cobb angle were observed in all patients at the last follow-up.Although the vertebral height loss rate and the Cobb angle in Group 2,3 and 4 were larger compared with Group 1 at the last follow-up,only the vertebral height loss rate in Group 4 and the increase in the Cobb angle in Group 2 and 4 were statistically different from those in Group 1.The VAS and ODI scores in all groups measured after the surgery and at the last follow-up were significantly lower compared with preoperative scores,but there was no significant difference among these groups.Balloon kyphoplasty significantly improved vertebral fracture height and kyphosis.Vertebral height loss and increased kyphotic deformity were observed in OVCF patients with endplate fractures after the surgery.Postoperative aggravation of kyphosis was observed in Group 2.Furthermore,severe vertebral height loss and increased kyphotic deformity were confirmed in Group 4 after the surgery.Our results suggested that postoperative vertebral height loss and aggravation of kyphosis may be associated with biomechanical changes in the vertebral body caused by endplate fracture.Therefore,surgery should not only restore compressed vertebral body height and correct kyphosis,but also correct the deformity of endplate to achieve an effective treatment of OVCF patients with endplate fracture. | Qingqing Li Long Xiao Jianwei Zhang Jin Fan Wei Zhou Guoyong Yin Yongxin Ren | 2016 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2016,30,5: | 5 |

| 3 | Preparation of ZrB_(2)-MoSi_(2) high oxygen resistant coating using nonequilibrium state powders by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis显示文摘To achieve high oxygen blocking structure of the ZrB_(2)-MoSi_(2) coating applied on carbon structural material,ZrB_(2)-MoSi_(2) coating was prepared by spark plasma sintering(SPS)method utilizing ZrB_(2)-MoSi_(2) composite powders synthesized by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis(SHS)technique as raw materials.The oxygen blocking mechanism of the ZrB_(2)-MoSi_(2) coatings at 1973 K was investigated.Compared with commercial powders,the coatings prepared by SHS powders exhibited superior density and inferior oxidation activity,which significantly heightened the structural oxygen blocking ability of the coatings in the active oxidation stage,thus characterizing higher oxidation protection efficiency.The rise of MoSi_(2) content facilitated the dispersion of transition metal oxide nanocrystals(5-20 nm)in the SiO_(2) glass layer and conduced to the increasing viscosity,thus strengthening the inerting impact of the compound glass layer in the inert oxidation stage.Nevertheless,the ZrB_(2)-40 vol% MoSi_(2) coating sample prepared by SHS powders presented the lowest oxygen permeability of 0.3% and carbon loss rate of 0.29×10^(6)g·cm^(-2)·s^(-1).Owing to the gradient oxygen partial pressure inside the coatings,the Si-depleted layer was developed under the compound glass layer,which brought about acute oxygen erosion. | Menglin ZHANG Xuanru REN Mingcheng ZHANG Songsong WANG Li WANG Qingqing YANG Hongao CHU Peizhong FENG | 2021 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2021,10,5: | 2 |
| 4 | Habitat restoration is the greatest challenge for population recovery of Hainan gibbons(Nomascus hainanus)显示文摘Hainan gibbons are among the world’s most critically endangered primates,with a remaining population of only 35 individuals distributed across 5 social groups in the Bawangling Branch of the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park,China.Habitat conversion and forest fragmentation over the past 40 years have reduced their geographical distribution by 95%.In the absence of a quantitative assessment of the availability of remaining suitable habitat,it is unclear whether this species can survive to the end of this century.We used behavioral observations,ArcGIS,remote sensing,stereo optical imagery,and MaxEnt modeling to identify patterns of Hainan gibbon range use and compare changes in the distribution of suitable forest types and areas of forest fragmentation over the past 20 years(2000–2020).The results indicate that the combined range of the 5 extant Hainan gibbon groups totaled 14.89 km2.The home range of the smallest group(Group E,3 individuals)was 1.51 km2,which likely represents the minimum home range size for this species.The remaining area of highly suitable and moderately suitable habitat totals 26.9 km2.However,habitat connectivity across the gibbon range is very low(less than 0.5),limiting the ability of Hainan gibbons to move between forest patches.The results of this study indicate that the availability of suitable habitat in Bawangling is insufficient to allow for future Hainan gibbon population growth.Therefore,immediate action must be taken to restore,reforest,and establish ecological corridors to reconnect areas of suitable habitat for these critically endangered gibbons. | Qingqing HE Shasha YAN Paul A.GARBER Baoping REN Xvming QI Jiang ZHOU | 2023 | Integrative Zoology2023,18,4: | 2 |

| 6 | Self-assembled FeS-based cascade bioreactor with enhanced tumor penetration and synergistic treatments to trigger robust cancer immunotherapy显示文摘Major challenges for cancer treatment are how to effectively eliminate primary tumor and sufficiently induce immunogenic cell death(ICD)to provoke a robust immune response for metastasis control.Here,a self-assembled cascade bioreactor was developed to improve cancer treatment with enhanced tumor penetration and synergistic therapy of starvation,chemodynamic(CDT)and photothermal therapy.Ultrasmall Fe S-GOx nanodots were synthesized with glucose oxidase(GOx)as template and induced by paclitaxel(PTX)to form self-assembling Fe S-GOx@PTX(FGP)via hydrophobic interaction.After accumulated at tumor sites,FGP disassembles to smaller Fe S-GOx for enhanced deep tumor penetration.GOx maintains high enzymatic activity to catalyze glucose with assistant of oxygen to generate hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)as starvation therapy.Fenton reaction involving the regenerated H_(2)O_(2) in turn produced more hydroxyl radicals for enhanced CDT.Following near-infrared laser at 808 nm,FGPs displayed pronounced tumor inhibition in vitro and in vivo by the combination therapy.The consequent increased exposure to calreticulin amplified ICD and promoted dendritic cells maturation.In combination with anti-CTLA4 checkpoint blockade,FGP can absolutely eliminate primary tumor and avidly inhibit distant tumors due to the enhanced intratumoral infiltration of cytotoxic T lymphocytes.Our work presents a promising strategy for primary tumor and metastasis inhibition. | Hao Ren Jiahui Yong Qingqing Yang Zhen Yang Zhangya Liu Yan Xu Hao Wang Xing Jiang Wenjun Miao Xueming Li | 2021 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,10: | 2 |

| 12 | Origin and chromatin remodeling of young X/Y sex chromosomes in catfish with sexual plasticity显示文摘Assembly of a complete Y chromosome is a significant challenge in animals with an XX/XY sex-determination system.Re cently,we created YY-supermale yellow catfish by crossing XY males with sex-reversed XY females,providing a valuable model for Y-chromosome assembly and evolution.Here,we assembled highly homomorphic Y and X chromosomes by sequencing genomes of the YY supermale and XX female in yellow catfish,reve aling their nucleotide divergences with only less than 1%and with the same gene compositions.The sex-determining region(SDR)was identified to locate within a physical distance of0.3 Mb by FSTscanning.Strikingly,the incipient sex chromosomes were revealed to originate via autosome-autosome fusion and were characterized by a highly rearranged region with an SDR downstream of the fusion site.We found that the Y chromosome was at a very early stage of differentiation,as no clear evidence of evolutionary strata and classical structure features of recombination suppression for a rather late stage of Y-chromosome evolution were observed.Significantly,a number of sex-antagonistic mutations and the accumulation of repetitive elements were discovered in the SDR,which might be the main driver of the initial establishment of recombination suppression between young X and Y chromosomes.Moreover,distinct three-dimensional chromatin organizations of the Y and X chromosomes were identified in the YY supermales and XX females,as the X chromosome exhibited denser chromatin structure than the Y chromosome,while they respectively have significantly spatial interactions with female-and male-related genes compared with other autosomes.The chromatin configuration of the sex chromosomes as well as the nucleus spatial organization of the XX neomale were remodeled after sex reversal and similar to those in YY supermales,and a male-specific loop containing the SDR was found in the open chromatin region.Our results elucidate the origin of young sex chromosomes and the chromatin remodeling configuration in the catfish sexual plasticity. | Gaorui Gong Yang Xiong Shijun Xiao Xi-Yin Li Peipei Huang Qian Liao Qingqing Han Qiaohong Lin Cheng Dan Li Zhou Fan Ren Qi Zhou Jian-Fang Gui Jie Mei | 2023 | National Science Review2023,10,2: | 0 |

| 14 | Modified R-CODOX-M/IVAC chemotherapy regimens in Chinese patients with untreated sporadic Burkitt lymphoma显示文摘Objective:To characterize modified R-CODOX-M/IVAC-based chemotherapy to lower the severe adverse events in Chinese adult patients with sporadic Burkitt lymphoma.Methods:We enrolled a retrospective cohort including 123 adult patients with untreated sporadic Burkitt lymphoma from August 2008 to September 2019 at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center.We studied a dose-modified and long-course R-CODOX-M/IVAC regimen utilizing a low dose of 1.0 g/m2/cycle cyclophosphamide,2 g/m2/cycle methotrexate,4,500 mg/m2/cycle ifosfamide,and 4.0 g/m2/cycle cytarabine.Forty-nine patients with low risk disease underwent 4–6 cycles of dose-modified R-CODOX-M-based chemotherapy.Seventy-four patients with high risk disease underwent 6–8 cycles of dose-modified alternating R-CODOX-M/IVAC regimens.Results:The objective remission was 87.0%.The event-free survival rate and overall survival at 3 years were 81.2%and 92.1%,respectively.Major grade 3–4 adverse events included leukopenia(91.9%),anemia(58.5%),thrombocytopenia(73.2%),and febrile neutropenia(48.8%).A total of 26.0%and 37.4%of patients received red blood cell and platelet transfusions,respectively.We observed 4 cases(3.3%)of septic shock after chemotherapy.Two treatment-related deaths occurred from severe infection.Conclusions:The modified R-CODOX-M/IVAC chemotherapy regimen was effective for sporadic Burkitt lymphoma in the Chinese population,with a lower toxicity than standard regimens. | Meiting Chen Zhao Wang Xiaojie Fang Yuyi Yao Quanguang Ren Zegeng Chen Ying Tian Fei Pan Xiaoqian Li Zhiming Li Qingqing Cai He Huang Tongyu Lin | 2021 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,3: | 0 |
