| 1 | Can acupuncture therapy reduce preoperative anxiety?A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Background:Acupuncture therapy has shown promise for effectively relieving preoperative anxiety.Nevertheless,previous findings from randomized controlled trials(RCTs)are inconsistent and must be examined in detail.Objective:This study systematically evaluates the efficacy and safety of acupuncture therapy for preoperative anxiety as well as the quality of evidence supporting this application.Search strategy:The China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,Wanfang Data Journal Database,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Chongqing VIP,Embase,Pub Med and Cochrane Library Databases were queried from their inception to 19,February 2020,using keywords such as“acupuncture therapy,”“preoperative”and“anxioty.”Manual searches expanded the search breadth and included conference abstracts and other reference lists.Inclusion criteria:RCTs were included in the current study if they contained a comparison between a group of anxiety patients that received acupuncture therapy and a control group that received sham acupuncture.Data extraction and analysis:Literature was reviewed,and various articles were selected using the Note Express 3.2.0 software.Two researchers independently screened and extracted data and evaluated the risk of bias in the included studies.The Rev Man 5.3 software was used for data aggregation and the Grades of Recommendation,Assessment,Development and Evaluation(GRADE)assessment was used to evaluate the quality of the study outcomes.Results:Twelve studies were included in the review,containing a total of 916 patients.Meta-analysis showed that,compared with the control group,patients who received acupuncture therapy had reduced State-Trait Anxiety Inventory Scale(STAI-S)score(mean difference[MD]=–9.07,95%confidence interval[CI][–13.19 to–4.96],P<0.0001)and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score(MD=–1.37,95%CI[–2.29 to–0.45],P=0.003).However,for the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)score,there was no difference between the two groups(MD=–3.98,95%CI[–12.89 to 4.92],P=0.38).Further,the GRADE assessment demonstrated that the STAI-S was of moderate quality,the VAS of low quality and the HAMA of very low quality.Conclusion:Acupuncture therapy may be able to decrease anxiety in preoperative patients,but the results need to be further verified due to the small sample sizes and the low quality of evidence to date. | Qiu-yu Tong Ran Liu Kun Zhang Yuan G ao Guang-wei Cui Wei-dong Shen | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,19,1: | 15 |
| 2 | Knockdown of OsHox33, a member of the class III homeodomain-leucine zipper gene family, accelerates leaf senescence in rice显示文摘The class III homeodomain-leucine zipper(HD-Zip III)gene family plays important roles in plant growth and development,including regulation of apical embryo patterning,embryonic shoot meristem formation,leaf polarity,vascular development,and meristem function,with a particularly crucial function in leaf development.Although HD-Zip III members are highly conserved in land plants,previous studies,such as genetic analyses based on multiple mutants in Arabidopsis and other plants,suggest that various HD-Zip III family genes have evolved with distinct functions and pleiotropic effects on plant growth and development.In this study,we analyzed a HD-Zip III member,OsHox33,and demonstrated that it plays an important role in age-dependent leaf senescence in rice.We constructed two specific RNAi vectors derived from the 5′-end region and 3′-UTR of OsHox33 to knockdown its expression.Transgenic plants harboring either RNAi construct displayed similar phenotypes of precocious leaf senescence symptoms,suggesting that knockdown of OsHox33 accelerates leaf senescence in rice.pOsHox33::GUS fusion expression and RT-PCR revealed that OsHox33 is highly expressed in young organs,especially in young meristems such as shoot apical meristems,intercalary meristems,and young callus.In addition,real-time PCR indicated that OsHox33 was more highly expressed in young leaves than in old leaves.To further investigate OsHox33 function,we analyzed chloroplast ultrastructure in different-aged leaves of RNAi plants,and found that OsHox33 knockdown accelerated chloroplast degradation,which is consistent with RNAi phenotypes.Finally,real-time PCR studies showed that OsHox33 can regulate the expression of GS1 and GS2,two senescence-associated genes.Taken together,the work presented here provides new insights into the function of HD-Zip III members in plants. | LUAN WeiJiang SHEN Ao JIN ZhiPing SONG SuSheng LI ZhengLong SHA AiHua | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,12: | 13 |
| 3 | Evaluation of biodiesel from Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge seed kernel oil from 13 areas in China显示文摘Oil content from seed kernels of Xanthoceras sorbifolia from 13 areas in China was analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry to determine oil characteristics and biodiesel properties. The seeds had a high kernel percentage (53.67%± 7.51), oil content (52.21%± 4.01), and biodiesel yield (99.77%± 0.21). Among the fatty acids in the oil were high percentages of linoleic acid (41.66 ± 2.26)% and oleic acid (28.44%± 2.03). Most of the fuel properties complied well with the ASTM D6751-10, EN 14214-08, and GB/T 20828-2014 standards. The 13 sampling areas were grouped into four clusters based on different kernel percentage, oil content, biodiesel yield, and fatty acid composition. The results showed that the quality of kernel oils from seeds from Ar Horqin Banner was the best, although kernel oils from seeds in all 13 areas were suitable for biodiesel production. | 4 | Extractive distillation: Advances in conceptual design, solvent selection,and separation strategies显示文摘Extractive distillation(ED) is one of the most promising approaches for the separation of the azeotropic or closeboiling mixtures in the chemical industry. The purpose of this paper is to provide a broad overview of the recent development of key aspects in the ED process involving conceptual design, solvent selection, and separation strategies. To obtain the minimum entrainer feed flow rate and reflux ratio for the ED process, the conceptual design of azeotropic mixture separation based on a topological analysis via thermodynamic feasibility insights involving residue curve maps, univolatility lines, and unidistribution curves is presented. The method is applicable to arbitrary multicomponent mixtures and allows direct screening of design alternatives. The determination of a suitable solvent is one of the key steps to ensure an effective and economical ED process. Candidate entrainers can be obtained from heuristics or literature studies while computer aided molecular design(CAMD) has superiority in efficiency and reliability. To achieve optimized extractive distillation systems, a brief review of evaluation method for both entrainer design and selection through CAMD is presented. Extractive distillation can be operated either in continuous extractive distillation(CED) or batch extractive distillation(BED), and both modes have been well-studied depending on the advantages in flexibility and low capital costs. To improve the energy efficiency, several configurations and technological alternatives can be used for both CED and BED depending on strategies and main azeotropic feeds. | 6 | A genetic diversity assessment of starch quality traits in rice landraces from the Taihu basin,China显示文摘There are nearly 1 000 rice landrace varieties in the Taihu basin, China. To assess the genetic diversity of the rice, 24 intragenic molecular markers(representing 17 starch synthesis-related genes) were investigated in 115 Taihu basin rice landraces and 87 improved cultivars simultaneously. The results show that the average genetic diversity and polymorphism information content values of the landraces were higher than those of improved cultivars. In total, 41 and 39 allele combinations(of the 17 genes) were derived from the landraces and improved cultivars, respectively; only two identical allele combinations were found bet ween the two rice variety sources. Cluster analysis, based on the molecular markers, revealed that the rice varieties could be subdivided into five groups and, within these, the japonica improved rice and japonica landrace rice varieties were in two separate groups. According to the quality reference criteria to classify the rice into grades, some of the landraces were found to perform we ll, in terms of starch quality. For example, according to NY /T595-2002 criteria from the Ministry of Agriculture of China, 25 and 33 landraces reached grade 1, in terms of their apparent amylose content and gel consistency. Th e varieties that had outstanding quality could be used as breeding materials for rice quality breeding programs in the future. | 8 | Umbilical Cord Blood Lead Levels in Shanghai, China显示文摘This study was designed to determine the cord blood lead (BPb) levels of babies born in one urban area of Shanghai, and to preliminarily identify the demographic, social environment and prenatal factors which have an effect on the cord BPb concentrations. From August to November 1993, umbilical cord blood samples were obtained from 605 live newborns in the Yangpu Maternal and Child Hospital. 257 samples were excluded from measurement because of clotting. In 348 cord samples, the geometric mean of cord BPb levels was 9. 2μg/dl, with a 95 % confidence interval of the mean 8. 86-9. 54 (μg/dl). 142 babies (40. 8 % ) had cord BPb levels of 10μg/dl or greater. As a result of this high percentage of newborns with BPb levels equal to or greater than 10 μg/dl, we estimate that each year in the Shanghal City about 60,000 newborns are at risk for developing neuropsychological deficiencies caused by maternal lead exposure during pregnancy. To investigate the factors affecting cord blood levels, the subjects with levels greater than the 70th percentile (10. 7μg/dl) (n = 104) and less than the 3oth percentile (7. 4μg/dl) (n = 104) were selected to compare the demographic, environ ment and prenatal medical history. Increased BPb levels at birth were associated with maternal passive smoking, a family member being occupationally exposed to lead, proximity to major traffic way, household coal combustion, neighborhood coal combustion, low level of meternal occupations, and the increasing occurrence of having the high lead foodstuff pidan (preserved duck egg) during pregnancy. | 9 | Reverse Genetic Analysis of Transcription Factor Os Hox9, a Member of Homeobox Family, in Rice显示文摘Homeobox transcription factors participate in the growth and development of plants by regulating cell differentiation, morphogenesis and environmental signal response. To reveal the functions of these transcription factors in rice, we constructed the RNAi vectors of Os Hox9, a member of homeobox family, and analyzed the function of Os Hox9 using reverse genetics. The plant height and tillering number of RNAi transgenic plants decreased compared with those of wild-type plants. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction analysis showed that Os Hox9 expression reduced in the transgenic plants with phenotypic variance, whereas that in the transgenic plants without phenotypic variance was similar to that in the wild-type plants. This result suggests that the phenotypes of the transgenic plants were caused by RNAi effects. The tissue-specificity of Os Hox9 expression indicated that it was expressed in different organs, with high expression in stem apical meristem and young panicles. | 10 | Effects of ketamine on mouse hippocampal inflammatory cytokines IL-6,IL-1β and TNF-α levels in acute and chronic administration models显示文摘OBJECTIVE Ketamine is an injectable anesthetic and recreational drug of abuse commonly used worldwide. Many experimental studies have shown that ketamine can impair cognitive function and induce psychotic states. Neuroinflammation has been suggested to play an important role in neurodegeneration. Meanwhile,ketamine has been showed to modulate the levels of inflammatory cytokines.Therefore,we sought to investigate whether the effects of ketamine on the central nervous system is associated with the inflammatory cytokines. METHODS We established acute(single or multiple intraperitoneal injection) and chronic(six months daily intraperitoneal injection) ketamine administration models in C57BL/6 mice,evaluated the spatial recognition memory and emotional response by applying the Y maze test and open field test. We analyzed the changes of inflammatory cytokines interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-1β(IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) levels in mouse hippocampus,employing Western blot,quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(qR T-PCR) and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS Ketamine induced spatial recognition memory deficit,reduced anxiety-like behaviors in mice after chronic administration,and it was dose-dependent. Moreover,we found that ketamine could increase the levels of mouse hippocampal inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and IL-1β after single,multiple and long-term administration in a dose-dependent manner. However,the level of TNF-α expressed differently in mouse hippocampus under different conditions. Single administration of ketamine increased the level of TNF-α,whereas multiple and long-term administration decreased it significantly. We considered that TNF-α might exist bi-directional regulatory pathway,which was associated with the dose and duration of ketamine administration. | 19 | Exosomes secreted from cardiomyocytes suppress the sensitivity of tumor ferroptosis in ischemic heart failure显示文摘Heart failure(HF)patients in general have a higher risk of developing cancer.Several animal studies have indicated that cardiac remodeling and HF remarkably accelerate tumor progression,highlighting a cause-and-effect relationship between these two disease entities.Targeting ferroptosis,a prevailing form of non-apoptotic cell death,has been considered a promising therapeutic strategy for human cancers.Exosomes critically contribute to proximal and distant organ-organ communications and play crucial roles in regulating diseases in a paracrine manner.However,whether exosomes control the sensitivity of cancer to ferroptosis via regulating the cardiomyocyte-tumor cell crosstalk in ischemic HF has not yet been explored.Here,we demonstrate that myocardial infarction(MI)decreased the sensitivity of cancer cells to the canonical ferroptosis activator erastin or imidazole ketone erastin in a mouse model of xenograft tumor.Post-MI plasma exosomes potently blunted the sensitivity of tumor cells to ferroptosis inducers both in vitro in mouse Lewis lung carcinoma cell line LLC and osteosarcoma cell line K7M2 and in vivo with xenograft tumorigenesis model.The expression of miR-22-3p in cardiomyocytes and plasma-exosomes was significantly upregulated in the failing hearts of mice with chronic MI and of HF patients as well.Incubation of tumor cells with the exosomes isolated from post-MI mouse plasma or overexpression of miR-22-3p alone abrogated erastin-induced ferroptotic cell death in vitro.Cardiomyocyte-enriched miR-22-3p was packaged in exosomes and transferred into tumor cells.Inhibition of cardiomyocyte-specific miR-22-3p by AAV9 sponge increased the sensitivity of cancer cells to ferroptosis.ACSL4,a pro-ferroptotic gene,was experimentally established as a target of miR-22-3p in tumor cells.Taken together,our findings uncovered for the first time that MI suppresses erastin-induced ferroptosis through releasing miR-22-3p-enriched exosomes derived from cardiomyocytes.Therefore,targeting exosome-mediated cardiomyocyte/tumor pathological communication may offer a novel approach for the ferroptosis-based antitumor therapy. | Ye Yuan Zhongting Mei Zhezhe Qu Guanghui Li Shuting Yu Yingqi Liu Kuiwu Liu Zhihua Shen Jiaying Pu Yanquan Wang Changhao Wang Zhiyong Sun Qian Liu Xiaochen Pang Ao Wang Zijing Ren Tong Wang Ying Liu Jinhuan Hong Jiajie Xie Xin Li Zhonghua Wang Weijie Du Baofeng Yang | 2023 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,4: | 2 |
| 20 | Phosphorylation of tau protein over time in rats subjected to transient brain ischemia显示文摘Transient brain ischemia has been shown to induce hyperphosphorylation of the microtubule-associated protein tau.To further determine the mechanisms underlying these processes,we investigated the interaction between tau,glycogen synthase kinase(GSK)-3βand protein phosphatase 2A.The results confirmed that tau protein was dephosphorylated during brain ischemia;in addition,the activity of GSK-3βwas increased and the activity of protein phosphatase2A was decreased.After reperfusion,tau protein was hyperphosphorylated,the activity of GSK-3βwas decreased and the activity of protein phosphatase 2A remained low.Importantly,the interaction of tau with GSK-3βand protein phosphatase 2A was altered during ischemia and reperfusion Lithium chloride could affect tau phosphorylation by regulating the interaction of tau with GSK-3βand protein phosphatase 2A,and improve learning and memory ability of rats after transient brain ischemia.The present study demonstrated that it was the interaction of tau with GSK-3βand protein phosphatase 2A,rather than their individual activities,that dominates the phosphorylation of tau in transient brain ischemia.Hyperphosphorylated tau protein may play an important role in the evolution of brain injury in ischemic stroke.The neuroprotective effects of lithium chloride partly depend on the inhibition of tau phosphorylation during transient brain ischemia. | Bo Song Qiang Ao Zhen Wang Weiqiang Liu Ying Niu Qin Shen Huancong Zuo Xiufang Zhang Yandao Gong | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,34: | 2 |
